Just weighted myself and I am...

Drumroll please...15st 12lbs 😥. I'm tall so can get away with it to some extent but i went on holiday recently and felt the whole time feeling uncool and uncomfortable.

I've been struggling with my weight since coming off the pill over 10 years ago but this is an all time high (or low!) point.

Where to go from here?! I love exercise, and when I'm good with my diet I'm good, but I have such a sweet tooth and can eat a massive bar of chocolate every night. Time to chance though as this is ridiculous.

Anyone fancy joining me to have some accountability?

Hi, we got back yesterday and I need to reign it in! Not just for weight but general health so happy to plod along with you.

Picking up a food shop this PM, so start tomorrow Grin

JimmiChoux · 24/07/2022 11:07

I will join you, starting tomorrow.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 24/07/2022 15:38

Great, will be nice to have some company as we go! I reckon I have about 3 stone to lose, but will start with an initial goal of a stone. I've also taken my measurements as if I keep the exercise up I want to track the change that way too and not just on the scales.

I've just recently discovered miso soup which is a great recipe for a tasty meal that's only around 100 calories a pop.

I'm aiming for 5kg and will measure my very bloated waist tomorrow.

Good luck @Givemestrengthorvodka and @JimmiChoux

Are you me? I weighed in at exactly the same when school broke up. I'm also tall so can "get away" with it to a certain extent but none of my clothes fit and I'm so uncomfortable!

My plan for the holidays is this:
Daily exercise - can be anything.
Attempt 10k steps daily in addition.
Two meals - lunch & dinner, with reduced processed junk.

I'm aiming to lose a stone over the six weeks and get into some good habits for when term starts again. 🤞🏻

Givemestrengthorvodka · 25/07/2022 16:17

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I'm fed up feeling so uncomfortable in my clothes now. It's gotten to the stage where I unbutton my jeans by default whenever I sit down! I'm overweight all over but definitely carry extra weight around my lower tummy, really want to lose that as much as I can! A stone in 6 weeks sounds like a great goal...I'm hoping for similar. I have signed up for a 10k in my local town that takes place in 9 weeks. That's the bit of pressure I need to make me focus on goal and get the head down between now and then.

After a false start yesterday (pizza and profiteroles 🙄) I'm doing better today with scrambled egg for brunch and miso soup with prawns for dinner. I got up early and did a big walk before work and I'll do a spin class or similar this evening.

@YetAnotherWalk and @JimmiChoux how are you getting on?

OP posts:
myfuckingfreezer · 25/07/2022 16:31

How tall are you?

I'm 5.7 and 15 stone 10 pounds, and don't feel I can't get away with it!!

For context I was this weight two years ago and lost 4 stone in 4 months. Our one stone back on in the first year, one stone in the second year, and 2stone in the last 5 months (it's been a stressful time!) so now starting again but know it's possible in a short time.

catfunk · 25/07/2022 16:43

Op I was the same weight as you a few months ago - it's crept up as I'm unable to exercise at the moment but like you I'm fairly tall and dress carefully so I look about a size 14 max when clothed. I was actually an 18-20 and felt awful naked.
I cut out processed food and refined carbs, chocolate, sugar etc for a few weeks to reset. Strawberries and raspberries only for treats and lots of protein and natural fats such as nuts, avocado etc.
I'm now back on occasional treats such as the odd Takeaway or square of dark chocolate on an evening - but don't go mad and the majority of my diet is healthy and unprocessed.
I've lost a stone slowly since April but it feels sustainable rather than a crash diet.

catfunk · 25/07/2022 16:44

@myfuckingfreezer your lowest and highest weights are around the same as mine! I'll never get back down to around 12 stone but would be happy with 13 stone.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 25/07/2022 19:01

@catfunk how did you manage the change of diet when you made the decision? Did you follow a plan or just do it yourself? Those first few weeks (and no doubt every day onwards!) take some amount of grit and determination that I can't seem to get past.

@myfuckingfreezer I'm 5ft10. Some days I think I can get away with it (to some extent) but then catch myself in a shop window and realise I look a lot worse than I hope.

OP posts:
YetAnotherWalk · 25/07/2022 19:05

Hello all, well I've shrunk because I'm about 1.5 inches shorter than I thought which means my BMI is worse.

My biggest worry is the belly - 37" Blush BlushBlush I get horrendous bloating and awfully unpredictable cycles and an underactive thyroid.

Successfully gave up full sugar Coke in January - it just doesn't exist for me at all now. Not in the shop, not in a cafe or restaurant because if I go back, I won't stop.

Done OK today - 8 hour eating window, teeth flossed and brushed.

Hope you all have a good night.

LilacLaurel · 25/07/2022 19:23

I'll join!

