Jumping January

Thought I would start the new thread a day early, cannot believe this thread has been going for two years. I joined on 2nd Jan 2020. I'm going to put today's weight in 9st1.25, so a gain of three pounds in December. Aiming to get back to where I was by the end of January and in the longer term a few more pounds.

Thanks octopus. I will come out of gluttony and denial soon!!

Wowwellokthen · 31/12/2021 10:09

Hello, please may I join?

I weighed myself recently after about 6 months and was shocked that I have put on quite a bit of weight. Since I was about 15 I've been bang on 9 stone. But I'm now 45 and the weight has been creeping on over the last couple of years despite me not doing anything differently - peri is here I think.

So, I'm determined to get back to where I was before and stop the middle age spread. I'll be focusing on nutrition and daily walking. I live rurally so plenty of walks to do. Anyone on Fitbit want a new friend to join challenges?

Also, good breakfast ideas? I love my cup of tea (sweetener only) but want to have to eat....ideas of healthy and filling? Porridge?

swallowedAfly · 31/12/2021 10:37

Hmm. 12st2 which is 2lbs down in December but over 2lbs up since before Christmas itms. Still rationally that's positive.

We have a big family meal tomorrow again and then it's back to normal.

Goal for January is to get solidly, stable well under 12stone. Let's say 12st10.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/12/2021 11:09

Good morning, thanks for the new thread! Ending December at 10/7, which having looked back my MFP log I pretty much maintained throughout 2021, with a few forays up rather than down. My preferred weight is 10/3ish so I am not sure why I can’t just shift those 4lb! (I know why, working from home.)

@Wowwellokthen I tend to eat porridge, but also find a soft boiled egg works.

LBB2020 · 31/12/2021 14:58

Thank you for the new thread @Octopus37. I haven’t weighed but will do tomorrow, I have a feeling I’ll be ending 2021 around the same weight as I started it which is annoying!

Wowwellokthen · 31/12/2021 16:28

Thanks Judystilldreamsofhorses

I've done quite well today...40 min walk and not over eaten so far. Driving teens around this evening so no alcohol to tempt me.
Happy new year all

DirtonthePlough · 31/12/2021 21:37

I've just eaten a take away curry mainly poppadoms and onion bhajis and don't think I could jump but I need to rejoin as I've abandoned things since Autumn. I was under another name but was outed on another thread so I've changed a few times since but this is my I'm too round name Grin So hello again familiar faces and welcome to new people joining and thanks to Octopus for yet another thread to keep us going or start us off.
My plan is intermittent fasting again as it worked so well last time. The batteries in the scales have died (or are in a self-preserving coma in case of a shock when I step on them) and I dread to think what I weigh. Around 65kg I think. I'll be brave and find some new batteries and find my starting point. Aim is under 60kg but who knows and I don't want to put a lot of pressure on myself.
Has everyone had a good Christmas? I was given lots of books by my dc including some cookery books so January is going to be a month for trying new recipes and eating less processed foods. I'm going to put the chocolates in the treat jar rather than having them out on the side in the living room to reduce the temptation as I keep eating them.
Here's to a great January 🥂

DirtonthePlough · 31/12/2021 21:50

@Wowwellokthen I'm on fitbit and always up for challenges. I'm active in the week except for school holidays but the weekends are rubbish in general. I like the bingo challenges on there, there's a few of us from MN.

NutellaEllaElla · 01/01/2022 08:15

Good morning and happy new year. I absolutely dread to think how much i've put on but i'm not going to weigh myself, there's no point in upsetting myself tbh. I'm back on it now.

LBB2020 · 01/01/2022 08:29

Morning all, Happy New Year!
10st12 this morning Blush I’ve put on half a stone in a month! I knew it would be bad but I wasn’t expecting that, definitely the wake up call I need! Not going to dwell on it too much, onwards and hopefully downwards for the scales!

swallowedAfly · 01/01/2022 08:54

Happy New Year everyone Smile

I'm starting January at 12:1.4 - Christmas has only cost me a couple of pounds really which I'm pleased about.

