Accountability - three stone needs to go

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 19:49

Stood on the scales today - I have gained three stone since 2019. None of my clothes fit and I feel really unfit - can’t even touch my toes!

So today is day one. I have walked 17,000 steps and eaten 1500 calories. No booze and no chocolate.

History of ED so need to be sensible.

Goal is to eat less and walk every day. Treadmill ordered.

Hello! I have similar to lose and also have a history of ED (although a long time ago). My breaking point was struggling to put on a pair of tights. I have joint problems and general lack of flexibility, both of which are exacerbated by obesity.

Sounds like you have made an awesome start. I’m on the Noom program and so far it seems really great for accountability and for focusing on long term behaviour change as well as steady weight loss. I have also got a cross trainer at home. Very useful for exercising in the winter.

Hello Taggie 😊

My goal is to lose the weight but also touch my toes! I struggle to bend over to tie my shoes laces which is shocking

Happy New Year @Mellowyellow222 and @TaggieWeightLoss! I would love to join you, I have 3 stone to lose (at least) ordered scales that should arrive in few days so will do a weigh in then!
Planning on counting calories, thinking 1500 a day to be realistic and then brisk walking each day.
What day are you planning on doing your weigh ins?
I am so miserable with my weight gain x

TaggieWeightLoss · 01/01/2022 20:39

Hello again @Mellowyellow222 and @Stargazer89!

On noom, you weigh in every day. I started at 94.6kg on December 7th and am now 89.7kg. I’m aiming for 72kg, probably by May, if I stick at it. You do see fluctuations and irritating plateaus when you weigh everyday but I find it takes away the fear and it is nice to see the graph trending downwards.

I am eating lightly and no carbs during the day and then joining in with the family supper (but with no seconds, no booze and no pudding). I’m averaging about 1200 - 1500 Kcals per day. I think that this is sustainable for a few months. In the long term, I can continue to modify breakfast and lunch as we all have different things anyhow.

I love walking and also my cross trainer on a very gentle setting.

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 20:39

How about a check in every Saturday. I have scales linked to my Fitbit so I weight every day. Not for everyone I know but it works for me.

Planning on a long walk in the morning.

I lost 2 stone recently over the course of 5 months using MyFitnessPal app. Found it great for accountability. I logged everything, set myself a realistic target of 2lbs a week, did a 5km walk virtually every day. I didnt deny myself anything & I had a treat every night of biscuit with my cuppa. I eally enjoyed christmas and a slimmer and trimmer me, best I've been in years. I'm starting again next week to loose another stone. Keep with it and good luck.

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 20:42

Hello @Hardtofindafreename and @Stargazer89.

I downloaded MyFitnessPal today. The barcode scanner is amazing!

Can’t wait for the treadmill to arrive. I used to walk to work so planning a walk in the morning and one in the evening.

Hello!
I'm exactly the same, 3 stone in almost 3 years and I wasn't exactly a stick before. Have also got into bad habits of tok much wine, being generally lazy and staying up too late mindlessly scrolling on my phone.

I got a new planner for Christmas so I'm going to try to structure my days better, work in some exercise and, of course, watch what I'm eating!

liliainterfrutices · 01/01/2022 20:46

I weighed myself today and am in despair. Have joined Slimming World today. Need to lose 4.5 stone. Have done 10000 steps for the last three days, but know I won’t keep it up at work.

liliainterfrutices · 01/01/2022 20:48

I can't remember the last time I touched my toes.

Stargazer89 · 01/01/2022 20:48

Saturday weigh in works for me. I will do my first official weigh in next sat after scales have arrived. logged back in to my fitness pal too!
@Hardtofindafreename that’s amazing, well done you. Can I ask what you set your calories too?

Josette77 · 01/01/2022 20:51

I would like to lose around 10lbs. I also gained the last couple of years. I am doing the 30 day yoga challenge with Adrienne, and cutting back on meat and dairy.
I am in for Saturday check-ins!

Hardtofindafreename · 01/01/2022 20:58

@Stargazer89, I was 91kg starting out and I set my goal to 70kg at half a kg per week. The app gave me 1500 calories a day which I stuck to fairly rigidly. I ended up eating more food than I'd normally eat each day as I was loading my plate with more veg than ever & I kept cards low. I didn't record the daily walk to give me more calories so my weight loss was slightly faster than the app was accounting for. I never thought I'd be able for this change but absolutely delighted with myself that this once I stuck it out. I'm now 74kg and heading to hopefully 65kg by the summer.

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 20:59

Brilliant!!!! Saturday it is then. I am hoping for slow but steady - 2lbs a week

TaggieWeightLoss · 01/01/2022 21:17

Saturday sounds good to me!

@Hardtofindafreename - that is so inspiring. I bet you feel fantastic.

@liliainterfrutices - sorry you are feeling down. I felt awful when I weighed in last month and saw how much I’d gained. Slimmers world is very good. My Dad lost loads there.

ThinWomansBrain · 01/01/2022 21:31

I'll join in - I probably need to loose 4.5 stone, but three would be a good start!
Inspired by someone that posted on MN in December that had made great progress with a meal replacement program, but I can't stand packets of dehydrated stuff with loads of additives, so I've decided to do a short burst of meal replacement but with my favourite home made soup, then introduce a more substantial evening meal when I've lost a bit for a kick start.
Plan is to use stuff up in the fridge (all relatively healthy), start the soup on Tuesday when I go back to work - and stick to that for a few weeks.
Spreadsheet is all set up, new battery in my pedometer. What could go wrong?! Hmm

CrunchieForMe · 01/01/2022 21:38

I’ve gained 3 stone in the last 3 years as well. I’ve got a tendency to binge in the evening. Im using nutracheck and aiming for 1500 kcals a day. I stopped drinking in Feb last year and hoped that would help me lose some but unfortunately I replaced it with chocolate! I would be happy with 1lb a week because if I restrict too much I tend to binge.

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 21:40

We will be awesome 😎

Stargazer89 · 01/01/2022 22:05

@Hardtofindafreename that’s so good and really motivating! go you!

ahh it’s crazy how the weight can slowly creep up and then before you know it 3 stone has piled on! I feel so uncomfortable in all my clothes 😫

We can do this!

Stargazer89 · 02/01/2022 08:37

Morning!
Just thought i’d post on here to try and keep me on track for the day!
I am going to try and do the 16:8 fasting so not eating until after 11am.
Slept horrendously with my DD keeping me up most of the night so I would usually grab a biscuit or two.
What’s everyone else doing to have a positive day?

Mellowyellow222 · 02/01/2022 08:53

Good morning! I am going to have a healthy breakfast soon - fruit and yoghurt - then head out for a walk

OP posts:
Stargazer89 · 02/01/2022 09:09

Great start to the day @Mellowyellow222
I am going to try and get a walk in too!

CrunchieForMe · 02/01/2022 09:22

My struggle is always breakfast. So those of you who aren’t fasting, what are your go to breakfasts when you are trying to lose weight?

Mellowyellow222 · 02/01/2022 09:32

I have a mullet light and slice a banana through it. Yum.

And, while I know it isn’t ideal, I also have slimfast meal replacement bars some mornings and some days for lunch. Work can be intense and I don’t always have time to leave my little home office!

OP posts:
CrunchieForMe · 02/01/2022 09:52

Maybe yogurt and fruit is a good shout. I could definitely take that in to work with me as I sometimes feel I eat first thing although I’m not hungry.
