10lbs in 10 weeks- anyone else?

Evening all
I'd like to lose 10lbs in 10 weeks. I'm hoping this is doable! I wanted to lose about a stone anyway but would be happy with anything above 7lbs.

I've been struggling a bit with motivation so hoping the event in 10 weeks will motivate me.
Stats: 5'6", 11st.
No 'plan' as such, I can't exercise much due to an injury but hoping to start a weekly swim.
Wine consumption has crept up and portion size is way out I'm sure, so that's where I'll start.
Anyone want to join me?

Hi there, I’m on a few other threads as well, a lot of people looking for a good start to the new year. I’ve got a holiday booked for Easter, which is about 12 weeks away I think. Started a week ago at 10st 7 and currently 10st 4 so a good start. Still hoping for another stone off, so roughly the same goal as you, ideally a pound a week. Let’s do this!

Kirstyr455 · 14/01/2022 11:47

I've just joined the low carb bootcamp starting 17th January. It's 8 weeks and would love to lose 10 lbs. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4444276-The-next-Low-Carb-Bootcamp-starts-on-17-January

Redcrayons · 14/01/2022 11:48

Me! I’m heaviest I’ve been for a long time and I can’t keep blaming lockdown.

10lbs would take me back under 11st (I’m 5’10), though I’d prefer a little more.

I’m back on MyFitnessPal, doing yoga every day and lots of running. Looking to start a weights class in a few weeks.

Good luck.

MercuryRising · 14/01/2022 12:23

Yes please I will join you. I will weigh in the morning. I tested positive on a lateral flow last night so I'm now off work. However, I have no symptoms so have decided I will take advantage of my time at home by cooking and resetting my home and diet both of which are out of control. I ultimately would like to lose 2 stones but 10 pounds would be a good start. I'm thinking of following slimming world principles... home cooked food, half a plate of veg etc... Will dig my books back out.

Serenschintte · 14/01/2022 12:28

Try The Human being diet by Petronalla Ravenshear. You will easily lose 10lbs

Heartbeats0708 · 14/01/2022 12:29

Oh great, hello to you all!
Solid start there @SingaporeSlinky I am praying for a good chunk off in the first week but telling myself 1lb a week is all I need 🙏
Best of luck @Kirstyr455 I've attempted low carb before but couldn't get my head into it, so much success on the boot camps though.
@Redcrayons daily yoga, inspiring! I'd love to get back into it. What's your cal limit?
Hoping you stay symptom free @MercuryRising, I was most successful on SW a couple of years ago so channeling those principles too. Are you going to do some batch cooking? I'm hoping to double up on shepherd's pie later and stocking the freezer.

Had a good day today, although logging everything on My Fitness Pal and it’s saying I’m under 1000 cals for today. I don’t know whether I’ve maybe underestimated some food or whether I genuinely have had too few.. It’s set my daily allowance at 1200 cals.
Today I had a coffee with honey, then a green tea, so I guess no food at all in the morning. Lunch was a whole mango sliced up into a leafy salad with some dressing, then some fruit yoghurt. Some hot water and lemon in the afternoon, and dinner was spag bol.
Quite pleased with myself that I haven’t been snacking. I’m normally scoffing biscuits, crisps or chocolate. But I’m determined to lose this weight for holiday!

Heartbeats0708 · 15/01/2022 13:31

I had a bad day yesterday Blush not the good start I was hoping for and I'm so bloated today. Did switch out my usual wine for vodka & slimline tonic though, so that's a small win Grin
Today has been better, lots of water (good idea @SingaporeSlinky putting lemon in hot water, I'd forgotten I like it) and also bought some peppermint tea.
Spicy chicken salad for dinner, no chocolate so far and have a night of self care planned to keep me distracted.

Another pound down today, although I know I shouldn’t really be weighing every day.
I felt hungry this morning sooner than usual, so had planned to eat a banana but then forgot and had a second coffee (with milk and honey). Needed a really quick lunch in between errands so just had 2 slices of toast with butter. Dinner was sausage and chips. So not a great day, no fruit or veg at all, but was busy and needed quick meals, and still within my 1200 calories. I’ll make up for it tomorrow with a salad and extra fruit.

MercuryRising · 16/01/2022 09:52

So the last two days haven't been great I have felt extremely tired and ended up snacking. But I've woken up feeling more like myself today. I've just had a slimming world grill up - mushrooms, baby plum tomatoes, beans, egg and quorn sausages. My plan for the rest of the day is homemade soup for lunch then fishcake potato and mixed veg for dinner...feeling motivated!

