I have decided to try and sort myself out. I am fat, frumpy and so so fed up.

It is just over 14 weeks until Christmas, I am hoping to lose a stone by then. Surely I can manage to lose 1lb per week.

Anyone want to join me, I realise this is short notice!

@Nuffaluff so sorry that you are ill with covid. I hope that you recover really quickly. My 23 year old son had covid a couple of weeks ago. He was very rough for two days but the lack of taste went on for quite a few days.

I'm down to 12st 8 this morning I must have been heavier than 12st 10 last week as going by my scales I'm down 3.5lb this week.
It's my first week really trying for a long time. I know those sort of losses won't keep up but I need to keep it up. I'm really good at starting diets not so good at sticking to them.

PhoenixReincarnated · 13/09/2021 08:04

Morning all 😁

Nuffaluff sorry to hear that you're ill with covid. A colleague of mine has had it and has lost her sense of taste and smell. I had covid a few weeks ago but I still have mine.

Well, I weighed in this morning and I'm 11st 13.5lb 😁😁 down from 12st 1.9lb so a loss of 2.4lb. Really pleased with that and I'm now under 12st 😁

PhoenixReincarnated · 13/09/2021 08:07

Well done @Lockdownbear 😁🍾 That's a great start. Stay on this thread and we'll support you to continue to lose 🙂

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 13/09/2021 08:15

I'm 18 stone 2 this morning, so down 5lbs. I swear I can actually feel it! Though partly I think it's that I'm much less bloated and uncomfortable from eating less, and fewer carbs. I feel great - like I could actually keep this going. Long may it last Grin

MrsSoft · 13/09/2021 08:17

Well done Phoenix and Lockdown. I am really pleased for you.

Utterly that is great news, well done. I agree, long may it continue.

Thanks, as I say it's first week so lots of water but it's a good start.

Lockdownbear · 13/09/2021 09:03

@UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername 5lb is amazing. I also feel less bloated but thought I was imaging things.

PhoenixReincarnated · 13/09/2021 10:17

Well done @UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername 😁🍾👏

This is my third weigh in but I too felt considerably less bloated after my first week.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 13/09/2021 10:35

This is such a fab idea! I lost some weight a few months ago (about 8lbs) and was down to 11stone 1lbs but the summer holidays just killed me and I'm now 11stone6lbs. During the week I'll be walking roughly 10,000 steps a day on the school run alone so really I just need to control what I eat or drink a whole lot better. I comfort eat and my water intake is awful!

LSOTW · 13/09/2021 11:34

I'd love to join you! Starting weight 13 stone 1lb , height 5'6. and just totally lacking any motivation - 1lb a week instead of my completely unachievable usual starting goal of 5 pounds a week is the way to go for me I think !

MrsSoft · 13/09/2021 11:54

@LSOTW my problem is that I set unrealistic goals and like you expect to lose at least 5lbs per week. Like that's ever going to happen 😁

I don't feel threatened committing to 1lbs per week. A stone by Christmas would make such a difference.

I had a mini panic the other day when I went to Tesco and they had all the Christmas tubs of sweets in stock and I just knew I had to make a start losing weight. Otherwise I would be stuffing Christmas sweets from now until New Years.

Just been on a longish doggo walk.

I rejoined slimming world last thurs. Im 5ft 4 and 12 stone 5. Heaviest ive ever been. Really want down to under 10 stone. I carry most of my weight on my chest and belly. Would live to be able to buy bras that arent super reinforced!!

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 13/09/2021 12:38

Ok, weighing in at 12 stone 10. Uncomfortable for me. I need to shift a stone or two. Would like to do a stone by 1st December

elbo7 · 13/09/2021 13:04

I'd like to join please, I love the idea of a stone off by Christmas! I'm almost 2 stone over my ideal weight and I carry a lot of the excess on my stomach and bum...

I just weighed myself and I'm at the heaviest I've ever been (not pregnant) at 11stone 2lbs.

I've reopened my fitness pal and am aiming also for 10,000 steps and 1200 calories per day, Most days I can achieve the walking on the school run and I get additional calories from the steps, so hoping it is achievable!

