10lbs in 10 weeks- anyone else?

Heartbeats0708 · 13/01/2022 20:48

Evening all
I'd like to lose 10lbs in 10 weeks. I'm hoping this is doable! I wanted to lose about a stone anyway but would be happy with anything above 7lbs.

I've been struggling a bit with motivation so hoping the event in 10 weeks will motivate me.
Stats: 5'6", 11st.
No 'plan' as such, I can't exercise much due to an injury but hoping to start a weekly swim.
Wine consumption has crept up and portion size is way out I'm sure, so that's where I'll start.
Anyone want to join me?

Morning again, back down to 9st 9 3/4 😀
I don’t usually look at the fractions but I was so happy to see the 9 I’m gonna claim it! Considering I was up to 9st 13 on Monday morning, I’m glad to see it back down again so quickly. I think drinking more water really helped, it must have been water retention from my weekend Chinese takeaway. I did eat more than usual for about 3 days but not a crazy amount.

I was really hungry yesterday so my plan didn’t quite work, but I just added lunch, which was 2 cheese and bacon muffins, so at least it was nutritious. I was then really tempted to have some chocolate in the evening but managed to resist. I’m wondering if it’s the gym work making me hungrier than usual. I still came in around 1200 cals.

Gym class this morning, then an extra hour on the equipment. Feeling good! How’s everyone’s week going?

BaconAndAvocado · 02/03/2022 14:49

Well done SingaporeSlinky
I'm not weighing in until Friday, hoping to have lost another pound this week.

I'm holding off of making pancakes until the weekend when I relax quite a bit on the food front.
The DCs haven't even mentioned it so I don't feel too bad!

Just had my go to lunch of the moment: smoked mackerel, 3 crackers, 3 cherry tomatoes and a pear. A bit strange I know but I enjoy it and it fills me up!

Going for a day out in London involving cocktails and a cream tea.....obviously after the weigh-in 😂

SingaporeSlinky · 02/03/2022 17:22

That is a strange lunch, but looks very healthy, and if you enjoy it, then even better!
I said we’d do pancakes at the weekend too, kids were disappointed but at least if we do them as a lunch, I can just limit what I have and still eat healthily the rest of the day. Normally we’d not have a proper dinner and just fill up on them instead.

Good luck for a pound off by Friday!

BaconAndAvocado · 02/03/2022 20:53

Haha, normally we'd have dinner and then lots of pancakes !!

SingaporeSlinky · 03/03/2022 12:28

9st 9 1/4 today.

Yesterday’s menu was scrambled eggs for lunch, then courgette lasagne with a side of sweetcorn. Very low calorie day, I almost had a kitkat but resisted. Now I know they’re in the cupboard it’s only a matter of time though 🤣

2 hours at the gym this morning. Today will be yoghurt, berries and granola for lunch, then a chicken salad for dinner.

BaconAndAvocado · 04/03/2022 10:41

SingaporeSlinky we are very close in our weight loss journey!
I weighed in at 9st 8 3/4 this morning!!

I had 2 crumpets and 2 shortbread biscuits for breakfast. I always relax on Fridays and the weekend!
Going to Borough Market and an afternoon tea today so "relaxing" would be a very moderate way of putting it 😂

SingaporeSlinky · 04/03/2022 12:06

Well done @BaconAndAvocado! You wanted to get to 9st 7 is that right? So you’ll easily get here! Enjoy your weekend though, I love afternoon tea!

How is everyone else getting on?

I weighed in at 9st 8 this morning, did a spin class and then met with a PT afterwards for a consultation. Really it was just a hard sell for paid sessions, so he gave me tiny amounts of advice, but clearly saving all his real wisdom for the paying customers. Very expensive so won’t be doing that. But one thing that did stick in my mind is that although I’ve lost a good amount of weight (total 13lbs now), I feel like a slightly smaller version of myself, rather than a toned version. So he would push the weights to get toned, because he said if I lose even more weight, there will be nothing to ‘reveal’ underneath, I don’t exactly have abs of steel waiting to protrude out once the belly fat is gone. He also said in the final week before my holiday he would push me even harder, and more aggressively lower calorie. I’m only on about 900 cals this week, so not sure it’s realistic to cut it even more. Maybe if I lived alone, but I have to cook for the whole family, I’m generally not cooking separate meals for myself.

SingaporeSlinky · 07/03/2022 13:35

New week, time seems to be flying!

9st 8 for me today. Weekend was good, went for a brisk walk to the shops on Saturday just to make sure I wasn’t sitting around all weekend. Stuck to plan, I did make a mac and cheese for dinner last night but made sure I had a sensible portion, with broccoli and chicken. Logged it all by individual ingredients, which was a pain, but made me realise how calorific it is! Came in about 1260 cals for the day, so still ok.

Did a legs, bums, tums class this morning, then 30 mins on the treadmill.

