Crossover Thread for Conception x Weight Loss

A thread for ladies TTC and TTLW (Trying To Lose Weight!). Maybe your worried your weight is impacting on conceiving, maybe you're thinking ahead to a healthy future pregnancy and birth, making you're planning fertility treatment and want to ensure you meet criteria.

@IsabelHerna how was your weekend?

@thislittlebird your croissant nutella made me laugh Grin. I did however have indian takeaway on Saturday and plenty of wine over the weekend so I'm with you!

The weather is gorgeously autumnal and crisp here in London (was pouring this morning though) so I'm seriously considering going out for a run after work. Haven't been on a run in months! Although this is partly because there aren't any good running routes where I am now compared to where I lived last year...

@Juno231 I tried to get back on it today and I was doing well and then my husband came
home with a a bag of Doritos 😭. So I ended up eating Doritos, a digestive biscuit and a spoon of peanut butter. The last one is fine but the other two were not planned. I’d been good and ate well for breakfast and lunch.

I should have gone out today, I will try to tomorrow.

@Juno231I stayed on track for the most part...I couldn't help myself on Saturday night I slipped and fell on Nutella as well hahaha 😅 How about you?

Other than that, I got a few books and stayed home reading about pregnancy, conception, IVF, and...parenting... I don't know why I bought parenting books when I am not even pregnant, but it took me to weird places..

I am trying to stay on track since Monday though, now I just want to make it 1 week where I do everything right.

@thislittlebird how are you doing?

Recently joined this thread but until now have been AWOL.

I'm starting 16/8 from today, with more wholefoods and less carby crap. We shall see how it goes. Doing well thus far, had a white coffee at 1230 and now making stir-fry with leftover beef and noodles.

@IsabelHerna @feliznavidad2 @thislittlebird how are we all? Sorry I've been AWOL - last week was manic as it was my last week at my old job so I had lots of work to finish and three nights out! There was a colleagues 40th, my leaving drinks and my BIL's birthday dinner three nights in a row. Then Saturday came round and I got the worst cold! Today is the first day since that I've felt somewhat human.

Weighed in today at 72.2kg! So I'm losing weight but at a glacial pace. I'm just happy it's trending downwards 🤷. This actually gives me a BMI of bang on 25 and it's the lowest weight I've recorded in a year on myfitnesspal so I'm happy today 😁. Let's hope I can keep it going!

On day 3 of slightly more sensible eating and 16/8, feel much better for it despite work being busy and having a mega heavy period. Now to keep it up over the weekend...

@feliznavidad2 ah well done!! I know what you mean about the weekend - that's when all my progress seems to be undone.

71.9kg today so my BMI is 24.9 🥳

I've got a wedding on the 20th of Nov so that's 6 weeks from now. Reckon I could lose 2kg in that time 😅.

Good morning ladies! Sorry I went AWOL for a few days. I went off the wagon at first, but I've got a couple of days that I am really trying!

I am doing the 16 8 fasting AND eating just salads for lunch and dinner. I have seen some results and I want to keep doing it. Hopefully if I see more results, I will be motivated to start exercising again (yep stopped that too :( )

@feliznavidad2 Welcome!! How is it going? How do you feel with the fasting?

@Juno231 Congratulations! You doing amazingly! How close are you to your goal?

Still plodding with 16/8 here and lost 1.8kg since started a week ago. I do have a fair bit to lose though but am pleased as have had a couple of G&T's and some not so healthy food in my window on occasion.

Just need to keep going...

@feliznavidad2 Wow you're actually doing amazingly! 1.8kg in under a week, I wish I could see results like these too.

I have been focusing on salads, and healthy eating alongside the 16/8 but honestly, I am afraid to go on the scale. I know it's weird for a grown-up woman, but so many things are hanging from this. If I don't have the numbers needed, my ivf plans go behind, my dream of a family falls back... So, yeah I am scared to go on the scale...

Anyways, how is everyone doing?

The thread is quiet! I disappeared when struggling to focus on weight loss but I think I lost a couple of pounds last week or two. Had to fill in my weight on the ivf form and when I weighed myself it was less than usual. I was very busy last week, did a lot of steps, did rowing, cycling to the shops (and nearly died trying to get uphill) so I’ll put it down to that plus not overeating.

Hello all, Ive been doing low carb. DH is out tonight and I cant be bothered cooking at all so have just had smoked salmon and raw veg! Need to update my weight soon; might go to the boots machine on Wed morning

I used to go on the boots machine and then I kept going and it would be broken each week, so I gave up lol

@TheDaydreamBelievers how was the low carb at first? how long did it take for you to get adjusted?

As for me, I lost track girls, I fell so hard off the wagon it still hurts!

I was dealing with some other medical problem that pushed my IVF plans back and I started overeating, stress-eating and generally, EATING! So now I have to magically lose the 5pounds I gained, and at least 5exra by the end of the month... Is it even possible?

@TheDaydreamBelievers yeah, except I start IVF soon and I’ve left it way too late, clearly :/

I was planning a 30 day fitness programme leading up to it but my brain hates me and I’m now having terrible anxiety and panic issues at night and can’t sleep. So every day I’m meant to be doing something (like today), I’m wrecked from the no sleep issue. I hate this whole process but I am trying Confused

@kay00 I’m really trying to be fitter before IVF but my mh issues keep delaying me. I really just want a good chance to try to be fitter before ivf starts, feels like my mental health is conspiring against me 😭

I ate a lot of chocolate over Christmas but it’s gone now. I’ve been making protein shakes/smoothies for breakfast each morning, except today, because I ate digestives at like 4am, then slept for a few hours between 6 and 10 and then called in sick because I’m not functioning.