Good luck everyone!

Mum5net · 13/09/2021 16:51

Weighed in at 65.5kg today. My 60th birthday is at Xmas so I want to be 60 kg at 60. I have a major varicose vein issue at my left knee so I haven’t any choice in the matter. Lose a stone or lose mobility. I am stealing ideas and tips from everyone.

Heathcliff27 · 13/09/2021 18:22

Evening everyone, first day for me and it's gone ok. Took fruit to work to snack on and I was really busy today which made it easier not to think about biscuits Grin
Had salad for lunch and a chicken wrap with salad and cous cous for dinner. Away out for a walk now. I really need to up my water intake though.

Lexie365 · 13/09/2021 18:51

11st 9 and a half pounds today so half a pound down in the last 2 days which is great obviously but 11st 9lbs will put me in the healthy bmi category so kinda bummed with the half a pound over lol I'm doing 4:3 so I always (well mostly) lose weight after a fast day, tomorrow is a fast day so hopefully by Wednesday I will be 11st 9lbs

Lockdownbear · 13/09/2021 20:51

I was off today manged a walk this morning so got 10,000 steps. Managed to avoid buying too much junk at the shops.
My only junk for today has been an empire biscuit just after dinner.

Loose a stone….loose a stone. It never really works though does it? Or is this the first time your trying?

It’s the mentality, don’t bother trying to loose a stone, that’s a up hill battle that most don’t achieve. If it hasn’t worked lots of times, why don’t you try to loose inches instead of weight? That way you actually get to eat a lot more too!

One day cardio, 3 days lifting heavy weights, it will make you hungry and you will and SHOULD eat more, anything you like as long as it’s protein, fruit or vegetable.

With weights the body will change quicker and you loose inches- don’t bother weighing yourself, muscles weighs more than fat.

I’m heavier now in weight but down to a size 8, my trousers kept falling down and I’ve had to roll them up at the waist until I can go shopping (I hate shopping!)

Maybe trying something new or different will help this time if you haven’t managed it a lot of times before.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 13/09/2021 22:24

I love the sticker chart idea @Lexie365 Grin might rope in the DC to help motivate me, see if they're interested in earning some stars of their own!

@Nuffaluff I was ill last year before Covid testing started, and before the loss of smell and taste was flagged up as a symptom - I was unlucky and lost mine for months. Even now some things still taste different, it's really odd! although clearly it hasn't stopped me scoffing chocolate

17K steps for me today including a short weights workout, and reasonably sensible eating. Now to stay away from the Nutella until tomorrow and spend the rest of the evening polishing my halo Halo

NothingIsWrong · 13/09/2021 22:35

I'm going for a sort of hybrid plan. Reducing calories and sticking to as much protein and veg as possible. The odd slimfast shake but not doing that exclusively. My job and general lifestyle needs flexibility so a DIY approach it is!

A year ago I ran Run To The Sea in just over 7 hours, which was 50km. I ran the first 30 non stop and then walk run for the last 20. I have lost so much fitness and put on so much weight I doubt I could run 5km now. Am going for a run on Thursday with a colleague at lunch. Time to get that fitness back.

Keladrythesaviour · 13/09/2021 22:55

Ooh you saved me making a thread.
I'm hoping for a stone and half by Christmas.
Starting weight: 11st 11lbs 5'6" (31)
I was always the skinny kid growing up and seem to have hit a wall as of 28 and just keep putting on pound after pound! I lost a stone last year, just by calorie counting...and then out it back on again with the stress of lockdown etc. Definite comfort eating going on. Then out of lockdown celebration eating... Blush
I'm using mfp again, it worked well last time so long as I'm honest with it and myself.
Lost 2lbs in the first day (started yesterday) which I'm guessing is water weight/bloating. I did the same last time (lost 4lbs in the first week then and then maintained a 1/2lb weight loss most weeks).

Current weight: 11st 9lbs
Target weight: 10ish stone.

SarahOsborne · 13/09/2021 23:51
