💪 5 week Intermittent Fasting challenge 💪

OK, my first attempt at a thread failed through my own fault, let's try again:

Limited duration because longer threads usually taper off. Ending the week beginning 24th of July, final weigh in/measurement Sunday the 30th (additional to the Thursday).

Weigh in or waist measurement Monday and Thursday. (I'm using waist measurement as I don't like weighing myself).

Using a recognised intermittent fasting schedule (e.g. 16/8, 5:2).

Optional exercise where possible, logged in the thread.

Starting tomorrow.

Is anyone up for slimming down in time for August?😀

I'm in too please!
Height 168cm weight 143lbs target 133lbs fasting 7pm to 11am.
Been fasting for a bit but weight is stuck and overeating in eating window. Hoping sharing on here will keep me accountable 😄

rockingbird · 27/06/2023 19:19

Me please.. been doing IF for a couple of weeks and need the accountability to continue.

Will do weight and measuring tomorrow am.
Currently doing IF 20/4 from 9pm - 5pm seems to suit me not to eat all day. Cutting down on carbs when I do eat and mindful of sugar intake. Drinking water and green tea throughout the day.

Good luck all..!

Whydoesnothingwork · 27/06/2023 20:27

Ah I see! Yeh I couldn't cope until 3pm!

Well done!

Drinking green tea on an empty stomach makes me feel so sick 🤢

HarpQuartet · 27/06/2023 20:48

Recording this one day late, but weigh-in 11 (using the countdown method) was yesterday:

Height 167cm
Weight 85.9kg
16:8 IF

While eating: nothing is off limits but I'll start with fruit and take a smaller piece of cake, that sort of thing. I eat lots of veggies so that's ok, will make the effort to have smaller portions of things I know don't do me any favours. 20-30 mins pilates 6 days a week.

WinchSparkle80 · 27/06/2023 21:02

Oh am in please. Am away end of July and need to do something.
I think 16;8 will be best… going to do my best to stop sugar (managing ok already) and reduced carbs

rockingbird · 27/06/2023 21:24

@violetcuriosity I feel the same about coffee. 🤢 I find the green tea is cleansing the system somewhat!

waistchallenge · 27/06/2023 23:17

Amazing to see so many new joiners!

It seems like, for some reason, a lot of us don't have that much to lose but just need a bit of a boost/concerted effort.

Who exercised today? I went for a bike ride, had planned on doing a Youtube workout but there just wasn't time.

waistchallenge thanks for keeping it going! Trying to do a joe wicks vid in the morn before work and get 10k steps every day

18-6 still going strong. Feel so much less bloated in the morning it’s incredible

Ambi · 28/06/2023 08:53

Happy news on the scales this morning, I'm a couple of lbs down this week. It's been really good to notice the hunger.
I have brunch anywhere from 11 to 1pm, when I'm hungry. Eating high meat content sausage, scrambled egg and bagel thin.
Dinner is 5 to 7pm, normal meal but smaller portion. If I'm hungry an hour later, I have an apple. So far so good.

Apart from me! I need to lose at least 20lbs 😫

Agii · 28/06/2023 08:59

I am about 68 kg and 175 cm - ideally want to be back to 65/66 kg to lose some belly and thighs. I've been sugary treats free for 40 days and now I need to stay focused with 16:8 to shift the weight. I'll try to measure myself if i find a tape :)

Good luck Ladies! It's more than just weight loss, you will have more energy 🤩

Whydoesnothingwork · 28/06/2023 09:13

Another pound down! I've really earnt that this week!
Now 149lb, I've got 16lb to lose.

waistchallenge · 28/06/2023 09:16

Guys, weigh/measure-in isn't until tomorrow.

Yes, for various reasons. Firstly because weighing or measuring every day is too frequent to reflect progress and could even be harmful/obsessive. And if the updates come in dribs and drabs from everyone then it's harder to see progress and we're not all joining in together for a weigh-in. Less importantly, another reason is that what we are doing is set out in the first post and since so many people have joined it makes sense to have a bit of order and stick to what's been said, there's lost of other threads already where you can post random updates but this is a five week challenge. I would have just joined one of those support threads rather than starting this one if I wanted to post every day, they have their own strengths but this is about making a targeted and organised effort.

It is a bit harsh but the whole thing is harsh by its nature tbh.

Count me in!
I will be doing 16:8. I do not count calories but I generally cut down all sugar and a lot of carbs. Exercise will be mainly long walks with my daughter and Tom Daley's 6 minute abs & bum exercises.

I will do weigh in tomorrow. In terms of goals I'd love to loose ~5 kg.

FightingTheFlabberghast · 28/06/2023 15:47

Can I join? :)

I’ll be doing 23:4. Water only during fasts.
I’m not going to weigh at all as I find it so disheartening. I “put on” 11lbs two days before my last period. 11lbs! I was so upset I broke out the Cadbury’s and gave up. It was pre menstrual weight.

Hoping to lose a stone in 5 weeks.

waistchallenge · 28/06/2023 19:25

Do you mean 20:4, @FightingTheFlabberghast ? 🤔

Hilfe · 28/06/2023 19:38

I'm in! I'm a balloon in my summer dresses and need to sort it out

FrostBeDonePls · 28/06/2023 20:05

Went more than my 16hr fast without realising, so its a plus!
I may have overeaten today 😬, lets see on weigh in day, thats tomorrow?

I am now liking the taste of coffee and tea without sugar, and realised peppermint tea taste amazing 🙃

Now that I am off sugar(felt like a total rehab thing!) i am not craving it during non-fast hours.

Almost two weeks in and i dont feel tired now, just routine

waistchallenge · 28/06/2023 21:01

As there's still lots of people joining, to anyone new you've missed weigh/measure-in 11 which was Monday, the next one is tomorrow and we copied the format of @UpUpUpU 's post:

Ok, I have done my stats as my starting point. I am 5ft 2in so do not carry my apple shape well!

72.2kg (BMI 28.2)
body fat 33.7%
waist 35in
hips 41in

in the 5 weeks I’d like to lose 3kg, get my body fat below 30 and lose a couple of inches off my waist.

probably going to start 18:6 and try and eat lowish carb.

i.e. giving height and weight, waist circumference if using, which intermittent fasting schedule you'll use and how you plan to eat in your eating window (low carb/calorie counting etc.), plus exercise and any other goals. New people can add this tomorrow instead.

If anyone's got issues with weighing/measuring just post without those or do something like pick a piece of clothing and describe how it's fitting instead.
