10lbs in 10 weeks- anyone else?

Heartbeats0708 · 13/01/2022 20:48

Evening all
I'd like to lose 10lbs in 10 weeks. I'm hoping this is doable! I wanted to lose about a stone anyway but would be happy with anything above 7lbs.

I've been struggling a bit with motivation so hoping the event in 10 weeks will motivate me.
Stats: 5'6", 11st.
No 'plan' as such, I can't exercise much due to an injury but hoping to start a weekly swim.
Wine consumption has crept up and portion size is way out I'm sure, so that's where I'll start.
Anyone want to join me?

Thank you @SingaporeSlinky I’m starting with calorie counting this week and then am hoping to build in an hours walk at lunchtime every day from next week. Baby steps! I was in a great routine of listening to audio books from the library during a lunchtime power walk last year so hoping to do that again.
I do find calorie counting tedious and I have to stick to 1,200 if I want to lose anything but using My Fitness Pal makes it a lot easier and I generally plan my day in the morning so I know what I’ve got leftover for snacks.
I just need to stay focused on it as I’m very much an all or nothing person so once I let myself have a treat, it all goes out the window.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 15:03

Sunset I’m exactly the same, I have cut out all unhealthy snacks completely. Once I get the taste I can’t stop myself. I’m nearly 3 weeks in now, and I actually don’t even crave those things anymore.
Good luck!

MercuryRising · 25/01/2022 20:08

You are absolutely right SingaporeSlinky accountability is the key. So today I have not snacked apart from a banana 😁
Hope you recover Hearts I had a couple of days where I felt hideous. Try to rest as much as possible and drink lots .

Heartbeats0708 · 25/01/2022 20:29

Thank you for the well wishes! Not feeling great but hopefully over the worst of it now.
Thanks also @SingaporeSlinky for your thoughts. I do use tinned soup but usually choose carefully, and things like micro rice/steam bags of vegetables for convenience. Mostly cook from scratch though. A typical day might be:
Actimel
Soup & boiled egg
Homemade chilli/curry/stir fry etc. Always at least 3-5 different vegetables and a protein like chicken or prawns.
The things possibly holding me back, having given it some thought today:
I drink about 5 cups of tea a day (no sugar, SS milk)
I often have a can of diet fizzy drink Blush
I'm on a few different types of medication, could be hindering things
I can't exercise as much as I'd like to
Although my meals are full of vegetables (I love vegetables and they're cheaper than meat) I do have big portions of them and tell myself it's fine because it's veg. It probably isn't!

@Heartbeats0708 I would like to join this thread please. I'm weighing in a wee bit more than you at 11 stone 3. I'm only 5'3 and could easily stand to lose two stone.

My downfall is alcohol and cheese. I find exercise each day keeps me accountable but I got Covid last week and it knocked me for six.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 20:43

I think that sounds absolutely fine! If you don’t take sugar in the tea, it can’t be many cals, even with semi skimmed milk, maybe 100? Looks like 75cals in the actimel.
What kind of sauce do you use for the evening meal, is it a jar or tinned tomatoes and herbs/spices? The veg is perfect, very low cal and obviously so healthy. Do you add potatoes? Maybe try and weigh out what your typical portion of rice or noodles etc would be. That’s the only thing I can think that might be taking you over.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 20:44

Sorry that reply was to Heartbeats

Welcome youboozeyoulose

Heartbeats0708 · 25/01/2022 20:49

Generally tinned tomatoes and herbs/spices @SingaporeSlinky so I can adjust to taste, occasionally I use curry paste though.
I can't eat bread in any form (tried wholemeal/sourdough etc and it didn't agree with me). I like to use the pouches of wholegrain rice as I know I have half per meal, similar with noodle nests, I like that they're portioned out already. Rarely eat potatoes or pasta but will get into weighing stuff out again in case!

Yeah I can’t see why you’re not losing any weight then. Have you had many days off-plan since you started?

Heartbeats0708 · 25/01/2022 21:31

Welcome to the new people too!
It's honestly so disheartening. I was eating a lot of bread before as well as chocolate/crisps/pastry stuff.
No not really, one fairly boozy eve which involved a takeaway but that was nothing compared to how I have been! Scales are just not budging yes I've tried changing the battery too Blush

Those of you who follow Slimming World, do you not need to count calories at all? I came across the Instagram account BoothysSWInsta and I can’t believe the portion sizes of her meals. She does a lot of Pinch of Nom recipes which I do as well but then she seems to add extra carbs to basically every meal. I guess maybe she just doesn’t each very much during the day but there’s no way I would lose weight eating dinners that size.

Heartbeats0708 · 26/01/2022 08:24

@Sunsetsupernova I did SW but it was a long time ago. The only things you had to count/measure was dairy(a specific portion of milk or cheese) and bread/cereal. Unlimited lean meat, vegetables (one third of each meal advised), pasta, rice, potatoes etc.

