@Juno231 whenever I see nice dishes like that chorizo one, I really wish my husband wasn’t pescy 😔. I’m making myself some brown rice with tuna, ginger, chilli, garlic, soy, and spring onions tonight. He doesn’t like tuna either, he’s at work.

I’m quite hungry today, I blame my medicated ovaries. I’m on litre number 2 of water, and just made myself a coconut and almond milk coffee.

IsabelHerna · 10/09/2021 07:52

@Juno231 I don't know I really hope it's just bloating and it's going to go easily and quickly. Today I am going to make a lentil salad for lunch and dinner. How about you?

@thislittlebird How are you today? What is your plan?

Juno231 · 10/09/2021 10:41

@thislittlebird so he's pescatarian but doesn't like tuna? difficult man! well done on sticking with the water. I've having around 3 litres per day atm and do feel better for it.

@isabelherna I ended up having half a pouch of coconut rice (210cal), half a pan fried chicken breast and mango and avocado salsa for dinner. There was lots more to have but OH wasn't hungry so that helped me not reach for seconds either. I had a couple of glasses of wine to compensate instead lol.

Tonight's dinner is that cod/chorizo thing - which means the persian lentils are for tomorrow. I'll add the two leftover bits of chicken to it though just to satisfy OH's need for meat and not waste leftovers.

Only got to 5k steps yesterday but I'll make up for it tomorrow! Going to an RHS garden of 240 acres so there will be lots of steppage

Kay00 · 10/09/2021 13:51

Hi ladies!

@IsabelHerna hopefully just bloating and it drops off as quickly as it was gained.

@Juno231 yes, I have bought my sis in law a gym membership as a gift, to help her continue her weight training and to keep her in Exeter (and away from her now Ex), and because this membership includes 4 x guest passes a month, for me to go along with her - eek! I will go with her tomorrow morning... eek! Wish me luck!!

I'm not sure if its my Metformin or something else, but my tummy has been pretty dicky the last few days :/ Today I have eaten:

  • Low sugar Museli
  • 3 x chocolate covered brazil nuts
  • 1 x plum
  • 2 x cuppa noodle soup things Grin lol. Not very healthy but I was craving salt.

We will make a pastry-less quiche for tea; broccoli and blue cheese. I might need to make those Persian lentils at some point; they look right up my street!

Giraffe971 · 10/09/2021 15:32

Hope you don't mind me joining. I've got an IVF cycle starting in a month and have been on a low carb, no sugar diet 😒 for a bit over month now and its only bloody working. Ive got pcos and have struggled with my weight for years. I managed to get down to 10 stone at the start of this year.
I've gone down from 10stone to 8st 10 in a little over a month which is crazy. The weight loss has massively slowed which is fine as I've already hit my original goal weight but I'm sticking to it as I think it's good for me. But I miss cake and cookies and chips so bad.

Juno231 · 10/09/2021 16:10

@Giraffe971 christ that's brilliant work!! I lost a stone on the keto diet in one month ahead of my wedding but have never been able to convince myself to give it another go. Very effective but I was so miserable, I was thinking about croissants pretty much non stop lol. Exciting news about your IVF though! What's the plan weight wise until then - maintenance?

I'm only on 6.4k steps atm so will head out for a 1h walk after work to get that steppage up. I overate on bread at lunch so I badly need to compensate!

@Kay00 oh enjoy tomorrow! I love lifting weights, I'm just too much of a chicken to do it half the time as I never know what to do next and hate the thought of figuring it out in a busy gym with men staring at me.

Giraffe971 · 10/09/2021 17:26

@Juno231 I am going to try to just stick with it until I've finished this IVF cycle. I'm concerned that if I start reintroducing stuff I'll fall of the wagon. The weight loss was really rapid but has slowed a lot so I'm not sure if I'll lose much more. I'm eating quite a lot and I feel healthy but I miss enjoying food and I know I couldn't do it for more thab than few months.

Enjoy your walk. I've been trying to do 5 miles a day and was thinking I'd have a nice walk in the sun this evening but now is thundering 😔

Juno231 · 10/09/2021 18:17

@Giraffe971 yes that was a good perk of it honestly - the not feeling hungry part! Do you have a DP? How are you finding sticking to low carb with them around, are they doing it too? Cause that's something I struggle with - OH would claim he'd die without them lol.

Been on my walk and am at 15.5k so far :) 2 litres of water in as well.

thislittlebird · 10/09/2021 19:37

🚨 I am off the wagon 🚨

Gonna need some help to get back on it over the weekend. I also can’t find my Fitbit in the house (the house is upside down right now because we’re decorating and assembling new furniture for the spare room) and I really need to find that.

