Lose +/- 7lbs with me

Would anyone like to join me in losing just a few pounds?

Despite cutting back on biscuits and alcohol and keeping active, I've put on 8lbs due to the menopause - most of it feels like it's around my middle and I'm not feeling good about it.

I enjoy walking, so am going to try and to a bit more on top of my usual exercise, also some toning exercises for my stomach/core. Not willing to starve myself, so going to try and make better choices/have slightly smaller portions.

@thenewaveragebear1983 and @neverendinglauaundry it sounds like you're both nailing it. Good to hear you're feeling fresh with the detox bear!
I'm not doing well at all Blush this happens every time. I weighed, was pleasantly surprised by the result, and have since stuffed myself silly. I feel sick and bloated and annoyed with myself.
Got so many lovely treats given to me over/for Christmas, I want to enjoy them but seem to have lost track of moderation and can't get out of the "oh go on, it's Xmas" mentality. Also things that are running out of date, I feel the need to finish. I hate food waste.
I also haven't exercised at all so tomorrow morning I'm out for a walk come rain or shine. Might give me a boost!

ifonly4 · 05/01/2023 14:36

Glad you've all come back and we can continue to support eachother.

Totally back to normality and general routine now. Today I've had 20g cereal, a biscuit, crackers, tomato, cucumber and a small amount of cheese. Tonight it's stir fry without any noodles/rice. About to go for coffee with DD - she'll soon be back at uni so just going to enjoy the coffee (and whatever!). We do have a meal planned with friends tomorrow night, but my DF has a lot to loose (half way through), so I know she won't be leading my astray too much.

Originally I wanted to lose 9lbs. After xmas I was still 4lbs down, so 5lbs left to go and keep off - think it'll be slow as I still want to live my life as well.

That sounds delicious @thenewaveragebear1983 glad you're back on track @ifonly4
Today I'm pretty sure I've gone over on calories probably about 1800

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 05/01/2023 20:58

Late to the party, but could I join you ladies too? I possibly need to lose 3/4-1 stone, but I know after half a stone my clothes will be a bit more comfortable. Planning to cut out snacking, drink more water and do something like 16:8

neverendinglauaundry · 06/01/2023 12:30

Welcome @Ohyesthankyouglitter ! The more the merrier. I think these accountability threads are really useful. I also want to loose about a stone in total. I'm doing calorie counting & generally trying to eat better & exercise more, usually with a day off over the weekend. I'm aiming for sustainability and keeping it off rather than a breakneck speed of loss.

ifonly4 · 06/01/2023 14:37

neverendinglauaundry I didn't do too well in the end yesterday, ended up drinking port and chocolates given at Xmas. We had a few bottles given us and loads of chocolates, so really need to have more willpower when DH is tempted. Today I've had crackers again and then ended up eating three chocolates. We're going out for a meal tonight, but I'm going to get focused again - I know lowest calorie option and really like it.

Ohyesthankyouglitter You're more than welcome. I'm 4lbs lighter than when I started (need to get rid of xmas weight) and my trousers already feel a bit looser, so the effort is worthwhile.

Hi everyone,
I’ve had another good day today, I went for a 5km walk with my mil but no other exercise, my glutes are hurting a lot after a class yesterday 🍑 😂
food has been a bit scrappy today. I ate a banana before my walk, and a baked potato with mackerel and mayo for lunch with loads of salt as I’m feeling a bit detox weary , a couple of satsumas and small pear. Some walnuts and raisins mid afternoon. My dinner tonight is a steak and salad and I’ll probably do a few sweet potato chunks to go with it.

I’m really looking forward to my weigh in on Sunday, is that weird? I just know i have had a really good week on plan so I’m keen to see if a bit of the Christmas bloat has gone!

weekends are always tricky here, and even more so as we are doing dry January which means dh will substitute alcohol with crisps, dips and nuts. He’s not got a sweet tooth thankfully as that would really sway me. I’d really really like a nice glass of cold Pinot Grigio right now and I’m not going to try alcohol free options just yet, I’m going to go fully without. I didn’t sleep well last night, I had very restless sleep, which is odd as I was so tired when I went to bed. so not really feeling all the benefits of detoxing just yet- although I am definitely feeling my mood has improved considerably, and I feel more energetic especially at the afternoon slump time- that’s probably from having zero sugar.

have a great weekend everyone!

