@ChinChilly very relatable. I can never seem to get back into the weight bracket I was 5 or 10 years ago, despite how much I try. If I can get back to

ChinChilly · 09/08/2021 11:38

@thislittlebird nope nor me, 10 years ago i was always around 8.6-8.12 now I'm 10.9 and never seem to be able to get below 10 stone. I can also lose a few pounds just by moving the scales to the other side of the room 🤣 I'll have a look at the nhs app because I think measurements are sometimes more accurate than the scales.

Kat668 · 09/08/2021 11:46

I prefer measurements to weight but my fitness pal asks for weight so I'm going to weigh once a week I think. Lost 3/4 of a pound so far 😅 still its a start!

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 11:57

@Kat668 great start!

@ChinChilly it's so frustrating. I was the same, seem to have gained about a stone per decade roughly. I do not want to continue on that trajectory. But being short, I do find being in the 10s just does not suit me. I look too big for my frame and height, it's not flattering. I got back into the 9s for my wedding, I had a personal trainer for 8 -10 weeks, I would do that again but the privatre IVF has put the kybosh on that.

I'm going to measure my waist today and log it.

Juno231 · 09/08/2021 12:13

@ChinChilly @thislittlebird I'm the same. Started uni at 55kg, was 58kg by the end of it and thought I was fat lol. Then my first adult job had me go up to 63kg, second one to 70. Nowadays I'm at 73-74kg. I've not seen my weight start with a 6 since 2018 and that was only brief. Properly in the 60s was 2013 I reckon - I've struggled massively since then and it keeps coming back to/settling at 73. Sigh.

@Kat668 woop it's a hell of a lot better than gaining and even better than maintaining so that's good!

Kay00 · 09/08/2021 12:13

@orangejuicer I think that's a good approach, I find the cliff edge approach too difficult!

I always forget to weigh myself so it happens every few weeks.

@ChinChilly Hmm, maybe I did a few more steps yesterday than I imagined! I probably only do 1/2 that much on a normal day though.

Today I'll be walking to the post office after lunch to cash my neighbour's pension (a job I have been doing since the start of the 1st lockdown) which is a 40 min walk all round, then taking the dogs for a 45 min walk after work Smile.

Kay00 · 09/08/2021 12:21

When I was about 16 years old I was a size 18, which was my largest. I out on a lot of weight in my later teens due to stress/studying and my mum had a little more cash to give me... so I used it to buy doughnuts every day Grin Oops!

One day I looked in the mirror and realised how big I had become, so I cut out all the doughnuts and went on a low fat diet... nor more than 10g of fat per day. It honestly worked better for me than calorie counting ever has... but I also did A LOT of exercise and and was eating stupidly small meals. But I went from size 18 to size 8 in less than a year (lost most of it in 6 months).

I certainly don't think it was a healthy way to loose weight so I'm not advocating it!!

Since then I have been size 10/8 pretty much most of my adult life, but I put on weight really easily and I really have to watch what I eat.

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 12:41

@kay00 Wow, 18 to 8 in a six months to a year is pretty crazy. Good work that you kept it off though.

The lister doc mentioned weight to me when telling me I had PCOS. he said you'll probably have noticed it? But I weighed 8 stone odd as a teen. I was never skinny, always had sizeable thighs and calves (as do my mum and sisters) for a small person but weight was not really an issue, although try telling that to 18 year old me, she was an idiot. It's really only been an issue since I hit my 30s and it started to creep on and up.

@Juno231 I remember weighing something like 53kg in 2011 when I got weighed before I had a fibroadenoma removed. 10 years and 10kg later........ Hmm

bez91 · 09/08/2021 13:01

@Juno231 that is true, never thought of it that way! Might explain why I loose and gain the same 1kg every week!

I downloaded the nhs a few weeks ago @thislittlebird I have fallen out with it a bit as I missed measuring a week and now it won't seem to let me add in new measurements 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm going to see if there are any other apps

Wow @Kay00 18 to 8 in a year is phenomenal no matter how you achieved it

Booked a gym session for 2pm as it's my day off, I feel pretty horrendous so might just be weights rather than cardio.

ChinChilly · 09/08/2021 13:51

@Kay00 the doughnuts everyday made me giggle.

Walked the doggy this morning, then did a little booty and leg workout at home and have just been a done 45 mins cardio in the gym...now i want to go to bed and not work for the rest of the afternoone

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 14:16

I had one more protein bagel left. Decided to have it with cheese and tomato. Woo, 55g of decent cheddar sure adds up fast. Around 210 cals in that cheddar! Should have done thinner slices.

