OK, my first attempt at a thread failed through my own fault, let's try again:

Limited duration because longer threads usually taper off. Ending the week beginning 24th of July, final weigh in/measurement Sunday the 30th (additional to the Thursday).

Weigh in or waist measurement Monday and Thursday. (I'm using waist measurement as I don't like weighing myself).

Using a recognised intermittent fasting schedule (e.g. 16/8, 5:2).

Optional exercise where possible, logged in the thread.

Starting tomorrow.

Is anyone up for slimming down in time for August?😀

Well I've had soup for lunch and home made curry for dinner but eyeing up the angel cake on the side with a cup of tea. Not good!

Agii · 26/06/2023 20:26

I am in.

I have an app for that, it you want to join my circle to keep track ?

I've been using the LIFE app to track my Intermittent Fasting. Join my fasting Circle! lifefastingtracker.app.link/aoA837b9WAb

Will keep me motivated seeing others progress !

waistchallenge · 26/06/2023 21:21

Quite a few people still missing from the first weigh/measure in. If people don't want to weigh/measure then just post what fasting schedule you'll be following, whether you'll be following a diet like low carb etc. and goals.

Stay strong @Diddykong !

Will be concentrating on low carb & minimal sugar. I make a hot chocolate drink by mixing cacao powder & almond milk. Tastes delicious & is great if I have a sugar craving 👍

MerryPenopause · 26/06/2023 21:28

Joining too! Need something to keep me accountable.

Today - 1st weigh in: 72.9kg
Current Size 12/14, aiming for a loose 12
IF schedule 16/8: todays meals @ 1pm and 6.30pm

Goal is to lose 1kg each week 🤞🏽for 5 weeks

itsmeagainagain · 26/06/2023 21:34

im in @waistchallenge and I love how you are counting down the weigh ins! I'm 5'6 and weigh 12 stone 10 (ish) need new scales. I am doing a minimum of 16/8 with mostly low carb - all the best everyone!

Diddykong · 26/06/2023 22:31

Well I ate the angel cake but overall I think I've done ok today. Did an hour of exercise which is unheard of as wfh long hours and it's v difficult to find time and I didn't eat until 1pm.

waistchallenge · 26/06/2023 22:35

1 hour of exercise is great! I also did an hour, too, which is longer than normal for me. I'd like to do one of those Youtube yoga/stretching things now but can't because the room is full of laundry! 🙄

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 26/06/2023 22:43

am 5-6 and a size 12 (or 10 m&s/boden)
doing 18:6 - from about 7-1
want to get to 10st (or a teeny bit under) before hols in august

Thanks for thread!

Nerv0usNewbie · 26/06/2023 22:47

I use Fastic app - just the free version. I’ve done IM for ages but have let it slide recently and back up to 11 stone (only 5’ 3”. It doesn’t seem to work unless I really keep on the water during the fasting window.

waistchallenge · 26/06/2023 22:59

@Nerv0usNewbie which fasting schedule (16:8, 1410 etc.) do you use? Yes, I've heard about the body eventually "getting used" to it. I read somewhere about people who cycle through different schedules to try and trick the body a bit. I'll look for the link and post it if I find it.

FrostBeDonePls · 26/06/2023 23:54

Hello,

Can I join? I have been doing IF since 10 days now, yet to see any results but i have drastically cut down my sugar intake
Fast:16:8 (works with my schedule of two under 6 kids, nursery and school runs and chaos!)
Weight:59.5 kgs
Height:5feet 2 inches
Waist : mot measured
Size: a tight 10 😑

I use Fastic app and done about 11,500 steps today acc to the app(had to go to work 😅)

I will weigh in tomorrow morning

My goal is to lose 5 kilos and my app calculates it to be achievable by Sept 🤷🏽‍♀️ i wont hold my breath but will try!

Good luck everyone

Bumblebeebum23 · 27/06/2023 07:37

Can I join please? I am a lot heavier than most on this thread but taking it day by day. First target is to lose a stone before I go on holiday at the end of August. Then I would like to be at my target weight by my sister's wedding next August (2024).

My weight has yoyoed my entire life so hoping this may be a bit my sustainable.

Current weight: 15st 5lbs
Target weight: 10st
Method:16:8

I usually eat fairly early in the evening anyway due to the kids, so I will just need to get used to not having breakfast before work.

waistchallenge · 27/06/2023 08:45

Welcome to the challenge @Bumblebeebum23 ! 🙂
I don't weight myself but I can guesstimate I was around your current weight last year. I don't think I'm 10 stone yet (I can tell without weighing because I would be a size 10 not a 12) but I'm sure with more concerted effort and without having had Christmas/New Year off + a brief illness earlier this year I could have been 10 stone. So I'm saying I think it's definitely do-able.

deadassjackie · 27/06/2023 10:22

I'm in - doing 16:8 and eating between 12 and 8. I'm eating 'normally' but have found I'm fuller quicker and am avoiding sweet stuff - just a piece of fruit. And I'm snacking less.

I've been doing it for about 6 days and weighed 70.1kg on Friday, and 70.5 this morning 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I feel less bloated. I'd like to lose 6kg.

FrostBeDonePls · 27/06/2023 11:01

Hello all,

3 minutes to 11am and time to end my fast 😁 I will start with my true love! -coffee and a handful of almonds!

For lunch, i will my kids leftover pasta(bland) with lots of rocket. I pick the smallest pasta bowl and fill it with the lunch portion and whatever greens i can find in my fridge!

Will have a handful of strawberries for snacks later before I do the school run

Hope every one is doing ok! Sorry i feel like i am posting too much but now i think if I post what i am going to eat, it keeps me in check and hopefully help someone follow my lead!

waistchallenge · 27/06/2023 11:39

@FrostBeDonePls Strawberries sounds delicious! If anyone's on a budget frozen berries are a good call, too.

@Whydoesnothingwork I ran out of milk and never went out for cream so I've started taking my coffee black and fasting properly almost by accident. As I've also ran out of coffee (got to go shopping!), my new discovery for today is that instant coffee seems to be more drinkable black for me than real coffee. Maybe it's because it's milder, it seems to be easier to stomach somehow. I'm having the Beanie's flavoured one. I can stick it out for a month.

violetcuriosity · 27/06/2023 11:55

Currently 18 hours into fasting! Going to try and hold off now until 'proper lunchtime' but feel pretty wired from 3 black coffees 🤣

Keep going everyone!

I started first on 15:9 and saw really good results - I lost a stone over the first year! I was pretty good about not drinking alcohol on an evening so I could start my fast after tea (around 6pm) which meant I could break the fast mid-late morning. I'm back at 11st again now though which I don't feel comfortable with. I have tried to go up to 16:8 to see if this made a difference but it's harder to stick to, especially if I end up having dinner into the evening - I can't make it to 3pm without any food! 😅

Why would you need to wait until 3pm if you're doing 16:8? You can fast between 7pm and 11am the next day.

Nerv0usNewbie · 27/06/2023 18:57

Tbh the 3pm thing was when I’d had a 9pm dinner after putting the kids to bed and finished a glass of wine at about 11pm… Anywho, I find I’m more consistent when I can break my fast at 11am-12pm.
