10lbs in 10 weeks- anyone else?

Heartbeats0708 · 13/01/2022 20:48

Evening all
I'd like to lose 10lbs in 10 weeks. I'm hoping this is doable! I wanted to lose about a stone anyway but would be happy with anything above 7lbs.

I've been struggling a bit with motivation so hoping the event in 10 weeks will motivate me.
Stats: 5'6", 11st.
No 'plan' as such, I can't exercise much due to an injury but hoping to start a weekly swim.
Wine consumption has crept up and portion size is way out I'm sure, so that's where I'll start.
Anyone want to join me?

1lb off since last week and 4 since my New Year weigh in. Although the NY weigh in was massive bloat from all the terrible delicious food and alcohol I’d had over the previous week.

I had a cheat day on Saturday but didn’t go too mad.

I definitely need to drink more water, and cut back on the tea.

Heartbeats0708 · 18/01/2022 07:40

That's a great loss @Redcrayons well done!
I think a bit of a blowout is necessary at times. When I did SW successfully, I had a boozy takeaway type night every so often and it helped my motivation that it didn't ruin everything.
I never thought about limiting hot drinks but I might have to, or switch some to herbal/lemon.

Morning all, still at 10st 3 (4lb loss) but I’ve stuck to my plan and no cheating, even at the weekend. I probably need to start moving more, I’ve been sitting down most days watching tv in between school runs because I’ve been so cold! But that’s not really a good excuse, because an exercise dvd would certainly warm me up!

Heartbeats0708 · 19/01/2022 13:43

Well done on sticking with it @SingaporeSlinky I have too, hoping the scales are kinder to me if I can stay with it over the weekend.
Had carrot and coriander soup for lunch, forgot how tasty it is.
Feel full of cold today and it warmed me through!

Me. I've put on so much weight in a year.

SingaporeSlinky · 19/01/2022 13:54

Thanks Heartbeats0708
Another pound off, I’m at 10st 2 today, so 5lbs total. Very pleased my efforts are paying off!

Heartbeats0708 · 19/01/2022 19:46

It's melting off you Singapore!
I've just finished dinner and the chocolate cravings are strong. Must resist.

Heartbeats I’m sure I’ll plateau soon and it’ll get harder. I also haven’t faced the dreaded premenstrual cravings since I started, so I’ll see how that goes when the time comes.

I’m still not sure I’m eating enough, which I never thought would be my issue 😬 but I’m coming in at around 1000 cals per day. I feel like I’m not massively under though.

Today I had 2 coffees with skimmed milk and honey, 1 green tea, 1 glass of water. Mid morning I had a whole pineapple (which sounds weird, but it was 280g once I cut it up). Lunch was leaf salad with a tbsp of dressing, some cherry tomatoes, cucumber, 4 olives and 5 walnuts. Dinner was roast chicken, peas and a small portion of oven chips.

I’ve been lazy again today though. My only exercise was the school run and then cracking the walnuts open 🤣

Lupinspotato · 19/01/2022 23:22

I‘m also in! I’m on another thread, but I have pretty much the exact same stats as you and losing 10lbs would be amazing, so could do with the extra motivation.

Planning on going for a run tomorrow and doing some yoga.

Heartbeats0708 · 20/01/2022 07:57

@SingaporeSlinky enjoy it! You're doing really well. It doesn't sound like a lot of food but I find that some days I feel like I need more than others (love walnuts from the shell too!).
I tend to have two meals a day but keep lunch light as otherwise I feel the slump. Yesterday-pretty standard day- was soup with a toasted brown pitta, then homemade chilli and half a pouch of brown & wild rice. I also have a daily actimel, usually mid morning. That's it! How am I not losing 😭
Welcome @Lupinspotato! Good luck with the run and yoga. What's your food plan? Exercise makes me ravenous..

Don’t be hard on yourself Heartbeats0708 it’s only been a week since you started the thread, so it’s early days, and I always think the start is the hardest. It took me about 4 days to really get into it. I’m definitely using my holiday as motivation because I looked back on some photos from past holidays and think I look really chubby, so I’d like to look slimmer this time. I know it’s not the be all and end all, and I’m not so self conscious that I don’t enjoy myself. I still wear bikinis, and go in the pool and have fun, so I don’t miss out on anything. But I’ll feel better about myself if I can lose some weight around my tummy, in particular.

Lupinspotato · 21/01/2022 15:17

I’ve mainly been calorie counting using nutracheck and make sure I have breakfast, lunch and dinner and keep snacks to a minimum. I haven’t got on well with low carb or fasting in the past so don’t restrict anything, just the amount.

