OK, my first attempt at a thread failed through my own fault, let's try again:

Limited duration because longer threads usually taper off. Ending the week beginning 24th of July, final weigh in/measurement Sunday the 30th (additional to the Thursday).

Weigh in or waist measurement Monday and Thursday. (I'm using waist measurement as I don't like weighing myself).

Using a recognised intermittent fasting schedule (e.g. 16/8, 5:2).

Optional exercise where possible, logged in the thread.

Starting tomorrow.

Is anyone up for slimming down in time for August?😀

I'm in! Thanks!

violetcuriosity · 25/06/2023 20:41

Yep I'm in! Started IF (17:7) again last week now my baby is 4 months old, will be great to do it with others.

waistchallenge · 25/06/2023 20:41

@determinedtomakethiswork Yay! 😎

I'm in 💪.
Will be using 5:2.
Am not sure if I will use waist measurement or weigh in as yet.

Jennifer17 · 25/06/2023 20:57

will join ye ladies, looking forward to trying this 😊

Whydoesnothingwork · 25/06/2023 20:58

Joining!

whatthefreshhell · 25/06/2023 20:58

I am in!

Whydoesnothingwork · 25/06/2023 21:01

I'm doing 16 8, stuck to it for a week now but in my eating window a few sugary treats have snuck in over the weekend.

UpUpUpU · 25/06/2023 21:04

Me! Water sports holiday coming up in 6 weeks and don’t want to look like a whale in my wetsuit!
Id be happy to lose 3kg but it’s my stomach that’s the problem. I’m very apple shaped so look awful in swimwear.
will take measurements in the morning 😬

SquirrelFeed · 25/06/2023 21:04

Yes! I’m going to do 5:2/16:8 combined. Really need this. Great shout OP.

waistchallenge · 25/06/2023 21:04

OMG so happy to see @violetcuriosity , @LetUsPounce , @Jennifer17 , @Whydoesnothingwork , @whatthefreshhell joined, we've got a group!

Yes! Keep falling in off the wagon but need a stone off.

Going to do 16:8 and stop eating sweet stuff in the evenings.

I want to start strength training but have no idea how to start. I have a disability which means I shouldn't lift much so body weight training seems to be a good idea. Any recommendations welcome!

waistchallenge · 25/06/2023 21:07

Congratulations on the little one @violetcuriosity 😍

@Whydoesnothingwork in my eating window a few sugary treats have snuck in over the weekend.

TBH I'm not sure what the rules are on that, maybe someone with more experience can comment.

I’d really like to join. I had a holiday coming up in six weeks and hoping to be down at least 14-18lbs. I’m not sure it’s possible though

Whydoesnothingwork · 25/06/2023 21:17

I think it works best if you try to cut out sugar and eat low carb.

HarpQuartet · 25/06/2023 21:33

I'm in please. I've only done 14:10 before but think it's going to need to be 16:8 to see progress. I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning. I started doing 20-30 mins pilates 6 days a week a few weeks ago and will keep that up.

Jennifer17 · 25/06/2023 21:34

Ladies I remember watching a programme on television ages ago about different types of diets. It was 2 doctors who presented it & they are twins. Anyhow 2 groups of people both eat the same amount of calories over a period of time but the group that consumed their calories during a certain window had better results. Something to keep us inspired 😀

Th1sisnotadrill · 25/06/2023 21:36

Yes please can I join in too?? Will weigh in in the morning! 🫣

waistchallenge · 25/06/2023 23:18

What's everyone planning during their eating window? Calorie counting, low carb, keto even or just eating as normal?

Just a reminder of some people who shouldn't do intermittent fasting:

Some people should steer clear of trying intermittent fasting:

Children and teens under age 18.
**
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

People with type 1 diabetes who take insulin. While an increasing number of clinical trials have shown that intermittent fasting is safe in people with type 2 diabetes, there have been no studies in people with type I diabetes. Mattson explains, “Because those with type I diabetes take insulin, there is a concern that an intermittent fasting eating pattern may result in unsafe levels of hypoglycemia during the fasting period.”

Those with a history of eating disorders.

I'm in. Keep thinking about trying 16/8 but then put off actually starting.

I'm happy to go without eating but can't cope without my morning coffees. Would that be cheating? I think I know the answer 😥

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 25/06/2023 23:27

Yay! Am in! Started 18:6 a few days and felt it was really working so will try again this week 😊

From what I’ve read you can have tea/coffee once there is so milk sugar (I have tea with lemon and read that was fine)

Ambi · 25/06/2023 23:33

I'm in. I've taken up exercising but now I need to sort my food out. Gillian McKeith would have a field day. I'm addicted to all unhealthy foods and drinks. Low carb and 16:8 going forward. Reset my MFP and fasting app.
