WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I was looking for thread to join so here I am Smile
Im on a general mission to sort myself out. I was only complaining yesterday that I feel I’ve totally lost my way. I’ve done no exercise (apart from some light walking) for weeks, have been eating too much crap, going to bed very late and have to get up early so I’m wrecked every day, I took out a book from the library with good intentions but haven’t opened it, I’m behind on paperwork.

Diet wise, I’m doing intermittent fasting with a general whole food approach within calories of 1200.

I’m aiming for 10 mins daily weights and more walking to start off with.

Foreverlexicon · 28/02/2022 09:07

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

Welcome @DepthOfTheAbyss

Well I rounded off my weekend with a big bag of Doritos and dip for dinner Hmm

But straight back on it today. Usual plan of 1500 calories + exercise.

I’d REALLY like to get under 150 before the 17th when we go to Thailand for my 30th. That would be a loss of 3.3lb plus whatever I gained this weekend.

My hours increase this week though still not full time and I’m back into the office so will be a tad harder to fit in exercise but I’m feeling optimistic.

ginsparkles · 28/02/2022 09:39

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

Sending to @SunshineCake1 am glad your scan went well. And thoughts are with you and DD.

Back to work and school routine so am back fully on board now. Here's todays plan, it's more carb heavy than I would like but it's under calories so that's ok.

Meal 1 spinach and pine nut pasta salad
Meal 2 spinach and ricotta tortellini
(It's also fairly spinach heavy I just noticed! Very popeye!!)

Have a yogurt, fruit and cereal bar for snacks if needed.

ImALittlePea · 28/02/2022 09:40

Checking in for March 🙂 thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

Feb roundup... I'm currently -10lb in 2022 so far! Loss in Feb was only -2lb, but that included half term (out with kids, so more cafe lunches, treats with them etc). I didn't quite stick to no midweek wines this month, but I'm still drinking far less than I was at the end of last year. (Btw, not bordering on alcoholism over here, but had got into the habit of a glass of wine with dinner most nights, which is just needless empty calories). I made it into the next stone bracket down, and stayed there. So overall I'm happy with my month.

I don't have a specific target weight as such, but I'd like to get into the next stone bracket down and then have a comfortable wiggle room. So that's probably another stone off, or thereabouts. Happy for this to take time, as I want to be able to sustain it.

Targets for this month:

Would love to lose 5lb 😬 which would take me under the next half stone. It's my birthday early April so to lose that much would be such a boost, plus allow me a few days off without teetering back towards the next stone bracket up
Move more!! Still haven't figured out when I can fit this in what with the kids, my working pattern, therapy and other commitments. Would love to manage to carve out and COMMIT TO 2 x decent exercise windows per week (even if 'just' a walk)
Aiming for no takeaways at all this month, as these definitely slipped back in more as February went on
I'd be so pleased with myself if I did zero midweek wines and crisps this month

Does anyone else have any targets for March?

mner1896 · 28/02/2022 09:58

Day #1 here....I've been trying to get back on the wagon every Monday since January and only manage to make it until midweek Blush But I have an event in April I would like to lose a few pounds for to feel at my best and I'm very aware that I don't have many more Mondays left to start over!
My plan is 2 meals a day (just fits in best with my working pattern), lots of walking and a couple of weight training sessions a week. My biggest downfall is stress eating/drinking Sad

Crazzzycat · 28/02/2022 09:58

Checking in on the new thread! Thanks for setting this up @TheRealHousewife

I took out a 3 month membership of NutraCheck last week and am keeping my fingers crossed that that will soon get me to my mid year goal of 72 kg. I have just over 2 kg to go, so it sounds achievable, but you just never know with weightloss!

One of the things I really want to get under control this month is my salt consumption, as apparently I’m eating too much 😬

Exercise is a big part of my plan. I’m working on doing 2022 km in 2022, using a combination of walking, cycling, rowing and x-training. It’s hard work, but I find it incredibly helpful to have another set of numbers to focus on when the numbers on the scales aren’t budging!

ginsparkles · 28/02/2022 10:10

@ImALittlePea
Target for March, is first to kick the February gain, and then see a loss so I would also be happy with 5lbs.

