@Kay00 I've been a right grump today & I think we are about the same dpo? So could be progesterone related....Almost cried today when i noticed my fave work dress has a hole in it near the armpit 🤣🤣

Juno231 · 11/08/2021 07:12

@kay00 @ChinChilly I hope you both feel better today ❤️

I have a school friend visiting from Sweden this week so am going out for dinner tonight with him. Tapas I think. To compensate I'm really hoping I can rein in my intake during the day. I'll bring my gym kit to work as well to try and exercise at lunch.

MissC07 · 11/08/2021 07:18

@Kay00 @ChinChilly Hope you ladies are feeling better today. I'm also feeling in such a slump the last few days , I bawled my eyes out at father of the bride on Saturday and even the tiniest things set me off 😭

Went in to my new office again yesterday and had some fruit for brek and a vegan paella for lunch (I'm not vegan but it was tasty!) Also found out that as well as having a free gym onsite we also can have free PT sessions!! I really have zero excuse now for doing no exercise!!! I'm supposed to be going on holiday in 2 weeks and I just feel like a whale! I'm so bloated 🐳

thislittlebird · 11/08/2021 08:50

@Juno231 I haven’t had tapas in so long, I miss it.

@ChinChilly free PT sessions sound very exciting.

I think I’m a little tiny bit down in weight since my day of lots of steps yesterday but I also don’t trust my scales. Seem to be saying I’m at the lower end of 10st 2 or even 10st 1 👀.

I’m working from home today, so definitely not going to get so many steps in but I think I might walk to Sainsbury’s at lunchtime for some fruit (need to top up) and do some strength stuff later today.

Kay00 · 11/08/2021 20:45

@thislittlebird yey!! Well done on the weight loss 👏👏👏

@missC07 free PT classes amd a free gym sounds excellent 👌 as does your vegan paella 😋

My OH and I went out for lunch too, i ordered the veggie chilli with rice (my intention was to leave the rice), but the portion of rice was huge and the must have used a tiny ladle to portion out the chilli 😪 it was tasty, but I was starving.

I later snacked on a banana and some nuts before going for a decent 45 min walk with the dogs and a 45 min walk & run with my friend 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Tea tonight was buttered leeks and poached eggs on 1 x thin slice of sourdough 🤗 yum!

bez91 · 11/08/2021 21:00

@Juno231 love tapas - enjoy!

@thislittlebird well done on the weight loss! I always find WFH hardest to get steps in.

@Kay00 sounds like you're smashing the exercise - well done.

Going a bit meh here, not hit my step goal the last 2 days, think I'm coming down with a sinus infection 🤦🏼‍♀️ next at gym Friday. Really need to work on my arms but they seem to be the one area I really struggle to tone up.

thislittlebird · 11/08/2021 21:40

I’ll probably have put it back on tomorrow because today has been less good. Done about 8k steps, walked to Sainsbury’s and back for my fruit, but I’ve not eaten as well as I’d like and didn’t do extra exercise.

I had yogurt, with oats, honey and pears for breakfast, a sweet potato falafel, spinach and hummus wholemeal wrap for lunch...so far so good. Then it went to shit in the evening lol. Had too many salted nuts and raisins, a few snack a jacks and three dark chocolate digestive biscuits 😔. Then I had an apple and a slice of toast.

ChinChilly · 11/08/2021 21:50

@Juno231 hope the tapas was good.

@bez91 eurgh, I struggle with my sinuses, they're so painful when they get infected.

@thislittlebird I don't actually think your food for the day is that bad.

I've managed just over 12k steps, weetabix for breakfast, salad for lunch with a veggie patty thing and couldn't be bothered to cook for dinner so just had greel yoghurt, granola and fruit.

MissC07 · 11/08/2021 22:11

@Kay00 your exercise and food sound good today!! Well done!

@bez91 sorry you're not feeling well! Definitely take the time to rest and recover don't force yourself to the gym on Fri if you aren't up to it.

I've only just finished dinner as got home later than expected catching up with friends. Today I've had some salami and cheese for lunch, and fajitas for dinner! Oh and I was naughty and had a twirl 🙈

thislittlebird · 11/08/2021 22:34

@bez91 @chinchilly I have chronic sinusitis and it’s horrible if it gets out of control, feel that pain. I hate my arms, they’re never toned. When I had my personal trainer pre-wedding I really wanted him to go hard on the arms but he didn’t and it was so annoying. They weren’t too bad on the day, just frustrating because I felt more could have been done.

