Thought I'd save you the hassle @poorpaws.

Well done for those who have lost and good luck to those struggling.

My focus at the moment is just to be wiser for food selection and to keep active. The slow moving scales can wait although I did check this morning and showing I'm nearly back to 14 and a half stone.

Boost week is working 😁...

Inkpotlover · 06/03/2023 07:21

I ended up having an incredibly stressful week after joining the thread and sank far too much Prosecco than intended on Friday night BUT I managed to not pig out alongside it, so I still feel on track. I'm not weighing but I can tell from how I look in the mirror and how my clothes feel that my Hobbit breakfast/portion plate regime is really working. For the first time in I don't know how long I'm not obsessing about food.

I'm still rubbish at exercising though. I walk a lot and try to get to 10k steps a day but it's so cold at the moment I don't want to leave the house! Anyone recommend some Youtube exercise vids that might get me out of my exercise rut?

Welcome @Imamumgetmeoutofhere. I've only been here for a couple of months but it's a really lovely thread, full of supportive people, encouragement and no pressure. Everyone is doing their own thing, at their own pace.
It sounds like you're in a good place with wanting to change. What do you think would be small but effective changes you could make to get the ball rolling? I'm not doing great at stopping evening snacks but seem to have nailed quitting day snacks for now, which was a good habit to break.

To be honest just drinking more water, cutting out the biscuits with my evening tea and aiming for 10,000 steps a day would be a great start. But I don't see it would make much of a difference. But it's a start I guess

poorpaws · 06/03/2023 07:55

@thenewaveragebear1983 good luck today, I hope it goes well, I'm thinking of you and sending strength and confidence.

Bjarnum · 06/03/2023 07:56

@Inkpotlover Well done! One glass of anything and all my self control vanishes...

@Inkpotlover Well done! One glass of anything and all my self control vanishes...

It was an entire bottle. 😬So yes, not bingeing = yay, empty calories from booze = bugger.

poorpaws · 06/03/2023 08:09

@Imamumgetmeoutofhere welcome and lovely to have you here.

I hope you are all doing well on boost week, you certainly seem to be from the messages. Half way through and the weekend gone so it should be downhill from here.

I've done very well with exercise, longer walks and exercise dvd every day, never been under 17,000 steps.

I've done well with food too, though suppers are creeping up, still within allowance. I had a granola bar last night (it will be the first and last during this challenge) just because it was Sunday and half way through 🙈. Stupid but it wasn't as many calories as my usual chocolate and I nibbled it slowly, it was delicious just because I haven't had one since we started boost week. Food tastes so good when you don't have so much of it.

Supermarket shop soon, then long dog walk so steps will be easy I think. It's very cold here today which always makes me want to stay at home doing very little.

Day 5 - yay, we're such a good team so keep going.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/03/2023 08:29

Ah thank you @poorpaws

Zebracat · 06/03/2023 08:39

Morning. I feel thinner. Very pleased with all of us. We are doing good.
@Imamumgetmeoutofhere Those 3 changes will make a difference, I promise you. If you can sustain them for a week, you will feel more in control and ready to add some more. I like no snacking and half my plate needs to be fruit and veg, altho teaching that to Dh ,who does a lot of the cooking is hard!I also I log everything on My Fitness Pal, it’s really helped me see what a day needs to look like.
I remember feeling really hopeless and fed up at the beginning. Trying to lose weight just seemed another opportunity to fail. All I could think about was how impossible it would be to lose 30 kilos, and that would only get me to overweight, and that I might rebound and end up even bigger. I was so full of self loathing. And I couldn’t exercise, and felt my diet was already good with not much I could change.
What I didn’t know was that as soon as I accepted that this was my responsibility and that I wouldn’t be depriving myself, I would be loving myself and giving my body a chance to work properly again, and as soon as I’d lost a couple of kilos and felt how much that helped. And experienced hunger and not died, And said no to cake and felt powerful, not deprived. And found an exercise I could do despite my dodgy hip, I felt a lot better. Sometimes it is really slow, but that’s ok, I’m all about changing my life now, not waiting for it to begin when I reach a random number on the scale, but I still want to reach it, and stay there.
I just wanted to say trust yourself, everything will be ok.

SchrodingersKitty · 06/03/2023 13:43

Lost 3 lbs in 4 days, so not too bad as a re-start, despite brief blip at funeral. I haven't managed much in the way of walking (my main form of exercise in the winter), as it has been so cold, but might venture out in a minute.

Well done to everyone for great boost week efforts.

Zebracat · 06/03/2023 14:39

@SchrodingersKitty . It wasn’t really a blip at the funeral. We have food and drink on such occasions because it helps people have a sense of community and reconnection. You ate a really modest amount and it was appropriate behaviour.
Brilliant loss too!

Bjarnum · 06/03/2023 18:48

@Zebracat Well done - lots of positive thinking and action. Go you!
@SchrodingersKitty - congratulations on the epic weight loss.
And I made broccoli and stilton soup today ... Not bad but quite high in calories. Trying parsnip soup tomorrow.

poorpaws · 06/03/2023 19:21

Hi everyone

Another good day for me, over 18,500 steps and healthy eating so far.

Not long to go now, has anyone else found that this week has flown by? I can't wait to get our results later in the week 😁

I think we've got a lot of rain forecast for tomorrow and most of the week, this makes my step count difficult to achieve. Two of the three dogs hate rain and I struggle to get them out even in a warm coat. Worst case scenario I'll have to do my exercise dvd twice (at least).

