Drumroll please...15st 12lbs 😥. I'm tall so can get away with it to some extent but i went on holiday recently and felt the whole time feeling uncool and uncomfortable.

I've been struggling with my weight since coming off the pill over 10 years ago but this is an all time high (or low!) point.

Where to go from here?! I love exercise, and when I'm good with my diet I'm good, but I have such a sweet tooth and can eat a massive bar of chocolate every night. Time to chance though as this is ridiculous.

Anyone fancy joining me to have some accountability?

Jalu I like rumermorleypt for nutrition & exercise motivation too

YetAnotherWalk · 26/07/2022 20:11

Oooh moving quickly. Busy day with lots of running around.

I like IF because it reduces my window for face stuffing with bad rubbish.

Brain a bit blank now, so will come back tomorrow.

We are out for a picnic, so just made egg mayo to have with salad on home made brown bread and tea will be chicken risotto with asparagus.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 26/07/2022 21:55

@wetwiped and @jalu47 thanks for those recommendations, I've followed them both.

My numb mouth after the dentist has stood me in good stead today...just a small dinner, mint tea and some dark chocolate. And I did a 40min spin class this morning - day 2 of 2 done ✔️ .

Morning everyone. I'm getting out of my comfort zone with an aqua Zumba class this morning. I can be mega clumsy at times so 🤞🏻 I don't drown. 😂

Givemestrengthorvodka · 27/07/2022 08:24

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa 😁 I think the lifeguard would struggle to tell if I was dancing or drowning! Bet that will be a great calorie burn.

I've got a day spent in front of the computer ahead but either gym or a swim tonight - maybe both if I have time!

Hope it went well @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I've always thought it sounds fun as I hate getting sweaty from exercise.

Yesterday was day 3 of IF and that's always a tough one. Was hungry before and after my window. Tomorrow will throw a slight spanner in the works as we have a motor way journey after work, so think I won't stick to it but should then be OK for the weekend.

Have a good day all!

LilacLaurel · 28/07/2022 07:12

Hope the aqua Zumba went well @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I've always wanted to try aqua spinning but nowhere near me does it!

Not much to report here, I had a really bad sugar craving yesterday afternoon but I had some magnum ice creams in the freezer and still had plenty of calories for the day so had one of those. I try to put my lunch and dinner in MFP in the mornings if I know what I am having, so that throughout the day I know what I can/can't snack on! Weirdly knowing that I have enough calories to have something sometimes means I end up not fancying it after all, it's like some weird reverse psychology.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 28/07/2022 07:54

Aqua zumba was fab!! So much fun. Didn't sweat at all. Booked again for next week.

First weigh in for me today and I'm down 5lbs. Very happy with that!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 28/07/2022 09:48

Morning everyone. Well done on all these efforts this week!

I've had a good week so far. Managing to stick to my meal plan. My DH and DC came home yesterday with fish and chips and I managed to resist and just have my chicken and veg. I have such an all or nothing attitude that if I had eaten even just a few chips I would have deemed the whole day a failure and go on to crack open the crisps and chocolate 🍫 .

I did a half hour exercise class last night and a bike ride with the kids and this morning I got up early and did a one hour spin class...again all or nothing attitude so when I'm being 'good' I'm being very good and totally go for it. I wish i could be a bit more balanced with it as I'm sure that attitude is why I keep stopping and starting.

The threat of this upcoming 10k seems to be working though. Its only 8 weeks away so not time for messing about.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa well done thts great progress!

JubileeTrifle · 28/07/2022 11:03

I was the thinnest I’d been for years at the start of lockdown. Remember seeing an old colleague the first week in a supermarket who told me how amazing I looked.
Piled all the weight back on. Currently have a stomach bug and weirdly using that as a kickstarter as I’m off food and think I’ve lost a bit so will keep going.

SouperNoodle · 28/07/2022 11:10

Hi! Can I join? I'm 14.7 and feel disgusting. My stomach is huge whereas it used to be flat.
I had an omelette for lunch and was really proud of myself for being healthy but then saw chocolate in the fridge and caved.
Going to have wraps and fruit for dinner tonight to make up for it!

Mustardbay · 28/07/2022 11:22

Hi I'd like to join too!

