I thought a thread would help keep me motivated.

I started on the 27th December. Weighed in at 15st 12lb after gaining 4 stone over the last 2 years

I set my eating window between 12-6pm.

I don't plan to weigh regularly as I get obsessed with the scales. I really want need to lose 6 stone this year!

Anyone else want to join me?

I'm starting on Tuesday when i go back to work, though I might have a little practice run tomorrow. My worry is that sometimes i get a little shaky if i haven't eaten. Dm is diabetic (t2) and I really need to do something before I end up in the same predicament.

Sunshineandrainbow · 02/01/2022 00:34

This is one plan that I have never tried. I weigh 18 stone eeekkk.
Do you eat certain foods between the timings or set ammount of calories?

IncessantNameChanger · 02/01/2022 00:41

I will join you if I may?

I was doing the odd days of only eating the family evening meal before Christmas. Mainly for blood sugars. I think I might go back to it as it was fairly easy easy except for the tea angle. I like tea too much!

BoatingDown · 02/01/2022 00:51

For those this has worked for in the past, do you restrict your carbs during your eating window, or have you seen results from IF alone (being sensible but not restrictive)?

Is it possible to drink coffee with a dash of milk or cream in the morning or does that break the fast completely?

Babymamamama · 02/01/2022 01:07

I have found the videos of Dr Jason Fung and Dr Eric Berg on YouTube super helpful in knowing what foods/drinks to eat and not eat during fasting… and also the myriad benefits which are not limited to weight loss but also include reversing diabetes, reducing cancer risk etc etc. When I found myself wavering last year whilst trying to fast I would watch a video or two as a motivational tool. I really hope I can get back on track now….onward and upward.

Hi, I'm in
my January weekly plan is 2 days fasted & the rest 16:8.

What apps do people like? I like Fastic but trying out BodyFast as I get frustrated changing the ratio each day in Fastic - in BodyFast I can set the whole week.

My stumbling block is my period as I need ibuprofen to get through but can't take on an empty stomach (makes me nauseous) - any suggestions? (A mouthful of something is no good as I won't stop there Blush)

PuffTheMagicDragQueen · 02/01/2022 01:56

I'd like to join too, please. I have piled on the pounds these past two years.

FanGirlX · 02/01/2022 02:22

Yes please!

IHeartCobraKai · 02/01/2022 03:12

Yes, please.

I was keto and doing intermittent fasting until November, and then fell off the wagon some.

Last year I gad a one hour feeding window, so one meal a day, but the weight still didn't come off as fast as it should. This time I'll have a 6 hour window (12pm to 6pm) and low-carb over keto because keto can cause dreadful constipation which suuuuuuucks.

Started yesterday and it was already difficult not nibbling after 6, but it gets easier after a couple of weeks. Just got to re-build the habit :)

twinkydink · 02/01/2022 07:43

So good to see these positive stories! I did day one yesterday and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'm looking forward to the kids being back at school/nursery as that always helps me get my steps up. I'm aiming for 10k a day which I was doing comfortably before the Xmas break.

Back on the peloton yesterday too, but including 3 strength days as well. I've been good with exercise for 2 years - its the food that's my downfall!

I've ordered a load of soulful food one pots to help with lunch times - they are so yummy and make it easier to stay away from the bread!

Nothingoriginalhere · 02/01/2022 08:26

May I join too please, have used IF previously during the week but am rubbish at a weekend and undo all the good work so starting from Monday, am back on it!
I generally do 18/6 but am going to push it to 20/4 for a few weeks to kickstart it again - I find the longer fasts easier once I get going as I don’t feel hungry when in a better routine with it.
I have 3 stone to lose at least.

NewYearsEars · 02/01/2022 09:02

@IHeartCobraKai I wouldn’t worry how fast the weight comes off, as long as it is coming off not on. I see this as something I will do forever (except when kids are on hols I eat with them) so doesn’t matter how long it takes to get to target weight iyswim.

@BoatingDown a few of us have said we have hot drinks with milk and still manage to lose weight with IF.

@2319 I think I would just have a few days off each month if you need to take ibuprofen outside your fasting window. It should still work out as losing weight over the month. If you want to just eat a small amount I find a large banana pretty filling and is probably enough to line your stomach?

I do try to eat healthily as well as during a short window as I know there are lots of other benefits to eating fruit and veg. I also find it easier to stick to if I eat purer foods and I enjoy them more. That said I always have treats if I want them as that is the joy of IF. Other diets fail as you feel restricted.

CandyLeBonBon · 02/01/2022 09:25

I'm in! Have been doing intermittent fasting before Christmas and lost 10kg but Christmas happened and I need to get back into it to lose the other 10kg!

danni0509 · 02/01/2022 09:41

Iheartcobrakai love your username btw. Dh got up especially for the new series. I've done 1 hour a day one meal a day before. 4-5pm I used to do, that's hardcore! I used to have a big meal and pudding but I stopped because I kept feeling shaky during the day. Your right about getting back in the habit, that's all it is isn't it, getting used to doing something and then it becomes natural.

Twinkydink well done on getting through yesterday. I agree it's so much easier when kids are back in school. I'm going walking when ds is back.

Hi to everyone

2hr 20 minutes until I can eat 😍 I'm on day 6 today and my stomach bloat is going down. Am I the only one who can feel themselves actually getting slimmer? I swear when I diet I know I'm losing weight I can feel my face getting thinner, weird to describe.

@danni0509 i have the same feeling but with my lower stomach, almost instantly it feels lighter once I know I'm focusing on eating well!

GinGinItsAWonderfulThing · 02/01/2022 10:20

danni0509 · 02/01/2022 10:22

I’m starting on the 4th, need to get my head around it. Weighed in at 16 stone today and aiming for 12 stone. I’m going to do 10-6 as my eating window as I eat early with my children.

GinGinItsAWonderfulThing · 02/01/2022 10:35

@danni0509 I am in then! Thank you ☺️ Have tried hard not to care about weight/let it define me… but feel I need it more to stop boozing etc?! X

shetlandskies · 02/01/2022 10:45

Day one here and I’m out for lunch but just planning to eat lunch and nothing else today.

Have just cooked poached eggs on toast for everyone. Didn’t bother me not eating them.

Bonbon21 · 02/01/2022 11:03

bounce89 · 02/01/2022 12:36

Joining! Only issue is I can't survive the day without my morning tea with two sugars! Would sweeteners ruin the fast?

Bonbon21 · 02/01/2022 13:32
