Lose +/- 7lbs with me

Would anyone like to join me in losing just a few pounds?

Despite cutting back on biscuits and alcohol and keeping active, I've put on 8lbs due to the menopause - most of it feels like it's around my middle and I'm not feeling good about it.

I enjoy walking, so am going to try and to a bit more on top of my usual exercise, also some toning exercises for my stomach/core. Not willing to starve myself, so going to try and make better choices/have slightly smaller portions.

Weighed in at a fraction over 160lbs, that’s 3lb off this week and a total of 9 since new year! Very pleased with that!

have a great weekend everyone!

ifonly4 · 14/01/2023 22:07

thenewaveragebear1983 You're doing so well.

I've done well in the day this week, but in the evenings haven't managed to be so careful - just temptation and not been determined later on. Despite that I've lost xmas weight now plus another 1lb, making that 7lbs. Another couple of pounds would be good, but main thing is not to put on. My stomach isn't so bloated, but not how I'd like it to be - guess I've changed shape over the years - I'm trying to remember to do some toning exercises, but suspect I'd need to do far amore than I'm doing at present.

neverendinglauaundry Hope you enjoyed your japanese meal. That's the way to do it, try and keep calories low(ish) in the day if you're going out.

@new

neverendinglauaundry · 15/01/2023 20:03

Fumble, sorry
Well done @thenewaveragebear1983 & @ifonly4 .
I've managed to be below 2000 calories each day but haven't achieved the 1500 I'm aiming for. Weighing in tomorrow & hoping to have got back to my pre Christmas low of 13 st 8. 🤞

neverendinglauaundry · 16/01/2023 07:01

13 st 8, yay! That's 2lb this week and 9 so far. Psychologically, I'd now really like to get under 13 1/2 stone and reliably stay there over the next month, with a longer term aim of getting to 13 by Easter. I also want to aim for more fruit and veg in my diet
Do you think you guys will be still going by then? Or will you have totally finished soon?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/01/2023 15:53

@neverendinglauaundry I imagine I’ll still be here… I set myself the target of 1lb a week until whitsun which would make around 21lbs off. I have had a good start but I tend to grind to a plateau and stay there or inch along at a few grams a week 🤦‍♀️

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 17/01/2023 11:24

Morning all, I popped into this thread a couple of weeks ago - so encouraging to read how you're all getting on!

It helps me to write out the details, so here goes:

Starting weight (1.1.23): 12st 8
Current weight: 12st 6.5
Target weight: 11st 4-7

I have lost a little bit but I had a pretty full stomach when I weighed on Jan 1st, so I think my starting weight was a little inflated haha.

My plan is to be generally more moderate, and when situation allows I'll attempt quite a long fast (eg 21:3), perhaps doing that a couple of times a week, 16:8 on the other days. BUT I'm going to be very flexible. We've got some difficult stuff going on at home at the moment and I need not to be hypoglycaemic.

There are no forbidden foods, including wine and chips, but I do want to really enjoy the food I do have, not mindlessly consume.

Sorry for long post!!

neverendinglauaundry · 17/01/2023 12:26

That sounds like a good plan @Ohyesthankyouglitter flexibility is really important otherwise it's really hard to stick at it.
I'm getting a bit bored of being slightly hungry all the time now, but so far I'm sticking with it. Night off planned on Friday.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 17/01/2023 13:13

@neverendinglauaundry how do you limit yourself to just Friday night? I'm so in the habit of being quite 'relaxed' both Fri and Sat nights that I'd begun to wonder whether it might make sense to be more restrained on Fridays, to save the night off til Saturday?!!

neverendinglauaundry · 17/01/2023 14:34

It depends on whether I drink alcohol or not. If I drink I'll have less will power and eat more on Saturday too. If I stay sober or limit to one glass on Friday I can get back on it on Saturday

ifonly4 · 17/01/2023 19:06

Ohyesthankyouglitter The important thing is that you're in the right mindset. We've all had our ups and downs and slowly getting there.

I'm only 2lbs off what I'd ideally like to be, but have plateaued a bit in terms of how relaxed I've been the last couple of weeks with my eating, so need encouragement to at least stay where I am (and at some point lose that extra couple of pounds). For that reason I'll still be here and it'll also be interesting to read how you're all getting on.

We have a guest staying this week, so just trying to do what I can when I can. He's from abroad and wants to try fish and chips, but DH is trying to put it off so I haven't got an excuse. Luckily DD sounds like she's ready to step in.

