Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

I have just made a chickpea cake and its not bad at all. Considering its only 1/2 syn for the cake I am happy to munch away on that.

Let me know if you are interested in trying it and I'll post the recipe.

Diege · 03/01/2008 17:38

ooh yes please KID that would be great . I presume it's a savoury type of cake? I have memories of baked chick-peas cunningly disguised as peanuts many moons ago in SW class!

nikkid21 · 03/01/2008 17:41

Really hacked off with sw at the moment - not the diet but the meetings.

Turned up wednesday morning for first weigh in since Xmas and no leader turned up. So there's 20 of us standing outside in the freezing cold, having physched ourselves up for the Xmas gains and no one's there

Phoned our consultant on her mobile and she's starting a new group closer to home and the area manager was supposed to do my group temporarily. But she didn't bother to turn up

Rant over - as you can guess i'm pretty po'd about it. It's the only daytime group locally and I can't go evenings as dh works shifts. Basically we're going to have no one or be stuck with a temp who doesn't care that much.

On the upside I went to the gym today and the digital scales suggest that i've lost 3lb over Xmas. Don't belive them as i've had two weeks of eating like a pig. I'm now struggling to motivate myself this week as I don't have a starting point for knowing how much I will have lost my next weigh in.

Veg man has just delivered so am roasting beetroot, carrots, parsnip and butternut squash to snack on over the next couple of days. Just add fry light, garlic and pepper. Now I just need to keep away from the tree choccys

Nikki

Have had a bit ofg a choccie craving today, whcih I am doing my best to ignore

SheikYerbouti · 03/01/2008 17:51

also, most chuffed to find out that feta is a healthy extra a and b (it wasn't according to my 2005 book, but is according to new book I got yesterday due to old book falling to bits!)

bohemianbint · 03/01/2008 18:32

Ooops, I'm swerving my meeting tonight because bathroom scales reckon I've put on about 4lbs! I'm going to get back on board and get that back down in time for next week.

Can someone please tell me the password?

kid · 03/01/2008 20:54

Here is the chickpea cake. DH hates it (good, all the more for me). I think I like it because I feel so starved!

Ingredients:
1 tin chick peas, drained and washed
1 tbspn almond essence (or any other flavouring, I used cinnamon today)
1 tsp baking powder (1/2 syn)
3 eggs
3/4 cup sweetener

Put it all in a blender and whizz until smooth, put it in a cake tin that has been sprayed with fry light. Cook on gas mark 5/190 ish for about 30 minutes.

You can add some jam to it to make it taste more like a bakewell tart, I did that and its really yummy.

lurcherlass · 03/01/2008 21:01

Weird isn't it, before Crimbo I was quite happily plodding along wth my SW, trying some new recipes and staying off the junk. After just a fortnight of naughties, I'm now craving cake, biscuits and chocs and a Mullerlite just won't do I just hope I can lose the taste for "fat food" again...

Right anyone up for a bit of friendly competition? I have nothing to aim for at the moment - no events coming up to work for. Shall we see who can lose the most weight by the end of January on this thread? Am trusting everyone's honesty seeing as we can't see each other !!

Thursday 31st January* 2008 ok for everyone? I get weight that evening so can post after I get back.

OP posts:
kid · 03/01/2008 22:29

Yeah, why not, you can count me in. I weigh in on Mondays but can do a last weigh in on the Thursday that week

fireflyfairy2 · 03/01/2008 23:33

Good Sparkler.. that's what I need!!

I started off brill this morning.. I had melon & muller light for brekkie then an egg & tomato omelette for lunch..

dinner was sw chips with a dab of tomato ketchup... then I went & ruined it all by having 2 rounds of plain loaf with it.. followed by some haribo & a crunchie bar

Am revising so had a half packet of biccies with a gallon of tea this evening

I must, I must, I must reduce my bust...

My zip won't shut
my bra's too wee
my willpower has packed and left
my waist has left for a life of its own
and I now have a third breast

Misdee · 04/01/2008 00:51

yeah go on then!

i'm up for a challenge.

Diege · 04/01/2008 06:45

Coun me in too . I presume we just have to go by amount of weight lost, and not before/after weight? . Thanks for the chickpea recipe KID! Did you say it was half a syn per cake, or slice? LURCHER, it's strange isn't it what a few weeks of overindulgence can do to the tastebuds! I've heard that each healthy extra is worth 6 syns,so was thinking of doing a bit of substitution (2 slices of bread for a curly wurly, etc) but can see it spiralling... And I can't bring myself to touch the mullerlight in the fridge! I do like the rice ones, but will have to check their syn value.
Here's to a good day for everyone with the target to work towards!

kid · 04/01/2008 07:28

Yes, the chickpea cake is 1/2 syn for the whole thing. Thats the best part about it I reckon!

Beadmum · 04/01/2008 07:50

Hi, can i join you all.
Been lurking for ages on this thread, great motivation and tip/recipe ideas

i dont go to classes so weigh myself at home every saturday, been doing sw since feb 07 and had lost 1st 7lbs but put 2 pounds on over xmas (weigh in tomorrow so prob more). Want to get back on track, so hard ignoring those chocs in cupboard

I love sw as you dont deprive yourself and even though my weightloss has been slow, i feel having treats every now and then have helped me stay with it easier. In the past if i deny myself it only results in a binge later. Would much rather slow weight loss than losing then putting it all back on

ok, im rambling so will go for now

cherryredretrochick · 04/01/2008 09:46

I am so up for that, my group is a bit crap at the mo and slimmer of the week usually get 0.5lb it is not very motivating so I have decided to save the money, stop going to class and use you lovely people for support. Hope that is OK. I am always a sucker for a competition. Only down side is I can't go to the gym so will have to do it totally on food, I have always used a balance which means you don't need to be quite as strict with the food. Why does white bread taste better than anything else in the world? I have not had a good start to the day but shall try harder from here on in.
I just bought a lovely size 12 dress (this time last year I was an 18) but I did think wouldn't a 10 be even more satisfying.

Sparkler · 04/01/2008 10:48

Yes start weight loss from this week. FFF2 - I can't help pmsl at your egg and tomato omelette - what other kind is there then? Sorry I must be in one of those moods today.
Funny omelettes should be mentioned actually. Our consultant at group told us that she has started having them for breakfast as a change from cereal. They are a superspeed, free food and so leaves her with an extra healthy B to use during the day. I've taken her advice and had a plain omelette (with egg! ) for my breakfast this morning. Used four eggs so it was huge and yummy. Just off to wash it down with a good old cuppa now with a dash of milk from my healthy a and I should be sorted until later this afternoon. Lots of fruit in the fruit basket after shopping last night so I shall head for that if peckish.

OP posts:
fireflyfairy2 · 04/01/2008 10:50

Welll, I could have added ham, mushrooms, onions, spinach....... etc

Should I just have said tomato omelette?
