10lbs in 10 weeks- anyone else?

Heartbeats0708 · 13/01/2022 20:48

Evening all
I'd like to lose 10lbs in 10 weeks. I'm hoping this is doable! I wanted to lose about a stone anyway but would be happy with anything above 7lbs.

I've been struggling a bit with motivation so hoping the event in 10 weeks will motivate me.
Stats: 5'6", 11st.
No 'plan' as such, I can't exercise much due to an injury but hoping to start a weekly swim.
Wine consumption has crept up and portion size is way out I'm sure, so that's where I'll start.
Anyone want to join me?

Well done SingaporeSlinky that is fantastic!!

I had my first SW weigh in on Thursday and lost 2.5 pounds, which I was pretty impressed with.

SingaporeSlinky · 11/02/2022 21:18

Thanks all!

Well done @MercuryRising that’s a fab loss in a week!

BaconAndAvocado · 12/02/2022 16:13

Have just informed the DCs that I won’t be getting any treats in the weekly shop.
It was a bit of a tumbleweed moment........🤣

SingaporeSlinky · 12/02/2022 16:29

🤣 my DC have a drawer in the kitchen full of snack stuff, but most of it isn’t a temptation to me. Things like chocolate brunch bars for packed lunches, bear yoyos, fudge choc bars, milky way bars. I’d have to be desperate to want any of those, so it’s not a problem.

BaconAndAvocado · 14/02/2022 13:52

Not tempted by milky ways? I’m in awe 🤣

SingaporeSlinky · 14/02/2022 14:15

No, never liked them. A twix, curly-wurly or kit kat on the other hand…

BaconAndAvocado · 15/02/2022 13:43

Had Asda Valentine meal deal last night.....they didn't have any healthy options!!
Back on it today 👍🏻

SingaporeSlinky · 15/02/2022 14:42

We had a normal dinner but then I allowed myself one square of the Hotel Chocolat slab I’d bought for DH 😆 70 cals so not bad. I really had to resist having another piece, but actually I noticed about 20 minutes later that I’d forgotten about it, and the craving had gone. I think it was that old problem of getting the taste for it, but once it passed I was fine, and almost satisfied with the small piece I’d had.

Did 30 mins on the cross trainer this morning, followed by 20 mins uphill walk on the treadmill, so I burned off the chocolate calories, plus some.

Heartbeats0708 · 15/02/2022 17:11

This thread keeps dropping of my Threads I'm On for some reason!
Congratulations @SingaporeSlinky I'm so pleased for you! And well done to @MercuryRising too, I am tempted to head back to sw.
Absolutely nada, nothing, zilch for me to report. There hasn't seemed to be a good time to start logging, everything has been a bit hectic. But I'm sticking around!

Forgot to post. Maintained this week, but not surprising as I had a big meal on Sunday night.

I’m resisting the urge to weigh everyday.

Thanks to whoever suggested lemon on water instead of tea. It’s mr afternoon drink now, cold rather than hot and I’m loving it.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2022 19:11

Redcrayons that was me! Although I saw someone else on another thread mention it. I haven’t had it myself in a while now, but I’m having a big mug of green tea every day. Glad you’ve been enjoying it.

Did a body tone class at the gym today which I enjoyed. I tend to skip breakfast in the mornings and just have a coffee to break my fast once I get home from the gym. Lunch was 3 scrambled eggs with chives and a green tea. Dinner was a new recipe I found today of salmon topped with a paprika, garlic and mayo mixture, then panko breadcrumbs to coat. Served with quinoa mixed with tarragon, lemon juice and peas. The whole thing was delicious. Logged the whole day as 973 cals.

BaconAndAvocado · 17/02/2022 14:24

Due to being stuck in bed with covid, I've done really well and only eaten a bowl of shredded wheat, a slice of toast and a banana.

The way I'm feeling I'll be hitting my target very soon!

SingaporeSlinky · 17/02/2022 14:28

Weighing in at 9st 10 today, so 11lbs down in total.

My scales also measure body fat, so I logged it at the start at 28%, now down to 26% so I’m pretty pleased with that. In the last 10 days it’s gone from 26.6% to 26 so I think my efforts at the gym these last few weeks are massively helping. I’m doing higher intensities on the machines, partly because I feel a little stronger, but also because I’m trying to push myself more.

7.5 weeks until my holiday so I’m hoping I can at least get down to 9st 7

I can definitely notice my legs and face are thinner, and although I still have a flabby tummy I feel better in myself.

How’s everyone else’s week going?

SingaporeSlinky · 17/02/2022 14:30

Oh cross posted @BaconAndAvocado! Sorry you’ve been struck down!

SingaporeSlinky · 18/02/2022 11:15

Morning all, managed to get to the gym for a spin class this morning. Wind is picking up now though. Did a pump class yesterday, so that’s 5 times this week. Had only thought I’d manage 3 but I feel like I’m addicted to it now 🤣 I’m SO not an exercise person but seeing the difference in my weight is really motivating me to go as much as I can. I figured I’d only be sitting on the sofa watching This Morning, so it’s a better use of my time!

It’s our half term next week so I might manage 2 visits, if I can leave the kids with DH on his wfh days.

