I have decided to try and sort myself out. I am fat, frumpy and so so fed up.

It is just over 14 weeks until Christmas, I am hoping to lose a stone by then. Surely I can manage to lose 1lb per week.

Anyone want to join me, I realise this is short notice!

@Mum5net 😍😍😍

Hartleyhare1206 · 16/02/2022 11:29

Hi @Mum5net @BasicMadeira
Sounds like a bumpy few days? It’s crap trying to lose weight at this time of year isn’t it? Everything seems dark and miserable and comfort food is much nicer than salad!
Not doing brilliantly my end - STS last week - me and DH have caught what we presume was DDs bug from a couple of weeks ago and have felt crap for about 12 days now - all the covid symptoms but lots of negative results - we have been calling it “faux-vid” 😂 anyway, exhaustion, nausea, aches, chills and coughing so hard your throat feels dead - mainly all night so no sleep - has meant we’ve not eaten brilliantly - fruit and salad doesn’t do half as much for nausea as toast and crisps 🤦‍♀️ Struggled to get steps in but made the effort to try and average 10k a day. So no weight loss when I hopped on the scales on Saturday. Feeling a bit brighter this week so valiantly trying to get back on it. Well let you know how that works out.

Those creme eggs though?! That’s amazing!!! Wish your friend was my friend! Not really in line with the diet chat, but have you ever made/had creme egg brownies?! They are lush!
Think I might have gained a lb just thinking about them🤣🤣

Hartleyhare1206 · 16/02/2022 11:33

Oh and @BasicMadeira I feel your pain on the socialising front - but it’s SO nice after two years of crap to just enjoy doing nice stuff again isn’t it?! I’d totally stuff the diet and enjoy life when you get the opportunity to - these times seem so much more precious now, don’t they?
Next week is 1/2 term for us so think I’ll struggle to diet that week as we have lots of catch ups and outings planned - but it’s so lovely that we CAN, and can’t wait to see DDs friends and their mums - celebrating with cake seems reasonable 😂😂😂

Hartleyhare1206 · 19/02/2022 14:53

1lb off for me today and 8.8lbs off In total since 10th Jan.
Slow but all going the right way.
Not expecting this week to be good as a busy half term lies ahead and will be eating out a fair bit plus DD wants to do some baking and make a princess afternoon tea!
Enjoyed the scales victory today as next week will leave me weeping I’ve no doubt!
Hope you’re having a fab weekend @BasicMadeira and @Mum5net?

BasicMadeira · 21/02/2022 08:22

Well it's 179lb this morning which is a gain from my lowest. Had a great weekend and have my period so think there is a lb in that.
You are doing so well @Hartleyhare1206 are you calorie counting and meal planning? Any tips?

Hartleyhare1206 · 21/02/2022 11:20

@BasicMadeira your period will totally be stuffing that up I reckon!
I’m calorie counting - approx 1300 mon-Fri and 1500-1600 on Saturday and Sunday. Loads of water and fruit and veg and only eating between 1-8pm
Although in the last 48 hours I’ve eaten a donut, a giant cookie, been out for a curry, and am going out for lunch shortly.
So don’t copy me kids, it’s not big and it’s not clever 🤣🤦‍♀️

BasicMadeira · 21/02/2022 11:38

@Hartleyhare1206 I always tried to copy the cool kids! Toddling off to buy a doughnut now ... no, no, no
Yes, I think I just need to cal count a little more. MFP has me about 1500 per day to lose a half pound a week which is fair but I need to stick to it. I will this week. What I find a bit unfair is that my Fitbit will tell me I have used 3000 cal a day with my moving and walking etc.
how about you @Mum5net ? Can we still hang together and go slowly down this path?

Mum5net · 21/02/2022 12:36

You are both doing really well.
@Hartleyhare1206 your approach is a realistic and considered one. As the weather improves it will become a bit easier
@BasicMadeira we are all like the stock exchange and fluctuate but your trend is great Grin
I'm about 61.5 which is not ideal but there's a lot of stuff going on which makes it difficult to concentrate on me, and eating a creme egg, or two resolves the issues momentarily Sad

@Basic, check your dms, I think I emailed you my email address for FitBit challenge. Averaging 13k a week right now which is rubbish. However we've had snow, wind, rain and all that family stuff .Grin
Going Malaga on Saturday if Granny crisis x 2 improves. One has Covid, the other is in an ambulance Grin

Hartleyhare1206 · 21/02/2022 17:54

Let’s keep going chaps - we can do this!!
Not going to tell you what I’ve eaten today. I feel like the honey monster 🤣

Mum5net · 22/02/2022 10:54

Ha @Hartleyhare1206, today's a new day.

Things all a bit pear-shaped up here and my weigh in confirmed that in actuality, as 62.5 kg. Sad. So on nil-by-mouth except water until teatime every day until Saturday's flight. Literally, lots going on for everyone and my solution was to snack.

Managed 15.7k steps yesterday and at 11.6k today at 10 am so, at least on track with that. Much prefer March.

Mum5net · 22/02/2022 17:26

Ok made it through to 1700 with only two slices of buttered sourdough toast (large) and at 13.3k steps. Keep thinking of flabby tummy in jeans. Off to do some sit up exercises now. #LastMinute

Hartleyhare1206 · 22/02/2022 18:03

You’re hardcore @Mum5net!