LBB2020 · 01/01/2022 09:01

Well done @swallowedAfly!
I think I’m going to try going lower carb over the next few weeks, I had GD when pregnant with DS2 and am quite aware of the increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes now (I’m also due my annual blood test and after such a bad December I wouldn’t be surprised if I am pre-diabetic!)

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 01/01/2022 10:32

Well doneIswallowedaFly Star Nutella you might be pleasantly surprised, I just got on there with my eyes closed, 9st1.5 so not bad at all. My lowest in this effort has been 8st 13.5 so not much of a jump and 6lbs down on my start end Oct. I am also going to eat (plenty of) low carb. I got one of the Michael Mosley's, with no intention of dling 800 cal days but love the food in it and will up portions, add lentils and beans etc. Lots of lovely looking dinners and good lunches for work too. I have signed up for free 90 day trial of fitbit premium having heard good things. Two hours of tennis planned for tomorrow and while I absolutely love it I'm surprised by a decent calorie burn too - 560cals the other day. Happy New Year all! I'm going back to the very basics of basics today - water before and after each meal, a walk of some sort, teeth and skincare. Overall in 2022 I would love to increase strength and fitness and move away from my urge to binge.

DirtonthePlough · 01/01/2022 11:49

Happy new year everyone!
I have bought lots of veg in my last shop and am planning on eating less processed foods. We slept really late and I've not had breakfast yet but I'm going to have yogurt and muesli. Apples are getting a bit tough now and not as nice. Pj day today playing games and baking.

NutellaEllaElla · 01/01/2022 12:04

No that's great heygirl!

LBB, easy on, easy off, that's what they say!

Welcome @allaboutthebooks. Some people like intermittent fasting. I'm a calorie counter using my fitness pal, it works very well for me.

I would recommend knowing your downfall (for me it's getting the munchies around 3-4pm) and being prepared. I build in a low cal sweet thing for around that time. Also, drink shit loads of water. You won't have room to snack loads.

Happy new year! 10/7 today, I almost didn’t weigh because my period started yesterday but here we are. Did 12,000 steps yesterday but today will be a pj day.

DirtonthePlough · 01/01/2022 13:49

Yikes 65.9kg Blush although that is after 2 huge cups of tea, a glass of orange juice and a Fried potato buttie this morning after a curry last night plus af is due.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 01/01/2022 14:02

Oh no Dirton, don't weigh after eating. First thing in the morning without a stitch on you Grin

Octopus37 · 01/01/2022 16:54

Welcome @DirtonthePlough and @Wowwellokthen. 9st0.25 this mornig, but think I will be up more tomorrow causes I've finished off the chocolate and salted caramel cheesecake from last night. Aiming to get back to my December weight or under 9st for my Birthday which is a week tomorrow. @Wowwellokthen the start of peri made a big difference to me, I joined this thread two years ago when I was nearly 45. Feels like another life ago cause it was before the pandemic. Aiming to do my steps and drink more water over the next week. I'm not going to diet as such, cause I'll just feel starving then, will just go gently.

Happy new year everyone!

Can I join ? I need some accountability!

I think I've got about 8kg to lose. Will weigh tomorrow morning, too hungover today.

Aim is to get to 60kg, I'm 5ft 5.

Plan is less bread, processed food, sugar and alcohol. More water. 16-8.

Exercise walk, swim and bike turbo. I'm not able to lift weight or do anything high impact following a surgery.

Considering giving up tea and coffee, I think when it wears off I feel tired then eat sugar or carbs for energy

Wowwellokthen · 01/01/2022 18:37

Thanks for the greetings

Anyone you wants some Fitbit challenges...my username is "tropicalcrush" add me Smile

Another decent day today....held back on the eating and been for two walks.

64.8kg just weighed in....will only weigh every 4-5 days

NutellaEllaElla · 01/01/2022 19:19

Welcome welcome.

A good day for me. Walked 10 miles and back on the wagon food wise. I'm still full from all the festive indulging.
