I thought a thread would help keep me motivated.

I started on the 27th December. Weighed in at 15st 12lb after gaining 4 stone over the last 2 years

I set my eating window between 12-6pm.

I don't plan to weigh regularly as I get obsessed with the scales. I really want need to lose 6 stone this year!

Anyone else want to join me?

I've managed to do 11am - 7pm window for the past couple of days. I'm now away on a short break until Friday so I won'!t be calorie counting but will aim for 10am - 6pm eating window. I don't really like eating late anyway but if this end up being 10am - 8pm I can live with that. Fortunately I'll be doing lots of walking over the next few days! I will weigh and report on Friday.

It suits me best to eat my main meal or the bulk of my calories early on as a substantial breakfast or lunch. I will then have a very small dinner. Sometimes this doesn't fit in with family plans and my downfall is when I get home late and DH has cooked for me, which I feel obliged to eat. Need to be much better at planning and communicating about meals in future.

@2319inprogress Someone upthread recommended Zero app, which I'm giving a go. Have you tried it?

MustardLoseIt · 04/01/2022 13:18

It's been really encouraging reading through all the posts today.

I am very loosely starting today. I woke up at 5.30 this morning feeling sick with stomach ache and I think it's because I've eaten so much rubbish with not even a whiff of a vegetable for a while!

I've had a ginger tea first thing, black coffee and another ginger tea just now then I'm going to have some cottage cheese, chopped tomatoes/cucumber/spring onion, olives and whatever else I can chuck in for lunch. I find it quite easy holding off eating until lunch time for some reason. I've almost always done it as I've never been a breakfast eater. I have a huge sweet tooth though which is my downfall! I'm a vegetarian and always struggle to get enough protein in, so I'm going to focus on that. We still have some Xmas stuff left but I'm going to try and not stuff my face to get it all out of the house (my usual tactic!).

I weighed myself this morning at 13st 5 so officially would like to lose 2st. I'm also going to track my calories as it will help me know I'm not massively over eating in my eating window. I weigh daily as it helps keep me motivated.

Good luck everyone!

If anyone is unmotivated about trying fasting these are my results from last April and may - it works (and I struggle losing weight!!)

As a result from eating low carb as well, and staying super hydrated my skin hair and nails felt amazing, my skin felt so much plumper that it reversed the wrinkles on my forehead (which unfortunately came back after drinking alcohol again!)

My energy was much better on fasting days also.

Unfortunately for me in the second pic; the last data point is where I fell ill with covid end of may so I lost just as quick with two weeks of no eating whatsoever

Looking forward to getting back on the wagon and losing my Christmas chub!

Also the anomolies on the graph was from weigh in after the weekends, I allowed myself sat and Sunday carbs so my water weight made the scales shoot up beginning of every week for a day Smile

2319inprogress · 04/01/2022 15:16

Thanks @22in22 I do have zero running as well just now Grin unfortunately it doesn't seem to let you plan a week & I find it much easier to see my plan like that. BodyFast does that (pic hopefully attached) but has little other functionality.

The apps seem mostly set up for IF rather than ADF or longer fasts.

2319inprogress · 04/01/2022 15:16

BodyFast pic 🤞

I'm in! Starting today.

Although I finish at the gym at 9am when I have something nutritious. So if I do 8:16, that means nothing after 5pm!

Gulp!!

Need to lose 3 stone!

I can do it, with your support!

moiraswigs · 04/01/2022 17:47

@MarvEll I exercise first thing every morning (not Sunday). I've Les Mills on Demand so I usually do 30-45 mins of either spinning, weights (pump) or combat, which is a martial arts based class. I'll sometimes top up with 10 min arms/cardio/core depending on what I've done that morning. I have a large glass of sugar free squash after and maybe a coffee but I'm still ok to wait till 11. After 7pm I'll do some yoga. I've been doing exercise daily since June 2020 though so am well used to it, if you're not and just starting IM maybe take it easy for a while, give your body time to adjust Smile

Nothingoriginalhere · 04/01/2022 21:04

I have done just over 19 hours fasted today and broke my fast with seeded bread and pâté - 2 slices. Then a fast 3 mile walk before veg curry for dinner.
New fast started at 20:500 so having a decaf black coffee before bed.
I weighed myself yesterday and was 82kg but at 5f3 1/2 I’m classed as obese so really need to get that down asap.

forressttheouut · 05/01/2022 06:13

I exercise but almost always in the evening I find if I do a morning workout not eating until 12 becomes impossible. I do pretty high intensity weights/cardio though mostly if its a short morning dog walk I'm fine.
I've woken up today feeling very hungry so lasting the 3 hours until 12 is going to be difficult but I'm persisting as I remember last year when i started the first few days where awful then my body settled.
Did my offical first weigh this morning and weigh 76.8kgs so I've only gained .8kgs over Christmas aim is to get down to 65kgs. Last year i got to 70kgs intermittent fasting and then lost steam as life got hard with covid.

recklessgran · 05/01/2022 08:02

Morning all. Day 2 yesterday and still no bread consumed. I managed to stick to 12:8 without a problem and started well with bacon and egg for lunch and a piece of cheese and 6 pecan nuts mid afternoon. Then I had a spectacular fail low carb and calorie wise involving the biscuit tin. 2 jammie dodgers and 4 belgium chocolate biscuits later I then moved on to the treat cupboard and ate half a dozen florentines. I skipped dinner as I wasn't hungry after my binge. Will try harder to stay on the low carb wagon and make wise food choices today. I didn't quite manage to drink my 2 litres of water either so need to improve that too.

littleselda · 05/01/2022 11:09

Made it to 11 again today, I'm still having breakfast though so I don't think I'm actually reducing the quantity of food I'm eating Blush

Although because I have breakfast so late I tend to eat a smaller lunch so I suppose that helps? No idea!

