I've really let myself go and I am sick of feeling so bad.

Starting tomorrow.

I'm focusing to much on food now and ending up eating more than I normally would

Calorie intake came to about 1800 but I didn't eat after 6 pm because I was really full and very tired

I think by avoiding too many carbs I just end up eating too much in the other direction

I'm sad to because so many summer clothes don't fit properly at the moment

It's my incentive to lose weight and I don't know why it's so hard but to lose weight you have to really lower your cal intake significantly.

I don't mind the hunger pangs so much but I think still having DC in the house doesn't help because there's so much other food I have keep around the house.

waistchallenge · 17/05/2023 08:35

@HappiDaze there is still time between now and the proper summer to get in those clothes! That's what I'm telling myself, anyway!

BeastOfBODMAS · 17/05/2023 08:52

I will be on my 5th day streak of not mindlessly binge eating today and writing everything down. I think I’m going to aim for at least 2 weeks to set the ‘habit’ of sensible nourishing food. Then maybe set a calorie goal and start tweaking portions once it’s not all so emotionally charged.

@Bananarepublic We're trying to target abdominal fat in the waist slimming thread I started, if you want to join.

Could you post a link to this. Thanks

Me starting today. Heaviest i"ve been and seem to be able to put on a kilo with just one day of relaxed eating and no exercise.

Am going to try intermittent fasting today - first meal after a walk with a neighbour.

I lasted two days on it last week then gave in and had breakfast but am going to be stricter this week!

Thank you I needed those words of encouragement

Had a very eggy lunch, bigger than my usual portion and somehow this has kept me going until 6pm without my usual 3pm slump or the desire to ram-raid the corner shop for Freddo Frogs. Note to self, eat proper meals, especially eggs....

Eggs have an excellent (eggcellant?) fat and protein profile and no carbs. Find out other things with the same profile, and eat those. They will all keep you full in the same way. This is the secret to losing weight comfortably, without being hungry.

HappiDaze · 17/05/2023 14:36

I've just walked 3606 steps and will walk the same back again

I'm a hot sweaty mess but I feel much better for it.

It's quite warm once you get going

I haven't eaten since breakfast which was some of last nights leftovers and was about 567 calories including tea, coffee and milk

I'm not really hungry and as I'll be a hotter and sweatier mess when I get home I'll make a nice big salad 🥗 of lettuce and cucumber with Pizza Express house dressing and take it from there

HappiDaze · 17/05/2023 16:12

Had a lovely walk back and have just finished my salad with 3 chopped up meatballs and some fresh slightly shrivelled basil leaves and a cup of tea

HappiDaze · 17/05/2023 16:14

There were lots of us fatties around and everyone looked very nice actually in all their various outfits

It made me feel much better about myself because actually we all just looked fine really albeit slightly large

Tigerlilz · 17/05/2023 18:21

Weighed myself today and was happy to weigh in at 10st 7lbs (so lost 3 lbs since Monday morning). I have to weigh every couple of days to ensure I don't slip up.

This has been down to drinking 3 litres of water a day, going on my treadmill for 30 minutes every morning plus generally upping my steps, and from eating very healthily (lots of protein, fruit and veggies and avoiding most processed foods).

I'm well aware I'm losing water weight at the moment but feeling quite motivated and good in myself.

JaneBeyre · 17/05/2023 19:03

tigerlilz 3lb is so good. I have somehow put on that since the start of the week, been sick so not exercising and too close to the fridge.
Today have calorie counted, been for a 5K walk and won't eat now until 11am tomorrow so hopefully will see a shift below 70kg. Will remember to drink more water, I always forget.

ILoveNigelTufnel · 17/05/2023 19:16

I’ve started today. Doing Slimfast as a kickstart and trying to exercise 3 times a week (or more if I can). Need to do something, no idea what I weigh but I look and feel awful, my skin is yuck and I’ve lost my sparkle. This is my mission to get it back…

PhoenixArisen · 17/05/2023 20:48

10k steps done today.
Food was ok though I had a large jacket potato with tuna mayo for dinner.

Other food was
Lentil soup and spinach
Banana, apple
Peanut butter
Slice of cheese

Seem to be having a hungry day.

Giselletheunicorn · 17/05/2023 21:21

Been a tough one today as close colleagues leaving do at work so lots of booze, pizza etc. Had anticipated this so had very healthy salad for lunch. But the extra cals still might count against me. Going back to the gym tomorrow...

Choufleuretbattenberg · 17/05/2023 21:48

Watchkeys · 16/05/2023 14:43

You won't. When your body stops expecting regular carb hits, it will start to learn to use its fat for energy, and it won't have such a desperate demand for you to eat.

You're not planning to eat this way every day though, are you? Nobody can be healthy with this sort of thing as a regular diet. What was your low cal meal? If it was ready made, and you keep this up, you'll soon be medically malnourished.

No, not going to eat like this every day- but aiming for 2 days a week like this and 1500 cals the other days.
Not weighing myself until Monday and hoping there will be a difference, no matter how small.

misspositivepants · 17/05/2023 22:06

Ended the day on 1700 calories again over what I’m aiming for, but about 80% fresh nutrient dense foods, getting into the routine of logging and choosing whole foods is the key at the moment.

12k steps also completed! It’s funny I used to have a goal of 8k steps a day and I barely could meet that. Up it to 10k and I’ve exceeded it every day!

MegCleary · 18/05/2023 06:52

Am 10/5 on weight this morning. It’s just water weight but motivating me a bit. Ready brek, cheese and lettuce wrap for lunch and scampi and chips dinner👍

HollyGolightly4 · 18/05/2023 07:13

14/8. Deserved to have stagnated really. Finding this week tough- can anyone offer any ways to motivate myself? I don't know if it's a hormone slump or if it's general fatigue. Thanks.

HappiDaze · 18/05/2023 07:49

I need to get into the habit of a small portion of a normal meal with a nice big salad to go with it

I'll be making a goulash later with rice and large salad for dinner

HappiDaze · 18/05/2023 07:53

I finished on around 1700 cals yesterday which is not going to help me lose any weight. Biscuits and sweets snuck in because they always do when I start a diet I get a raging sweet tooth and all willpower just evaporates

HappiDaze · 18/05/2023 08:21

Off to do a long walk to where my meeting is instead of getting the bus and then walk back again

mehtivation · 18/05/2023 09:27

Done well with no crisps, alcohol or desserts. Sensible dinners with a lot of veg and protein and fewer carbs. Made time for 20 mins walk first thing today in advance of spending most of the day in the car or sitting.

I feel good and think I might do a waist measurement and maybe weigh on Sunday and try to track a bit of progress

Giselletheunicorn · 18/05/2023 10:24

Some trousers are definitely feeling looser today - feeling positive!
