Mmm those biscuits look gooood 😋

Im also doing low sugar and low carbs, but largely because I'm on Metformin for insulin resistant PCOS.

Today:

  • low sugar muesli + full fat milk
  • 1/2 Soreen loaf + butter 🙈
  • salted nuts
  • wholemeal bagel thin with tuns and cheese (melted)

I might have some dark chocolate as a treat tonight too, as today is the first day in a while I haven't felt sick 🙌

Kay00 · 21/08/2021 21:27

*tuna not tuns 😆

Juno231 · 22/08/2021 15:48

@fallingup hi and welcome! I try and calorie count and use myfitnesspal to stay on track

@thislittlebird those biscuits look amazing 🤤

@kay00 haha soreen is lethal, I never ever buy it anymore as I know I have zero self control around it

Well ladies - yday I was at an all day garden party/ BBQ so I think you can guess how that went lol. I didn't overeat but the alcohol will have added up massively... OH and I are pretty tired and hungover today as a consequence - which on the one hand means I've barely eaten today but also means we're having Chinese takeaway for dinner tonight 😅

Okay tomorrow is a new week so I'd better get serious again... Plan will be to exercise 3x, average a minimum of 10k steps per day and stick to my calories for once!

thislittlebird · 22/08/2021 16:02

Perfectly understandable for a bbq though but that does sound like a good plan @Juno231!

I am making sweet and sour vegetables with egg fried rice (thanks to Gok Wan for having a recipe I can adapt to be meat free!) tonight. I’m really struggling today, hoping this food is a little comforting. I have no friends in real life who get this, and am a bit of a loner these days anyway. It hard the last couple of days.

I was listening to BFN the podcast and they have so much support. Family, great friends, and successful cycles. I can’t relate to that and I don’t have that network. The friends I do have don’t get it, it’s really hard sometimes.

bez91 · 22/08/2021 16:21

@Kay00 I'm trying low sugar, low carbs too. Nipping to greengrocers tomorrow to do some meal prep for the week.

Definitely understandable for a BBQ @Juno231 and yes the alcohol is will add up but well done on not overeating. I'd have overdone both 😆

Had an off week. Wedding anniversary and eaten copious amounts of chocolate. Gym will be a bit off this week as DH on call so can't go on evenings but hoping to get some home workouts in on an evening 😊

professionalcockney · 22/08/2021 18:37

My first diet week was crap so hoping for a better one from tomorrow!

Planning on low carb / low sugar too.

Dropping DC at a friends then off to the supermarket to stock up on healthy food!

fallingup · 22/08/2021 18:49

Eugh ladies I've just ordered a takeaway lol we are isolating 🤭 I'm going to start dance fit tomorrow! & will walk my dogs twice a day. Gotta work on the diet side of things 🤣

Most seem to be doing low carb and low sugar so I'll try that out too ☺️ should we have weigh ins on here?? Im thinking for accountability 👀

thislittlebird · 22/08/2021 21:17

I would offer to do that @fallingup if it wasn’t for my sprained ankle 🤨

I won’t be weighing myself tomorrow. I’ve hit a bit of a low and have consumed a lot of biscuits. I don’t know how to be better next week ugh.

I really struggle with low carb, and I think it’s because we are 90% veggie.

Juno231 · 23/08/2021 09:36

@fallingup argh yes let's do weigh ins (for those who want to)

Today I'm at 44.7kg - I'm hoping a good kg of that is bloat from last night's dinner though!

Just had yogurt and oats for breakfast. I don't normally have breakfast but unfortunately woke up starving! If it doesn't rain, the plan is to use my lunch hour to go on a walk. I've been wanting to buy the Autumn candle by the white company (I'm feeling rather in the autumnal/cosy mood) so might walk to the nearest shop and back - that should be motivating! It's 33 min each way.

Juno231 · 23/08/2021 09:38

@thislittlebird I'd say step one is to not have any biscuits in the house and then step 2 is to plan other, healthier snacks in advance? Also maybe up the protein in your meals in case it's the carbs that cause a post meal sugar dip that makes you reach for the biscuits?

Juno231 · 23/08/2021 09:38

@fallingup sorry for the triple post but just realised I gave my weight as 44.7kg LOL! I thought it looked funny... Make that 74.7...

thislittlebird · 23/08/2021 09:47

It’s more my mood than anything. I’ve hit a big wall and been very down the last few days. My diet will improve if my mood does, probably.

But I do have a protein shortage.

fallingup · 23/08/2021 09:57

@Juno231 I was thinking you're teeny! 🤣

I am 5ft 8, 84kg making my BMI 27! Eeeeekkkk

Already off on a bad foot, my OH made me my usual sugary coffee lol 🙈 at least today I plan to exercise ☺️ it's a beautiful almost autumn day here today!

fallingup · 23/08/2021 09:58

@thislittlebird I'm with you on the mood thing, the slightest upset makes me plunge down the rabbit hole!

Juno231 · 23/08/2021 09:59

@thislittlebird I know what you mean, you have to be in the right frame of mind to diet, that's what I struggle with the most as well. Something to consider is that it's common to get down this time of the year (Sep in particular I think?) due to the change in light affecting our moods. I know people suffering from depression that know to be extra kind to themselves this time of year as it always comes with a slump. Maybe focus on some TLC this week? Reading, baths, lighting candles and drinking yummy teas etc. I'm trying to focus on the cosy Gilmore Girls type aspects of autumn right now, otherwise I'd just be crying about the lack of summer, holidays and so on.

