Just weighted myself and I am...

Drumroll please...15st 12lbs 😥. I'm tall so can get away with it to some extent but i went on holiday recently and felt the whole time feeling uncool and uncomfortable.

I've been struggling with my weight since coming off the pill over 10 years ago but this is an all time high (or low!) point.

Where to go from here?! I love exercise, and when I'm good with my diet I'm good, but I have such a sweet tooth and can eat a massive bar of chocolate every night. Time to chance though as this is ridiculous.

Anyone fancy joining me to have some accountability?

So after feeling very demotivated yesterday morning I found the willpower to have a really good day rather than give up and order a takeaway for tea and it paid off! 2lbs down this morning Smile

Lifeisarollercoaster647382 · 05/08/2022 09:30

@DrowsyDragon sorry to hear about your back. It's so draining isn't it? Well done on your lb lost.

@Givemestrengthorvodka thanks for the heads up I am going to see if they're in my local one this morning.

@LilacLaurel good on you for persevering.

I have lost 2lb this week which has given me a boost! So I'm enjoying banana, a few oats and natural yoghurt fir breakfast 😋

Givemestrengthorvodka · 06/08/2022 09:35

Morning all! How is everyone getting on? @LilacLaurel well done on the 2lbs loss. Bet that felt good.

I still haven't weighed in yet....Will have to bite the bullet soon! I've really enjoyed my exercise this week. Did a 45 min run/walk yesterday. I love running and think if I was 3 stone lighter I would actually be pretty good at it! The threat of this 10K is looming and helping me focus.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

YetAnotherWalk · 06/08/2022 19:36

Hi all, some good results on the scales and in other ways - well done to you all.

Up and down here.... haven't got batteries in the scales, but the tape measure said 2" off my waist.... but not sure if that was just holiday bloat and or the combination of monthly cycle. We shall see what happens over time.

But have enjoyed cooking a few different things over the last fortnight. Have a great weekend!

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 08/08/2022 09:37

@Givemestrengthorvodka have you braved the scales yet? Well done on the 45 minute run/walk, having the 10k to work towards is a good goal, I've not managed as much exercise as I would have liked so far I really need to get my arse into gear!

@YetAnotherWalk 2 inches off is fab, hopefully once you have working scales you will see a nice drop in weight.

I have had a disastrous weekend, was at MIL's for the weekend and all I will say is she is a feeder...I was annoyed at myself last night however on reflection I've realised it's always going to be the same so I need to work weekends like this into my weight loss for it to be sustainable. As I weigh daily and take a weekly average the weekend hasn't had too much of an affect so I have still lost 2.3lbs compared to last week. I am glad I don't weigh weekly as if I had weighed this morning and seen I was 'still' the same weight as last Monday I would have been disheartened, but I know it's just mainly water weight from a bad weekend and I was 2lbs lighter for part of the last week.

Onwards and upwards for this week, I have tracked todays meals and snacks and still have 400 calories left which I will try not to eat to give myself a bit of a boost and I'm going to make sure I drink plenty of water today.

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend, and if not you are ready to get back on track Smile

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 08/08/2022 09:59

Just realised I should have said I have had a name change, was LL!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 08/08/2022 22:22

Well, I thought I was doing not too badly but weighed in today and I've put on 4lbs...argh! How is that even possible so quickly?! I feel like a lost cause at the moment...can't go more than a week without eating too much crap and busting my calories. It'd been this weird battle with myself for years, it sucks. I have a healthy, strong and fit body and wish I could lose this weight to give my body the respect it deserves. I'll stick with it, keep going and try and get better at logging ALL my calories!

@YetAnotherWalk well done on the disappearing inches, that's brilliant! And you too @PanicAtTheBigTesco over 2lbs loss is fab, I'm absolutely appreciation for how tough it is to achieve that right now!

Have a good week everyone

Just chucked out all the chocolate in the house other than those skinny bars, and did a half hour spin class already. Time to show this fat who is boss 🤞😬

Lifeisarollercoaster647382 · 09/08/2022 14:02

@Givemestrengthorvodka it's so tough!

I have gained a lb this weekend as I have been away to the coast. We have family this evening so i assume it won't be a good night tonight either but onwards and upwards, hopefully tomorrow will be better.

