Friday weigh in club!

choc27 · 02/01/2023 20:51

Anyone fancy joining me in weighing every Friday and posting our progress? I will also post what exercise I have managed that week.
I need somewhere to be accountable! Ideas for meals would be good to share as we go along too.
I have around a stone to lose and am aiming for 1lb a week loss. I will be loosely calorie counting.

Thank you!
@lightinthemirrorstormyoutside I'm sticking to around 1600 calories a day, using a lot of Louise Parker recipes because they're really nice and very filling. Cut out sugary things (I'm terrible for biscuits) and replaced with a few cashews or a Babybel.
My problem is I love cooking and I don't eat junk food, I just eat a lot in general! What I'm doing now is keeping me full but I'm having to be strict with myself over boredom eating.

choc27 · 28/01/2023 17:24

Ahhh why is the weekend so hard!! I've lost it already!

I'm going to stick with last week's eating plan as it worked well but wary I don't get 'bored'.

Very strict Sunday to Thursday. I'll have a protein shake as Brunch then a good but low calorie dinner. Fruit for something sweet. Once I'm in the zone I'm OK but it takes some doing. Dinners include- Pasta with homemade sauce, olives and cheese all portion controlled. 5 egg omelette with a choice of filling, bulked out with the MN mountain of salad. Riast Chicken Wraps.Chicken caesar salad- well using lighter than light Mayo. Egg Mayo on homemade bread. Jacket Potato with low fat Cottage Cheese or philly. Soup, French onion/minestrone/Veg can have a couple of tins in one sitting. I come in at around 1000- 1200 cals on these days.

Friday I'll have a homemade meal that I don't measure/worry about calories but only eat until I'm full. Saturday I'll have a takeaway and wine.

I'm not a snacker and because of my working pattern thus plan is not that tricky for me. I'm always full after eating and only ever feel normal hunger before a meal certainly not starving.

What plans are others using, what works for you? I only ever lose weight on quite restricted calories. To maintain I still have to be under 1500 calories and I'm relatively tall and active 🤷🏼‍♀️

catsandkid · 29/01/2023 13:55

I'm still going, despite my gain on Fridays weigh in (which I'm still livid about as I haven't even cheated once!)

Yesterday did a lovely long run outside of the 8.5k. I'm keen to get up to 10k and I know I physically can do it but mentally I get bored half way round! Feeling a lot fitter which I'm happy about!

Todays menu:
Breakfast - skipped. But had 2 digestive biscuits at a play date.
Lunch - veg soup and low cal crisps
Dinner - pork Thai soup with noodles.

FlutterbButterfly · 29/01/2023 14:07

@catsandkid , I gained 2lb week 1 and 8d stuck to my plan religiously. I was incredibly disappointed too but week 2 I was down 4lb. I think you'll see a drop in the next week or so.

catsandkid · 29/01/2023 16:37

@FlutterbButterfly Thank you! I lost 2.5lbs in the first week which is a lot for me as I'm typically a slow loser (only need to lose 8lbs or so and the last bit is always tough!). So I think this week was it evening out. Hoping I get a loss next week.

.... am tempted to take measurements to see if I'm getting leaner but then think it's just another thing to worry over!

choc27 · 29/01/2023 16:40

After a bad eating Friday and Saturday I've been better today.
Breakfast super grains protein thingy
Lunch avocado on slice of brown toast with 2 poached eggs
Snack protein shake
Dinner roast with loads of veg.

Been to the gym today too.
Yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought really. Had McDonald's for lunch but calorie wise it could have been worse.
I've planned all my meals in advance for the week on MFP. Trying to up my protein too.

IHeartGeneHunt · 29/01/2023 17:15

Today:
Home made granary bread with 2 bacon medallions, a hard boiled egg and Louise Parker tomato chutney

Split Pea Soup, granary bread, a Babybel, an apple and a satsuma

Dinner- beef and barley stew from the Betty Crocker 300 calorie book, with 100g mash, sprouts, and a sugar free jelly.

1641 calories.

FlutterbButterfly · 30/01/2023 09:42

I'm not working today, I've had a cuppa and now I'm off out taking the dog for a looong walk. I'll have a protein shake when I get back. Then housework, lucky me! Going to do the big weekly shop with DH this evening and have Pesto pasta on the menu for tonight. I should come in around 1100 call today.

What are all your plans?

catsandkid · 30/01/2023 16:43

Exercise - 30mins areobics

Breakfast - Exante protein shake (200)
Lunch - Laska soup, crisps, yog (334)
Dinner - Thai Basil Chicken with Rice (440), yog for pud (70)
Snack - FibreOne bar (88)

Should end on about 1,150 cals

Anyone have any inspiring and filling low cal lunches? I find my go-to is soup or salmon and veg... but neither is that easy to grab and take away if I'm in the office or working away from my home.

