I thought a thread would help keep me motivated.

I started on the 27th December. Weighed in at 15st 12lb after gaining 4 stone over the last 2 years

I set my eating window between 12-6pm.

I don't plan to weigh regularly as I get obsessed with the scales. I really want need to lose 6 stone this year!

Anyone else want to join me?

I'm still finding the fasting ok, but have been feeling sick after eating and had a bit of an upset stomach yesterday and today. I've not been eating anything massively rich or anything like that, so it's a bit odd. Has anyone else had this?

It may well just be a bug, rather than from fasting. DS seems to pick up everything from nursery so could definitely be that instead.

MsTSwift · 10/01/2022 17:05

Out the other side started this in 2019 lost the 2 stone I needed to and so far kept it off. Exercise most mornings too. Feel great worked for me anyway. I don’t eat til noon then have small lunch minimise snacks dinner at 7 ish on small plate no food after dinner. Relax at weekends.

MsTSwift · 10/01/2022 17:06

Give it time though took me from oct - feb to lose 2 stone and you have to live like that thereafter!

danni0509 · 11/01/2022 07:15

Morning everyone.

I'm having tuna pasta salad for lunch, & pizza / garlic bread for tea. With a piece of fruit somewhere a long the line.

I'm on day 15 now.

I'm losing it more slowly this time (4lb in 2 weeks) i would usually lose half a stone in my first week but I'm not going hungry doing this were as on other diets i would be starving.

I cracked on Saturday night and ate half a tin of shortbreads and 4 weetabix, that would be me off the wagon permanently, but I woke up Sunday and had a word with myself 🤣 straight back on track!

Have a lovely day!!

Just came across this thread and hope you don't mind if I join? It's something I've thought about doing and kind of done in the past not deliberately ... I.e. skipped breakfast. So think i should set my window 11-7 as we're always finished dinner by then and it will encourage no snacking.

I also need to get away from the McDonald breakfasts that I enjoy twice a week or so.

So if I have plans one day to go out for dinner, do I just adjust my window to 1-9pm for example? Or does it have to be the same time each day?

danni0509 · 11/01/2022 07:36

@mightbeyesmightbeno everybody welcome Smile

Pick the times that suits you best, I do 12-6pm, some people on here do 11-7pm or 12-8pm. I think somebody also does 1pm-9pm.

@mightbeyesmightbeno I've been changing my times depending what I've got on. I make sure that my fast is always at least 16 hours, sometimes it's been longer if I know that I'll need to eat later that day. Good luck!

Elwynne · 11/01/2022 08:33

I lost a pound! Finally! It only took 10 days Blush
Hope everyone else is doing ok

milkysmum · 11/01/2022 08:38

Late, but I'm in! I've had several periods of IF in past and know it works- just have really lost my motivation and the weight has crept back on again. I've stopped drinking from January so time to sort the eating habits back out again too 😊

forressttheouut · 11/01/2022 09:50

I'm not doing great as I didn't fast at all over the weekend and ended up going for pizza on saturday and curry on sunday Blush but I still did the fasts so hoping that counts for something. Will weigh myself tomorrow and see if any damage was caused. Yesterday I fasted until 12.30pm but stopped eating at 7 and today I am doing 10.30-6 I change up the times a bit depending on what i'm doing in the day which means my fast isn't always 16 hours its sometimes longer sometimes a bit shorter. This probably slows progress but I find it much more sustainable
I have a ridiculously sweet tooth which is where I fall down on my calorie intake but i've been trying to have something like a bit of cheese and fruit or crackers rather than my preferred afternoon snack or half the biscuit tin or a family size chocolate bar

danni0509 · 11/01/2022 10:37

@forressttheouut I'm the same with a sweet tooth. I'm really liking mini breadsticks dipped in Philadelphia atm.

Hi all - I've been doing 16:8 and Have noticed a change in my
Stomach shape but no loss on the scales. My tdee is only 1550 so I think I really
Need the 2 x fast days to get a deficit going.

