Well done ladies! Agreed @MissC07 that your intake seemed very low! I'd be binging at the end of the day with that so I commend you on your discipline.

So I only got to 7k steps yesterday as the neighbours do got in the way. Their celebratory drinks turned into a tapas dinner so I never made my pork steaks in the end. Although not what I planned, I reckon my dinner wasn't too bad anyway as most of my plate was just veg (mushrooms, roasted peppers, tomato salad). I did also have a small portion of chips, one greek cheese puff thing, 2 king prawns and three slices of sausage. And three glasses of champagne!

The rest of the day I had:
3 white coffees
3 ryvita with cream cheese and cherry tomatoes for lunch (I had lots of meetings and crammed in a walk so needed something quick)
2 celery stalks for snacks
Caved in at 4 pm and had some charcoal crackers with thinly sliced cheddar

Overall okay calorie wise but poor nutritionally. Lots of carbs and dairy and far too little protein!

I feel a bit more in control today though so hopefully it will be a better one!

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 09:36

@kay00 I love the neighbours btw but OH prefers not to make friends lol so I was worried he'd find the whole evening really cringe. It was alright in the end!

MissC07 · 04/08/2021 10:39

A tip my acupuncturist gave me which might be complete BS but it's helping me at the moment..... start your day with a cup of boiled water (obviously wait until it's cooled down slightly before drinking it). Apparently it wakes up your digestive system nice and slowly rather than the shock of it having food straight away. That's all I've had so far today - I've got a crazy week with induction at my new work so not having as much time to eat as I used to it my last job! I just need to try and up the steps/exercise but have zero motivation!!!

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 11:28

@MissC07 oh new job already! Best of luck! How's the vibe so far?

I don't really ever eat breakfast so my digestive system gets woken up with coffee I'm afraid!

Got soup for lunch and OH has requested pasta vongole for dinner (I do prawns instead of trying to source clams) so should be okay calorie wise but will try and fit some exercise in too!

MissC07 · 04/08/2021 12:38

@Juno231 thank you!! Everybody is so lovely so far, it's a whole world away from my shit show of a last job. Although I'm suffering from zoom fatigue as have joined remotely!! Did you ever decide on what to do about your job?

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 13:18

@MissC07 I'm working my notice period! Starting my new job 4th Oct (although I have yet to find out if I passed all the security checks!). So holding of TTC atm until I found out what the mat leave deal is at the new place. I have a feeling it kicks in immediately (26 weeks!) and that there isn't a probation period.

Kay00 · 04/08/2021 13:36

Hi ladies!

I have been much better this morning... 1/2 banana + Greek yogurt for breakfast. And a big salad with lots of fruit and veg + Pickles and Pastrami for lunch.

Unfortunately my stomach is painful and bloating up as we speak.

This is the 3rd day in a row this has happened (happened 2 nights ago after I made a creamy chicken and tarragon soup). And I wonder/worry if this is the Metformin finally giving me some symptoms.

Damn!!

Kay00 · 04/08/2021 13:40

@Juno231 My company (big financial org based in London) has a lot of background checks, and they can take a little longer if you were born abroad, so hopefully there will be no issues for you, just a little further delay.

@MissC07 Congrats on the new job!!

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 14:55

@kay00 yup I'm used to this as it happens with every job move, but I also know how black and white they can be so am terrified something minor will crop up. I've been grilled in the past about my whereabouts in Summer 2011, slight title differences between my CV/contracts and on the nature of my departure from a previous job - where HR actually advised my hiring manager to withdraw the offer even though it was all kosher!

Is dairy the common denominator those two days? Greek yogurt and creamy sauce? Or potentially you're still just suffering from yesterday's carbs? Hopefully it passes but if not def ask for extended release metformin next time :)

Kay00 · 04/08/2021 15:41

I'm not sure yet. It seems to have happened after eating cream in the soup, and after ice-cream/cream in my desert last night, and after lunch today... which was pretty good... but I did have a little bit of a cheese and chive dip... so maybe it was that?

I might keep a food diary again just so I know what's happening. I'm meant to be going for food with my girl friends tomorrow, and now I'm a little worried haha!

MIW01 · 04/08/2021 16:12

Hello, I hope you don't mind my joining. This thread was recommended to me via another thread. I'm
35
TTC #1 nearly 3 years
No BFP
IVF due to start Friday 6th August 2021
AMH 3.9
AFC 7 - headed for early menopause!
Type 2 Diabetes (definitely no PCOS) managed with Metformin & Insulin
ME/CFS
BMI 23
Height- 5"2
Weight 59.5 kg
Waist 32"

So I'm a healthy BMI apple shaped T2Diabetic (diagnosed in Feb 2020). Followed a whole food, low carb approach for years so Diabetes is a mystery and I am concerned about impact this will have on things. Only way to lose weight for me is to go to bed hungry. I'm managing to do this atm as lost my job on 13th July so doesn't matter if I don't sleep due to hunger. I know this isn't sustainable but main focus atm is managing blood sugar and being as healthy as possible for pregnancy. I was a fat kid, always held weight on my tummy, even with BMI of 17 still apple shaped so at a loss what to do about it. Tried all types of elimination and no difference. Very angry I ended up with Diabetes as ate a diet designed to prevent it for years to manage the ME! I currently intermittent fast 5 days per week eating within a 4 hour window on 3 days and in a 1 hour window on 2 days. ME means exercise is very limited, I am active and walk the dogs and do some yoga every day but that is all I can manage to do atm. I haven't found being active makes any difference to blood sugar. Eating more vegetables doesn't fill me up or reduce my blood sugar. I start my day with pint of water (warm or cold) I have 2 cups of caffeinated tea per day (eliminating it is not a long-term solution for me, the taste of decaff is disgusting) I will stop this when I start IVF for the duration of the treatment. I am used to carb counting, low GI, high protein etc. And supplement myself up to the eyeballs!