Keep on we're nearly there.

poorpaws · 06/03/2023 19:44

@thenewaveragebear1983 how did today go? Are you ok?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/03/2023 19:54

Hi @poorpaws, I had a good day but it’s just total info overload isn’t it? I’m in with my new line manager tomorrow which I am
looking forward to.

I feel really tired tonight and my mouth still really hurts. I don’t know how long is normal for it to hurt after an extraction? This has been 4 days now, and I’m still really swollen (eg feel like I have a boiled sweet against my gum kind of swollen) which is having the knock on effect of giving me a flappy/drooly mouth and also Making my cheek/eye socket hurt. The actual cavity doesn’t hurt so I don’t think I’m infected. But it’s annoying and it gets me down.

my food was…. Ok today. Porridge and raspberries for breakfast, lunch was provided so was sandwiches and cakes, dinner I had a really small portion of lasagne and a bowl of soup. I’d done virtually no steps so after dinner I went out just to get some movement in.

Tomorrow I’ll be taking my lunch with me- salad, Tuna etc and fruit. I’m going to the gym at 6am before work, and dinner will be a prepped chicken thing after dcs football. It will be a really long day tomorrow unfortunately, early start and late finish,

you’re all doing so well, I feel like I’m lagging behind but it’s very motivating to read all your stories.

PinkArt · 06/03/2023 21:24

I'm doing ok still, not full on superhero but definitely better than I would be without this week. Pretzels are featuring very heavily as snack distraction.

effiesgoldwig · 07/03/2023 07:28

You are all doing amazingly well! What an amazing group you are! I am honestly so glad I joined this board you're a bunch of superstars.

I have tonsillitis which is rubbish so I'm off work. Steps close to zero but also too painful to eat very much so my calorie intake yesterday was about 900 which is I suppose a bright side.

I'm 1 lb away from hitting a 2 stone loss now and starting to resent the fact that nobody has noticed. Or maybe they're just too polite.

Was planning a little spending spree on new clothes in a smaller size and then the bill for DDs school music lessons arrived and that's all our spare money for a little while gone. I have a sewing machine but no talent so any attempt to "sewing bee" myself a new outfit would likely end in disaster. Plus I'm currently too ill to sew. I'm just going to hide in bed away from all the food and have myself a pity party!

poorpaws · 07/03/2023 08:04

@effiesgoldwig aww that sucks! I hate being ill so in my book you are definitely allowed to sulk. I hope you feel better very soon. I've a feeling this boost week has gone so well we'll be doing another one before Easter so you'll be fit for that one. 💐

It's getting closer to results day and I'm so excited to hear how we've all done.

I bought chicken breast fillets and parsnips for more soup yesterday (and Easter eggs - for those who love coconut Bounty have an egg with coconut in the egg as well as two full sized bars) but I have no room in my freezer. It's a small four drawer freezer and packed high. I spent ages last night rearranging it and I don't think a pin would fit in. DP has no room in his either so I'm not sure what to do. I am a fool, I knew it was full when I bought the food. I've already got four servings of carrot soup in the fridge which I had to make as an emergency as I didn't have parsnips. 😞

Anyway I'm waffling, have a good day everyone and don't destroy any good results by breaking the boost week now, it's too close to the end.

Zebracat · 07/03/2023 11:38

Poor @poorpaws , looks like carrot soup and chicken all week for you!
It s cold today. I’d love to stay in bed with a good book, but I can’t because it’s boost week and I’m not Ill. So Ive booked my swim and intend a bit of gardening first. This has been really good for me, altho I can’t quite shake the feeling that actually this is how it should be all the time , not slacking off with chocolate biscuits and getting Lindt for Valentines Day. I don’t want to be obsessive, but I have been reminded by this week that I want to be able to show the consultant that I have worked at this when I get my appointment. I’d love to have lost 22 kilos by then, and no longer be obese.
@effiesgoldwig Wow, That’s such an achievement. We’ve all noticed for sure. What size are you now?

PinkArt · 07/03/2023 16:39

Stocked up on prezels at lunch. They aren't even that healthy! Just lower calorie than the chocolate I'd rather be eating.

Bjarnum · 07/03/2023 19:00

I've rather let the side down. But I shall draw a line under the whole sorry business and just start again ...

peachgreen · 07/03/2023 19:40

Massively panicked as I weighed myself yesterday post-holiday and I’d put on 8lbs. In a week! Horrified. But then weighed myself again this morning and I’m back to where I was. What the fuck? Wearing the same thing, scales in the same place. How is that even possible?!

effiesgoldwig · 07/03/2023 19:59

@Zebracat I reckon I'm now comfortably in a 20 on my waist but not really sure as I think I've changed shape a bit in the last couple of years, after dd being born in 2022. I had been wearing a 22 but then I do have some 18s that fit as well. So basically I have no idea. May need to go to a shop that actually has fitting rooms to try stuff on.

@Bjarnum don't worry we've all done it. Just get back on you'll be fine.

@peachgreen I hate it when they do that! Were you holding a bowling ball at the the time yesterday? Or need a HUGE wee?

Bjarnum · 07/03/2023 21:24

@effiesgoldwig Thank you for the kind words

Zebracat · 07/03/2023 21:24

I was under my calories today by 200, so I made a small banana split. I feel really guilty. Not sure If I should. Forgot to log the tsp of Nutella and I don’t dare look it up now. I have never been like this, always underestimate everything and then wonder why I dont lose weight. I have changed.
@effiesgoldwig. If you can’t buy anything, could you just pack away anything obviously too big.? Sometimes we improve our wardrobes as much by what we remove. If you are the capsule wardrobe type with 2 pairs of trousers and 3 tops, that might be more difficult!
