Just over 14 weeks until Christmas, lose a stone with me.

I have decided to try and sort myself out. I am fat, frumpy and so so fed up.

It is just over 14 weeks until Christmas, I am hoping to lose a stone by then. Surely I can manage to lose 1lb per week.

Anyone want to join me, I realise this is short notice!

Count me in! Soon to be 40 and I feel and look awful, a stone off would really help! Grin

MrsSoft · 14/09/2021 09:56

Morning, and hello to the new joiners.

Day three for me, I have so far been very good. I don't feel quite so bloated today.

I went to a bbq last night, I was worrying about it all day knowing I would just scoff everything in my path.

Thankfully there was plenty of salad and I had a burger and sausage but didn't have the buns. I also managed to swerve the homemade pavlova. This was particularly difficult 😁

It's pouring with rain here, the thought of walking the dog isn't very appealing but I will make myself go. I have managed roughly 11,000 steps per day for the last two days.

Enjoy your healthy eating day.

@MrsSoft that sounds like a huge amount of control at the BBQ, not sure I could manage that - especially no buns. Bread is my nemesis. So well done!
I'm another lb down this morning, so on track for a 4lb first week, I expect the level off after this. I'm pretty sure it's just water weight/bloating that I lose in the first week but whatever it is, it's great for morale.

I'm trying to get into a food routine so I don't have to make last minute choices for meals as that's where I tend to fall down.
I have 1200 kcal on mfp, but I let myself go up to 1400 without any guilt.

Breakfast: two large eggs, scrambled. No milk or butter but the highest quality eggs I can get (love burford browns!) With a portion of lettuce, plum tomatoes and cucumber. I find this pretty filling and really refreshing. Not as comforting as a giant bowl of crunchy nut, but I still enjoy it.
1 cup of decaf tea with ss milk

Lunch: Currently I have a quiche (spinach, red pepper and feta, from Lidl which is AMAZING) which I have 1/4 a day with another portion of salad items.
Cup of lemongrass and ginger tea
Afternoon snack: piece of fruit (apple, grapefruit) or small portion of full fat yoghurt
Cup of decaf tea with ss milk

Dinner: whatever I can make with the remaining calories really. I eat at work as I work late shifts so it has to be reheatable. Last night and tonight I have homemade beef goulash (beef, tomato puree, onion, carrots) roughly following Hairy Bikers recipe. With a big portion of (you guessed it) salad bits.
Cup of three ginger tea

Evening when I get home : cup of decaf tea with ss milk.

Hi all, I have just had an exercise bike delivered so I can start getting more exercise in, I am also aiming on a minimum of 5,000 steps a day and plan to gradually increase this, perhaps by a few hundred every couple of weeks weeks until I reach 10,000. I had a pretty sedentary lifestyle and was averaging 3,000 a day, and hope by hitting at least 5,000 a day for now I'll feel motivated again and like I'm getting somewhere.

I also need to work out the best way to plan meals and snacks, I work night shifts and I find I get hungry at 4/5am and crave sugary snacks and then will snack on rubbish.

Everyone seems to be doing well, well done!

MrsSoft · 14/09/2021 14:09

@Georgie2018 a new exercise bike, how exciting. I hope that you enjoy it.

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster. Rubbish day at work and argument with hubby, so when he suggested chinese takeaway I couldn’t really say no (on the plus side, only the second one this year).

Doing better today though.

MrsSoft · 14/09/2021 18:30

@LastStarfighter sorry that you had a rubbish day yesterday. Glad that you are doing ok today.

Any form of upset makes me want to eat, chocolate and sweet stuff is my go to.

OP posts:
Keladrythesaviour · 14/09/2021 18:45

Sorry to hear you had a rubbish day @LastStarfighter, just remember one bad day doesn't make a bad diet! The odd Chinese isn't a bad thing I don't think Grin

Rainallnight · 14/09/2021 19:23

Today was supposed to be my first day and I just couldn’t hack it - DD was awake poorly half the night, then home from school poorly all day, with DS home exhausted from settling in at nursery at lunchtime. I ate my way through the day Blush

MrsSoft · 14/09/2021 19:37

@Rainallnight that sounds rough. I am sorry that your daughter is sick. I hope that she is soon on the mend.

Tomorrow is another day. 🌺

A takeaway after an argument used to be a thing here, too; thankfully we seem to have stopped (the takeaways, at least!).

Poor RainAllNight, it's so tough with small kids!

I went mad and treated myself to a quarter of a doughnut this evening. Successfully - the rest is still there, waiting for DH. I don't know who I'm turning into at all, but I'm delighted!