MercuryRising · 16/01/2022 09:52

How many pounds is that in total *Singaporeslinky?

Heartbeats0708 · 16/01/2022 10:21

@SingaporeSlinky sometimes I struggle to get my 5 a day in, I'm not so keen on fruit and vegetables inevitably mean preparation which I don't always feel up to (chronic health condition). I find those frozen steam pouches of veg a lifesaver, so many variations too.
@MercuryRising what soup are you making? I like soup but always end up with tinned.
I stated on track well yesterday and today's should be fine. I'll weigh in tomorrow and see if Friday has thrown me off.

I've just lost 4.5lbs in week one of low carbing and lose a stone a month when committed to it.

Look into it.

Dumfee · 16/01/2022 10:33

Great challenge! I'm in! I'm very similar to you OP - 5"6 - I was 11st just after Christmas, now 10st 10lbs. Would love to get to 10st but I've totally fallen off the wagon this weekend 😣

Heartbeats0708 · 16/01/2022 11:38

I can't do low carb @GlitterSquid I've probably not done it exactly right when I've tried in the past but I didn't get on with the principle.
Well done @Dumfee sounds like we are very similar! How are you trying to do it?
I'm basically cutting way back on booze and treats, increasing vegetables and reducing the carb element.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, my main obstacle is being time poor juggling work and DC. Hoping to get the slow cooker pulling some weight for me!

Eminently doable without too much pain. Cut down on the carbs, sensible portion sizes, drink lots of water and go for walks.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/01/2022 11:54

@MercuryRising

How many pounds is that in total *Singaporeslinky?
It came in at 973 for the day. The morning coffee with skimmed milk and honey was 48 cals, lunch was 291 (2 slices of toast with lurpack and another coffee) and dinner was 634 for sausage roll, chips and ketchup. Not completely accurate and I didn’t bother weighing or counting chips etc but I allowed a decent portion size in my calculation.
MercuryRising · 16/01/2022 12:47

It's a veg soup pack from Aldi. It's got carrots, swede, onions, potatoes and parsley in. All prepared and only needs boiling with a stock cube for 15 minutes. A bit of a cheat but quick and simple 😁

Dumfee · 16/01/2022 19:28

@Heartbeats0708 I'm trying all of those things too but have been awful this weekend - wine, sweets, chocolate etc - I used to be able to splurge and then lose lbs fairly easily, now I work hard to lose a couple pounds and then easily put it all back on plus some more

I'm going to start afresh tomorrow with some calorie counting and 16:8. Im going out on Friday night to a very nice restaurant and I don't want to hold back then so the better I can be Mon-Fri, the less guilty il feel

Heartbeats0708 · 16/01/2022 20:04

Exactly the same here @Dumfee I wonder if it's an age thing?! I'm mid 30s but compared to 10 years ago I really have to mean it if I want to lose weight! And it slides back on so easily.
I've been reflecting on my diet today and i can see where there's room for improvement- alcohol and portion size has to be my downfall. What I eat is fine- lots of vegetables, lean meat, eggs, whole grains- but the quantity must just be too much for me and my activity levels. I do eat out/take out but only occasionally. I hate having to weigh things out but maybe I need a reality check!

This is a good idea, it sounds quite hearty too! I've seen the casserole packs but never a soup pack, shall add it to my shopping list thanks!

🤚 yep me too... I turn 40 this year so that's extra incentive to sort out my health!

I'm weighing in this morning at 10st 11lbs.

Although il hold off on breakfast, I am having a cuppa with milk which I know strictly speaking breaks the fast but I cannot function without tea first thing!

Heartbeats0708 · 17/01/2022 07:38

I've just weighed at 11st 0.5lb. I'm a bit disappointed if I'm honest as although I slipped up a little on Friday I've eaten way better than usual, no snacks, chocolate or crisps and my meals have been good.
This week I'm going to try a bit harder with water and take a closer look at portion size.
I do have IBS but it feels fairly well managed just now.
I don't do breakfast either but absolutely tea, then coffee, then...
Lunch is vegetable and lentil soup and boiled eggs, dinner will probably Bolognese with a small portion of wholewheat pasta.
I think I'm struggling a bit to see where I could be going so wrong!

OP posts:
Dumfee · 17/01/2022 07:51

Il do the same with water and portion size. I'm using My Fitness Pal which I find ok... much prefer Nutracheck but I always end up paying for a year and then not using it Blush so trying with MFP first.

Well done for planning your meals. I haven't done that yet...