Anyone tried protein bars instead of shakes? I got a Grenade bar from the shop at the weekend and ewww it had such an odd texture! Are others nicer? I like my shakes as I do find they really fill you up.... I just don't know if a bar would fill me up as much, but would be far more convenient for office-based days!

choc27 · 30/01/2023 18:37

Today's cals 1334
Overnight oats
Meal replacement
Protein yogurt
Chicken stroganoff, mash, broccoli

@catsandkid I really struggle with lunches too, which is why I have given up and just take a meal shake!

Amelia891 · 30/01/2023 18:50

@catsandkid I am a Grenade bar fan. They are a funny chewy texture but you get used to them. Cookie dough and white choc are my fave. They’re ideal when you’re craving something sweet, although often I only have half at a time as I do find them a bit sickly.

choc27 · 30/01/2023 20:43

Anyone having problems with MFP tonight? It's logged me out. Won't recognise my password or accept my email address for a password reset.

Grenade bars are one of the better protein bars imo but they are higher in cals than a shake and definitely not as filling

FlutterbButterfly · 31/01/2023 13:45

I've not tried protein bars, more because they look tiny and I can't imagine they'll keep you going in the same way shakes do- they are quite alot of calories.

I've completed a 5 mile swift dog walk- really enjoyed it today. Earpods in, crisp sunny morning and countryside all around.

Just has my shake in front if the TV. I'll have a cuppa too then I'm going to tackle my filthy dirty car so bucket and soap at the ready.

Omelettes for dinner tonight, husbands joining in too as he was impressed by one I made last week. It does use alot of eggs though as needs to be substantial as ots my main meal, luckily I've been able to get hold of a few boxes during the shortage.

Have a good day all.

FlutterbButterfly · 01/02/2023 09:32

Started the day with a cuppa then quick walk (2 miles) with the dog. Off to work shortly, double shift but can come home between the two. Will have my protein shake then. Chicken Caesar salad on the menu tonight and lots of fruit. Going slightly hard core tues- Thursday (1000 cal ish), Sunday and Monday I aim for 1200. Friday and Saturday I don't count and have what I like within reason.

What are people upto today?

catsandkid · 01/02/2023 10:53

Yesterday I ate over my allotted calories I suspect as I was at work and the grains salad and coleslaw from the canteen is likely packed with more cals than I expect. Will still be in a deficit but not a large one at all, only 200 cals or so under according to my Apple Watch! Didn't manage a workout yesterday as my office based days are really long and full of meetings.

Today started the day with a 6k run. Am having lunch with a friend today (probs avocado on toast or something) so have skipped brek/my normal shake to save up some calories for lunch out. Drinking lots of water and decaf tea to fill me up until then!

Finally seeing a tiny bit of movement on the scales when I hopped on today - lets hope it sticks and it doesn't go back up again!

IHeartGeneHunt · 01/02/2023 10:59

I had a bad day at work yesterday and fell off the diet wagon with a tube of Pringles and some chocolate chip cookies, back on it today.
No work today.
Two boiled eggs, granary bread and a Babybel for breakfast
The end of the split pea soup, bread and an apple at lunch
Beef and barley stew, and banana and custard for dinner- about 1590 calories I think.

I was 16.12lbs yesterday so very happy!

FlutterbButterfly · 01/02/2023 13:58

I very very occasionally hit the self destruct button sometimes a few times I a row but no point beating ourselves up over it. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go again. We've got this! I also can't open a tube of pringles without finishing them so I always make sure others are around so at least I share 😂

CottonSock · 01/02/2023 16:26

I stuck at it despite the scales going up last week. Normally I would think whats the point and give in. Now finally coming down..counting calories for the first time I'm my life has really helped (and no wine).
8lbs down in January. A stone to go.

choc27 · 01/02/2023 18:30

Everyone is doing so well!
I've done OK today
Overnight oats and berries
Meal replacement shake and banana
Chicken fajitas and a few chips.
Some mini chocolate brownies
About 1500 cals

Missed the gym last night as I was exhausted. Will go tomorrow instead.

OP posts:
IHeartGeneHunt · 02/02/2023 09:40

16.11lbs this morning! Delighted with that.
Busy today so it's:
Porridge and raisins
Wetherspoons vegan curry
Tofu in chilli and garlic sauce with lots of veg
Banana and custard. ( I make up four little pots full and have one a day.)
1541 calories ish.

Spirini · 02/02/2023 13:49

That's v similar to me yesterday @choc27

Coffee for breakfast
Overnight oats

Dinner - pasta - v carb heavy but I suppose the protein shake balances the day out
Low cal chocolate drink with teaspoon of cocoa added

Today is;
Overnight oats with extra whole meal
Weetabix to warm me up
Probably have a shake mid afternoon
Dinner of Chinese stew