Kat668 · 09/08/2021 15:08

Thanks guys :) definitely better than a gain! Urgh I feel you all so much, I was a 12 when I was at uni and felt so big and hated how I looked, now look back at photos and am like damn I wish I looked like that again!

Juno231 · 09/08/2021 15:21

@thislittlebird I use a cheese slicer which helps! Every scando home has them :)

@ChinChilly fantastic work! I've just picked which les mills body attack class I want to do tonight - question remains whether I'll actually do it!

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 15:29

@Juno231 I just need a reminder that it’s fatty af lol. Thinner slices in future. To my credit, I’m pretty good at eating cheese only once in a while now.

I really should do some walking or exercise today. Need to convince myself to do it after work.

Kay00 · 09/08/2021 16:53

Hmm... I probably eat to much cheese. I had 3 x cheese and crackers for lunch , and they were decent slabs of cheese Grin. I had it with salad (including peppers, pickles, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes and olives etc) and cold meats. So I think a good amount of protein to balance out my sweet bits.

I have to say... I think the Metformin has slightly curbed by appetite. I would normally have eaten 2 or 3 snacks by now, but I think I could leave it until tea (left over tagine from last night).

I up my dose to 2 x 500mg tablets tomorrow... fingers crossed I don't get any rubbish symptoms!

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 23:02

I had a bad day in the end 😔. Kept snacking on nuts and also had some Haagen Dazs so I’m way over on calories. Need to try again tomorrow, and I didn’t even exercise. What a dick.

Kay00 · 10/08/2021 08:20

@thislittlebird Sad oh no... don't beat yourself up! Its impossible to do everything perfectly right every day, you're only human after all (and Haagen Dazs is incredible). Just focus on doing some exercise today as that will help lift your mood (and burn off some of that delicious ice cream).

Kay00 · 10/08/2021 15:53

I have been feeling quite low today about TTC. I just feel like I have tried so hard over the past 14.5 months and I feel like a BFP is just as far away as it ever was.

SO I treated myself to... a banana, with a spoon of walnut butter a spoon of Nutella... it was super tasty and hopefully not too sugary/balanced out with protein and fibre!

@thislittlebird @Kay00 I always say if it was worth the calories then it's ok 😉

Haven't made it to the gym today but my food has been good and I'm currently on 16k steps so I'll take that

thislittlebird · 10/08/2021 18:08

Hi @feliznavidad2!

@Kay00 that’s a pretty healthy snack, you did well.

So far today I have done the attached steps because I went into work. I still need to go for a run, think I’m going to do it while I’m in a good mood. Got ivf funding confirmation today and I’m in a good mood!

@ChinChilly 16k steps is great, I might hit that if I go for my run. Just having a tea, some fruit and resting the feet before I venture out again.

thislittlebird · 10/08/2021 18:28

@Kay00 I think that's natural. I just can't imagine it working after two years of sadness and disappointment. You aren't alone, it's a hard and long journey.

Juno231 · 10/08/2021 20:38

@thislittlebird oh that's brilliant! I'm glad you got the funding through already. Makes me wonder what your end of Aug appointment is about then. Approach?

@kay00 I'm sorry but just remember these are potentially the first few months where you've actually had a shot. Once you start clomid I'm sure it'll happen in no time ❤️

@feliznavidad2

Today was a bad day, pretty sure I'm over maintenance - perhaps coming in at 2k cals? Didn't even exercise today (although I did do body attack last night!) but did manage 10k steps at least. Was still down 0.7kg from yesterday's bloat 🤣

thislittlebird · 10/08/2021 20:52

@Juno231 your Tuesday sounds like my Monday.

I’m guessing so? They only said bring ID and there was a note about writing to us with further instructions. I really am grateful to Alison Taylor at the Lister in particular who wrote a very in depth letter about our case and supported us in our belief we were not “unexplained”. And to the new GP who is a bit of a legend.

I did my steps and then I did my run! My best day so far. Sun + good news is a motivating combo. Tomorrow I’m going to aim to do strength exercises.

My food was a bit different today. Had a late start because I was going into work for training so I made myself a brunch! Had cinnamon French toast from one of the Joe Wicks books, but didn’t have banana or berries so I had it with canned pears lol. And then I had leftover Thai red curry for dinner and a few snacks during the training that made up lunch. A good day overall.

@Kay00 what Juno says is a good point. You and so many of us haven’t really even had a chance so far. You’re getting there!

Thanks for your kind words ladies. I have been on a real downer all afternoon. I'm not sure what's come over me, I'm normally very upbeat and happy, but it feels as though a dark cloud has decended on me today... I wonder if it has been caused by a big drop on progesterone or something? Either way I hope its gone by the morning x
