Just weighted myself and I am...

Drumroll please...15st 12lbs 😥. I'm tall so can get away with it to some extent but i went on holiday recently and felt the whole time feeling uncool and uncomfortable.

I've been struggling with my weight since coming off the pill over 10 years ago but this is an all time high (or low!) point.

Where to go from here?! I love exercise, and when I'm good with my diet I'm good, but I have such a sweet tooth and can eat a massive bar of chocolate every night. Time to chance though as this is ridiculous.

Anyone fancy joining me to have some accountability?

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa hope you are feeling better soon. We are camping this weekend with friends so will just be eating what I like but hoping to fit in some walks and biking so burn some of it off

Those skinny whip bars are nice as a low cal treat, i didn't realise you could get them anywhere other than home bargains!

My go to is a fibre one brownie warmed for 5 seconds in the microwave or a small bag of popcorn.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa hope you are feeling better this evening, there's covid in my house but I've managed to avoid catching it so far (still never had it!).

This feels like the first Friday in forever I am under my daily calories, I've brushed my teeth and come up to bed already with a big bottle of water to prevent me snacking or pouring a gin. Up early tomorrow to do a bit of holiday shopping and will probably end up having lunch out so I'm going to try and fast until we eat lunch to save some calories in the morning.

Good luck for everyone's first weekend!

wetwiped · 29/07/2022 22:21

I've learnt over the years of dieting, I cannot have any form of sweet treat in the house or I eat the lot - in one sitting.
I'm trying to ease my after dinner sugar craving with high protein yogurt & fruit. Sometimes I add a couple of mini meringues, coconut are my favourite and they are low cal.
Have a good weekend everyone. I'm going to hit the scales on Monday so need a very good 48hrs!

ButnotforLola · 30/07/2022 21:50

Finally a good day for me!
Calories are low. Exercise could be better but one step at a time.
Been looking at joining our local leisure centre. Planning on visiting tomorrow and asking some questions about classes. It looks like the evening classes are all booked up for weeks ahead.
Feeling like I'm finally getting somewhere.

jalu47 · 31/07/2022 07:21

I feel like I've had a good start. I've been under my calories of 1900 every day and hit my protein and (mostly!) fibre goals.

I had pizza and wine last night but it was all accounted. I'm really trying to live normally and just be conscious when i eat/drink, otherwise I find it's just never sustainable..

I think it'll take longer but I I'm ok with that for now.

2lbs down and counting 🙌🏻

@jalu47 I am exactly the same, if I give up everything I will never stick to it...I am giving up alcohol completely for August but just as a kick start before my holiday in September!

First week weigh in and I'm down 3lbs which I'm really happy with as I haven't done as much exercise as I had hoped. That's also despite having a burger for my lunch yesterday that was probably more than my daily calories and was so salty I thought it would mess with my weight today (it was the only thing I ate all day though as I ended up unintentionally fasting from 2pm until 10am this morning).

I will be weighing in on a Sunday as I weigh daily and track on the Fitbit app which calculates an average each Sunday, as it's the first week I've tracked in a while there's no average to compare to so I have just taken todays weight vs last Mondays weight for this weeks weigh in.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend, the sun is finally out where I am after rain for the last week!

SouperNoodle · 31/07/2022 19:45

I've had a good day today! Didn't pig out on junk, just had two meals and didn't finish everyone's leftovers.
I usually have a glass of wine after the kids are in bed but I'm sticking to tea tonight.

How's everyone else getting on?

YetAnotherWalk · 31/07/2022 20:46

Sounds like some good progress everyone.

Good here thanks @SouperNoodle Been away over the weekend so meals not too great, but I've stuck to my 8 hour eating window for 6 days out of 7. Friday after 10 hours of work with 3 hours on the motorway deserved a treat!

I would weigh, but my batteries have been swiped so just going to see what I can get sorted this week. Meals planned for tea time. Breakfast will be Total yogurt, berries and some nuts and lunch a bit up in the air, but you can't be perfect right Grin

Givemestrengthorvodka · 31/07/2022 23:22

Evening everyone, we were camping this weekend so a bit heavy on booze and carbs. But pretty active too to balance things out. Looking forward to a focused week ahead!

I'm joining, I am short, 5'2". I weigh my heaviest at 13st.1. honestly look like a wee all, all belly and arse. Being short there's no hiding it. I'm late 40's and it's harder to lose weight now. I don't eat a great deal, I think my metabolism has slowed.

