Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

Big pat on the head sparkler

Are you still a gym bunny?

My spin classes start again next week.. think i'll try & get onto both the Tue & Thur night ones

Misdee · 04/01/2008 12:54

i had tomato cous cous (ainsley harriot) and crack black pepper quorn fillets, and it was lovely.

Sparkler · 04/01/2008 12:55

I want to be a gym bunny but haven't been able to go for three weeks. I pulled my calf muscle and my total tone class and haven't been able to excercise. My right ankle is black and blue at the moment where the bruising is coming out. I'm hoping to go on Monday when the kids are back at school and see if I can do some gentle excercise, ie walking on treadmill and arm weights, just to get myself back into it again. I'm taking dds swimming this afternoon so hopefully I can try and swim a little.

Hi BEADMUM - I'm new too - as others have said there's strength in numbers!
Having a mixed day. Decided to forego the toast this morning and save Healthy Extra for later on when getting peckish. So had yogurt and fruit which satisfied me for all of 1o mins. So now I'be brought my syns(biccies) forward, and will have to have HE this evening! Why is life so complicated!!! SPARKLER - you are v.good with your fruit - do you have a mix? FIREFLY - good on you for the spinning claases - I used to teach them many moons ago, along with step classes - if they could see me now, lol!I did find them the most effective way to lose bodyfat, though the hardest by far!

supersaluki · 04/01/2008 14:08

Hey everyone
just thought I would pop in and read up on how you are all doing

I have been sticking to the plan and the exercise and so far so good I am down one pound in half a week

as I hope to average out one pound a week I am feeling fine with that

lurcherlass · 04/01/2008 14:40

Interesting discussion about omlettes (black forest gateau omelette, with no eggs for me please).
I made the sweetcorn frittata from the SW mag. It's done in a loose bottomed cake tin in the oven. I decided to try having that for brekkie this morning and it was more filling than my usual cereal. That leaves me a spare HEB which might be spent on 2 alpen light choc'n'orange cereal bars instead of mince pies or choccies but I'm already thinking about my hot-weather shorts and tops. This year will not be another roasting-in-trackie-pants-and-a-cardi summer for me

kid · 04/01/2008 15:18

Could you post the sweetcorn frittata recipe lurcherlass?
Is it really a breakfast thing or more of a late morning snack?

cherryredretrochick · 04/01/2008 15:27

I nearly always have eggs of some sort for brekkie, quorn something or other as well. It means I can save my HE for ryvita minis (my crisps) later on and I feel smug when I think the rest of the world has prob just had crappy toast. I love spinning as well, am worried that when I get back my fitness will have dropped so much I won't be able to do it.

hercules1 · 04/01/2008 17:28

Hi, can I join in please

I lost about 4 stones last yaer with CD but have since put on a stone. I went to a meeting last night but tbh I dont think the whole group meeting thing is me really. Much prefer to use mumsnet!

Not a great start though. Had a very small slice of choc cake and had egg, bacon (no fat), grilled tomatoe and mushrooms in a cafe for lunch. I thought that would be okay for a red day but I must confess it was glistening a bit.
I am hoping to count the bad stuff today as part of my syns??

welcome Hercules, you sound like quite an expert if you've lost 4 stones!
Kid, the frittata thing is anything you want it to be . I had it with pasta in sauce for lunch one day, with jacket and beans another and this morning I ate it on it's own. It's just 4 eggs, 2 x200g tins of sweetcorn, fried red pepper and seasoning. I would say, put anything in it you like. It's a bit like a quiche without pastry! You have to line a loose bottomed cake tin with Greasproof paper, spray with frylite and pour the eggy mix in. bake until just set and let it stand before you cut it up intl slices. all free on green. i guess you could add bacon and cheese if you had heb's to spare. Make sure you use one whole peice of greeseproof and fold it up the sides, otherwise, the egg escapes

Beadmum · 04/01/2008 20:52

lurcherlass - like the sound of the frittata, will give that a try next week. i do like to have eggs for breakfast, more filling than toast or cereal and saves using any he's.

Havent been too good today, chocs were calling to me from the cupboard weigh day tomorrow anyway so will start afresh then

lurcherlass · 04/01/2008 21:02

Are you snowed-in over there Firefly? I hope you're not imprisoned in the house with all the Christmas goodies!
Just had a masssive plate of spagetti and roasted aubergine pesto (worth the syns!) I'm in carb-heaven now

andyrobo237 · 04/01/2008 21:12

Diege - leave the muller rice in the supermarket - the standard ones work out at about 11 syns, and the low fat ones are about 5 if I remember!

kid · 04/01/2008 21:32

I am surprising myself and doing really, really well. I haven't touched any chocolate for 3 days!
On my first day back at SW, I only had a pasta n'sauce for dinner and was starving.
But yesterday and today, I have cooked meals from scratch using quorn sausages. They were so tasty and I am completely full. I haven't even used all my syns up so I could have had even more if I wanted to!

