Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

iamloading · 31/12/2022 18:58

Hello! I lost 2 stone this year but put a stone back on, so need to get back on the wagon!

I joined slimming world which has helped but I'm not not looking forward to how busy it will be in the new year!

whataboutism · 31/12/2022 19:00

Just to show support. I have to loose my pregnancy weight. Thumbs up everyone.

ChocolateTea · 31/12/2022 19:00

me. I lost 21kg at beginning of year but through various reasons have put most of it back on. I need to lose about 2.5 stone. I’ve rejoined the gym as movement really helps me and I’m going to restart MFP this week as well.

Hotsweatymomspagetti · 31/12/2022 19:01

Yes I need to loose around 10kg or even better 13kg but my target is 10kg

Atomsaway · 31/12/2022 19:40

Hello! I need to lose around 2.5 stone, so I’ll join you.

However, I’m trying not to focus on the weight loss as such and hoping it will be a positive side effect of a healthier lifestyle. I am not going to weigh myself after tomorrow.

For so many years, I have obsessed with losing weight and have been unsuccessful. I lose weight ridiculously slowly, and as a result I just give up after a while.

A recent blood test revealed that my cholesterol is on the high side. That, along with a close friend (same age) having a serious cancer health scare, I now really need to act.

My plan is to take part in Veganuary as there is lots of online support and encouragement.

What is everyone else doing?

Sneakyblinders · 31/12/2022 19:45

Can I join? I needed to lose 2.5 stone earlier this year but is probably 3 stone now.

I'm on holiday next week so planning on starting second week of January.

Can anyone recommend an app? I've done WW before but don't want to pay ideally!

BernardsBum · 31/12/2022 19:48

Hello, I'll join you too. I did Slimming World a few years ago and lost just over 2 stone. I've put nearly all of it back on.
I can't face Slimming World again, so I like the idea of eating more healthily. I too have high cholesterol, so plan to seriously reduce the amount of processed rubbish, and the butter and cheese (😩). I've also agreed with DD that we'll eat less meat.

tulips27 · 31/12/2022 19:48

Slightly less to lose (I think/hope) but would LOVE a support group. I've noticed they often start off strng but break down, though. How can it be kept going?

iamloading · 31/12/2022 19:56

I'm going to weigh myself because I find it motivating. Every Monday morning is my plan.
I know what you mean about threads like this starting strong then dying a death. Putting my pragmatic hat on dieting is bloody hard so the very nature of the beast means a lot of people will sadly give up.
Very much hoping I won't be one of them so maybe come feb we could do a WhatsApp group for those still going strong?! Just an idea.
I've got a holiday with a group of very skinny, sporty friends booked in august and looking like I do now I'd feel so ashamed and uncomfortable. So I'm just going to imagine that feeling every time I want to crack open the chocolates!

Yes please! Got 2 stone to lose though not got on scales this week so it could be more ☹️. Starting properly 2nd Jan.

theremustonlybeone · 31/12/2022 20:00

I had 3 stone to lost earlier this year and have lost 2 and now a stone to go...

I joined sort your fit out on instagram and it has changed my life, fitter than my kids and know what to do to get the weight off. I struggle with the calorie deficit as i drink too much booze which is my demon...so dry january is kick starting me into the right direction

daisydoods · 31/12/2022 20:02

Can I join? I have 2 stone to get rid of, ideally 2 and a half. Like you OP I'm just aiming to eat less rubbish and make better choices, also hoping to walk ddog a lot more to help me do it around work and the kids.

Does anyone else not use the scales and just go from the way clothes fit or measurements etc?

JustHavinABreak · 31/12/2022 20:05

Oh yes...I've found my tribe!!!

I need to lose about 15kg because I'm a bit of a short arse and I'm sick of the sight of myself. When it gets to the stage when I want to cry if I accidentally catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, then it's a sign.

I haven't been taking care of myself and it really shows. I gave myself this mad Christmas week to indulge (just ate a pizza) and from tomorrow, I'm going to get my sh*t together and be a good example to my kids. So glad to do this with you lovely lot. We can talk each other down when there's something yummy in the fridge calling our names!

Tipster100 · 31/12/2022 20:07

Me! I had 2 stone to lose but over Xmas I've felt very out of control and it's probably more like 2.5 now. I am making a resolution to prioritise what me and the family eat because if I don't plan and stay on top of the plan then it all goes to pot. I'm going to go lower carb, do a bit of fasting and make sure I get good sleep otherwise I have no self control. Good luck everyone. We've got this 🤞

I've started not to recognise myself in photos! I suddenly realise I'm the really big one with the fat arms (none of my friends have any kind of weight issue.) I feel a deep sense of self loathing at the moment so need to take a stance. I can relate to the mirror issues.

sunlovingcriminal · 31/12/2022 20:14

I. Am. In.

Me and my wibbly wobbly tum!
Have started running this week...

As of tomorrow the booze is going to be reduced, love a couple of glasses of wine of an evening!!

I know what to do, now just have to do it. Nearly 42 now, have to get leaner and stronger so that I can age gracefully and not look like I've eaten all the pies!

roselune · 31/12/2022 20:14

I'm in too. Initial goal is around 10kg, maybe more. I'm turning 40 this year and determined to get healthy and fit into some of my lovely clothes again.

anxiousatnight · 31/12/2022 20:22

Yes me. I need to loose 2 stone minimum, 2.5 ideally.

Joining Slimming World (again) on Thursday. I'll post my weight here on Thursday and then update at each weekly weigh in. Im guessing it will be about 14 stone Xmas Confused I look fine at 12 stone but better at 11.5.

I'm going on a hen do to Paris in May. The bride to be is an absolutely lovely friend, but younger than me and super glamorous - so of course, all of her friends are too!

iamloading · 31/12/2022 20:28

I'm embarrassed that I've been weighing myself in kg as I don't actually know what it means other than it's bad! 😂 So on Monday I'm switching the scales to stones and will get a nasty shock!

Baffledismydefault · 31/12/2022 20:46

I'd like to join too please! 2.5 stones would take me down to 11.5 stones, which was my previous lowest adult weight and I looked and felt pretty good at that number. I do have to lose a few Christmas pounds too, so more like 3 stones in total, but I know most of that is water retention from the ridiculous amount of salt I've consumed recently.

Helenahandkart · 31/12/2022 20:51

I started the Fast 800 at the start of October and lost 2 stone by early December. I really recommend it. I signed up to the online programme which was £100 but it was honestly so worth it. It generates meal plans and shopping lists, so deals with a lot of the diet admin for you.

Going back to it on Monday after a festive carb splurge, as I still have another 1.5 stone to go.

It was the first diet I’ve done where I felt like I was looking after my body.

NewspaperTaxis · 31/12/2022 20:54

I'll join. What happens now?

iamloading · 31/12/2022 20:56

@NewspaperTaxis everyone is doing different things so maybe for those weighing, we could do a weekly weigh in.
I'm going to weigh myself and start this Monday.
Then other than that support not to fall off the wagon!