I've been a bit stressed out today so I treated myself to some chocolate digestives. Calories for the day - 1650
Steps -12000

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 19/01/2023 09:35

Starting weight (1.1.23): 12st 8
Current weight: 12st 4.25
Target weight: 11st 4-7

Weighed myself this morning, managed to lose over 2lb in less than a week 😃. This has felt like the first proper week so I don't imagine it'll stay at that rate, but encouraging to nudge closer to target.

neverendinglauaundry · 19/01/2023 09:43

Well done @Ohyesthankyouglitter !
I weighed this morning and am now 13st 7.5
Which is a small loss and encouraging. I'm hoping to shift that half a pound over the next 5 days or so.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 19/01/2023 11:40

yey! well done @neverendinglauaundry

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/01/2023 22:02

Hi everyone, not posted much this week as I’ve been very busy. How’s everyone getting on?

I’m still on track although this week I have eaten a lot of fruit/nuts/nut butter and NKD bars- all technically “allowed” on whole30 but not really advised, and a lot of them so lots of calories. This week I doubt I will have lost anything, I might not even weigh tomorrow. In classic w30 fashion I have felt a mixture of absolutely walking on air, full of energy, and feeling absolutely exhausted. I am fully in the throes of detox now, and tonight I just craved junk food and wine so much. I could easily have eaten it but I did manage to resist.

Next week is my best week for weight loss in my cycle so I’m really going to try hard to stick to my planned meals and try not to graze or snack. I need to prep breakfasts in advance and drink more water as well.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/01/2023 20:07

I totally cracked tonight, I ate cookies, bread, cheese and drank wine 🤦‍♀️

ifonly4 · 22/01/2023 17:31

I haven't had the best week as we had a guest so lost focus - haven't weighed for that reason. Have tried to be a bit more careful today and I'll be back on it tomorrow - we're going away in a few days time so whatever I can do before then is going to be a positive.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 22/01/2023 18:20

We've had a birthday this weekend, so have had a fair few treats. I've enjoyed it but am also looking forward to being more moderate tomorrow. 👊

neverendinglauaundry · 22/01/2023 19:19

@thenewaveragebear1983 never mind - it's a long term thing weight loss and changing your diet. One slip up doesn't break the whole thing.
I had a lovely day off gorging on chocolate Florentines on Friday. And also a couple of pints in the pub. I did have a long swim and quite sensible meals. Saturday was a bit off track too but I'm back on it today. I'm trying to eat a wide variety of veg and have been doing well at that if nothing else!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/01/2023 19:35

@neverendinglauaundry thanks, I know you are right. I just feel very cheesed off with myself! Didn’t have a brilliant day today either. My meals were good but I did eat a lot of potato and a small piece of Christmas cake 🤷‍♀️
I listened to my hypnosis though which usually helps me. I feel really really tired tonight, like i could go to bed at 8.30 - but happy valley is on so I have to watch it!!!

Whiskers4 · 24/01/2023 07:58

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Ups and downs over the weeks, but you've all been doing so well.

Weighed this morning. I've now lost 4lbs. More or less kept to what I was doing, slightly smaller portions and lower calorie choices where possible. Not always easy, but happy with my loss, so far. Need to start exercising more, especially something for my tummy - doesn't feel like weight loss has done anything for it - guess it's my age!

neverendinglauaundry · 24/01/2023 22:06

Hi all,
Unexpected visitor (again!) Yesterday but I managed to stay on track. Went to the pub, but had cups of tea instead of beer and made a nice but low cal dinner for us all before hand.
Today I've been reasonably good
B. Apple, peanut butter & 2 coffees
L. Cheese, carrot, pickled onion & salad bun & an orange
D. Marinated chicken, red pepper, broccoli, rice & quinoa.
S. 2 ginger biscuits & some halo top ice-cream
1500 calories all in and 13000 steps also a good amount of veg. Probably shouldn't have had the biscuits though!

neverendinglauaundry · 25/01/2023 07:22

Well done on your loss @Whiskers4 - sounds like a really sustainable method too

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 26/01/2023 10:15

Have had a mix-moxy week, started out okay but then medical emergency in the family threw everything out the window for a couple of days. Things have settled again now, so I'm keen to keep it all on track rather than just have a 'sod it' mentality!!
