Thought I'd save you the hassle @poorpaws.

Well done for those who have lost and good luck to those struggling.

My focus at the moment is just to be wiser for food selection and to keep active. The slow moving scales can wait although I did check this morning and showing I'm nearly back to 14 and a half stone.

My day didn’t exactly go to plan. I arrived at work to my new job and my manager said that I’d need to drive to one of our sites on the other side of town. I’m not an especially confident driver and it totally threw me, plus I’d brought soup for lunch and therefore couldn’t eat it on the move so I ended up going into Tesco and getting a meal deal and a salted caramel wispa. 🤦‍♀️

my tooth /ex tooth is still really painful, I think I have an infection in there somewhere as my whole gum is super tender and swollen. And I feel very sorry for myself and miserable. Combined with the exhaustion of starting a new job and getting information overload for three days…. Yeah, I’m struggling a bit to be honest!

I’ll try again tomorrow, I’ll take my soup and fruit to work and that will be my lunch. Dh is away tomorrow night so I can have quite a light dinner as well.

effiesgoldwig · 07/03/2023 21:33

Great minds think alike @zebracat . I have just had a go at clearing my wardrobe of my biggest clothes and the ones that are me feel like I'm wearing a sack. I've got all my casual clothes in drawers so aside from underwear I have a drawer of tops, a drawer of leggings/jeans and a drawer of pjs.

Then hung up I have 2 work trousers, 4 work skirts, 4 work dresses and about 6 work tops. Then a shedload of summer maxi dresses from last summer which I hope will swamp me this year.

The work trousers are a potential problem as they are starting to get on the baggy side. So when my tonsils forgive me for trying to have it all (a job a family and time to take care of myself - imagine) I will head to matalan and see what I can rustle up in the workwear dept.

effiesgoldwig · 07/03/2023 21:33

And as for a teaspoon of Nutella - if that's the only thing you have to worry about is say that's a pretty fantastic day! Well done.

effiesgoldwig · 07/03/2023 21:36

@thenewaveragebear1983 sounds like your having a tough time - I hate toothache!

If you can't heat your soup at work you can get soup flasks now with a built in spoon in the lid. If you prewarm the inside with hot water and then put your soup in hot it stays warm til lunch. I have one that I sometimes use if I know I won't have time to queue for the microwave.

Zebracat · 07/03/2023 22:51

Oh well done @effiesgoldwig , that’s a proper job, and now you know exactly where you are. And I won’t worry about the teaspoonful of Nutella. It was properly loaded though!
@thenewaveragebear1983 I think you should phone the dentist. I have never had an extraction continue to hurt, but my son did and it was dry socket. And well done for doing this as well as a new job and toothache. You are a star.

PinkArt · 07/03/2023 22:57

Utterly derailed tonight and ate so much chocolate that I wasn't even enjoying it. I had salad for lunch and a small steak and loads of veg for tea and then it went to shit.
I'll join you starting again @Bjarnum. Always a chance for a better day tomorrow.

Bjarnum · 08/03/2023 02:48

@PinkArt I feel your pain! Onward and downwards ...

poorpaws · 08/03/2023 08:08

Last day today and I'm so pleased about that. I was so exhausted yesterday after the extended dog walk. I honestly didn't think I'd get home. I sat down some of the afternoon to recover, but then I had my sodding exercises to do! I made myself do them, sat down again and went to bed before 9 o'clock and slept!

@Bjarnum I felt sorry for you that it hasn't gone well and send you 💐 BUT I was going to do an extra day with you because you started a day later and now you've derailed I don't have to do it and I'm massively grateful.

Over a long period of time, I have done quite a few boost weeks but I have found this one, at least towards the end, very difficult. The trouble is I couldn't cheat without owning up because that's who I am and if I cheat once I keep on cheating so I've been an absolute angel. 😇

So, as I said, last day! I can't ruin it all on the last day, can I?

I hope everyone has a good last day and we'll see our results tomorrow. I'm so glad it's nearly over. 😁

poorpaws · 08/03/2023 08:18

For those who've done boost week and not weighed, what do you think you've lost? Do you think boost week is worth it? Would you want to do it again?

My opinion, as I've said in my last post, is that I found it difficult this time towards the end and I would do it again but not immediately after this one, a boost fortnight is too much for me. I'd like to have lost 3 lbs which would be a lot as I lost 2.25 lbs last week and usually after a loss like that I don't lose the following week.

I am also a bit nervous that it I have lost a fair amount I'll be celebrating and putting it back on, which is really bad but I'm a practiced yo-yo dieter.

BeyondMyWits · 08/03/2023 08:30

I've been doing the boost without weighing... and even if there is no loss (unlikely) I feel lighter, I can walk more easily, without as many groans standing up. So hopefully a couple of pounds off. Fingers crossed 🤞

poorpaws · 08/03/2023 08:38

@BeyondMyWits so pleased you haven't weighed and are hopefully going to get a good result. It's far more exciting when you haven't weighed but are sure you've lost something. Looking forward to hearing how you've done and hoping for a big loss for you.