GFLoser · 06/01/2023 19:51

My week has gone from bad to worse, I can't seem to get my head in the game despite doing everything I can to help myself. I have healthy food in, I have my water bottle filled and chilled every day. I just can't seem to make the leap to action!
@thenewaveragebear1983 you're really inspiring me, keep it up and I hope your hard work shows on the scales on Sunday.
I need to do something with all this Xmas treat food still lying around. When I'm on it, I can have a small treat- but in this mentality, I just don't have an off switch.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/01/2023 09:30

Thought I’d weigh in today as my official weigh in, thinking realistically Sunday isn’t a great day to weigh in is it? So….. (drum roll please….) my post Christmas weight was 169lbs and my weight today is 162.8lbs - so just a smidge over 6lbs off! Woo hoo!

neverendinglauaundry · 07/01/2023 13:15

That's amazing @thenewaveragebear1983 ! Well done! That's inspiring. I've had a very derailled couple of days. Out with DH on Thursday night and intended to be back on track yesterday but some friends came over unexpectedly and we went out for a meal and wine. Que hangover eating today. Oh well, back on it tomorrow. I'm going to weigh on Monday I think.

ifonly4 · 07/01/2023 15:51

thenewaveragebear1983 That's such good news. You sound like you're righ ton it now and well focused, which is another plus.

GFLoser We all have ups and downs. Hopefully things will get better as you get into the routine of the New Year.

neverendinglauaundry I feel like I've derailed as well - out with friends last night, chose lowest calorie meal, then failed and had a calorie laden dessert. DD cooking tonight, no point in telling her to make it low calorie (cooks with loads of oil) or a small portion. Also, just aware we have all that xmas cheese and food/alcohol gifts hanging around.

Just realised I have a good focus - looking ok(ish) in a swimming costume - .we're away at the end of the month and there's a pool, sauna and jacuzzi

OP posts:
neverendinglauaundry · 08/01/2023 19:25

How lovely @ifonly4 ! A holiday will be such a tonic. I've done well today and got back on it.
B. Protein yoghurt & 2 coffees
L. Grilled chicken, salad, a few sweet potato fries
D. Salmon, new potatoes in lemon butter dressing, green beans in lemony garlic parmesan dressing.
Also had a half hour swim. Overall feeling good about the day - just need another few days like this!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/01/2023 19:49

Oooh @ifonly4 I’m jealous! great incentive as well.

I’ve had a good weekend, alcohol free! Today I have felt especially good, very energised. I ran 12km with my friend, and then have done housework all afternoon, getting everything ready for the week. I had bacon, mushrooms and tomato for brunch, a chicken bone broth for lunch, and for dinner I have had a roast chicken dinner with roast potatoes and lots of veg, and a chia pudding (chia, ground almonds. Coconut milk and raspberries) - my dc are all tucking into a Christmas pudding and custard I bought and forgot about and the smell is incredible, but I’m not really tempted. a week of clean eating has really curbed my appetite!

this week I hopefully have some temping lined up and I will prep my salad boxes to take with me, my evening meals are planned, and I have the chicken bones from tonight to make a soup. Plus lots of leftovers to package up some meal boxes of meat and veg. I’m booked onto a few gym classes and I feel raring to go!

Have a great week everyone!

neverendinglauaundry · 09/01/2023 07:31

Morning all!
Your menus always sound so nice @thenewaveragebear1983
I weighed in at 13st10.5 this morning so despite a wobbly first week I've lost 1.5lbs which is motivating! I've had German rye bread and cheese for breakfast (very filling) and having steak pie, mash and green veg for tea. Will pack myself a lunch to take in to work & try to stay under 1500 cals. I should easily get in my 10,000 steps on the commute.
Hope everyone has a good week!

GFLoser · 09/01/2023 14:25

Thanks @ifonly4 I've had a few more downs than ups lately but we're fully back into the work/school routine and I've done some mental planning. Feel a bit more on track. Your hol sounds perfect, nice to have it to look forward to!
I weighed this morning at 10st4.75lb which is a bit higher than it was after Christmas Blush but I'm actually motivated now- I want to hit 10 and stay there for the summer. It was hard work feeling chubby in summer clothes last year.
Bloody well done @thenewaveragebear1983 top effort!
I don't bother with breakfast, but took a gf sandwich and a (weighed!) portion of crisps (from a share bag) to work with my probiotic yoghurt. Have an orange if I fancy it later.
Dinner will be sausages and mash, some combination of vegetables. I usually avoid sausages when calorie counting but they need eating and I hate food waste.
Aiming for 1100 cals today but we'll see!

ifonly4 · 09/01/2023 15:00

I suspect it won't be good news if I weight now, so am going to do that end of week. No idea what we're having for tea, but today have had a small bowl of cereal, cheese (minimal) wrap and a rich tea biscuit. I have a bananas sat on worktop in kitchen and lounge, to try and keep me focussed if I get hungry late afternoon. I've done about 45 mins walking, lifting at work and some tummy toning exercises (need to do more of the latter!).

