Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

poppy - the rice pud in slow cooker sounds great - have you a recipe?? I love rice pud and it would be great on a cold day or for brekkie on a green day!

poppy90 · 12/02/2008 20:03

100g pudding rice - i just checked online & it says free on green
Approx 8 tbls splenda
500mls milk + 500mls water (you can play around with quantity of milk & water)
knob butter (marg-whatever)-syn value depending on type! [can omit this but I found it gives it the edge ]
pinch nutmeg (optional-I didn't)

Spray inside of crockpot with frylight, add all ingredients & stir. Put lid on & cook for approx 3-4hrs on medium.
VERY YUMMY

poppy90 · 12/02/2008 20:05

actually just realised it said Whole Grain pudding rice mine wasn't

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie

I've been reading thru this thread (got to page 14 so far!). I've a couple of questions if anyone has the time to answer:

  • Are noodles free on a Green Day ?? (Sharwoods fine/medium noodles that you cook yourself). Or did I read correct that they have a syn value ?
  • How many slices of wholemeal/wholegrain bread can you have in a day (as a HE), two ?
  • Is low-fat butter allowed in SW ?
  • Does anyone know how many syns are in the mini-sized mars bars & malteesers ?
  • Are you allow to "save up" your syns for the weekend like WW ? i.e. instead of a mini bar every night could you have 2 x regular bars of Dairy Milk at the weekend ?

Thanks !

sugarlumps · 12/02/2008 21:06

hi showmeheaven (love the name) egg noodles are free on green... well they used to be!
wholemeal bread 2 slices of 400g loaf 1 slice of 800g loaf, i save up some of my syns for the weekend... normally 5 a day so at the weekend i can have a couple of drinks or whatever and not feel guilty... although the reality is, it never normally stops there haha
the password for the slimming world website this week is pancake although it changes weekly. you can get your syn values online there,
i will post the new pasword tommorow when got off my mum! good luck

Showmeheaven · 12/02/2008 21:53

Thanks Sugarlumps (like your name too!).

Delighted to hear noodles are free on green. I'm still very sketipal about SW, but I've done every other diet going so I throught I'd give it a go. And I'm a carb queen at heart (who isn't?), so the green days suit me down to the ground when I'm at home. When I'm working, the red days will suit me better.

I tried the SW website today - saw the group section, put in my post code, but I couldn't figure out where you put in the password .....? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I found the site hard to navigate.

Showmeheaven · 12/02/2008 22:07

I had 2 x slices WM toast plus scrambled egg for brekie. Noodles & veg for lunch, then rice, veg & a little chicken (HE) for dinner. I had an apple & a chunk of cheddar cheese for a snack.

After dinner I felt bloated & I thought there is no-way I can eat like this and still lose weight, but I feel as light as a feather tonight! So eating this way must mean your food is digested super fast.

Thanks Christie. I'll try again.
Your meal sounded lovely .... yum, yum.

sugarlumps · 13/02/2008 08:07

showmeheaven - i've tried every diet under the sun, this one in the past, last time i lost over 3 stone, weight watchers ready meals (cost me a small fortune), cabbage soup (ew) just eating salad lol you name it i've tried it. i admit last tim ei did this one i wasnt really doing it propperly (i was silly and eating very very little) te weight fell off. so as soon as i started eating again it went back on!
this time i'm doing it propperly started in jan and so far i've lost nearly a stone.
have you got all your books and things? u can buy starter packs on e-bay (very expensive) if your not wanting to go to the meetings, it may be worth signing up to one to get all your bokos then not going? thats what i did as theres no way i can afford a fiver a week!
good luck!

cleaninglady · 13/02/2008 11:30

Well i went for my 3rd week weigh in and had stayed the same thats with major calorie reduction and introducing exercise so not sure what ive done wrong and am feeling very negative about it all at the moment!!

I am sort of following slimming world but also trying to keep around 1000 calories a day so it should be falling off but maybe im confusing my body and need to decide to follow the slimming world diet more carefully and forget about the calories
Ive been told to keep it up and it will show, as a week of 1000 cals and exercise every night has got to show benefits!!!

Im getting lots of meal ideas from you all though so will keep lurking

Morgan · 13/02/2008 11:32

Hi all - not had time to post for a few days - lost 2lbs in the first four days then nothing in the next five - but had meals out etc so disappointing but not surprising. Know how you feel misdee - i want quick results but will have to settle for slow i think.

Can anyone tell me if ainsley harrison citrus cous cous is free on green? Also re the others too if poss - cheers.

SWlurker · 13/02/2008 11:52

Have you ever accidentally created a great meal from leftovers and what was left before you did your next shop? I'm v skint so decided to as much as possible use up everything in the cupboards before next shop. It was blooming lovely! anyone else want to share any leftovers culinary masterpieces on here too??

Last night was, lentils, brown rice, boiled in vecon (free vegetable stock) with some dried herbs & balsamic vinegar, boiled & reduced down into a sort of reduction and served with a packet of steam veg done in the microwave sirred in. I was expecting it to be bland and yeuck but actually scrummy, a bit like risotto. Got the leftovers for lunch today

Have got some of that 59p morrisons mix soaking today ready for tonight's creation. bit concerned, I only have a tin of tomatoes, loads of herbs, and lasagne sheets left to go with it, have to hope inspiration strikes but I doubt it

poppy90 · 13/02/2008 14:10

Christie sounds like your Indian was a success...DH taking me to our local curry house tomorrow for a valentine meal (thinks he can get round me like that does he ) so I think I'll be sticking to much the same as you
I often do cobbled together meals but can never remember how I made them or what I put in them

nikkid21 · 13/02/2008 16:39

I'm on a leftovers meal as well tonight.
Mash potato mixed with onions fried in frylight, laughing cow triangles & fresh chopped tomato. Top with a HEa of cheese and brown off.
Am going to Rome for half term next week so have also been on a misson to use up all of the veg in the house. Have roasted off beetroot, parsnip and squash this afternnon for nibbles tomorrow.

Showmeheaven · 13/02/2008 17:04

sugarlumps, there isn't a class near me so I'm trying to do it on my own too. I got the SW mag and have ordered the SW cook book from the library. Don't really want to join the online group either.

This is my first try at SW after getting the Rececca Wheatley DVD (she is a great inspiration having lost 12 stone in 2 years !!!!).

Her excercise sessions are very easy - it would suit anyone who has a lot of weight to lose (me) or anyone who is very unfit (also me!).

Fingers crossed it will work this time. So far I'm loving the diet and the exercise (most) days is making me feel great.

I also hope couscous is free on Green. I had it for lunch today (Tesco Mediterian style) - very tasty & handy, ready in 5 mins.

babyjjbaby · 13/02/2008 17:38

i have been naughty today i stuck to it to the letter for the last 3 days and then today was fine till i went over to my sisters and she was doing homemade pizza so ended up having a mini pizza base with some passata sort of stuff chopped tomatoes mozzerella cheese and chicken it isn't really unhealthy but just not on slimming world so am going to go to aqua aerobics tonight and hoping it won't matter what do u think tell me the truth please i was doing really well too

sugarlumps · 13/02/2008 18:20