Weighed in at my heaviest this morning 16.7 but I don't have the height to go with it! I am going on holiday 6 weeks today and was thinking I'd love to get a stone off so it's good to see others with the same goal.

Today has gone well so far, Tuna salad for lunch and a gousto box meal for tea although I haven't managed to get out for a walk.

My aim is going to be to stick to 1700 cals a day or less and at least 70k steps a week. I have also messaged the owner of the gym I go to asking him to do some full body measurements for me to spur me into action (I've not been to the gym is so long I also need a new fob after they got a new system about 6 months ago Blush). I'm also going to give up alcohol for August and DP is on board with that so I'm determined to stick to it, we don't drink during the week but normally drink both nights at the weekends.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 25/07/2022 19:26

@YetAnotherWalk well done for today's effort! I'm looking on track too...a mint tea and a square of dark choc and then I'm done for the day.

My bmi is coming in at 31.8, highest its ever been. I'm going to try and find foods that are good for pcos as i definitely have it and I'm hoping that a better diet will reduce some of the symptoms.

@LilacLaurel do you have children?

No, why? Grin

Givemestrengthorvodka · 25/07/2022 19:35

@LilacLaurel great to have you on board, the more the merrier! 6 weeks sounds like a decent goal that a few of us are working towards. By the end of the 6 weeks I want to have lost a stone or not far off and be back to running 3 or 4 times a week and on track for doing this 10k at the start of October. I only run when I've lost a bit of weight otherwise it just knackers my body so that will be a good indication of my weightloss and fitness levels hopefully going in the right directions.
i took my measurements the other day (probably not very accurate!) And I will remeasure every couple of weeks.

I wish I just had a bit more grit to not give in to the sugar cravings. I'm good for a few days and then all hell breaks loose!

OP posts:
LilacLaurel · 25/07/2022 19:42

@Givemestrengthorvodka thanks, I am the same with exercise, 15st seems to be the magic number for me, I really struggle with cardio when I am any heavier than that. So my plan is to carry on walking plenty (I have actually managed to do 70k+ steps a week for the last 5 weeks, I've just been eating crap at the same time!) and go to strength based classes at the gym. Once I've lost a bit of weight I will introduce more intense cardio sessions. I could never dream of running 10k so well done you!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 25/07/2022 19:51

@LilacLaurel walking is so good, and 70k a week is a good goal. Sometimes i struggle to do more than a couple of K in a day. I get what you are saying about exercise and diet going hand in hand. I find if I'm good with the eating then I exercise a lot more and then that helps to motivate me. But when I have a blip with the eating I tend to stop exercising too, even though I really enjoy it.

Have you tried any of the Les Mills classes? I used to do their classes at the gym and then got the app during lockdown. I love the combat class and you can easily keep it low impact but it still gives a great workout, and they have just brought out a S&C class as well.

OP posts:
LilacLaurel · 25/07/2022 20:00

@Givemestrengthorvodka yes I've only done 2k today as I've been swamped with work! I used to stress about getting 10k a day before realising I can more than make up for a bad day throughout the week so just aim for 70k over the week now.

I haven't done any Les Mills but there are lots of classes at my gym that are more S&C based and can be personalised based on fitness levels, I count myself lucky as it's a great little independent gym and all the staff are lovely.

SavingsThreads · 25/07/2022 20:32

I was just going to encourage you to go out for a walk now! Start today, not tomorrow. You'll be so pleased with yourself even if it's just round the block

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 25/07/2022 20:54

I've done Les Mills, in the gym and online over covid, really enjoy them. There's some good deals on the online stuff atm if you can't get to a gym.

I've done a Zumba class, a Spin class and a yoga class today. My Apple Watch has clearly forgotten it's meant to be doing this and has been excitedly spewing out movement awards all day. 😂

Blowyourowntrumpet · 25/07/2022 20:58

This strikes a chord with me. I'm 6 foot and 9 weeks ago I was 15 stone 13. I'm now 14 stone 8 but still another two stone to lose.

wetwiped · 25/07/2022 21:05

I'm really really struggling at the moment and a similar weight height - 15st 5lb back to heaviest and 5ft 9. My stomach is huge, always been on the large side but perimenopause has added the inches. I walk most days 10 - 15k, but I just cannot seem to get the calories under control.
So, yes please I'll join and hope the accountability will help me find my will power.

Appalonia · 25/07/2022 21:09

I recently lost over a stone doing low carb. For me, it's the only weight loss program that really works. And the support on the Low carb boot camp on here is fantastic!

Ah I would have done normally but have a work deadline in the morning and only just turned my laptop off! Have set an alarm to get up and go for one before work though!