I'm 16stone 4, and 5ft 4, size 20 and I feel awful, my joints hurt, my stomach is so big and I feel so uncomfortable. I was a size 12/14, then had a baby and put some on, then put more on during lock down and I've just not shifted it and as I've gotten bigger I'm moving less. I'm drinking way too much alcohol which is a massive factor too.

I'm going to calorie count on my fitness pal, and only drink 2 nights a week. I'm going to lose a stone by the time my 'baby' starts school in September.

Thank you for letting me join you all.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 28/07/2022 11:34

'Starting tomorrow' is a classic fuck up.

Why cant you start now?

Because on said diet you are going to deprive yourself certain food groups (potentially binge on them today as a 'goodbye') and then said diet is unsustainable, you will crash off it with a binge.

Eat MORE fruit, veg, protein. Don't think of it as eating 'less'.

wetwiped · 28/07/2022 12:25

Brilliant loss @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa - that must feel great!

I've not had a particularly good couple of days, couldn't get out on an evening walk for numerous reasons, but also not horrendous. I'm not consistently eating less calories though so need to do better if I want to lose and not just hang about at this weight.

Today I'm getting a long walk in and it's Tuna salad for dinner. Oh and I'm going to get back to drinking plenty of water, I'm very hit & miss with that.

Have a good day all.

LilacLaurel · 28/07/2022 13:06

@wetwiped I see such a difference when I up my water intake, I've managed 3 bottles a day this week (2.25L) but my aim is really 4 bottles so I'm pushing to hit that today. I drink 3 easily through the day whilst working, and then just forget to drink anything else after I have had my tea!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 28/07/2022 13:40

@JubileeTrifle @SouperNoodle @Mustardbay welcome aboard! Hope this can be a nice and supportive group for us to share our highs and lows!

@Butteryflakycrust83 I can only speak for myself but if I refer to eating less, it's really just short for 'eating less shit' rather than food in general.

My goal isn't just to lose weight but to have a healthier and fitter body. I've tried random diets in the past that were a disaster but my day to day eating involves too much chocolate so reigning in that and carbs is a definite goal but it is hard to make the lifestyle changes for the long term. Hopefully just for the short term, it does feel like I am denying myself (as I bloody well should be given the amount of shit I would eat if I didn't deny myself it).

Thanks @Givemestrengthorvodka!
How's your day going?

LilacLaurel · 28/07/2022 15:03

Well I had my first big 'test' today. A group of us go into the office on a Thursday which is right by a McDonald's, so naturally it's turned into a weekly treat (despite us barely going at all when we used to be there every day before covid!).

I decided I would take carrot sticks and houmous for my lunch and just get a little something from McDonald's. I ended up getting some halloumi fries and a Coke Zero which was 210 cals, and tbh I enjoyed it just as much as I would have done if I had a full meal + McFlurry! I'm going to try and do that from now, I know if I hadn't got anything I would last 2-3 weeks of doing that and then pig out but just having that little snack meant I didn't feel left out!

Welcome to those who have joined us Smile

hi @DrowsyDragon - do you track? I find that using my fitness pal massively helps. I planned my whole week last Sunday and I feel it takes all of the thinking out of it - helps with efficient shopping too! I planned snacks as well - at least three today - and it's really helping. I have been trying to get started for about 2 months and failing miserably but feel so motivated this week. I hear you about the little ones.. my 20 mth old gets up about 6am so I usually have breakfast before 7 so i'm starving by lunchtime 😂

DrowsyDragon · 28/07/2022 15:44

I have in the past, probably need to get the habit back. it's so easily to mindlessly snack. I meal plan for me and the kids and the Dh drifts in with snacks for everyone all week.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 28/07/2022 21:46

@LilacLaurel that is a good test of will today, well done!

And welcome @DrowsyDragon !

I found these in sainsburys today and they are pretty tasty and tick that treat after tea box

Good morning everyone!

Did a five mile hike yesterday and I've another slightly longer one planned for tomorrow. I've woken up today feeling proper blurgh though. I've tested and it's not covid thankfully but I'm just going to chill today I think. I do have a Zumba class booked later on but I'll prob skip it.

If I had those skinny bars in my house, I'd have to eat all of them. I've no self control so when I'm starting out like this I just don't buy them!
