But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

Aww thanks @KitchenFishCurry.
I miss potatoes…

Welcome @blardyfeck! I don't think exercise makes that much difference - although it is one of the pillars for LP. I'm going by another poster who had 3 stone to lose like me, she said she concentrated on diet alone for the first 1.5 stones then looked at exercise for the remaining 1.5 stone.. having said that I've been trying to do a 10 minute yoga most days, walk 70k steps over a week, and go to a weights class at the gym if I can.

chloechloe · 07/05/2022 19:20

Hello @blardyfeck , welcome! To ease yourself in you could always start with the food and add on exercise later. I’m doing the exercises from the 6 week book. I’m not looking forward to starting the 2nd workout next week in my week 3.

What is the main issue with exercising - is it that you haven’t found something you like yet or are you too pressed for time etc?

Food today:

Vanilla oatbran porridge
Wood-smoked salmon with grilled aubergines and courgettes (courtesy of DH on the BBQ).
Leftover roasted pepper and tomato soup.

blardyfeck · 07/05/2022 20:01

Thanks for the replies. I think the issue with exercise is I feel so huge at the moment. And time is a factor (I know, it's a crap excuse).
I feel like I'm changing a lot by really focusing on my eating. Once I've lost a bit, I reckon I'll be able to do some exercise.

B: Apple Bircher prepared last night
S: crispbread, cashew nut spread, strawbs
L: Asian salmon salad
S: oatcakes, peanut butter, blueberries
D: goats cheese frittata & salad

I'm so full, I can't believe it tbh. The portions are v generous!

Hobbes8 · 07/05/2022 22:05

Welcome @blardyfeck! I think exercise is supposed to be more important for maintaining weight loss than it is for losing weight in the first place. It’s more to do with keeping your metabolism I think? I’m sure you’ll be fine just with the food and maybe gently introduce some exercise later. I don’t do the exercises in the book - I’ve been doing weights and stuff and Pilates just from YouTube videos. I definitely find it easier when I’m a bit lighter - feeling it in my knees at the moment.

HardRockOwl · 07/05/2022 22:12

@blardyfeck hi! Welcome.

No need to exercise tbh unless you want to. Exercise has loads of benefits but I think we all know that weight loss is overwhelmingly about what you eat - or rather, what you don't!

So just do what makes you comfortable. Like you said, drop some weight and that'll automatically lead to you wanting to do some exercise

HardRockOwl · 07/05/2022 22:14

And I don't do the exercises in the book - so far I've not looked at them! The only exercise I do consistently is swimming which I do 5 times ish a week. And when I say swimming, I just sedately do 1000 metres each time.

And I've lost 17 lbs so far - hoping for 18 lbs by my 6 week weigh in on Monday

A bad day food wise yesterday breakfast bircher and late dinner roast vegeatables and cottage cheese but grazed from the fridge the rest of the day, there was a lot of eating standing up at the fridge door, will try harder today. I did do plenty of exercise yoga , body pump and running . I ran in my shorts instead of my hundreds of layers of clothes (I suffer badly from the cold) but they will be going back in the wardrobe we are shrouded in misty fog this morning probably due to talk of a bbq

Toomuch2019 · 08/05/2022 07:43

Loving this thread. I'm 2.5 weeks in and 7lb down so not doing too badly. I'm a bit rubbish at the exercise element though need to get on that!

A bit worried about my step of the circle later (going to Pizza Hut for 7yo DD birthday) -just going to try and have a lot of salad bar and not as much pizza as normal.

Does everyone have the lemon water every morning? I'm ok 4/5 days a week but sometimes I get that tea craving so bad!!

Toomuch2019 · 08/05/2022 07:46

Welcome @blardyfeck
Good luck for the weigh in tomorrow @HardRockOwl!

HardRockOwl · 08/05/2022 07:55

@Toomuch2019 that's a brilliant loss so far. You must be pleased!

I don't bother with lemon water - I don't really understand the benefits tbh. Seems like a load of old woo to me plus it'll damage teeth so needs drinking via a straw. So all in all, it's not for me personally.

We may need a new thread for tomorrow potentially!

Personally I'm not bothering with the specific exercises because I'm postpartum so instead I'm trying to do a postnatal exercise video on YouTube every day to build up my strength again. I've also not quite been managing to do 10k steps every day but will aim for it next week. Progress not perfection!

I don't know if any of you are on TikTok but I think the That Girl aesthetic on there is very similar to the LP method, and is good for extra inspiration. Though it can be a bit intense!

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 08/05/2022 09:32

I’m so far out of the circle and I’ve put on a 1.5lb in 3 days. Its only one thing wrong a day. I need to het back on track. It all went wrong when I started to read her 6 week book and I was overwhelmed by a wall of words and it felt like too much to do. Not only change your diet, exercise, tidy your house, meditate - it all feels like too much. Anyone else struggling with this?