Food today was really weird but i was in central London walking and commuting for half a day so I’m going to let myself off since I have done 10k steps according to my phone. Pret lunch and then I bought a cottage pie for dinner from Sainsbury’s because the fussy pescy is at work 👀. I may also have purchased and consumed a large bag of popchips and a low alcohol beer. I also bought a st Clements cheesecake slice or two for us at the weekend. We’re going for a long ass massage together tomorrow (hot stones and Indian head massage 💆‍♀️) because we definitely deserve it after ttc for so long, but I’m thinking we can have dinner out post massage and then the cheesecake for dessert when we get home. ANYWAY. After that I need to get back on it.

I am, all being well, borrowing my sister’s dog on Sunday as a dog trial for us and learning to ride an e scooter. I’ll be taking the dog on a long walk in the woods and my husband is going to teach me to use the e scooter so I can get to these damn appointments faster. He has it for his early commutes but sometimes he doesn’t need it or use it and leaves it at home. We also have a bike in the shed, I should get that out sometimes to speed up these fertility clinic journeys. Took me half a day today to do the clinic appointments + commuting and walking.

@Giraffe971 welcome! That’s some Impressive weight loss. I wish I could do it, I’m so bad with dieting.

@Juno231 i wish my dh would get with the programme more. He’s good at dieting but he won’t do exercise and stuff, it’s so annoying. He used to, but plantar fasciitis happened. I said to him could we go swimming next week maybe one morning.

IsabelHerna · 11/09/2021 18:07

@Kay00 fingers crossed it's just that... Is there something that you could snack on when having those cravings?

@Juno231 it seems like you're doing very well! It's amazing that your dh is so supportive and helps you follow your schedule. How did you enjoy the walk?

@Giraffe971 welcome dear! Congratulations! Give the rest of us some courage, I know I need it often.

@thislittlebird you deserve a night off come on! Okay, indeed you had fun meals, but that's important too! Now, try to focus on the weekend and get back in track. How was Saturday so far?

Today I had my little tyrant helper (niece) to motivate my weight loss and exercise! Apparently, my sis told her that I need to lose some weight before I can make a cousin for her, so now she took it personally! We walked, we biked, we even exercised in the park following a video on youtube... While taking her home, I asked her if she wanted ice cream (okay i wanted it, and I just needed an excuse) she said she preferred a little cousin. Yes people my 7yo niece is more mature than her 39yo aunt!

feliznavidad2 · 13/09/2021 09:51

So ladies, I need to get on with this.
This is me drawing a line.

Not sure whether to try and do 16/8 with some fairly low carb thrown in or stick to MFP/nutracheck?

Got about 3 stone to lose. Lost more than that previously but was pre-DS and my head was so very in the game (on a combination of SW/general healthier eating) and lots of exercise.

Any suggestions? Many thanks in anticipation.

Juno231 · 13/09/2021 09:52

@IsabelHerna loved the walk and managed to get a lot of steps in this weekend as well - including a long visit to an RHS garden on saturday which was fab. I love that your niece beasted you this weekend! Fun exercise is the best way - I hope you felt good afterwards.

@thislittlebird not gonna lie - the food you listed didn't sound too bad at all! I imagine it was maintenance rather than cutting but at least you weren't gorging Grin

I'm still hovering around the 73kg mark, I've basically made no progress in a month lol. Got my IVF appointment through though so hopefully that will give me an inspiration boost? Bought some alcohol free beers to cut out my wine consumption, am back on the supplements for good egg maintenance and am determined to lower my carbs this week.

@Kay00 how was the gym?

IsabelHerna · 14/09/2021 09:11

@feliznavidad2 The 16/8 is helping me so far, I am doing it for almost 2 weeks now, and I just started seeing some of the bloating to leave. I am being careful with carbs like you said, mostly I am trying to increase my greens, so I eat lots and lots of salads!

@Juno231 Aw that's so nice you had fun and got your steps too! As for my niece, seriously, she has a future as a personal trainer, she is relentless!

Yesterday I had an omelet for lunch and a salad for dinner, and today I plan to have salad for lunch and chicken with salad for dinner. Tomorrow I am going to weigh myself, and I hope I see some results because...come on!

How are you ladies going on?

Giraffe971 · 15/09/2021 17:38

I ended up having a day off my low sugar/low carb diet on Monday to enjoy pizza and cake for my friends birthday. It was great but I felt proper sick after. My weight went up 5lbs the next morning but is back down again now. But I now keep thinking maybe I could have more days off but I know it's a slippery slope so I'm trying to hold out until I've completed this cycle of ivf.

I've always struggled with calorie counting, it's too much effort for me and I used to forgot to do it.