However I am going to be kind to myself as it's the anniversary of dads death this month so I know lots of horrid milestones are headed my way. So I will take whatever losses I can get, and most certainly want to end the month lower than it starts this time! I need to get back to the gym but am struggling to breathe post covid so am not sure how I will cope with a gym session.

TheRealHousewife · 28/02/2022 10:21

You’re welcome about the new thread, I’m happy to do it ☺️ It’ll be 3 years running in June 😯. The early threads were about losing 7lbs in a month. Found that a bit ambitious for most of us 😬

Welcome to the thread @DepthOfTheAbyss & @mner1896 Great ladies here who are supportive and very helpful! You’ll both fit right in 👍

@ImALittlePea you’re doing great so far this year! You’ll soon be a petit pois 😬

@Crazzzycat I’m a bit cavalier with salt and I’d benefit from reducing my use of it too. It just makes everything so much more tasty 😋

@ginsparkles ❤️

@Foreverlexicon what an exciting trip to look forward too. Thailand is awesome!

Aim for March is to lose a couple of lbs and to up the exercise. Work is seriously getting in the way but I have next week off then we should be back to some sort of normality. I need to up my running because I’m getting behind on my challenges.

BTW I’ve name changed from swampytiggaa 😊

TheRealHousewife · 28/02/2022 12:04

Welcome to the new thread @HouseofHolbein, lovely for you to join us all again. Name change noted 👍 (nice band btw)

ImALittlePea · 28/02/2022 13:00

@ginsparkles fingers crossed for us both ❤️

Hahaaa @TheRealHousewife I'll need a name change won't I?? 😂

I also love salt too much @Crazzzycat bit as Real says it just makes food taste better! What steps have you planned to reduce your intake?

SingaporeSlinky · 28/02/2022 13:45

Checking in.

Had a blip last week as it was half term, I was doing ok, and managed to sneak off to the gym twice while DH wfh so he watched the kids. But the in-laws came to stay and brought a tin of quality street, plus we had a Chinese takeaway. I’d already gone up a pound, now up another 2 🤨

Hoping it’s partly water weight from the takeaway, as I can’t have actually gained 3lbs since Wednesday. But I am more determined this week to lose it. Did 2 hours in the gym this morning, and booked onto classes every weekday.

Today’s plan:
1 coffee, yoghurt with granola, blueberries and strawberries.
Green tea
Lots of water
Fast 800 mushroom pizza with a little leftover chow mein. May skip this depending how hungry I am later.

Back to IF between 6.30pm and 11am

Crazzzycat · 28/02/2022 15:25

@ImALittlePea my high salt intake is a bit of a mystery to be honest. I don’t add salt to anything I eat and don’t eat ready meals or anything like that. So if my salt consumption is too high, then I think the majority of the population are probably in the same position without realising.

My first step is replacing half the stock cubes I use with zero salt ones. I eat a lot of homemade soup and just doing that reduces my salt intake by around 15%. Apart from that, I’m a little bit stuck! I guess the occasional packet of crisps I have will have to go too 🥺 I wouldn’t mind if I occasionally go over, but it’s every day, which can’t be good.

I've been lurking since the start of the year and reading along but held off posting but going to just leap in now as it's so good to have somewhere and someone inspiring to help keep on!

I lost three and a half stone about 5 years ago and it was steadily creeping back up. I then put two and a half stone on over lockdown Blush and then another stone over the last year so was the heaviest I've ever been and significantly heavier than most on this thread. I've simply been counting calories and moving a lot more and trying to have a couple of days each week where I stick to about 800 calories and its working for me (although last week, went up for the first time so boooo!)

So, deep breath:
SW: 104.7 kg
GW: 60ish kg
CW: 95.2 kg

So almost 10kg gone but an awful lot more to go. My scales are in kg's and I quite like it but do have a converter which I check - so almost a stone and a half gone.