Dinner out with friends tonight so calories are likely to be astronomical but I’m not drinking as I’m driving. I won’t feel guilty though because it’s so rare I go out and we hardly ever have takeaways either. I’ve had my bowl of Greek yoghurt, strawberries and granola, I’ll try and just have a banana later to limit the damage from dinner.

No treats planned for the weekend, I’ll keep at it as I’d really like to drop down to 9st 9 next week.

Have a good weekend all and stay safe!

BaconAndAvocado · 18/02/2022 14:43

Wow SingaporeSlinky 11lbs is a great loss!
I'm starting to feel a bit better now but still trying to listen to my body and take it easy.

Had a proper yogurt, fruit, seeds breakfast and some toast for lunch.
DH and DS2 are getting takeaway pizza tonite as no one has the energy to cook!

SingaporeSlinky · 22/02/2022 09:44

Not much to report here but checking in.
I had a few slip ups with chocolate over the weekend, and I know it’s because I had a meal out on Friday (including churros with chocolate sauce). Once I have something once, it creeps back a few more times over the following few days. It’s like the more I eat, the more I need to eat. Once I’m in the zone of eating less, I don’t even get hungry and find it much easier.

Back on it today. Went to a Legs, Bums and Tums class yesterday, another class booked for tomorrow. Had a lovely mango, pomegranate and avocado quinoa salad, and salmon topped with pesto, parmesan and breadcrumbs for dinner last night. Very tasty and loads of flavours.

Today will be yoghurt, berries and granola for lunch. Chicken stir fry with rice noodles for dinner. Must try to break the chocolate habit again today.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/02/2022 16:43

SingaporeSlinky
You are so right about the less you eat, the less you eat.
Since being ill last week I’ve been eating a lot less and can’t stomach the idea of large portions.

I’ve lost 3lb but thats because I lost my appetite!
Going forward, I’m trying to stick to 3 healthy meals a day and 1 small snack. I’ve not tried this straightforward approach before so we’ll see how it pans out.
I’m now 9st 10lb and would ideally like to be somewhere between 9 and 9.5 stone.

SingaporeSlinky · 22/02/2022 17:11

Same weight as me @BaconAndAvocado and same goal weight really.

With 3 healthy meals you might not even need the snack! Most days I have 2 meals and don’t even get hungry now!

Routine definitely helps, I have my 3 go-to lunches and then just have to plan dinner each day. It’s when there’s a change like at the weekends if everyone else wants a baguette or something, I end up having extras and then regretting it. But it feels wasteful throwing it away if I don’t eat some too.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/02/2022 18:10

SingaporeSlinky
I find if I eat really healthily and don't snack loads most days that I can have a takeaway and it doesn't really register on the scales.

I'm pleased I've lost the 3lb but can't wait to get back to walking the dog, have really missed the exercise.

Just starting the dinner, it's a Gousto recipe. All in one Honey Baked Cheese and Crispy Gnocchi. I've never tried gnocchi so not sure what it'll be like.
I'll have half a portion which will fill me up.

SingaporeSlinky · 23/02/2022 21:04

@BaconAndAvocado 3lbs is great, what’s your total loss now?

Good class at the gym this morning, although I still struggle with any ab exercises. I keep reading that you can’t target specific areas really though, and it’ll just come as all-over weight loss. I have a lot of stomach fat to lose still, but it seems like I’ve still got a way to go before I’d be happy with it. I’ll have to get down to 9st somehow.

BaconAndAvocado · 24/02/2022 08:35

Thanks SingaporeSlinky that was mainly due to having covid and barely eating a thing in 2 days!
Now my stomach has shrunk and I don't seem to be craving sugary snacks, I'm trying to focus on just eating 3 meals a day.

At my heaviest this time last year I was 10st 6lb so I've lost 10lb.

What I find really helpful is to plan and track my food/calories using the Nutracheck app.

Well done you for all your exercise 👊🏻
Apart from walking the woofer, I don't do any other exercise.
In the first lockdown I did Couch25K but never bridged to 10K.

SingaporeSlinky · 28/02/2022 13:18

How’s everyone doing? I’m up to 9st 13 today, thinking (hoping) it’s a mixture of water weight from Chinese takeaway a few nights ago, plus puddings and chocolates from having some relatives staying with us for a few days.

Back to normal routine now kids are back to school. Went to the gym this morning and I’m booked on classes every day this week. Trying to drink plenty of water to flush out my system. Back to 2 meals a day.

Last day of Feb, what’s everyone achieved / goals for March?

BaconAndAvocado · 28/02/2022 20:45

I had a very naughty weekend re food with a huge roast at my mum and dad’s yesterday and various bits of chocolate.

Back on it today. Clocked up 900 cals today and 15,000 steps.

Hoping to lose another lb this week.

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2022 11:54

Into March we go!

Back down a pound, must have flushed out some of the water weight, I did drink loads of water yesterday.

I was so hungry yesterday though, ended up picking at my dinner (plus a random slice of ham - could have been worse!) while I cooked the kids dinner. Me and DH had portobello ‘pizza’ and leftover chow mein from our Chinese takeaway the other night. Came in just under 1000 cals for day.

Today I’ve done a spin class, then an hour in the gym. Coffee, Greek yoghurt, granola, raspberries and grapes, chia and flax seeds. Dinner will be slow-cooker chicken with roasted Mediterranean veg. Aiming for 1000 cals again. Got to get this weight shifting again!