Thinking about it, ideally I'd like to have lost 9lbs, but if it means I can keep it off long term, I'll settle for around the 7lb mark.

OP posts:
LessSugarIn23 · 09/01/2023 16:05

Hi, can I join?

I have a stone to lose ideally but 7lbs would be great.

I'm going to read the whole thread when I get home and really need some people to help me along the way.

My downfalls are wine and sweets. I'm not a massive chocolate fan.

I'm aiming to do 16:8, eat more veg, consume less sugar and move more.

neverendinglauaundry · 09/01/2023 18:17

Welcome @LessSugarIn23
I have managed 1550 calories today on 8000 steps but will go for a walk in a bit.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/01/2023 18:41

Welcome @LessSugarIn23

Thanks everyone !

i have had a good day today, I think that’s my longest run of good days in a very long time. But I am fully in the throes of detoxing of all December’s crap. My skin is breaking out and I feel on a bit of a rollercoaster, feeling amazing one minute then really tired. I cancelled my gym class this afternoon and when I listened to my hypno I just had a little nap instead. I did go for a walk later on though. My meals were chicken, avocado and fruit for breakfast, chicken broth and a small leftover roast dinner for lunch, and dinner was Bolognese and lots of veg and 2 roast potatoes. And a Tin of pears (I have a childhood legacy love of tinned fruit). I think my hypnosis is having some effect too, I am naturally just not snacking and served myself a much smaller portion for all my meals today without thinking about it, it just dawned on me afterwards.

tomorrow is my last day of leisure as I have some temporary admin work set up from Wednesday which could last until feb half term (and I really hope I have a permanent job by then!) so my time at home has come to an end. I’m glad. I have really benefited from a few weeks off but it is stressful looking for work and now the builders are in, it’s not exactly relaxing here at home when I’m confined to one room! I’m going to go to a 6am gym class and also try to get a short run in if I can as it’s my last chance for a daytime one!

LessSugarIn23 · 10/01/2023 08:49

Morning,

So day 1 completed:

Morning: 3 black coffees
1pm: Pasta & 1 sweet
6.30pm: steak, mash & veg / small mousse
No wine.

So did fasting but I didn't calorie count though. I weighed in at 10st 10lb yesterday morning.

I've not managed to read the whole thread yet.

Hope everyone has a good day.

ifonly4 · 10/01/2023 10:42

LessSugarIn2 - you're more than welcome to join us. Everyone still posting has had their ups and downs, but we're all in thhe same mindset and getting there. You did really well on day 1, doesn't matter if you're not calorie counting, it's all about working out what's best for you.

After saying I wouldn't weigh for a few days, I did his morning. I still have 1lb of xmas weight to loose, but overall I'm down 5.5lbs which surprised me with the tempting shed load of alcohol, biscuits and chocolates we were given (some are going to have to go into DH's work place or a food bank I think). Back to my one exercise class this morning.

Hello,
How's everyone doing? A mate turned up yesterday unexpectedly and it was his birthday so I was forced to drink wine and eat cake 😂I estimate I was at 2000 calories for the day. Today I managed a decent outdoor swim. My period has just started and was feeling a bit wobbly so have had a substantial snack so will probably end up being about 1800/1900 but I'm justifying it with the swim.

neverendinglauaundry · 12/01/2023 16:32

Hi all, I've had a couple of ok days. I'm really struggling to avoid boredom eating today.
B. Granola bar coffee
L. Steak, spinach
S. Apple & mango (boredom snacks - I wanted a tub of ice-cream and some biscuits so could have been worse)
I'm at about 800 calories and going out to a Japanese place to eat tonight. I reckon I'll be at about 1600 to close.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/01/2023 17:47

I’ve had a good few days, I think this is my longest run in a very long time of 100% on track. I’m not counting any calorie or weighing anything, but I’m also not eating any junk food or processed food (think like slimming world but without the syns or healthy extras). I’m starting to feel really good. Sleeping brilliantly, feel really energised. Came home from my temp job and cleaned my house while listening to a podcast, felt really good.

I ran a few times and did a few classes this week as well. I didn’t do my mid-week checkin in on the scales. I am due on in a few days (another benefit of such clean eating, no PmT, no bloating etc) so I don’t want to feel disheartened by a hormonal gain, but I might step on tomorrow in the morning maybe.

hope everyone is feeling good as we enter the weekend. 2nd dry weekend of Jan and I just know dh will crack and open a red wine tomorrow so I need strong willpower!

neverendinglauaundry · 12/01/2023 21:58

That's great @thenewaveragebear1983 ! You're inspiring me :-)
I'm going to have Monday as my main weigh in day I think.