I think it's easier when you're pretty big to start - it's when you get down to the last few llbs and kgs that it gets so very hard. But I've got to to do it... I'm a single parent to two and want to be around for a very long time so need to improve my health!

BellaElla99 · 28/02/2022 17:40

I’m joining this now! Currently eating my Chinese feeling so sick and I am not doing another fat summer. Need to lose 3 stone. I think I’ve asked to join every thread for the last few months and then fallen off!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/02/2022 18:13

Signing in. Not weighing until Wednesday though, I've been very off the wagon since last Thursday and I daren't look yet. Just started the week with a bodycombat class though, so onwards and upwards.

I'll be trying to keep my calories and exercise on track this month. Got a trip away at the beginning of April so hoping to have a few more pounds off before then!

TheRealHousewife · 28/02/2022 18:14

Afternoon All

Welcome to the thread @SanFranBear. Well done on your previous losses (proves you can Lose It). Not being interfering or anything and It’s entirely up to you how you do this but I’m thinking if you want to be able to stick to an eating plan perhaps up your calories a bit. 800 a day, ever day is tough. You might do better longer term if you develop an enjoyable and sustainable way of eating. You can do it! 👍

Welcome @BellaElla99, have you developed an eating plan?

@Crazzzycat I don’t add salt on food after it being cooked, only add during cooking. Still I’d like to use less.

@SingaporeSlinky that’s an impressive gym session 👍👏🏅

Name change would be cool @ImALittlePea. … @ImAPetitPois has a certain Parisian feel 😬

CumbrianExile · 28/02/2022 18:56

Hi all.

Can I jump on board to? I've been lurking since the Jan thread but I think I need to make a commitment to post so that I am accountable as my weight has crept up since then.

SW/CW : 14 stone 12.8
GW : 10 6 (top end of healthy bmi but I will assess as I'm getting closer).

I am calorie counting using nutracheck. I swim twice a week and am trying to up other exercise. Today I went for a 10km walk and I'm aching now 🤣

BellaElla99 · 28/02/2022 20:25

No plan as of yet! I will work on one tomorrow! I feel really heavy and full all the time. It’s so hard because I’ve done a mixture of slimming world and calorie counting and I’m trying to break out of both being so restrictive. With calorie counting i ate so much rubbish but slimming world led to be binging on the weekends and being overly restrictive.

kagerou · 28/02/2022 20:40

I'd like to join in if you'll have me ^^

I want to start eating more healthily , exercising and (hopefully) get back to my pre-baby figure.

I know my weight gain could have been worse and I'm still quite slim by most people's standards but i don't feel like myself and miss my old wardrobe!

Not entirely sure where to start as I've never tried weight loss before and I'm terrible with exercise.

Maybe intermittent fasting + trying to get at least some exercise in each day Hmm

SanFranBear · 28/02/2022 20:46

Thanks so much, RealHousewife... but the 800 calories is only on two days a week - the rest of the time I'm on 1450 and do quite often eat back my exercise calories. I honestly wouldn't survive long on 800 every day!!

EssexLioness · 28/02/2022 21:26

Can I join please? I lost over 3 stone and been maintaining for around 8 months now. Still got about a stone to lose though before I hit my goal weight so time to stop mucking about and refocus.
I lost most of my weight doing WW so will be going back to that (the old purple plan, not the new personal plan)

Angliski · 28/02/2022 21:41

@SanFranBear I’m 96kg so you are not alone!

Target weight 60kg also.

I’m intermittent fasting for at least 16 hours each time and getting away from flour and sugar and grains. I’m very sulky about that as I love rice and bread but I just cannot shift the weight if I don’t stay strict. I’m so uncomfortable at this size….

Today:

Big salad with cooked and raw veg a bit of tuna Mayo and some goats cheese
Dinner- greens carrots and cashews fried in coconut oil. Couple of tablespoons of yoghurt for dessert.

SunshineCake1 · 28/02/2022 21:46

Welcome to all the newbies.

I hope to lose at least two pounds in March. Sounds low and rubbish but it is doable as long as I don't get ill or break any more bones 🤞🐢🐢