@ChinChilly the food was ok, I just feel bad about the biscuits and too many salted nuts. I only had the one slice of wholemeal toast and an apple because I was aware I’d gone overboard on the snack.

thislittlebird · 11/08/2021 22:37

Speaking of infections, I’ve had a chronic skin infection since around Oct 2019 (also when we started ttc) and it was diagnosed as papular eczema this year. It’s been better since I saw a good derm and took a ton of meds in March, but it feels like it’s getting worse again. I have a course of antibiotics here, I might need to take them before it gets out of hand. It’s so depressing and I really want it to just go away now, it’s been two years, I’m tired of this constant itchiness. I always had eczema but it was never like this.

Kay00 · 12/08/2021 14:28

@thislittlebird that Eczema sounds horrible Sad my OH suffers with it quite badly all over his body, and its very unpleasant. I have often wondered if his is aggravated by a food group (dairy or chilli or something) but he refuses to test it.

I haven't slept well for the past two nights (dog is poorly, and needs to poop every hour, including through the night) so i'm feeling really rough today Sad. I might drop out of work and have a nap and try to catch up on things tomorrow as i'm getting nothing done anyway.

I had porridge, raspberries and nuts for breakfast and a huge salad with 1.5 pieces of peppered mackerel for lunch. I was really looking forward to eating it, and the fish was really lovely, but now I feel sick. I guess tiredness + Metformin. Blurgh! Grin

bez91 · 12/08/2021 19:28

@thislittlebird I never used to suffer with sinus issues but this last 3 years I've have sinusitis at least 3 times a year. That's frustrating on the skin infection, is the resolution with your GP/dermatologist just to take antiBs, is there no cream they can prescribe? I suffer with adult acne, just on my face. It has got better this last few months but nothing helps, dermatology won't see me because we're TTC and the next step is meds that interfere with that 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Kay00 food for the day sounds good! We had garlic and herb salmon, roasted Mediterranean veg and new potatoes. I need to get back into meal prep for next week as have a few naughty days coming up with wedding anniversary and friends 30th 🥂🍹

thislittlebird · 12/08/2021 20:22

@Kay00 It's very horrible. I hated my eczema before this, but it was manageable. I knew what I was doing with it and if it flared up I could fix it. But now that's all changed and this kind doesn't really respond to treatment well, and gets out of control very fast. I started the antibiotics today but I'll probably need to tell the doctor in case they don't do the trick and I need more stuff.

Is he just not interested? I tried to get my allergies tested but my dermatologist basically said you'd probably have worked out what you were allergic to by now, the tests are very expensive, and the NHS ones cover things you'll be aware of...or something like that. It went nowhere. The timing of it makes me think it's ttc stress that triggered it but I dunno, I just want it to go away.

You should definitely have the day off sick to recover a bit. I'm very distracted by everything ttc/ivf right now and I'm getting very little down. Luckily it's the natural downtime of my job.

@bez91 My sinus issue just started suddenly when I was in my mid-20s and never went away. I have to take a steroid nasal spray daily now. My immune system hates me. Unfortunately this particular type of eczema is hard to treat, so creams only do so much. To get it under control in March I had to have prednisolone for 6 weeks, antibiotics (x 2 kinds) for 8 weeks, steroid shampoo, a steroid injection, various antibiotic and steroid creams, as well as immune modifying creams, and she even gave me an antidepressant/anxiety drug for a month. My doctor isn't keen on letting me have that last one again since we're ttc, but the combination did the trick and I had it under control with one or two creams. And now it's getting worse again and I'm trying to remain calm and tell myself I've got this, I can get on top of it. Confused

Why won't dermatology see you, and what are those next steps? You comment reminded me the antibiotics might interfere with ttc. They messed up my cycles and stopped me ovulating before but that was for two months, one week shouldn't do an awful lot. It's just really bad timing, I do not need it to delay the ivf.

thislittlebird · 12/08/2021 20:25

I don't know what to have for dinner tonight. DH is on lates so I'm eating alone which is not good for my meal habits. I had yogurt and granola for breakfast, and for lunch I had hummus, mini pitta, a slice of cheddar, cucumber and two sweet potato falafels.

I have oven fries in the freezer and I'm being drawn towards them......

On the plus side I did do 10k steps including a run today.

Juno231 · 12/08/2021 23:06

@kay00 oof my ex had eczema like that and it turned out to be caused by water 🤪. Stress can be a huge factor like @thislittlebird said but that's such an annoying one as I always feel there's not much you can do about it. Any chance your mackerel nausea is bfp induced? 😅 I can't remember where in your cycle you're at.