Since the beginning of Jan I’ve lost 4lbs but this seems to be fluctuating up and down a couple of lbs or so, so I can’t quite tell where I am. My trousers are fitting a bit better though Grin

Dumfee · 23/01/2022 08:18

Morning all! I haven't weighed in yet... I'm avoiding it as I can just feel I haven't lost anything this week 😣

I don't know about any of you but I'm coming to the conclusion that it's hard to be a dieting mum in January. I start January with good intentions but as January is always a frugal month, I end up making meals out of things we already have in the freezer and cupboards rather than spending a load of money on nutritious ingredients. Same goes for taking lunch to work... I ended up defrosting a quiche that I'd made for Christmas and ate it over three days last week rather than the much better salad or soup. Today I've taken out yet more pastry from the freezer.

There's actually no reason I have to do this, it's my own self imposed rules about spending in January. My dh on the other hand has joined a new gym and is eating a high protein diet and is sticking to it as he has no reasons not to. I did make him eat two tins of corned beef that have been lurking in the cupboard since Brexit/Covid days though 😂

Anyway, January is nearly done and everything will need to be restocked in Feb. I'm still aiming for 10lbs overall, it just might have to be 2lbs next week 😅

SingaporeSlinky · 23/01/2022 08:38

Morning, weighing in at 10st 2 again for the 5th day running (total loss 5lbs). MercuryRising just read this thread again and realised you’d asked me how many pounds total loss and I must have read it wrong and gave you a calorie count for the day 😂
A little frustrated at the slow progress so I might do some cardio this week to see if I can speed things along.

Dumfee I think it’s fine to use up freezer food if you don’t want to spend a fortune on a big shop just yet, but maybe try and have smaller portions, and then a load of veg or salad on the side. I defrosted a batch of cottage pie for last night’s dinner that had been in the freezer a while, but instead of filling my plate, I had about half my usual amount and then cooked some broccoli and cauliflower as well.

Redcrayons · 24/01/2022 21:24

Stayed the same this week, which was a bit disappointing. Hopefully just a bit of PMT bloat.

SingaporeSlinky · 24/01/2022 21:33

@Redcrayons how was your week? Did you stick to your plan?

Redcrayons · 24/01/2022 21:42

Mostly. We had a takeaway on Friday, and I had the smallest pizza every created with salad, so not too bad. However, my mum brought round all her leftover Christmas chocolates for the DCs and I had some of them.

Exercising is still in target. I’m trying to get into the habit of drinking water rather than coffee and tea, but it’s not sticking. Might be because it’s so cold and m WFH so I need the hot drink.

MercuryRising · 25/01/2022 02:14

I'm back... I need accountability and fast. In the last week with covid and a weekend away my eating and drinking has been dire and instead of losing weight I have been gaining it 🥲

7 months ago I met a fantastic new man and I think as we have settled and are happy I have gained more weight. This has led me to gain a stone. This morning I tipped the scales at 13st 0.6 which is the heaviest I have ever been apart from when pregnant so I need to do something and fast.

My plan initially for the rest of this week is baby steps ... no snacks between meals except fruit. I need to take back control. I'm planning on starting my ten weeks from today.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 11:42

@Redcrayons have you tried hot water with lemon? I have that every other day, it warms me up but without the calories. I’ve reduced my coffee down to one a day, and have green tea once a day. I actually find I enjoy that one coffee more now, because I know it’s my only one and I put honey in, so I do savour it.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 11:46

@MercuryRising I find that being active on these threads is great motivation because you can pick up tips or recipe ideas from other people. The posters that disappear for a week or two generally come back and say they’ve gained weight again. Obviously life can get in the way, but if you make it a priority, the accountability helps. Good luck with your fresh start!

Heartbeats0708 · 25/01/2022 11:56

Need to catch up, hoping to do so this eve! Quick update is I have stuck to the eating plan and I'm still EXACTLY the same weight as I was when I started after Christmas 🤬 and I now have covid too. I need to have a good think about what I'm doing wrong or what I can change.

OP posts:
SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 12:23

So disappointing, I know how you feel @Heartbeats0708
Hope you’re feeling ok with the Covid.

Once you’ve caught up later, why don’t you list here what you’ve been eating etc and we’ll see if we can help.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 14:23

Also, Heartbeats, I’ve just looked back through the thread, maybe have a quick look at the tins and pouches you’re using, because sometimes they’re surprisingly high in sugar. Also, it might be worth logging everything on My Fitness Pal if you’re not already. It’s a pain to start with, but weighing everything out really opens your eyes to portion sizes.
And make sure you include all drinks, coffee, alcohol etc.

Sunsetsupernova · 25/01/2022 14:26

Starting a bit late but I am in! I stood on the scales for the first time in a year yesterday and the app that’s linked to them asked if it was me because I’d put on so much weight 😂
Currently 5”5 and last week I was 141.8lbs. This morning down to 140lbs so taking that as a win.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 14:49

Welcome @Sunsetsupernova you’re similar stats to me, I’m 5’4” and 141lbs.
What’s your plan, are you counting calories, exercising, bit of both?