@Toomuch2019 I drink a glass of luke warm water. I breast feed overnight and I don’t normally drink enough water so this has made a big difference when I do it.

blardyfeck · 08/05/2022 09:55

Slightly concerned but I seem to have put on 2 pounds after day 1.....

Anyone else's scales go in the wrong direction??

Very weird as I absolutely followed the plan (weighed things, ate 3 meals and 2 snacks, didn't veer off the plan at all) but it could be that my body isn't used to all that food (I'm guilty of regularly binge eating crap and often miss meals).

Anyway, I'm not going to stop, I will carry on as I felt really good last night having not eaten any bread, pasta, rice, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, cakes etc.
I'm sure it will take a couple of days to "reset" my body. Fingers crossed.

And yes, agree on it being a bit overwhelming re. adjusting every aspect of your life. I'm concentrating food first, then exercise, then I might work on my decluttering and brain napping, whatever that is

ps congrats on all the losses, it's really motivating.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 08/05/2022 10:33

Thanks @blardyfeck. That sounds like a good plan. Are you weighing the same time of the day? Drinking enough water? Constipated? Wrong time of the month?

blardyfeck · 08/05/2022 11:13

Yep, I'm definitely not drinking enough water, plus it's coming up to TOTM.

GoodNutButters · 08/05/2022 13:12

As I recall Louise suggests only weighing once every couple of weeks or once a week so that you can focus on the lifestyle changes and don't get disheartened by random daily weight fluctuations - this is what I'm doing! It's a bit scary not to count calories or weigh myself every day but part of doing this for me is getting out of that doomed cycle of dieting, and it actually feels very liberating so far.

I agree thought that it can all feel overwhelming to tackle at once. Personally before I started on the food I did spend a few days sorting out my house a bit, and making the kitchen and bedroom in particular a lot more organised and aesthetic (nice looking glass jars for food ingredients, and clear surfaces), and I have found this has REALLY helped me stay in the mindset for eating and exercise. Everything just feels a lot more manageable in my house now.

PrincessCarolyn · 08/05/2022 13:58

I drink a glass of water first thing before having coffee or tea (decaf only as that's all I have at home) but no lemon - don't like the taste and it's not good for teeth.

Yes it can seem overwhelming to make all these changes - for some people, tidying can be done in a day or two, for others it's a major decluttering project which will take months (currently in the middle of mine).

Hobbes8 · 08/05/2022 18:50

I can confirm that I’m in the major decluttering camp, @PrincessCarolyn Two young kids, one of whom never gets rid of anything, plus a bulging wardrobe that I need to sort out…but when I’ve lost just a bit more weight.

Stuck to plan today in time for weigh in tomorrow.
B: banana pancakes
L: Greek frittara
D: prawn stir fry
S: oat cakes and hummus

Plus I did some weight and 11k steps in the sunshine.

Hi all. Day 1 almost over.

Breakfast - Courgette fritters with fried egg and feta
Snack -Monkey toast
Lunch - plate of different raw veg, parma ham, a little blue cheese
Dinner - Wagamama

Dinner in Wagagamama not ideal on day 1 but Louise says there's no good time to begin and it was my daughter's birthday. I had the naked chicken Katsu and didn't eat the rice so actually, I think it was completely on plan!

I agree to it all being a bit overwhelming but I'm trying to see it as paying attention to things around me that would make me happier or would look after me a bit so after prep week I have nice tulips on my hall table, I got properly fitted trainers yesterday (something I've put off buying for myself for ages telling myself the discount ones are fine). The trainers are a revelation. They don't slip at the heel and my feet don't move around in them - I've skinny feet, the only part of me that is of course. I've also got an eye test booked for tomorrow which is about 6 months overdue. All this and my bedroom's still a shocking mess. Louise wouldn't like it. But progress not perfection and I'll gradually make it nicer. I think all this is really important for me for the mindset. We'll see how it goes....

KitchenFishCurry · 08/05/2022 20:16

Breakfast Bircher
Lunch avocado toast on GOOD ( homemade) wholemeal bread
Dinner double bean burger from cook book and salad
Snack chocolate flapjack
Exercise 10 mile walk

I'm having a real app glitch again and it keeps chucking me out when I flip the thread to the last comment.

So annoying. I'll set up a new thread tomorrow I think

OP posts:

I have an apple computer and the new site is a nightmare on safari but seems better on chrome. I can't download the whole thread and if I get a notification it takes to the first page of a thread not the end. Maybe its a sign from the universe to do a digital detox