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 10/08/2022 10:12

@Givemestrengthorvodka it's so hard and frustrating, make sure you take some measurements as you have been doing a lot of exercise so you are hopefully losing inches!

Well done for not letting it get you down and instead using it to motivate you further, it's so easy to just give up!

@Lifeisarollercoaster647382 hope you had a nice evening yesterday, we are going to friends tonight and not sure if they are doing a BBQ or pizzas in their new pizza oven but either way it won't be particularly healthy! I normally end my fast around now with a snack but I'm going to fast until lunchtime instead and have a healthy lunch to keep my calories for the rest of the day as low as possible!

We finally have good weather here and I'm hankering for a nice cold glass of wine in a pub beer garden but really trying to stick to no alcohol, have bought some alcohol free Kopparberg cider to take with us tonight which I'm hoping will satisfy the craving.

jalu47 · 10/08/2022 14:07

On day 2 of horrific gastroenteritis - have felt like death and not eaten anything. Not a particularly healthy way to lose weight but i'll see what happens when it passes.

Lifeisarollercoaster647382 · 10/08/2022 15:27

@PanicAtTheBigTesco have a fab bbq. I hope the alcohol free drink helps curb your cravings, I always find lime ans soda helps me.

I had a lovely night, back on the healthy eating today. I have turned down an ice cream today and sat with my water and watched everyone enjoy theirs. I wasn't as bothered as I thought u would be.

@jalu47 sorry your not well. Hopefully your not super hungry when you do feel better, try and stay hydrated in this heat

Givemestrengthorvodka · 11/08/2022 08:13

Morning everyone. @jalu47 I hope you are feeling better, gastro is so awful!

@PanicAtTheBigTesco hope you enjoyed your bbq. Did you manage to stay off the alcohol? I find it almost impossible in those social events.

I've had a much better few days, tracked every calorie, stayed within my limit and some exercise thrown in. Heading off today though for a few days so it will most likely go to pot.

OP posts:
Givemestrengthorvodka · 11/08/2022 08:14

@Lifeisarollercoaster647382 Glad uou didn't miss the ice cream too much. I did the same yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I thought!

Morning, been quiet as been away. Did a lot of walking though and lost 4lbs this week. 9lbs since I started at the beginning of the school holidays.

Need to keep up the momentum but am very very achy today, plus I'm not great in the heat.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 11/08/2022 11:21

Had a lovely evening thanks and tried to reign it in a. It with my food choices, managed to stay off the booze I actually really liked the alcohol free cider!

@Givemestrengthorvodka well done on getting back on track, hope you have a nice trip away!

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa wow 9lbs is brilliant well done! Definitely have a rest day if you are sore, I would normally suggest a hot bath but that's not what you want right now Grin

jalu47 · 11/08/2022 11:22

@Givemestrengthorvodka @Lifeisarollercoaster647382 much better thanks! Feel like a different person - it's so horrid. Have been careful about what I've eaten so far just plain toast and some plain pasta. Feel like I can get back to normal today and still feel motivated to make good choices!

rosepelargonium · 11/08/2022 20:47

May I join?

My weight has crept up from a bit overweight most of my life, gradually since having children 14 years ago. I was slim for prob 7yrs in my twenties.
Weight gain really ramped up in the last 2 years since several bereavements (including dh). Comfort eating to an extreme - except it doesn’t comfort me - I just keep hoping it will!

Really ashamed to have got to a BMI of 39. I am embarrassed to even be seen in public, I really am. I will NOT get to BMI 40.

I eat way too many refined carbs, but have tried VLC diets and I just feel dreadful - weak, shaky, dizzy. Not compatible with work. Reaching for quick food and a sugar high - life and work very busy. Menopausal too.

So, am doing a combination of IF, calories around 1500, low GI carbs and good fats, more fruit and veg, more exercise (relying too much on dog walker). A bit less alcohol and caffeine too.

Have started 3 days ago and going well so far!

I have also taken determined steps to simplify my work and home life where possible, and long overdue self-care - regular haircuts, some make-up, new shoes - more time for reading and relaxing hobbies.

Just over 5 stone to lose… aiming for 2 stone by Christmas

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 12/08/2022 07:32

Hello @rosepelargonium and welcome to our little group. We aren't the most active on here but we are very welcoming. I'm sorry for your losses.