I am looking forward to weighing on Monday so I can see how well I have done. I hope its good, but any loss I will be happy with.

cherryredretrochick · 04/01/2008 21:56

I had quorn sausages for tea but couldn't be arsed to make frylight chips, are oven chips really bad?

missiesparkles · 04/01/2008 22:19

god I'm dreading my weigh in, my consultant was full of such high hopes for me over the 3 weeks my group has been on hold + although I've spent the last 14 days sticking to the plan rigidly, I have been somewhat slack with my drinkies, mainly beer I did weigh myself on one of those boots things and it said I was 2.5lbs over my pre xmas weight but I did have my shoes + coat on (which I NEVER wear for my weigh in obviously, lol) but that was about 10 days ago so FINGERS CROSSED...

I'll be happy with 2lbs off my xmas weight tbh...

EsmeWeatherwax · 04/01/2008 22:54

Hi, Just put the lid on the empty box of ferrero rocher, and was wondering if it would be ok for me to join you guys. I can't make it to a class near me, I work on the only evening there is one, so could really do with some chat with other SW folk. I've done SW before and lost feck all, cos I have always been notoriously crap at dieting, but am feeling much more positive about the whole thing now.
Anyway, got a shedload of weight to lose, six stone, so time to get the hell on with it!

kid · 05/01/2008 00:23

Of course you are welcome here, we are going to do our best to support eachother.

I am finding SW ok to follow, okay its only early days but I know I can do it. I was following it before Christmas and lost 11 lb.

I want to lose around 2stone but will see if I really want to lose that much as I get closer to that target.

cherryredretrochick · 05/01/2008 09:37

Esme, six stone is not that bad, break it down. I have lost 4 stone since dd2 was born (21mnths). I never thought I would get this far you just have to try not to rush it. Don't think of it as a diet think of it as your new life plan. 1 or 2lb a week doesn't seem that much but it adds up very quickly. Anyway welcome aboard.
I have had loads of eggs and mushrooms for brekkie so hoping for a better day today, nearly all the chocolate has now gone at least and I haven't put anything on over xmas/operation. I was hoping to lose a bit more, ,my friends always said my boobs must be at least 1/2 stone but turns out it was only 2lbs .
Kid you sound like you are doing fantastic, good luck missiesparkles.

Diege · 05/01/2008 09:40

Morning . Hope everyone has good weekends - I've always found Sat night quite hard food-wise - not that I have a life and go out or anything, but always associate the weekends with SW 'time off' somehow!. Having said that, when I attended classes it was a Monday weigh-in which always necessitated some discipline (ok, usually startvation all day MOnday - you should have seen how ill and dehydrated we all looked going into class ).
Good to hear from others' inspiring stories! Thanks ANDRO for the muller tip-off - don't think I'll bother for those syns..far rather have a finger of fudge and a few rich teas! KID, I find quorn sausages a god send and probably have them every few days in some shape and form. My SW consultant used to despair of us as despite all her attempts at inspiring us with recipes, every week when she went round the room asking about our fave meals that week we would always answer 'baked potatoes, beans and quorn sausages' . CHERRY, oven chips are ok-ish - about 7 syns on a green day for an average size portion? (I think, I could be wrong) I know I certaintly use them a lot and don't see them as 'bad' foods. I'd stick to the chunky ones rather than the american fries style though . Hi ESME - same here, eveining work last year made me give up my class (it would have to be on the one night I did evenings) and now I have no desire to go back really. The people were lovely, but I suppose I resented shelling out quite a lot of money just be be told I'd 'maintained' . I did lose nearly 2 stone there, and was only 3 ibs away from target when I left. Now I have over a stone to lose to get me ready for ttc no.4 (I know I'm mad)!
Right, I've rambled enough!
Diege

hercules1 · 05/01/2008 10:10

Sorry sure it's been done a million times but how do you make fry light chips?

Diege · 05/01/2008 10:34

Hercules, I THINK it's as follows.. Peel and chop potatoes into 1cm ish chunks/slices, parboil and shake until roughed up around the edges. Put into hot oven on a baking tray sprayed with fry light, then spray again. Cook until they look ready! I also add a little paprika, and after 10 mins or so spray again (might as well just pour cooking oil in ). Hope this helps - would be useful to know if I've got it right too!

lurcherlass · 05/01/2008 10:54

Cherry, you asked about oven chips? I use McCains rustic chips, they are 1 syn per 100g and 300g on your plate is plenty. WW oven chips are 1.5 syns per 100g and the rest of the family liked them. If you want something you can just bung in the oven, try either of those.

cherryredretrochick · 05/01/2008 12:46

thanks lurcher, I know I should make them from scratch as described by Diege (do you like how I did that) but I just can't be bothered and it seems really unfair to ask dh to when he is looking after dc and me. I will try the McCain rustic, they sound nice. Just having a savoury rice for lunch, I am doing really well today.