Mum5net · 24/02/2022 09:48

61.4 kg so a small improvement not aided by crisps and beer at 10pm

Step count:
Mon 15.6 k
Tues 16.2 k
Wed 19.3 k
Today at 11 k at 9.00 am in the snow.
Weather in Malaga is rain - so maybe I won't need to fit into my skinny clothes Grin
Hope @BasicMadeira & @Hartleyhare1206 you are not being swept by gales again. We have snow.

Hartleyhare1206 · 24/02/2022 11:07

I’m still a honey monster. Or maybe Incredible Hulk? Either way feel in about to explode out of my clothes. Think my eye lids have a muffin top so I’m too fat to see what the weather is doing 🤣🤦‍♀️😂

BasicMadeira · 24/02/2022 20:51

Well done on the steps @Mum5net . I can't see any pm option on the ap so I will log onto a tablet and see your pm re Fitbit.
Cookie Monster in the house @Hartleyhare1206 but that's okay. No guilt. Just enjoy and move on x

Hartleyhare1206 · 01/03/2022 19:57

How are we doing?

Did you enjoy Malaga @Mum5net?
How are you getting on with MFP @BasicMadeira?

BasicMadeira · 02/03/2022 20:17

Hi, well I have readjusted the mfp to loose half a pound a week. I am keeping to it fairly well (well not doing it that long) went down one pound last week but it crept on again over the weekend. So STS. Am 177 or 178 each morning. Still walking (but yet to sign into a desktop site- doh)
Am slightly hungry now and have brushed my teeth to avoid temptation. I was at the docs recently and was saying that I am trying to loose weight but after 40.... she was just "I know" no magic words just recognizing how it is. And if a clever doctor finds it hard no wonder I find it hard too!
Was the sunshine lovely @Mum5net ?

Mum5net · 02/03/2022 22:02

Just back home. Gorgeous. Will catch up tomorrow as I’ve just spent 40 mins changing over our WiFi router.

Mum5net · 03/03/2022 16:02

@BasicMadeira Resent the PM with my email address, but if you don't see it, send me your email by PM
@Hartleyhare1206
Holiday was great, thanks. Not huge amounts of sun but a fabulous hotel and four nights with my DD, whom I hadn't seen since Jan 3. Perfect location, south facing balcony and roof top terrace. A tad more expensive than I had hoped, but it was necessary to get quality time with DD as she has missed so much. Wore my Boden linen flare legged suit and annoyingly forgot to consider taking my other linen suit from eBay. Ate a lot, many beers and not that many steps, averaged about 20k. However, it was special to escape. Now weighing in at 61.7 kg so had better start again on less food.

Mum5net · 05/03/2022 18:29

Forgot to say @BasicMadeira DD and I grabbed a precious outdoor table at a lively and lovely little tapas bar during the Andalusia Day Parade. It was called Restaurante Madeira so I thought it had to be the one! Was fab and very reasonable

BasicMadeira · 06/03/2022 13:42

Glad that you enjoyed your mini holiday @Mum5net . It sounds lovely; relaxing and easy. Thank goodness we are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy such pleasures. The restaurant sounds like my cup of tea (coffee really) good food and a good price!
I have not weighed for a few days so I will brave the scales tomorrow. Have been eating my full calorie allowance and went over one day. Not sure it was enough. Have borrowed davina's 5 weeks to sugar free, not to necessarily go completely sugar free just to expand my mind a little. I was talking to a podiatrist once and she looked great- she was something like 67/68 and she said once she passed 40/50 (can't) remember she gave up white flour, sugar etc. she was really trim and her skin was good.
How are you getting along @Hartleyhare1206 ? Set for the new week and the joy of meal planning that it brings?

BasicMadeira · 08/03/2022 13:50

Quick check in for my own sanity. 179.8 yesterday and now 178.2. Guessing that the Monday weight was a good hangover from Saturday's pizza.

Hartleyhare1206 · 09/03/2022 13:12

Ooh downwards is good @BasicMadeira
How’s the low sugar/sugar free going @Mum5net

Still plodding along here - seem to be in a silly trap of eating too much at weekends then being really good during to week to undo the damage before eating too much again at the next weekend. Constantly loosing and gaining the same couple of lbs. Not big and not clever. Actually, maybe big…my arse is anyway 🤔🤦‍♀️

Mum5net · 10/03/2022 13:42

@Hartleyhare1206 I'm in that food trap myself but at one stage had myself back up at 63.0 kg. Presently I'm at 61.7 kg and trying to keep away from sweetie drawer. Since Mon @BasicMadeira and I have been on a FitBit 5 day step challenge which my dog is also doing. I'm also on a drinking challenge as I had friends over Tues and Wed night and I outdrank both of them on both nights.
I've actually bought some more white flour and unrefined sugar this week as I need to make cakes for my DM who has recovered well from Covid. I've also bought four share packets Fruit Gums. To be honest my discipline is out the window.Grin
I guess its the weekends which are collectively dangerous. I for one do fewer steps. Going to consider new strategy.

BasicMadeira · 11/03/2022 08:43

Ha! Angel during the week clocking out and devil signing in for the weekend shift. I was 177 yesterday and ate breakfast this morning so not sure today. We are way for the weekend for DH birthday soooooo will balance healthy choices with niceness.
@Mum5net you are a walking machine! I am no where near your step count I can't keep up. I also have a dog and I do laps of the dog park but I do avoid it in the rain and it becomes a mud bath.