Today’s menu
Coffee
Greek yoghurt, raspberries, flax, chia and granola
Butternut squash fettuccine

BaconAndAvocado · 08/03/2022 09:46

I had a veeeery calorific 3 day weekend including a cocktail, afternoon tea and fish and chips so not sure if I’ll see any weight loss this week!

SingaporeSlinky · 08/03/2022 10:53

Hope you enjoyed every minute @BaconAndAvocado!

9st 7 today so I’ve officially lost a stone 🥳

BaconAndAvocado · 08/03/2022 14:14

That’s brilliant SingaporeSlinky well done you!
What will you do now? Will you keep on going or try to maintain the same weight ( this is the bit I usually find hard).

SingaporeSlinky · 08/03/2022 14:22

Thank you!
I’m going to keep going, still over 4 weeks until my holiday, so I’ll see how much more I can lose until then, then it’ll be a case of maintaining once I get back I guess. I think if I keep my food the same, and just do less at the gym, I’m hoping that’ll keep me steady. I’ll keep calorie counting, because that really keeps me on track and I don’t want little extras to start creeping back in.

BaconAndAvocado · 08/03/2022 14:33

My holiday isn’t until late August and I’m not sure I can carry on losing a pound a weekish as that would mean I’d be just under 8 stone, not a good look on a 52 year old me I think!

I do have a holiday planned at Easter in the UK but it obviously doesn’t involve a swimsuit!!

BaconAndAvocado · 11/03/2022 08:58

I'm back up to 9st 10lb after my very over indulgent weekend and not great week, so no surprise really.

I also went out for dinner last....

Back to the old regime on Monday 👊🏻

SingaporeSlinky · 11/03/2022 10:26

I’m sure you can get that back off next week Bacon

I’m down to 9st 6 but had very little energy this last few days (TOTM) and actually been yawning during morning fitness classes. Had a twix and then a fried egg sandwich after the gym yesterday, really needed it. Spag bol for dinner so I only went about 200 cals over my 1200.

Today I did a spin class and back to my yoghurt and granola. Will take it easy this weekend and hopefully back to usual energy levels next week.

BaconAndAvocado · 11/03/2022 15:23

Well done SingaporeSlinky that's great!

I've really lost the plot now and am eating far too much rubbish.
Monday will be different 🤨

SingaporeSlinky · 14/03/2022 13:29

Have we lost @Heartbeats0708 for good?

Hope you’re back on track today @BaconAndAvocado

Following my chocolate cravings on Friday I had loads more, and crisps too 🤦‍♀️

Back on track today, did a gym class this morning, plus cross trainer, weights and treadmill. Yoghurt, granola and seeds for lunch, dinner will be tuna steak and spinach.

4 weeks until my holiday and I’d really like to lose a few more pounds! Ordered a bikini online last week, which arrived this morning and looks lovely. Could do with flattening my stomach, but it’s just not happening. I’ll keep trying.

BaconAndAvocado · 14/03/2022 13:37

Yes definitely back on track now!

Had yoghurt, fruit seeds and granola for breakfast.

Lunch was 3 cream crackers, mackerel, some cherry tomatoes and a pear.

Our local beach isn't allowing dogs at the moment due to tar (or summat) washed up.
So my walk wasn't as long today.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/03/2022 12:06

@BaconAndAvocado it seems to just be me and you left here, and I’m on a few other threads too. Do you want to join the “Lose It - March” thread? It’s much more active and chatty there, saves us keeping this thread going.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/03/2022 12:11

Just to say, I’m down to 9st 5 today, so even though the Op disappeared, thank you to everyone that contributed along the way. I think my initial goal was to try and lose a stone and I’ve actually lost 1st 2lbs, and still have 3.5 weeks until my holiday. It’s been a hard slog, and I understand why lots of posters have dwindled away, but I hope they try again (or keep going).

BaconAndAvocado · 16/03/2022 15:54

Wow, 9st 5lb is fantastic SingaporeSlinky well done 👏🏻
Yes, I might see you again on another thread.
I'm trying to stick to no snacks this week, we'll see what the scales say on Friday 🤞🏻

Heartbeats0708 · 31/03/2022 15:50

Hello! And sorry I ducked out. I really didn't have anything to report- my food was decent, I wasn't drinking much and was physically active but had no losses at all in the full 10 weeks, I was exactly the same as when I started!
I was finding it a bit demoralising, despite the excellent support @SingaporeSlinky and others.
I read the book "Why we eat too much" and it made SO much sense, I've sort of adopted that way of eating (and I'm also hanging out on that thread). Well done to everyone and sorry again for abandoning ship!

Ah there you are @Heartbeats0708!
Glad you’ve found something that works for you now. Bacon joined me on the Lose It thread as this one got too quiet.

I won’t keep this one going, but I might start my own thread once I get back from holiday. Might need support maintaining the loss!
Down to 9st 3 and determined not to put it back on again!

Good luck.
