Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

I have 2 syns left. need to look to see whgat I can have.

hercules1 · 05/01/2008 20:18

Dos it make a difference to loss the number of syns yu use?

lunavix · 05/01/2008 20:33

hey everyone I'm back to stay... a little horrified at how much I've let myself go at Christmas, I'm joining a new group Tuesday so will know the damage then...

meal planning at the moment, doing beef stew off the site and it says to serve with a selection of free veg... what would you put with it? I think Stew, I think potatoes lol.

Have skimmed thread, well done everyone who's doing well.

misdee, I've signed up for race for life too, dragging a friend along!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 05/01/2008 23:25

Hi, forgot to rejoin the thread after the christmas binge! had exactly one week off but really went nuts and ate loads of chocs and chocolate biscuits, but back on SW as of the 30th. Not really done fantastically this week though as I appear to have rekindled my love of all things sweet and carby.

Plus my rather insensitive dp snuck a large pack of my favourite biscuits (3.5 syns each) into the trolley the other day without me realising. He's left the packet open with biscuits hanging out in the cupboard ffs. I haven't had a single one but it's taken all my resolve. Remind me, if he ever tries to quit smoking, to leave fags scattered sexily throughout the house!!!! grr

So decided to make an alternative instead using breadsticks (1 syn each) broke them up into 1 inch pieces, sprayed with frylight, sprinkled with a little sugar (had no powdered sweetener in, need to go shopping!) and a lot of cinnamon.

Unfortunately I got distracted, left them too long and burnt mot of them to bits but the ones that didn't burn were really nice! Will definitely try making them again, but only leave them for 5 mins max!

Didn't go to the weigh in on sunday, couldn't face finding out how much I'd put on, but definitely going on monday. No idea whether I'll have put on or maintained but doubt I'll have lost any. But don't care cos it's a new year, new start!

my weigh day yesterday and i put on 1 and half pounds so thats been 3 and half over xmas and new year determined to get all or most of it off this week.
I tend to use my syns for a choccy biscuit with cuppa in the evening, rarely use syns for meals as i feel theres not worth it there as choc & biscuits are my thing got into the mindset that something has to be really worth it to use up my syns (or should i say need to get back into that mindset after xmas binge )

lurcherlass · 06/01/2008 17:27

Lunavix- SNAP! I just made the beef stew. Trouble is, I like my carbs and I worked it out, on a green day, I could only have about 4 cubes of meat!I guess neither of us can win on this one! How many syns are you counting for the dumplings? My recipe says 3.5 syns per serving on a red day. Is that just for the dumplings then? If I HEB the beef.

Winetimeisfinetime · 06/01/2008 20:05

Can I ask all you SW experts a question please - I have a Tefal actifry that can fry 1kg of chips in 1 tbsp of oil. Am I right in thinking that on a Green day, if I use the oil as a healthy extra the chips would count as free food ? I don't actually eat a 1kg of chips as they are shared between myself, dh and ds but wonder if I get desperate for a bigger 'chip fix' I could eat the lot ?

lurcherlass · 06/01/2008 20:40

Sounds right to me...all round to your house, for a chip-fest then

Misdee · 06/01/2008 20:48

winetime, is that the new thingy that costs a lot but apparently makles really yummy chips?

i think its only olive oil that coumts as a HeB. but might be wrong!

Diege · 06/01/2008 22:04

Mmm real chip... Make SW chips seem like cardboard! BEADMUM, I am exactly the same with my syns! Feel that I really have to get my syns-worth; no wasting on meals etc, it has to be sweet and indulgent! Having said that I nornally make do with rich tea biscuits, just because I can have 5 of them with my evening cuppa.
Really interesting to hear about everyone's syns. In my old group everyone used their's on wine, and thought I was really strange getting excited over biscuits!
Well, SW challenge for me tomorrow as back at work. Must really try hard not to use the vending machines, but I find I get really hungry mid-afternoon, despite loads of fruit. I also have a 4 hour daily commoue (2 hours each way) on trains, with a 40 minute wait on way home - that's when the choccy calls!!!

kid · 06/01/2008 22:33

I started back on SW on Wednesday but as my weigh in days were usually on a Monday I was going to stick with that day. But, I'm thinking I'll be disappointed with my loss this week/half a week!