Morning all, weighed in at 10st 0 this morning, so down 2lbs this week and half a stone since starting around 7th January.
Had my first session at the gym yesterday, going again tomorrow.
Hope you’re all doing well! Anyone else weighing in today?

Sunsetsupernova · 26/01/2022 09:49

That’s interesting @Heartbeats0708 I already don’t eat dairy or much bread so I’m not sure it would make much of a difference to me.

Well done @SingaporeSlinky that’s great progress! I’ve weighed in this morning at 139.2lbs so 2.6lbs lost since I started a week ago. It’s definitely mostly water weight but I’ll take it as a win!

youboozeyoulose · 26/01/2022 13:30

@SingaporeSlinky That's great progress! Very inspiring. I weighed in at 11 stone 2 today, a bit less than I thought I was. Hoping I can get under 1 stone in the next couple of weeks.

youboozeyoulose · 26/01/2022 13:34

Under 1 stone!!! Under 11 even.

TakeSomeMoreTea · 26/01/2022 13:39

Hi

Can I join please? I'm going to weigh tomorrow morning but I know I have at leats a stone to lose preferably before the end of April so around 1 lb a week but if more that would be a bonus.

SingaporeSlinky · 26/01/2022 19:46

Welcome @TakeSomeMoreTea
What eating plan are you following?

ilovetea14 · 26/01/2022 21:06

Hi can I join please? This is my third week of exercising and first week of eating better.
For breakfast I have porridge with honey &fruit
Mixed salad with boiled eggs and some mayonnaise.
For dinner I had cod, mash potatoes &green beans. I'm trying to drink water but find it so hard.

I'm 5ft 4 and 10st 11lbs I'm down 2lbs weighted on Monday. I had been 11st 7lbs and for over a year I could not get past 11st and would go back up again. I had stopped weighing myself so I was shocked when I weighted myself end of November and was in the 10st area. I would love to lose a stone but would be happy with any loss.

TakeSomeMoreTea · 27/01/2022 08:58

@SingaporeSlinky

Welcome *@TakeSomeMoreTea* What eating plan are you following?
Thank you.

I'm doing the 16:8 so eat first at midday.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm 10st 7lb. I'm 5ft 3. So I'm 6lb overweight according to my BMI. I would love to lose a stone. I'm 50 this year Shock and want to feel good about myself and obviously healthier.

Heartbeats0708 · 27/01/2022 09:56

I weighed this morning and am down a little, less than a pound. I just know next time I weigh I'll be back up, again just a little. It's so annoying!
I'm cutting back some medication with a view to coming off completely but it will be a long process. It'll be interesting to see if it's been hindering my weight loss but I do feel ready to come off it too.
Heading to the shops today and would like to make some soup so I can have that for lunches over the weekend.
I'm also going to knock the cans of fizzy on the head. I only have one per day but I know they're not great for me.

Morning all, the scales had a 9 at the front today! BUT, it was 9st 13 3/4 and so far I’ve been ignoring the fractions, so I’m going to declare at 10st 0 again, just to be safe 😂 I know I shouldn’t be weighing every day anyway.

Did an aerobics class at the gym today which was a killer, and walking down the steps on the way out, I felt it! It’s going to hurt tomorrow, so I might just go for a walk tomorrow, then leave the gym until Monday.

But between walking to school, then walking to the gym, doing the class, then 15 mins gentle uphill walking on the treadmill, then walking home, my Fitbit says I’ve done 2.5 hrs of ‘fat burn’.

All I’ve had today is a load of water and one coffee, I’m really surprised I’m not ravenous! Will have a banana in a minute and then figure out lunch.

Heartbeats I think that’s idea to cut the fizzy drinks. They might be low calorie, but I’m sure they’re not healthy and full of chemicals.

TakeSomeMoreTea · 27/01/2022 12:20

Heartbeats Hope you are not too poorly with covid. Hopefully you will start to see a loss too.

SingaporeSlinky You are doing so well.

I'm just going to nip to my gym (not been since beginning of October Blush). I'm going to ask about a few PT sessions I think.

TakeSomeMoreTea · 27/01/2022 12:51

I've just ended up booking to see the Instructor tomorrow who is doing me program.

I'm having 2 weetabix with SS milk for lunch. As I'm doing 16:8 I've only had black decaff coffee this morning so going to have cup of tea with of milk in a minute.

Sunsetsupernova · 27/01/2022 15:40

I have to admit that when I’m dieting I use a can of Diet Coke as my treat instead of a snack in the afternoon Blush I know it’s not healthy but at least it’s not got any calories and stops me eating something that’s probably just as unhealthy. For the rest of the day I try to occupy myself with green or peppermint tea as much as possible.