I'm finding this thread pretty helpful for keeping me motivated

I have about 1 stone to lose.. I managed to do it previously when I was on mat leave with DS1 but that was more a result of pretty disordered eating and skipping meals, which I want to try to avoid.

Babymamamama · 05/01/2022 13:31

Just reading what people are doing. It’s great to know I’m not alone in my endeavours. I’m trying to skip breakfast and lunch altogether and then have a very early supper about five and then something a bit later on say 8ish but lighter. So trying to get closer to OMAD or one meal a day. I’ve managed to clock up six thousand steps this morning just running a few errands on foot…feeling like I’ve got a long way to go but I’m on the way…

poblwc · 05/01/2022 14:31

Hello gang, day 2 of IF is going well! I managed to hold off eating until 12.30. I had peanut butter and apple on toast for lunch (breakfast is my favourite meal so fancied something breakfasty for lunch given that I'm missing out).

I've done 7,000 steps and will do another 7,000 after work when I do nursery pick up.

Hope you're all having a good day!

2319inprogress · 05/01/2022 15:21

Broke my fast at 40hours & despite my stomach being a bit loud wasn't actually hungry Confused although I know that tomorrow's long last is always harder as I've only had two meals in between.

recklessgran · 06/01/2022 07:40

Morning all. Day 3 was much better for me. Sardine salad for lunch, 6 pecan nuts and a small piece of cheese mid afternoon for a snack and steak and pepper sauce with more salad for dinner. I didn't drink enough water so will try to improve on that today. Still no formal exercise but the decluttering continues so a bit more activity than just sitting at my desk and five bags put out this morning for charity collection in our village. Despite resolving to weigh weekly [due on Monday] I couldn't resist the scales this morning and am already 2 and a half pounds down. I know this is water weight due to low carbing but it's still very encouraging! Hope everyone else is doing O.K. and none of you mind my daily posts which are helping to keep me focused and accountable.

LoobyLou2709 · 06/01/2022 09:08

Enjoy reading everyone's progress! I read the book delay don't deny and started on Monday. My eating window is 12-5, the first 2 days felt ok but day 3 I was Sooooo tired all morning! When does it start feeling good? And easy? And the energy increases? (One of the main reasons I wanted to try it!) I have about 15lbs to loose, but how long should I give to find out if this is the right diet for me?

littleselda · 06/01/2022 10:13

Another 50 minutes to go and I feel like gnawing my arm off Sad
I went for a run this morning so maybe that's why I'm extra hungry
I also weighed myself and unfortunately have put on half a kilo eek

forressttheouut · 06/01/2022 10:48

@LoobyLou2709 I could never get along with such a short window but find for 16:8 my body adjusts after about a week.
I'm doing better today, had a small bowl of granola for breakfast at 11 and lunch at 2pm was some leftover mince in tomato sauce with a bit of pasta and cheese but heavily bulked out with leftover roast veg and peas.
I've been weighing out foods for the last fews days, not all but things like pasta, cheese, meat etc and its really showing me what a warped view of portion sizes I have. I'm also loosely calorie counting and trying to up protein. Finding it really hard to up protein and stay within my calories. I'm not a fan of lentils and beans and eggs start to make me feel sick if I eat them more than once a week or so which doesn't help

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 06/01/2022 10:59

Just place marking as I have covid atm but hoping to start again Monday

I've never tried IF before, I usually do low carbing, lots of chicken/veg home made soups and oats . Also 20k steps a day and try to do 30 mins of online hiit 3 times a week. It's going to be gard to get back into the swing as I've been messing around since summer and have put on a good stone and a half

IncessantNameChanger · 06/01/2022 11:01

Morning. I am doing 17:7 with no snacks at all. Just lunch and dinner. I didnt feel like having dinner yesterday so left 75% of it. I had a big lunch. Dont feel hungry at all.

I need to start exercising next week once I have got the house back in order Christmas

danni0509 · 06/01/2022 11:04

@LoobyLou2709 I'm doing 12-6pm but often have finished eating by 5pm. So same sort of hours as you. I'm on day 10 today. Some mornings I don't think about food, then days like today I've made my dinner already (sandwich etc) ready for 12 when at precisely 12.02 it will be gone. 😂

danni0509 · 06/01/2022 11:09

I've got it into my head, if I lose 1.5lb a week or 6lb a month by New Year's Eve that will be 5 & a half stone and will be all my excess weight gone. (Anymore then I'll hit my target sooner, happy days)

I get disheartened at small losses so I'm looking at it from a different angle.

IncessantNameChanger · 06/01/2022 12:05

That's good thinking. It's hard sometimes to think about longer goals and just want a immediate result

mrsjhalpert · 06/01/2022 16:11

Such a good way of looking at it. Not to mention that it’s sustainable so no reason it’ll creep back on once you’re down Smile