On the bright side I didn't have to be seen in a swimsuit/bikini this year??

You can always DM me as well

Kay00 · 23/08/2021 10:30

@thislittlebird I have found increasing the protein difficult too as normally we eat 90% veg. But I have really gone off salad, eggs and tofu in the past week, so have been resorting to more meat :/

I might be teaching you to suck eggs here, but choosing wholemeal flour over white, or whole grain oats over refined means you can still eat carbs. You should aim to eat less though and balance out with protein, so a slice toasted brown bread with peanut butter is going to release energy much slower than a slice of white bread and butter (plus its 100% tastier!)

I love having something to look forward to (esp. when it feels like autumn is on its way) so my mum, sis, niece and I have booked to stay in a London hotel for a couple of nights this November and we are planning on going to the aquarium, Shrek adventure and Harry Potter World Grin ... perhaps planning something like a show or a little trip might help keep your mood above water xx

I made an apple and blackberry crumble last night (but used wholemeal flour, oats and minimal sugar and butter) which was a massive treat and super tasty... I will have a little more tonight.

thislittlebird · 23/08/2021 10:33

My bmi is 26 @fallingup and I weight about 64kg and I’m 5ft 2”. I would love to get to 25.

I looked at Juno’s weight when tired and thought my British brain was the issue lol.

@Juno231 funny you say that because I’m convinced my mood is more impacted by weather and light/dark as I’ve got older. It’s been a really miserable August too.

I’m hoping the appointment with the ivf clinic next week will reinvigorate me a little, I feel like I live appointment to appointment. I was listening to the BFN podcast and it really triggered me. For a number of reasons including that they were successful with ivf first or second time (I’m convinced that won’t be me), and because there was all this chat about going to New York or Paris or wherever and I’m like ffs, we can’t even go anywhere, this is so annoying. There’s no distraction for my brain. I said to my husband we might have to do a few train trips for weekends elsewhere just to distract me while this is is all ongoing. For now we’re doing up the spare room (IKEA and Argos will be delivering stuff at the end of the week) and I can’t even help as much as I’d like because of my stupid ankle.

I did end up in a swimsuit though! I went to Cornwall and it was that really nice week of weather in July, you may have been away at the same time, I can’t remember.

Reading is probably a good idea. I need to try to do that, my husband will be at work in the evenings this week which can make it worse and more lonely. Maybe I’ll aim to try to read, if I can get my brain to focus.

bez91 · 23/08/2021 12:22

@thislittlebird that's me too. Eating is completely linked to my mood! A terrible combination actually isn't it struggling to conceive and also loose weight! 🤦🏼‍♀️ as if you need the journey to be any more of a merry go round.
Having things booked/planned definitely helps things especially that autumn slump everyone has spoke of. We've booked to go away in November and have stopped NOT making plans because of the "what ifs" related to TTC

I'm measuring on body fat lost as because I'm short my weight always "looks" not a lot on paper compared to the average height person. I've lost 2% of my body fat since March which is slow so hoping to increase the pace before we go away in November

Juno231 · 23/08/2021 13:58

Well ladies - I did 10k steps at lunch but I also finished off the leftover Chinese takeaway. Swings and roundabouts hey! I'm 1.4litres of water in though as well so maybe that will help counter the bloat - even my rings are on tight today!

@thislittlebird ah yes, that's when to Scotland! Definitely wasn't swimsuit weather there lol

@bez91 that's amazing work on the body fat! well done.

Kay00 · 23/08/2021 21:38

@bez91 wow! Amazing work on the body fat!

I'm really chuffed that I'm on my 2nd day without feeling sick and I feel like my appetite is coming back. The downside is im upping my Metformin to 3 x 500mg tomorrow 🙃

Food log:

  • low sugar muesli
  • 3 x rough oat biscuits with cheese + side salad
  • salted peanuts
  • spring onion, pancetta and cheese omlet
  • huge serving of crumble and custard 😆😋
fallingup · 23/08/2021 22:00

Day 1 👏🏻

I also had Chinese leftovers for dinner 👀 didn't quite get my 10k steps but got a walk in and some dance fit. Drank 2L and still going 🤣 how often are you girls weighing and measuring yourselves??

@Kay00 your food for the day sounds so good 😍

Juno231 · 23/08/2021 22:14

18k steps today and over 3 litres of water 💪

@fallingup I try and weigh myself most days as I know my weight fluctuates a lot. Too lazy for measurements and I find I can't seem to take them in the same spot so they're fairly meaningless 😂

ChinChilly · 23/08/2021 22:26

Birthday celebrations have finished this evening so I'll be back on the diet wagon tomorrow! Sounds like you're all doing well

professionalcockney · 23/08/2021 23:10

Checking in with a good day.

Eggs for breakfast, a handful of crisps at lunchtime as was rushing around and home made lasagne with salad for dinner.

Juno231 · 24/08/2021 09:31

@professionalcockney well done! I love it when I'm busy enough to forget to eat - best way to diet lol. Instead I normally get bored and snack out of boredom...

Down 0.6kg since yday - goes to show how crazy water weight is.
Plan is to hit the gym at lunch and maybe fit in a walk after work to get my steps in as well.

@ChinChilly is a happy belated birthday in order? Definitely diet breaking worthy!
