Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

sugarlumps lol - yes, AF is your period - am hoping i will suddenly lose about 1/2 stone over the next week then

that green breakfast is a good idea I might give that a go as i tend to do lots of red days. I get a bit confused on green for some unknown reason!!

MiaWallace (love thename - mia is my dd's name )
Yes SW really does work !! I did it about 7 years ago before dd came along and lost 2stone 10lb in 4 months - the first 2stone was done in about 2 1/2 months so beleive me it works!!!

MiaWallace · 15/02/2008 20:42

So many people have told me good things about SW but I'm convinced I'm eating too much to lose anything. Does anyone else make a pig of themselves with free foods yet still lose?

I've only been doing it a day and feel heavier already. I need some convincing

SWlurker · 15/02/2008 22:22

Honestly Mia if you stick to the plan you can pig out on free food and lose weight.

babyjjbaby · 15/02/2008 23:27

yep u will deffo lose weight if u stick to the plan i find the more u eat of free foods the more u lose

MiaWallace · 16/02/2008 07:39

Ok I'm convinced but I'm going to hold you all responsible if I'm heavier by Thursday

sugarlumps · 16/02/2008 08:34

i think the key is not to get carried away - dont eat only beacuse you can. eat at normal times or when your hungry. fill up with free foods at dinner times but still allow yourself your 'treats' so you dont feel as though your on a diet. thats what i do and i have found that im eating less and less when i first started this diet a typical green dinner would have been savoury rice with a jacket potatoe, then it went to one or the other - then it went to half a packet of savoury rice with more veg and quorn added.
you have to listen to what your body is telling you.
mum was telling me one of the woman at her meetings couldnt work out why she wasnt losing weight 4 weeks in she was still the same weight, it turned out she was eating for the sake of it a snack would have been jacket and beans dinner would have been something like a whole bag of quorn pieces with veg and loads of potatoes, she said she had completely stopped portion sizing.
not sure if that makes sense, im still half asleep lol

misdee · 16/02/2008 08:38

sugarlumps, i have been through a stage of pigging for the sake of it. but have relaised now my portions are going smaller each week now.

have run out of bread now, so ned to wait for dh to get up so i can get a loaf of bread to have a turkey rasher and low fat sausage sandwich. its the weekend so will be going red from here to tuesday night.

sugarlumps · 16/02/2008 08:44

sausage sandwich mmmmmmmmmm lol i had a ham s/w on that weight watchers brown danish for brekki. that was heaven as i havent had a s/w for ages, thats my problem area i get hooked on bread so i thought i should cut it out completely.
its my mates birthday today - she wants to go out for something to eat at lunch time then go into notts 2nite drinking so im thinking that doing both would be a little bit too greedy lol i think the booze is going to win!

misdee · 16/02/2008 08:47

i am a bread addict. so may skip the sandwich completely. and just have the filling and a scrambled egg.

i say go for the booze lol.

Showmeheaven · 16/02/2008 16:18

I'm a bit of a bread addict myself! But I'm a bit confused. On the SW website it says you can have as many healthy extras as you want (but to limit cheese, milk & HiFi bars). I thought wholemeal bread was limited to 2 slices per day ?? Could you have toast for B/F and a sandwich for lunch ??

misdee · 16/02/2008 22:26

are you sure sugerlumps? i thought it was 2 of each.

anyway my mum made the lemon banana cheesecake from this months slimmign world magazine. except you cannt get sugar free lemon crystals for love nor money round here. so she used orange ones, and finely grated some dark chocolate over the top of it instead of banana. and it was gorgeous! approx 5.5syns per serving (says 5 in the mag but am adding .5 on for the chcoclate), serves 8. i have bought a slice home for tomorrow after dinner for when the rest of my family tuck into home made syrup sponge and custard.

misdee · 16/02/2008 22:26

not sugarlumos, sorry, showmeheaven.

I copied this from the SW website, but it can't be right. I'm sticking with 2 x wholemeal slices of bread per day.

Make sure you enjoy your Healthy Extras every day. For mealtimes and snacks reach for Free Foods first, with Healthy Extras as your second choice. There?s no limit to how many of these delish Healthy Extras you can tuck into each day:

Wholemeal bread or wholemeal rolls
Cereals* ? Shreddies, Weetabix,Oat Krunchies, Ready Brek
Milk ? skimmed or semi-skimmed
Dried or cooked fruit ? dried apricots and pears, fruit cocktail, pineapple rings
Crispbreads* ? crackerbread, Ryvita minis, Krisprolls

SWlurker · 17/02/2008 21:55

is it not because some of the new plans for kids etc allow them to have more, so they maybe have tried to be generic?

sugarlumps · 18/02/2008 08:46

thats really weird in my book it says 1 or 2 from section a and 2 from section b!
well i went out saturday night as planned, didnt drink too much or give in to late night food! so all in all a good weekend! seem to be sticking to the plan more at weekends now which is good!

i think its beacuse all of a sudden i look a lot slimmer and everyone has started comenting, which has given me the kick up the bum i needed to keep on track!

SWlurker · 18/02/2008 11:32

Sounds good sugarlumps!

1 week until I re-join a SW class! can't wait. Am eating to the plan at the mo before I join to try and minimise any damage between old and new classes, well mostly, I did decide 3 pints of cider and chips and a sausage were a good idea on saturday night!!

p.s. its amazing what I will live off to avoid going food shopping! I went out and bough a big pack of pasta and a carton of passata on friday, and apart from that am STILL existing on leftovers! Although I must admit I need to shop in my lunch break (now) as I really cannot face any more pasta or lentils...!!

peachespaige · 18/02/2008 12:42

I think Cherry probably still works

andyrobo237 · 18/02/2008 20:05

I have given myself two weeks off from the class - it is about 10 miles away and takes up half of my one day off a week - so emailed Consultant and told her I needed a break form class. I will stil follow the plan, and see how I do! It is kind of a test to see if I really need to go to the class, as i dont get very much from it, and get much more from you lot here!!

sugarlumps · 19/02/2008 08:53

i think i spoke to soon about me being focused! i have torn a ligament in my foot and been put on these really powerful pain killers, im not sure weather its the sitting around all day or the pain killers but i feel like pecking at things all day
i have been signed of work for 2 weeks so i can see me putting some weight back on if im not careful
i think the only way orward is to get rid of all tempting foods from the cupboards and do it that way!
rarghhhh! so angry at myself! drinking is so bad! see what silly things i do!

SWlurker · 19/02/2008 09:07

Oh BUM!! Thought I was being clever and frugal by buying Tesco dried Soya mince instead of quorn because its cheap and nice and good for you...

... just checked on the website and its 2/1 syns per 28g! How stupid, when its lower fat and calories than quorn mince!!!! must nto be as filling or something.

So now I'm left with a bag of dried soya that I'm not prepared to waste my syns on!!