Keladrythesaviour · 14/09/2021 21:41

@UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername are you some kind of goddess of control?? No way on earth I could stop at a quarter of donut Shock

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 14/09/2021 23:03

@NothingIsWrong I am in awe of your 50km run Shock Shock the most I have ever done is 5 miles and that was at the peak of my fitness!! I think I'm just not one of life's natural runners!

Oh @Rainallnight, it's very tough when your DC are ill and no-one's getting much rest. DS1 was a terrible sleeper and I remember those mornings of just staggering through everything like a zombie! I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke and eat a lot of chocolate to give me a bit of energy...

Not too bad a day here but I do feel like I eat too late, well, I eat around 5pm with the DC but then am hungry again by 8.30pm and end up having something else! I don't eat huge amounts at each meal but it still feels like too late. I did do the 30 Day Shred earlier for the first time in ages, am expecting to be in pain tomorrow Confused

Nuffaluff · 15/09/2021 10:03

We’ll done everyone who is trying on here. We can do this!
Still feel ill with Covid so I’ve not really started yet.
However, I’ve decided that to take advantage of the loss of taste and smell and only eat when I’m hungry. It won’t help me lose weight because I’m just sitting on my arse all day, but hopefully I won’t put any on!
I hope everyone has a good day.

Nuffaluff · 15/09/2021 10:05

Actually my DH bought me some sauerkraut yesterday as i can taste saltiness.
Isn’t that supposed to be really good for helping you to lose weight?

Keladrythesaviour · 15/09/2021 10:33

@Magdelana how unbelievably rude!! I can't believe someone would day that to you! I'd have a bad day after a comment like that, I don't blame you at all. Today is a new day!

@Nuffaluff I LOVE sauerkraut. It adds immediate flavour to everything. Great on the side of an otherwise boring salad or sandwich. Hopefully you can taste that! And yes meant to be very good digestion aid I believe.

I've spent the morning making jam Grin only tasted the odd spoon dip though so not too worried there, more the temptation for bread and jam once it sets...
Another lb down this morning so 11st 7lbs. I feel good until I remember that weight used to make me cry Blush

Keladrythesaviour · 15/09/2021 10:33

Oh and went for a cold water swim in our local swimming lake, did about 750m.

BarryTheKestrel · 15/09/2021 10:41

I'm joining in a few days late if no one objects! I'm 31, 5ft 7 and 12st 7. I am currently taking part in a walking challenge for the month of 11000 steps a day. I work in a sedentary job, mainly from home, so this has been a massive challenge but I'm currently 16k steps over target which is nice! Need to focus more on my eating now which has become really lazy and convenient.

MrsSoft · 15/09/2021 10:47

@Magdelana bloody hell that was harsh. Why do some people not realise what comes out of their mouth can have such an effect on the recipient. Im sorry for you and embarrassed for your not so friend.

@Nuffaluff sorry that you are still sick 🌺

OP posts:
theworldsbiggestcrocodile · 15/09/2021 10:47

I'm in! I'm 5.5 and about 10.5 stone-my size 12 things are getting a a bit snug so time to take action.
I looked best at between 9.5 and 10 stone and smaller size 12 or a 10 so that's the aim.
I'm going to do intermittent fasting (16:8) as that has worked for me before and I don't find it that hard, (but will try to make low carb choices during my 8 hrs of eating time) plus walking for at least an hour a day. And desperately Need to cut down on the wine!

52andblue · 15/09/2021 11:32

I'll join too if I may?
I'm 52, 5ft7, 12st.
I'd like to get down to nearer 10st.
(I was 10st10 before lockdown)
I have limited mobility so I can't move much so all diet based for me.
I find evenings hard as I tend to enjoy nuts and chocolate.
I'm aiming not to eat after 7pm and to reduce carbs, esp simple ones.

Nuffaluff · 15/09/2021 11:37

@Magdelana wow, she doesn’t sound very nice. Presumably she is very slim? I would only ever talk to people about weight loss who are trying to lose weight themselves. It’s important to only have supportive voices. Don’t worry about eating the chocolate either, just start again today. You can do this.
We’ll done @Keladrythesaviour you are doing brilliantly. I’m looking forward to exercising again when I’m better.
I’ll try to read the posts properly later but my head feels like it’s stuffed with cotton wool.
Welcome to all new people!

Georgie2018 · 15/09/2021 14:44

Hi,

@Magdelana as everyone has said, I can't believe your "friend" said that, and definitely don't stress about the chocolate and wine!

I've come down with a bad cold (not covid I've checked), and currently trying not to give in to the temptation to sit in front of the TV with crisps and chocolate feeling sorry for myself lol.

On a positive note though I did my steps yesterday, and weighted myself this morning after work and I'm 1 pound down yay.