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 16:39

@MIW01 welcome! I hadn't realised you have CFS! That does make things tricky. I'd be bitter about the Type 2 diabetes after a life of healthy eating as well... Reckon it's correlated to being apple shaped? Do you have a particular goal atm?

MIW01 · 04/08/2021 17:36

Thanks @Juno231 I can't think of any other reason other than the apple body shape that would cause me to develop it so young. It's frustrating because it's not something I can change. I was born this way and even with a BMI as low as 17 I'm still the same shape. My waist is proportional to my bust (42") but not my hips (37") because my pelvis is so narrow! Always been that way, I remember I used to get ridiculed at PE at school for it!

ChinChilly · 04/08/2021 18:00

Funnily enough I was talking about body shapes with a friend the other day, how come men just get beer bellys but women's shapes really vary. I'd say I'm an hour glass shape, my glass is just abit wide at the moment 🤣
Fell into a box of chocolates at work today, never mind salad for tea...balance is key an all that

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/08/2021 18:31

Welcome @MIW01! I've been okay with food today but lots of white coffee... now off an after work walk

Hi all, I’d like to join please!

I have about 8 weeks roughly until we start ivf so need to do as much as I can to get back into my healthy bmi before then.

I’m 5’2 and weigh 64kg or 10st 2lbs right now. BMI is 26.1, would like to get to 25 by the start of ivf ideally, which would be about 3kg or 7lbs. Feels not an impossible amount to lose but it will be tough, I don’t lose weight easily. Would love to lose more because I’m quite short but need to be realistic Confused.

I’ve not had a good start today, went for the first run in months and ended up with a headache and feeling sick so ended up going to bed and then eating carbs. Very annoying. Hopefully I’ll feel better next time.

I might have PCO (probably no S), but I’ve only just learned this so it’s all a bit of a mystery still. I’m likely not ovulating regularly and we have MFI too, so it’s nearly been two years of ttc.

thislittlebird · 04/08/2021 18:58

Although before the headache kicked in I did manage 7,654 steps today. Better than nothing.

Kay00 · 04/08/2021 22:28

@thislittlebird welcome!! Sounds like you got a decent step count in today despite the headache 😊

@miw01 oh no... im horrified at the idea of going to bed hungry 😖😣😖😣😖 I have PCOS (recently diagnosed) and am embarking on a low carb, low sugar (and after the last couple of days) low fat diet. I'm also on Metformin (1.5 weeks in)!

I dont think I have insulin resistance (it was randomly tested 2 x years ago, and all was fine), and I'm fairly slim but I do have a bit if a belly. In fact even when I was at my slimmest (size 8) I still had a belly... I remember a colleague telling me I had the belly of a woman who had had kids, but I was 20 and had had none 😑😑😑. Bitch 😂.

Evening meal: salad leaves, 1/2 avocado and homemade onion and mushroom quiche (without the pastry of course). Dark chocolate and a decaff tea for supper. Not additional bloating... phew!

MissC07 · 04/08/2021 22:45

@Juno231 I hope you hear about mat leave soon that's amazing if it is what you think it is though.

@Kay00 thank you! I hope your stomach has got better as the day has gone on today. And OMG I would've gone mental at that colleague!

@MIW01 @thislittlebird Welcome!!

Haven't got many steps in today as have been on back to back zoom calls! But have eaten;
• protein bagel thin with ham and cheese
• Pear
• 2 salmon fillets and brown rice
No choc or biscuits today which is a small win for me!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/08/2021 23:06

15.5k steps for me today! No actual exercise but walking a lot

OP posts:
MIW01 · 04/08/2021 23:34

Oh no @Kay00 that's a horrible thing for someone to say to you! Though I have had my fair share of horrible comments over the years tbf. It sounds like we may be similar body shapes? I am broad shouldered, big-boobs, very short torso, long slim legs, narrow hips, small bum, slim arms and face. All fat accumulates on my torso and boobs (36E). It socks going to bed feeling hungry but I keep telling myself my body must be lying to me otherwise I wouldn't have all this excess belly fat!

@ChinChilly there are a few men who differ but very rare compared to women. Apparently this shift in body shape for women has only happened fairly recently so I think it's induced by the environment and all the toxins we are exposed to in food and otherwise. Very little we can do but we can only do our best. I'm always hearing how dangerous belly fat is and that its caused by stress I'm not so sure though as I was born with this body shape and it runs in my family!

Kay00 · 05/08/2021 08:21

@MIW01 I'm fairly well proportioned apart from my belly; I have broad shoulders but my bust is a 34C, I think my shape is hourglass, and I have slim arms and legs. If I wear one of those sucky-in things under a dress I can look very slim, but obviously I rarely do that in a post-covid world. I'm all about the loose trousers, hoodies and fluffy socks Grin.

@TheDaydreamBelievers epic step count!

I just had a breakfast of porridge (medium on glycaemic index) with milk + nuts and strawberries.

orangejuicer · 05/08/2021 08:25

Can I join please? Only just found the thread but I'm trying (and failing) to lose weight to TTC #2.

I've just turned 39 so I don't have an awful lot of time left so really need to crack on.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 05/08/2021 11:12

Hey @orangejuicer! Glad you could join.

The reason I thought it may be a good idea to have a TTC TTLW thread is that I know whilst TTC theres certain diets that are a bad idea (eg starvation diets). I've amso decided I need a coffee intervention! Too much caffeine, too much milk

@TheDaydreamBelievers Whenever I am told to cut down on any form I dairy for TTC purposes I pop my fingers in my ears and sing 'lalala' Grin I absolutely couldn't live without it. So I won't.