Zebracat · 08/03/2023 09:10

I thought yesterday was the last day? Oh bugger.I have weighed so I know Ive lost 1.3 kilos which is almost 3 pounds, although of course I could be good as gold today and still wake up tomorrow to one of those horrific gains.
I haven’t found it hard, but I havent been doing the Olympian levels of exercise, done as much as I could. I haven’t snacked, kept close to my calorie allowance, and swum almost every day. And my house and garden are tidier.
Its made me see that, if I stop noodling about, I can reach my first major goal, a bmi under 30, in weeks not years.
Im going to really try today. Going to the theatre tonight. No ice cream, no Maltesers. No halftime gin.

poorpaws · 08/03/2023 11:41

@Zebracat we started last Thursday so today is 7 days 😁 very well done on the loss, that's great news and proves what you can do.

It's not going well here. It's raining and cold, DP was having his car repaired (driver ran into him) this morning so had to stay in for collection and they haven't turned up. No dog walk yet, no exercise dvd, I'm panicking the last day and I'll fail! I wish it had been the last day yesterday.

poorpaws · 08/03/2023 11:46

@Zebracat I've spent so long dog walking and dvd exercising my house is WORSE this week, I've had no time to clean it.

Zebracat · 08/03/2023 11:50

@poorpaws . You can’t fail because of external stuff that’s out of your control, but can you do the male thing and say that you’re going anyway? I cant swim today between the gas engineer and the medical appointment, but that’s fine. I’m going to wash down some walls later, something I’m sure the others privileged to have dogs in their homes will understand.

poorpaws · 08/03/2023 12:07

@Zebracat you're right, I'm off without him.

Zebracat · 08/03/2023 17:06

@poorpaws👊. I’m not sure that’s right, cant find a thumbsup. Happy International womens Day!

poorpaws · 08/03/2023 17:48

I ended up doing the dog walk and my exercises against all the odds.

But I have a message to you all from my DP.
"I hope there isn't another boost week any time soon. Paws has spoken of nothing else all week, she's been obsessed".

Tbh I think he is right, Ive spent the week obsessing about exercise and calories, I just need a good result and I've obsessed because I lost last week so normally it would almost impossible to lost weight again this week. We shall see tomorrow. One more evening left, we can't fail now can we? 😆

effiesgoldwig · 08/03/2023 20:14

I thought of another goal - I want to be able to lie down in the bath without my belly sticking out! Blush

I'm closer now than I've been in a long while but it's still there. Belly island.

I'm ok with the boob islands. That's to be expected. But belly island needs to get gone.

effiesgoldwig · 08/03/2023 20:16

PoorDPaws - but it'll be worth it tomorrow morning when he gets to spend all day tomorrow hearing about how much weight you lost. Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/03/2023 21:58

Boost week hadn’t gone well at all for me but I will be trying again. To be fair, it hasn’t been the best week: tooth out, clearly developed either an access or dry socket (I have dentist appointment tomorrow), started a new job, dh away tonight, and now bloody snow! And it’s only Wednesday!

anyway. I needed chocolate today. I did go out for a brisk walk in the freeze after logging off for the day, and took
ds out in the snow this evening too, so got my 10k steps in, but to be honest I feel very off Colour and clearly have quite a nasty infection in my tooth socket. I have worked from home today. I’m just going to try to limp through the week, it’s been a really tough few days. Next week once I feel better I will try and get my head back in the game. I think I will need a bit of routine when working from home, and a strict week on plan will hell with that but my heart just isn’t in it this week.

well done to you all and you should be very pleased with your results this week ⭐️ 🎖️ 🏆

TalkToTheHand123 · 08/03/2023 22:45

Hadn't intended doing a boost week but last three days I've ended up near the gym so have been. I've also walked a lot with shopping. Pigged out a bit, but hopefully back on it tomorrow.

I don't intend to weigh myself anytime soon as just trying not to in general but also feel I've put on and feel quite bloated.

OP posts:
BeyondMyWits · 09/03/2023 07:33

Well... Time for my boost reveal...

Was 15st 7lb
Now 15st 3lb

Lost 4lb...

FOUR! in a week... me... no wonder I'm walking easier.

Thank you for the impetus @poorpaws. Wouldn't have done this week without you and everyone else on here spurring us on. I bloody love this group.

Zebracat · 09/03/2023 07:39

This is not good. 96.2 today after 2 days of 95.5.
I went over my calories yesterday. Didn’t get lunch until 3 by which time I was so hungry it was hard to stop. And I did have ice cream at the theatre. Even so, seems a heavy price to pay.
I hope that those weighing today have pleasanter surprises.
I am not going to fall into the pit of despair though. Onwards!

Zebracat · 09/03/2023 07:42

@BeyondMyWits wow oh wow, I am so pleased for you.
