Friday weigh in club!

choc27 · 02/01/2023 20:51

Anyone fancy joining me in weighing every Friday and posting our progress? I will also post what exercise I have managed that week.
I need somewhere to be accountable! Ideas for meals would be good to share as we go along too.
I have around a stone to lose and am aiming for 1lb a week loss. I will be loosely calorie counting.

Firstly well done on all your losses!

Unfortunately it's not been the case for me! I've gained 2lbs!!!! How is that even possible? I have kept below 1200 calories all week buy even then they were closer to 1000. I log everything religiously and I'm not kidding myself 🤷🏼‍♀️. I'm walking 6miles a day at a swift pace too. I want to cry, it worked so well for me before. I'll keep going as I hope it's just my body playing tricks but it's so disheartening. I felt so good, definitely felt I'd lost but alas no. Grrrr.

Starting weight- 10st 11 (5ft 9)

Week 1- 10st 13. +2lb 😱😭

First Target- 10 St O

End Target- 9st 6

choc27 · 20/01/2023 15:55

@FlutterbButterfly when did you weigh? Was it first thing in the morning? If I've eaten before I weigh it changes things.
@catsandkid thanks for that reassurance. I know and hope that is probably the case. I've taken some measurements now so will keep track of that too.

This is why weighing once a week is a terrible idea! You need to weigh every day and take your lowest weight for the week. Otherwise you can't account for fluctuations due to water weight, hormones, food volume, salty foods etc. Jordan Syatt recently documented a month of fat loss and showed all his fluctuations and it's insane. Even worse for women!

FlutterbButterfly · 20/01/2023 16:21

@pipicklesandtea , whilst 8 do understand this (I do!) I successfully lost 4 stone four years ago using the same methods, weighing weekly etc. Im not sure I could cope with fluctuations either. I have had a bad relationship with food since I was 18 (eating disorder) and now suffer from disordered eating. I'm OK and was in a good place this week, fingers crossed fir next week.

FlutterbButterfly · 20/01/2023 16:25

@choc27 , I weighed at 2pm which historically is my lightest time of day. I know that normally a morning weigh in before breakfast is nest for most. I weighed same te last week, same routine. I'll see how I go next week but may have to try something else.

Good start!

BrewandBiscuit · 20/01/2023 19:25

Please can I join? Gained about 8kg in the last year. Partly due to medication but also due to eating too much and being lazy! Bought some new scales today and weighed in at 70.8kg (was 63kg this time last year). BMI is 27.7 and calculator suggests 64kg would just tip me into the healthy category. I don't personally think I could get back to that though. Perimenopause is a bitch! So am aiming for 66kg to start.

choc27 · 20/01/2023 19:47

@BrewandBiscuit welcome!
Great job @ButteryNuts. That's a great loss.
I'm hitting the gym hard in the morning. Determined to see better results!
How is everyone's eating going on a Friday night?! I just ate about 1000 calories of pizza! But I did go for a swim today so hoping it will be ok.

@Harrysmummy246 you and I appear on so many of these threads with identical advice!!

CottonSock · 21/01/2023 08:10

I found your thread last night whilst kids were in bath. You inspired me to download my fitness Pal.. I'm doing ok but need to try harder. It's so hard to lose, despite giving up wine which is my own downfall.

Gained a stone in a year after a tricky spell at home.
1st Jan was 10 stone 5. At 5 foot 1 that's overweight and none of my clothes fit.

Got a Fitbit for Christmas and the improvement in my resting heart rate already has spurred me on.
Really need to be around 9stone by summer. I am not willing to do a restricted diet so know it will take time.

Currently at 9.13.5 but the first fit came off quick as most water (wine bloat).

So first day of logging what I actually eat and portions.

choc27 · 21/01/2023 09:43

Good luck @CottonSock with your logging today!

CottonSock · 21/01/2023 11:20

Thanks choc. I've already discovered that my breakfast of choice is adding 500 calories. I know it needed to change!
Will be following for ideas.

catsandkid · 21/01/2023 18:44

An okay Saturday on plan.

Breakfast - Exante shake
Lunch - soup and low cal crisps
Dinner - bacon and butternut squash risotto with yog for pudding.

Have been picking a bit today - a Lindor truffle choc, 1/4 of kids toast slice and a chicken dipper off the kids' leftovers! Have added it all onto Nutracheck and ending day at 1,400cals which is okay (though I prefer to stick to 1,200)

Went for 35min treadmill run earlier too... hoping that helps offset some of the picking!!!

choc27 · 21/01/2023 18:47

One of my better Saturdays but still not brill.
Protein porridge
Eggs on potatoes waffles
Frozen Battered fish and oven chips, bread and butter
2 x g&t

OP posts:
goldenbag · 21/01/2023 21:25

Hmm not a great day for me. 45 minutes swim and lots of steps (15,000) but also ate about 500 cals worth of chocolate 🍫 ConfusedBlush

Sitoff · 21/01/2023 21:57

Oops weighed myself and forgot to say here 9 stone 2 again yesterday. Happy enough as not drunk anything this month so hard enough keeping that up.
Well done everyone else.

choc27 · 22/01/2023 10:36

What's everyone's plan for today?
I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, took the kids swimming instead. So will go later.
Food plan is this:
Protein porridge
Tuna sandwich
Fish pie
Protein shake after the gym.
1438 cals

catsandkid · 22/01/2023 13:26

Find it so much harder at weekends! Still within my calories but probs not making the most nutritious choices!

Breakfast- rice cake with peanut butter and a fibre one bar
Lunch - soup and packet of crisps
Dinner - will be sticky chicken with noodles and yog for pudding.

Feeling a bit cold infested today so might have a day off working out or opt for a slow walk instead!

goldenbag · 22/01/2023 16:49

Been out walking most of the day but not very fast! I'm within my calorie allowance but not very heathy!

Homemade pancakes with no topping for breakfast (4 small pancakes)
Small salami and gherkin roll on walk (261 cals)
Don't know what for dinner!

IHeartGeneHunt · 22/01/2023 16:53

Can I join in? I'm a LOT bigger than you all (17 stone 1) lost 1lb this week. Down 15lbs since Christmas Day.
I'm aiming for a pound a week, I want to be 14 stone. I'm 5"10.

autienotnaughty · 22/01/2023 16:55

Initial weight 12.5 stone
Last Friday 12.4 stone

choc27 · 22/01/2023 17:27

Welcome @IHeartGeneHunt !
Hope you are feeling better @catsandkid .
Good loss @autienotnaughty

So back to work tomorrow, easier to be good with food at work!! 4 days til weigh in.

Just posting to keep myself accountable!

Scales this morning showing +1lb from Friday. Rahhh - hate weight fluctuations!

Breakfast - Exante Shake (200 cals)
Lunch- Soup, 2 rice cakes with 1 tsp peanut butter (274 cals)
Dinner - Crispy potatoes and rogan josh (595 cals - HelloFresh meal) with yog (63 cals)

Still feeling snuffly and meh, but did a kickboxing class from Youtube this morning and went for a very short (and bloody freezing!) short walk at lunch.