Are you all doing a small fasting window with no calorie counting or fast days?

FastingFuriously · 11/01/2022 14:53

I too have a sweet tooth. My solution is homemade brownies made with dark chocolate and less sugar than the original recipe. I cut them into small 200 cal squares. I don’t know if it’s because they are not so sweet as shop bought biscuits etc or because I have had to make them but I don’t tend to binge on them. Show me a packet of cookies and they’ve gone in 60 seconds so this has been a revelation that has helped me with the diet so far.

poblwc · 11/01/2022 14:57

@onwardsandupwards22 how long have you been doing 16:8 for? Have you been calorie counting?

I've been doing 7/8ish hour eating window. No calorie counting but trying to avoid snacking.

I'm going to do this for a few weeks and see how it goes. Will have to consider calorie counting if 16:8 without calorie counting doesn't make a difference.

Since New Years.

In the past I've had success with 5:2 (only) so I think that combined with 16:8 should work. I'm a shorty at just 5"2 and my TDEE is 1550. I need to lose at least a stone to take me to 9st 4lbs. Anything under 9 would be amazing.

Forgot to say I've not been calorie counting.

Laffielle · 12/01/2022 02:13

Nakd bars are good for a sweet tooth.

I'm mid night shift and my fasting period is out of the window. I need to come up with a plan ! I did just catch my first baby though Grin

forressttheouut · 12/01/2022 06:11

76.5kg this morning which is only 0.3kg lost but at least its a movement in the right direction. Think I need to be stricter with calorie counting and weekend to see a real difference.
@FastingFuriously that's a good idea, how do you work out the calories? do you just add everything up
@Laffielle i'm not in the UK and the only place i've ever seen naked bars is in the ridiculously expensive health food shop. Congrats on the baby catching!

prettycolours · 12/01/2022 13:37

Have been doing this for 7 days now, weighed myself this morning and I've lost 2 kg! I'm so happy.

I've actually been really surprised how well I've been getting on with it, the hunger during the day doesn't really bother me at all, it's only in the evenings sometimes after dinner I have to fight the urge to snack. My window is 1-9, and I allow myself coffee with milk during my fasting period.

poblwc · 13/01/2022 09:54

I am a bit lacking in motivation today. Slept badly and was awake with DS at 5am and it's bloody freezing.

Despite saying I wouldn't, I have weighed myself and can see that I haven't lost anything in the first week of fasting. It's a bit disheartening.

How is everyone else doing?

forressttheouut · 14/01/2022 07:03

Feeling disheartened this morning weighed myself again and am back up to 77kg despite fasting 6-12 the last few days and counting calories. Need to stop myself weighing anymore than once a week because I know these fluctuations are natural but I still get so disheartened by them

I am the same way Forresst. I started new years and I weighed then. My next weigh is tomorrow as i get scale obsessed if I weigh daily. I am really on edge about tomorrow. I hope I have lost a few pounds in the two weeks! When I did very low carb weight FLEW off me, but returned with a few extra friends when I stopped. I know I won"t have lost as much as I did with almost zero carb and that is ok. The difference is that I can easily follow this for life. I am not calorie counting. I have cut out fast food (which I was eating way too much off) and wine. Wine needed to go anyway as I was starting to become too dependent on it and was drinking three glasses a day and sometimes more! Doesn't help that I own a restaurant with a full bar lol. Keep going!!!! we can ALL do this!!! Next week will be a better weigh in for you I am sure of it!!
22in22 · 14/01/2022 19:19

Weighed today and have lost 3lbs this week, making it 4lbs total.since 1st Jan.

I've been back a work and have got into a good routine, eating a main meal about 2pm (leftovers from family's previous night's dinner or something bought).and then just having fruit or a snack at around 6pm. I've not been calorie couting sing this routine in the week but will need to over the weekend.

I've binged a bit today though - had a burger, chips and chocolate and feel bleugh because of it.