I ended up having a mega lazy day yesterday. I felt guilty last night but I've woken up feeling a lot less achy and ready for the gym in a hour so I think actually it was definitely the right choice to make.

Have a good day everyone.

IllTrytobenice · 12/08/2022 08:13

Hello! I weighed 16 stone the other day and I'm a shorty. Was horrified!
I'm starting today and my plan is usually 2 meals a day but focusing on unprocessed food if I can. I'm having scrambled eggs with some cheese for breakfast and then got chicken and peanut salad for lunch.
If I get super hungry later, I'll have a slimfast shake. And oh, drink lots and lots of water!

rosepelargonium · 12/08/2022 19:51

Thanks @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa
at least I’m drinking more water and not so hungry in this bloody heatwave…
4th good day so far but I’m not doing well on the steps - roll on. Cooler temps next week!

Rogue1001MNer · 13/08/2022 12:06

Hello everyone.
I joined this thread early doors, having started to reintroduce exercise, cut down on drinking and eat sensibly.
It had been going really well, and I'd lost a stone and a half.
But I've just been away for 2 weeks and put half of it back on.
I knew it was bad... my thighs weren't chaffing when I walked at the beginning of the holiday, but they were by the end 😪

Weighed and measured this morning.
Yup. Back to 15.5. Very depressing.

I've been swimming this morning, and I'm going to have a dry day.
<heavy sigh>

It would be nice to have some partners in this.
I'd like to be 13 1/2 stone by Christmas, with the aim of getting to a bmi of 25 by February half term.
I'm hoping that's realistic? 🤞🤞🤞

Lifeisarollercoaster647382 · 13/08/2022 16:35

@Rogue1001MNer sorry to hear this, was it a good holiday?

I haven't dared weigh myself, it's been a family birthday this week so I don't think the number will be pretty. Its been a lovely week though 😂

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 13/08/2022 16:59

Happy weekend all and welcome to our newbies, even though we don't post every day I am finding this thread is definitely keeping me more on track.

@rosepelargonium sorry to hear about your DH and other bereavements but it sounds like you have a good plan in place, 2 stone by Christmas is a great goal and I'm looking to lose something similar.

@IllTrytobenice chicken and peanut salad sounds lovely, weirdly considering the heat my water intake has gone down this week I really need to focus on drinking enough next week.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa don't feel guilty for having a rest day, they are needed to help us keep going, I try to have 2 rest days a week and do extra steps on the other days to make up for it.

@Rogue1001MNer wow 1.5 stone before you went away is great! As disheartening as it is to put weight back on at least you know you can do it now, I always find getting into it the hardest part.

Average few days here, I have been hitting my steps and just staying under my calories but not eating particularly healthily and 16:8 went out the window, Magnum's have made up much of my diet these last few days

Today has not gone well, we went to pizza express for lunch and I had a glass of wine...just couldn't resist in this sunshine and we are going out with friends tomorrow and I had decided I'll have a drink then so had a momentary fuck it moment whilst ordering our drinks earlier, regretting it now but will definitely not drink again after tomorrow until bank holiday weekend.

Going to plan meals for the week ahead tomorrow to hopefully make up for the bad weekend, and I'm just about to text a friend I met at the gym (who hasn't been in as long as me!) to see if she is up for going back to a class this week. It's a lovely small gym and the staff are super friendly but I still get a bit scared of going back on my own after a long break Blush.

Elsa2000 · 13/08/2022 19:21

Is it too late to join?

I am 11stone 7lb and 5ft 3.

I have the worst sweet tooth and will sometimes skip lunch and just eat choc and cake! Terrible.

having a bit of a health scare. Dr thought maybe I had gallstones. Been having a few gastric issues. Lady doing scan said no stones but she said I needed to start looking after myself more (stressful job, full time, 3 x kids etc). Fibroids were discovered on my scan.

caught glimpse of myself in mirror today. My boobs are a particular nightmare of mine. I look so matronly. So bloody old. Like a little round ball.

I have a peloton and I’ve done 12 workout classes this week alone. Snacking on sugar is my downfall though.

due to health issues as above I’ve given up caffeine and alcohol. Makes zero difference to the number on my scale.
