Accountability - 5 Stone to lose

392 replies

SugarAddict101 · 30/01/2023 11:09

Hi,

I'm starting back on a healthy regime today, I was going to start on the 1st, but seize the day and all that.

Got on the scales this morning and am 206.2 lbs 😣

I'd like to get to 130 lbs so have around 5st/74 lbs to lose.

Feel free to join me but I aim to post daily to keep myself on track. I'm going to go low carb, maybe do an 8 hour eating window and keep a small eye on calories. I have gym membership but haven't been for a while, and also exercise witha friend a couple of times a week.

@SugarAddict101
Sorry you are still poorly.
But on the bright side you are 4lbs down from last Wednesday!

SugarAddict101 · 08/02/2023 16:29

Yes!

I've got 14 weeks today until my work event so I'm on it from tomorrow, I'm practically better now so no real excuse not to pull my finger out.

How is everyone else doing?

Diddelydi · 09/02/2023 08:18

@SugarAddict101

14 weeks, you could lose 2 stone 🤞

StampOnTheGround · 09/02/2023 08:31

Hello! Can I join please? This yo-yo'ing has to stop!

Currently: 195lbs
Goal: 138lbs

57lbs to lose

Would like to get as close as I can to that by my 30th in the middle of August.

Got a few events along the way (including weekends away) so I really need to stay on it for the rest of the time!

Good luck everyone 😊

SugarAddict101 · 09/02/2023 09:57

Welcome @StampOnTheGround

202.1 this morning. I have 70.1 lbs to go. I reckon I can make a big enough dent in that by my trip, yes @Diddelydi 💪

Plans for today is 2 meal replacement shakes made with soy milk (Soy is good once you are post-meno apparently) and for dinner I might have some boquerones fritos for protein, with aubergine & courgette & mushrooms.

I'm also going to stop having normal tea and switch to green tea. I'll aim for 5 or 6 a day, I read once that you need at least 5 a day to get the full benefits.

And I'll try to hit my 2l a day again, that dropped off a bit while I was ill.

Diddelydi · 09/02/2023 10:04

@TaRaDeBumDeAy
Is this you @SugarAddict101 🤣😂

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 09/02/2023 10:09

Yes it is 🙄😂 I wanted to keep this thread to itself but hey ho.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 10/02/2023 09:21

I had a good day yesterday. I had a shake at lunch and courgette, aubergine, padron peppers with a dollop of (homemade) curry on top. I was a bit snacky later though so had a frikadellen and a tiny bit of cheese. Managed 5 green teas and nearly 2L water.

200.1 lbs today.

Hows everyone else doing?

Candletow · 10/02/2023 09:25

Sounds like you're doing great OP! I lost 6 stone back in 2017 and have been maintaining since, best thing I ever did but bloody hard at the start! Personally I'd say take it a day at a time, plan meals (as you have been doing) and don't get disheartened if you've been on plan but not losing; it's definitely not linear but the weight loss usually catches up over a month or so. I saw the best results when I switched from focusing on losing weight because I disliked being overweight to wanting my body to be healthy and in better shape for positive reasons.

Good luck! You can do this.

Diddelydi · 10/02/2023 09:50

Good morning all.
Yesterday's menu:
Protein shake
Hummus and ryvita
Creamy garlic chicken, coconut rice, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots.

All delicious 😋

Good luck 🍀 everyone.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 10/02/2023 10:53

Thanks @Candletow I lost a lot, nearly 4 stone a year or so ago but 3 stone has crept back on. I am determined not to let that happen again. As clothes get too big this time I'm going to get rid of them, otherwise its too easy to creep up without noticing too much. If I'm getting to the point where I'd have to go out and buy the next size, I can check myself and reign it in.

Your dinner sounds delicious @Diddelydi

I need to decide what to have for dinner tonight. I've still got 1/2 a courgette, half an aubergine, a few green peppers - the long ones not bell peppers, mushrooms to use up.

I want to make another curry. Its really cold where I am at the moment so I can't face salad.

EmmaEmerald · 10/02/2023 11:05

May I join, are we supposed to put in our day's food?

My situation is about 4 stone but that's to get to max weight for my height. 5 stone is more appropriate.

I have never yo-yo dieted, just failed at it and got bigger and bigger.

I've done a healthy shop this morning. I had a lurgy this week and ate much less but lost no weight, probably due to the content of what I ate.

This morning's shop included rice cakes, never tried them before. I keep looking at them like an alien landed in the house.

I find protein shakes helpful, people seem to balk at them but I figure two a day is going to be better than what I currently eat, as I've gotten this big with my current habits.

Even when I stick to a diet, I don't seem to lose weight. So the main objective is to see the scales move and lose my taste for sugar.

Diddelydi · 10/02/2023 11:16

@SugarAddict101
The creamy garlic chicken recipe is from the first PON book, have you seen these?
It's lovely - only 187 calories!

Diddelydi · 10/02/2023 11:17

@EmmaEmerald
Welcome 😊

I put my food on just to keep me in check.

Good luck 🍀

Welcome :) If you don't lose when dieting you might have issues with insulin.

What do you eat when you diet usually?

My unchecked diet is like a starved kid at a birthday party in a sweetshop. I find meal replacements much easier too, it takes the choice and temptation out of the equation, and has clear boundaries. I did Exante a few years ago and that really works if you stick to it properly. Once what I have in is gone, I might do full meal replacements for a while.

EmmaEmerald · 10/02/2023 13:40

Thank you everyone

Tara "What do you eat when you diet usually?"

um....good question. I think I don't know, because I've never really succeeded at all.

I have talked a lot about the past weight stuff on MN but now I just want to move on, so I'm not bothered about examining past failures.

I choose what to eat and I have to make better choices.

I do find the detail of diets really boring, having a protein shake for breakfast is handy in that way. I'm trying to think about food less, but I recognise I need to be accountable, so will post at the end of the day and keeping a note in my diary.

I'd really like to be able to fast, for the discipline. Perhaps I'll aim for that in summer. It seems unimaginable, I can't lie.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 10/02/2023 14:44

I thought that but now I can do 5-7 days pretty easily. I started with Intermittent, and every other day and then eventually moved up to 24 hours, then 3 days, then went to 5 days whenI stil wasn't hungry at the end of 3 days, did the same with 5 days and ended up doing 7, I used to do them regulalry for the health bens.

Diddelydi · 10/02/2023 15:08

@SugarAddict101 @EmmaEmerald
Do you mean proper fasting or the 500 cal per day?

Wait
you can fast for that long?

I'm thinking to start gently with a 500 cal day in spring! I tried it before, did a couple of days, hated it.

I'd like to fast for a day, I wasn't aiming for 5. I know a few people who seem to just be able to eat when it's convenient, they are slim etc, the key thing seems to be they can go ages without food. I think OMAD must be ideal, saves time and the mental energy of food.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 10/02/2023 16:08

I started with 500 per day and moved up to full water fasts. I haven't done one for a while, but a 3 day water fast every so often can be good for you. You get into proper autophagy at just before 3 days iirc.

When I fast I don't actually feel hungry.

And you used to be overweight? I am in awe!

i was very hungry so ate early.

so today was
protein shake

rice cake for a snack - weird but okay

salmon and salad

chicken, veggies with a handful of pasta (leftovers, was made with a tomato sauce)
natural yogurt and blueberries

I've also had two black coffees, (in contrast with usual milk and two sugars).

somehow, I think I'll be hungry later - which is mad as that's a decent amount of food.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 10/02/2023 23:10

😂 no I am overweight again. 5 St overweight.