Did 12k steps today and exercised for the fifth time in the past week, but def didn't do well calorie wise today either... Tomorrow is a new day! I'd love to start next week with my weight having dropped below 73kg 🙌

essexgirl58 · 12/08/2021 23:33

I have an issue. I am not trying to shed weight but maintain my existing weight. I bought some new digital scales toay and tried them out. I put them on the hard kitchen floor side by side with my old scales which are also digital. I jumped on the old scales and saw what the weight was. Then i immediately jumpe on the new scales which was next to them and was 4 pounds heavier. I do not unerstand that

bez91 · 13/08/2021 07:57

@thislittlebird gosh that's tough! When are you due to start your IVF?
Dermatology won't see me as I've basically exhausted all the treatment with the GP (antibiotic and cream combinations) and the next level ones have not been tested to prove they're save for pregnant women/TTC like most things!

@essexgirl58 wow that's some swing. Maybe carry on using them both and go for an average? 🙈

I'm cycling 5 miles this morning as need to drop car off at garage and get back home to use the other car to get to work. Haven't rode a bike in years 😆

thislittlebird · 13/08/2021 09:30

@Juno231 water? in what way? too hard? I'm convinced my anxiety and over excited nervous system set it off, but I could be wrong, there could be some other trigger. My only other guess is pollution. I was in Cornwall for a week and my allergic conjunctivitis cleared up and my skin was fine, it didn't get worse and was pretty good there.

@bez91not exactly sure. We were planning to start end of September/early October with a private clinic and then suddenly this week the NHS sent us funding for one round and we're meeting them on Aug 31. I'm really hoping we can start the same time we'd planned, but if it is late October/early November then so be it, I guess.

So annoying when they say you can't have them. You don't have PCOS by any chance, do you? They think I might have it or borderline have it and I was interested to see skin afflictions seem to be a lesser symptom of it.

Cycling! Wish I was brave enough to do 5 miles on a bike.

I'm not sure I'm going to get much movement in today. Got a lot of work to do because yesterday was a write-off. Do need to walk to the pharmacy though.

@essexgirl58 my digital scales are weird too. I don't like them or trust them because they're so variable, but can't justify another pair really. I would pick one set and just stick with it.

Juno231 · 13/08/2021 10:21

@thislittlebird he couldn't figure out which aspect it was but apparently it can be due to chalkiness, hardness or chlorine. He ended up giving up traditional showering for a year - using special chemicals and just washing his hair, pits and groin with water. It completely went away and from what I know he doesn't struggle with it anymore. Luckily this was after I'd left him lol! But he def was a very clean person so I'm sure he managed it well.

MissC07 · 13/08/2021 11:26

Morning ladies! Diet well and truly went out the window for me yesterday... went to the cheese conveyor-belt restaurant in London last night and had about 6 plates of cheese and wine 🙈 Determined to not drink this weekend though!!

Kay00 · 13/08/2021 13:45

@thislittlebird no, he's just not interested, its a bit frustrating really as I can see he is uncomfortable/in pain (and also doesn't like taking his top off at the beach/going swimming etc), @Juno231 oh dear... water?! That poor man!

@juno unfortunately I got a BFN today at 11DPO, so I think the nausea was caused by general tiredness + my Metformin.

@MissC07 haha! Oh no, that sounds incredible!! Grin

I was too tired to cook last night (really, I was completely knocked for six, I even ordered some lateral flow tests just in case!), and I didn't have any food in either. My 85 year old neighbour gave me a tin of curry (bless her, she's so cute) but my OH was not impressed, so we ordered fried chicken from Deliveroo Grin. I was pretty good, though: I just had 4 x pc breaded chicken and a couple of chips.

I weighed myself this morning and I lost a teeny tiny amount: 0.3lb (0.13 kg lol)

Juno231 · 13/08/2021 13:47

@MissC07 omg there's a what what conveyor belt restaurant?!?! I'm googling this straight away

Just do damage limitation and may try and fit some exercise in this weekend!

I've just been on a walk at lunch with OH and had a 600 cal lunch. Got fish for dinner tonight and will def have a glass or two of wine so it's key I fit some exercise in after work! I'm thinking a Body Combat class.

Dinner inspo if anyone needs it: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/zesty-haddock-crushed-potatoes-peas

MissC07 · 13/08/2021 13:53

@Juno231 it's called pick and cheese!! There's a couple but I went to the one in Covent Garden!! On Wednesday they do 'bottomless cheese' thank god I went on a Thursday 🤣 That dinner looks lush!!

@Kay00 well done on the loss! 👏

Kat668 · 13/08/2021 14:02

Happy Friday everyone! I've just weighed myself and I've lost a pound and a half :D slow start but definitely happy it's a move in the right direction!