DrowsyDragon · 02/08/2022 10:16

Morning all. Bit of a disaster over the weekend as i have injured my back and can't really exercise - even walking the kids to nursery hurt but I am trying to keep off the comfort snacks and will weigh again tomorrow. Good luck to you all!

jalu47 · 02/08/2022 17:06

I am struggling a little as I have had to start a 6 week course of oral steroids - plays so much with water retention and also can make you starving! I've been really good and I know I should have lost weight but I'm now 2lbs more than last week. Have to keep in mind that when I stop the medication the water will come off and I'll hopefully lose quite a bit, if I continue to eat well and exercise. Need to focus on long goal!

Lifeisarollercoaster647382 · 02/08/2022 19:25

Am I too late to join the party? I have two stone to loose and have been for a big swim after work and now waiting for my pie to cook 😳

I need help! I am 5.10 and 14 stone 1

Givemestrengthorvodka · 03/08/2022 15:17

Hi all, how is everyone doing?

@Lifeisarollercoaster647382 Not too late to the party at all...its only just starting!

I resisted a Chinese at my friend's last night but then came home hungry and had toast and beans and chocolate. Need to try harder not to let myself get hungry like that and manage my appetite a bit better.

Toast and beans today, miso soup for dinner and some kind of exercise is today's plan.

@DrowsyDragon how is your back? Hope its easing up a bit.

And @jalu47 water retention sucks but after least hopefully will flush out once you stop the medication!

Hi all, a string of disasters making you wish you weren't an adult this week. Just plodding on as best I can.

Wishing you all a good week

@Givemestrengthorvodka I hear you on being good and then being so hungry you crack! I do find protein massively helps to fill you up. Are you veggie? A protein bar is always a favourite for me - they are calorific so need to be built in but they are a yummy treat and I feel like I've eaten a full meal after - so filling.

Sushi was lunch for me and some carrots and humous as snack. Busy day is flying by so that's helping.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 03/08/2022 15:31

@jalu47 I've never thought of protein bars before, that's a good shout. What ones do you have? And can you get them just out of normal supermarkets?

I'm not veggie, so should fill myself up with chicken!

The Fulfil ones are my favourite - they aren't cheap so wouldn't have them every day but I find they are like eating a chocolate bar but with 15g of protein. A great snack which always leads me to a smaller portion for dinner! M&S do them and I think Sainsburys too - often by the tills. You can prob order online too..

Lifeisarollercoaster647382 · 03/08/2022 19:01

Thanks, I am with a few of you that I want a healthy relationship with die, so accept it may take a bit longer.

@jalu47 at least if you don't loose a bit and accept its the steroids you will not get too demotivated and keep going hopefully.

I think I trip up when I don't loose, or congratulate myself with rubbish to celebrate a loss. Its a loose loose situation and I need to get myself out of that way of thinking.

Chicken and roast veg for tea tonight

Lifeisarollercoaster647382 · 03/08/2022 19:31

Diet rather than die 😂

LilacLaurel · 04/08/2022 07:22

@Givemestrengthorvodka well done for resisting the Chinese! You are right though I think we can take it too far sometimes and end up starving which leads to bad food choices, I'm a relatively recent veggie and still struggling to get enough protein into my meals to fill me up I think.

After losing 3lbs last week my weight has now been the same for the last 6 days, this is where I would normally have a fuck it moment and give up but I'm really trying to push through and keep at it this time, and if I'm still the same weight come Monday I will look at reducing my calories a little to see if that helps.

DrowsyDragon · 04/08/2022 09:21

Hi @Givemestrengthorvodka back still not great but managed to come down a pound with just being food careful so that's something. waiting on the GP and a bit worried they will just sya 'lose weight'

Givemestrengthorvodka · 04/08/2022 10:05

@jalu47 I found Fulfil bars in sainsburys last night and they are half price at the mo so I've got some to try. I also picked up some oat so simple pots. 180 cals a pop, dead easy and I can add some blueberries etc to it. Aim over the next few days for me is to balance my calorie intake with not letting myself get hungry.

Stick with it@LilacLaurel , it definitely isn't a linear path and demotivating when things aren't moving but it will all pay off in time.

Well done @DrowsyDragon on losing a lb, brilliant, especially when you are struggling with a sore back.

@Givemestrengthorvodka thanks for the tip they are on sale, might stick up on a few.

Had a good today, super full and still managed to fit in some Tony's choc 🙌🏻

Got pizza planned for tomorrow as my dad is trying out the new oven he built in the garden and sure there will be wine, plus a wedding on Saturday. A more calorific weekend than usual but happy knowing I've done really well this last week and it's all about balance. Will help me focus next week too.