I unintentionally do 18:6 fasting and it works well for me. I have always found if I eat breakfast I graze all morning. Instead I have a big lunch and dinner with a snack in between. To try to be as healthy as possible for ivf ive cut out all processed sugar and carbs which had made a massive difference to my weight. I've found fasting and low carb good together because by lunch I'm actually hungry so whatever healthy food I make seems appealing 😋

IsabelHerna · 17/09/2021 14:27

@Giraffe971 How can you cope 18 6??? I am struggling with 16 8.. One hour before I am allowed to eat in the morning, I am drooling! And of course, instead of pacing myself, I overeat it. But I am going to follow your advice about preparing healthy (but not really my favourite) meals for lunch because I am so hungry I will eat anything!

I started seeing some results, so I am going to keep going!

Also, I think this thread helps me and keeps me motivated, so thank you ladies! Blush

Giraffe971 · 18/09/2021 11:26

@IsabelHerna I'm glad you're seeing results. I find it was easier once I knew it was working! I slowly moved towards having a smaller window but it was mostly my work schedule that dictated it. One the weekend I'm still only eat two meals but I'm not bothered about when.

I try to pre make my lunch if I can which helps with portion sizes. Also I'm unlikely to overeat if I made something leafy.

I've found the longer I do it the easier it gets. I mostly only start to notice that in hungry just before I have lunch.

thislittlebird · 18/09/2021 12:29

I need to get back into it all. I did two strength workouts this week, only for about 30 minutes. Need to do another one or a walk today. My Fitbit remains lost, but I’m considering buying a folding bike and doing some cycling either side of my train journey. Returning to the office really sucks.

Food hasn’t been great. I’ve been quite hungry, not sure if that’s the progesterone I’m on.

IsabelHerna · 19/09/2021 13:36

Hi ladies!

@Giraffe971 I prepare my lunches beforehand too but my mistake is that I do not split it into portions, so I will def do that from now on.. and I will prepare my meals when I am not hungry so I make small portions.

@thislittlebird sounds like you're doing well with exercise! I will follow your example this week!

Seeing that I get some results, makes me follow the diet more strictly... How are all of you going on?

Juno231 · 20/09/2021 10:05

Morning ladies! Yet another Monday where I have no weight loss to report lol. It's starting to freak me out a bit how bad I am at this weight loss malarkey.

Today's food:
Two chia seed ryvita with thin slices of cheddar and gherkin for breakfast
Vegetable soup for lunch
Pork stew and rice for dinner
Should all be around 1300 cals once I include my coffees/teas for the day.

Will get my 10k steps in today as well. My legs hurt so much though from a gruelling 45 min HIIT class with weights on Friday. Friday! I could barely move all weekend, even turning over in bed at night was a no go. Might do some press ups and core exercises today as that's bound to hurt the least?

IsabelHerna · 21/09/2021 09:57

Morning ladies! I started personal training sessions, the first was a bit intense but I have to pull through. The PP said we have to be a bit more intense now before I start my meds for my 1st round.

@Juno231 I am sorry that you don't see any results yet, hopefully, the press ups and core will help out. Have you checked your water intake?

Juno231 · 22/09/2021 10:32

@IsabelHerna tbh it makes sense as half the time I end up at maintenance calories! Well done for starting with the personal trainer - I hope you get to enjoy it!

Weighed myself today and was at 72.6kg so I'm down 2.9kg from my starting weight. OH is out tonight so I can eat healthy stuff in peace :)

Two ryvita for breakfast again + a corn cake (as opposed to rice cake)
Need to have a light lunch as I have leftover spag bol for dinner, but not sure what that will be yet. Maybe I could have the spag bol for lunch and have a light dinner instead so I don't go to bed with a belly of carbs?

Got a 90 min class of kung fu after work as well and should get my 10k steps in at a minimum.

Aiming to drink 2.5 litres of water as well. 3 is a struggle.

IsabelHerna · 22/09/2021 11:29

@Juno231 WOW you're doing great come on! I wish I was 72kg that's all I've dreamed of 😅

Today I weighed myself too, stayed the same! Come on! I thought I would see some results, but nothing yet. Today I will have an omelette for lunch and salad for dinner, but yesterday I ate a bar of chocolate. Yep ladies, the whole bar... Today I will be better.

thislittlebird · 22/09/2021 12:06

@Juno231 that’s great, but it is putting me to shame lmao. I miss spag bol. We can’t have it the proper way because he doesn’t eat meat.

@IsabelHerna nice to have a PT, I had one before my wedding and I would have one again now if not for the potential IVF expense. It works really well for me because I struggle with motivation and discipline.

I really want to do low calorie but I’m so bad at it. This morning I had a croissant with Nutella, that’s not low calorie! I have very much fallen off the wagon.

IsabelHerna · 24/09/2021 09:12

@thislittlebird That's why we are here to motivate each other! I see this thread like a journal as if I had a nutritionist to keep me in line -can't afford nutritionist + PT + IVF -. How have you been the past few days?

So, let's get motivated ladies! Today I woke up very energized and motivated which is very rare for me.