I have been really good, I haven't done exercise as I had hoped but I have cleaned the house top to bottom several times, so I was hoping this would count some way towards exercise.

Do you reckon I should skip weigh in tomorrow and do it from next Monday so it should show a bigger loss?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 06/01/2008 22:46

Oh dear. Went to visit family today, we couldn't visit them at christmas as they had that sickness and diarrhea bug going round, so this was the christmas "do" a couple of weeks late...

They had a buffet, and I had two slices of veggie pizza, one tuna mayo and sweetcorn bap, and an egg mayo bap and a slice of toffee cake, there wasn't anything healthier there so just had to say sod it as I was starving.

Then they gave us a massive tin of quality street (arse arse arse!) which dp is smugly demolishing in front of me. I've had two, but determined not to turn a bad day into a really horrendous day!

Winetimeisfinetime · 06/01/2008 23:12

Thanks misdee I had forgotten it was just olive oil that could be a healthy extra. But my dh informs me that the chips we had tonight were cooked in olive oil so that was ok - they were very nice too.Yes the actifry is dear - we managed to get an online discount voucher for John Lewis so that helped a bit - but the lure of low fat chips made it a worthwhile purchase for us. The chips it cooks are not as good as deepfried but definitely much better than oven chips and it is incredibly easy to use and clean and you can use it for things other than chips. So, are we on for an actifry chipfest round at mine then ?

Misdee · 06/01/2008 23:45

i really really want one of those actifry thingy, have been lusting opver them since i saw them in SW mag a while back. i think it wouldnt get used that much though which is a shame.

kid · 07/01/2008 07:34

I did weigh in today (I knew I would!) and I have lost 3lb which I think is great for 5 days
I shall continue to weigh in on Mondays and hope to see the weight continue to fall off. I am almost at my pre-xmas weight already so it wasn't that bad and I really enjoyed it.

Beadmum · 07/01/2008 09:05

well done kid
diege - bought some rich tea's the other day as only just realised how low syns they are, looking forward to my cuppa tonight (i know im sad )
james - i was at friends on sat night and it was a buffet too, only ever seems to be fattening things, grr. Never mind just say it was a flexible syn day. well done on controlling the power of quality street
im so focused today, fruit and muller for breakfast then will be in town at lunchtime so am going to have baked potato with beans at cafe as on a green day.

lurcherlass · 07/01/2008 09:23

Yeh, me too. Thanks for the tip Diege, I got some rich tea fingers, coz I like biscuits and it seems a lot of syns to spent on hob-nobs! I do save a HEB somethimes, for a breakfast bar. The allbran honey one could pass for a treacle/oat biscuit at a push

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 07/01/2008 12:26

Well done kid, that's a great loss!

Could do with a bit of moral support today, I'm terribly premenstrual and craving chocolate and biscuits. Dp has taken the dreaded quality street to work at my request, but half of me wishes he hadn't.

We've got sod all SW-friendly food in as I haven't managed to go food shopping yet, so I started the day with coffee and biscuits (7 syns) Can't eat fruit etc with PMT, just crave sugar and carbs. And the annoying thing is they do make me feel temporarily better!

Weigh in today and I don't want to go. I know it's mostly the PMT talking but I just know that when I find out the damage christmas did I'll want to drown my sorrows in dairy milk.

Misdee · 07/01/2008 12:28

can you make some potaoey type snacks?

Sunshine78 · 07/01/2008 13:34

Hav ejust joined slimming world and was wandering if I could also join this thread?

I'm a bit confussed by how many synns I am allowed a day can any one help me please?

laundrylover · 07/01/2008 13:50

You can have between 5 and 15 so what not plump for 10 Sunshine?

If you are bfing you can have 15 - yippee.

Sunshine78 · 07/01/2008 13:57

Ta for that I've sort of averaged out at 10 this week so far. Am not bfing as dd decided she had had enough!

My weigh day is Wednesday and I am hoping I've donr alright previously done ww but there is no club meeting near me at a conviniant time so thought would give sw ago.

laundrylover · 07/01/2008 14:16

I'm still feeding DD2 at 21 months - mostly so I can keep troughing chocolate. Have lost over 3 stone at SW and am a target member but think I won't be tonght when I weigh in after the Xmas excesses.

babyducky · 07/01/2008 14:54
