A thread for ladies TTC and TTLW (Trying To Lose Weight!). Maybe your worried your weight is impacting on conceiving, maybe you're thinking ahead to a healthy future pregnancy and birth, making you're planning fertility treatment and want to ensure you meet criteria.

Sorry I haven't posted much these last few days. I have been caring for my grandad in Cornwall (and I've brought him back to my home in Devon... so he's sad watching TV next to me as I type 🥰) so my life has had zero routine and has been very chaotic 🙃 which means my eating habits have been all over the place... I have eaten:

  • cakes
  • biscuits
  • fish and chips
  • lots of cereal
And I keep forgetting to take my Metformin 🤦‍♀️

I'm back in work tomorrow so I'm hoping the routine will get me back on track.

We are in Perranporth. It's been lush weather!

I was good today eating lightly during the day and then a Chinese meal in a restaurant tonight. Not strictly 100% low carb but also no bloating / over eating / uncomfortable feeling. Also no booze today.

We have decided today to have a no meals out / takeaways in September. That should save some money after a very expensive August!

So we went for our NHS IVF appointment today. Got a 2-3 month wait, so that’s some time to shift some pounds. I also noticed I still have moon face from being on prednisolone in March and April and I have no idea how to fix that, wondering if it will ever go away or if will eventually go away if I lose a bit of weight.

Hey ladies! I've been good the past few days! I've been really good! Lots of walking, water intake and started trying the 16 - 8 fasting. Lost half a kilo.. Well, not great, but it's something!

How is everyone going on? Do you have a specific day each week to weigh yourself or do you do it every day? I kinda try to avoid the scale.

Oh, also I tried @Juno231 your advice and it has helped a lot! Thank you!

Sorry I've been quiet girls, I was busy over the bank holiday weekend and busy at work on either end of it too so not been on MN much. I'm just stable weight wise, def been eating at maintenance rather than loss! Really need to get my bum in gear, but so I say every week!

@thislittlebird moon face... looking online it does seem to suggest managing weight, lowering salt intake and upping water should help - I hope it does!

@professionalcockney oh I should do a no takeaway Sept! I do have at least 2 meals out planned though... But one of them is our 12th anniversary so that's okay Grin

@Juno231 a planned meal out is ok! It's more the unplanned ubereats on a Tuesday evening and then again on a Thursday and the weekend .

I'm a SAHM so I have no excuse to not cook a healthy meal every day!

Hi ladies! My low carb diet is not going well 😔 I've been looking after my grandad for the week, and he's honestly been more work that I imagined, so I have spent a lot of my time running around after him, which has meant I have had less time for healthy cooking. So all the food has been 'old man food'... we have had corned beef hash, fish and chips, semolina pudding. Amd I'm sooo bloated!!

He goes home tomorrow, so I'll be turning over a new leaf starting Saturday!

We had fish and chips last night (I had a small serving and didn't finish my chips) but I was hugely bloated this morning. So today I ate:

  • small bowl of muesli
  • cuppa soup
  • biscuits and chocolate whilst sat drinking tea with my grandad and elderly neighbour 🙄😆 (they were flirting with each other lol)
  • muscles in creamy leak sauce
  • chips (not all)
  • 1/2 piece bread with butter
  • 4 x scoop of ice cream 🤣🙈

It's shameful! But delicious. My poor stomach though! The Metformin isn't being kind but I just have zero self control 🙃

I'm having a horrendous week 🤣🥲 so far I've maintained though so will get back to it soon. Work makes it so hard! When I'm stressed out I'll run to the chocolate!

Also, where is everyone in their cycle?☺️

@fallingup ha I've been crap this week too and my weight has been all over the place. Was done massively to 72.5 yesterday and it shot up to 73.8 today 😂. I'm in my tww atm (4dpo) so tbf i think I tend to gain weight around now anyway... Where are you at in your cycle?

@thislittlebird how is your foot healing?

Haven't eaten yet today, got leftovers at lunch and leftover smoked haddock risotto for dinner. Will aim to get as many steps in as possible but the weather is rubbish here today.

New week ladies, who's with me for the umpteenth time?

Had two chia seed/buckwheat ryvita with light philly cheese this morning. Might try and skip lunch? Just to kick start things again, I'm feeling very sluggish and bloated. Which reminds - I'll aim for 3 litres of water today in this mini heatwave!

Hungarian stuffed peppers (mince, rice and paprika/tomato sauce) for dinner tonight.

Didn't even weigh in today btw... I'll do it tomorrow when less bloated lol.

@Juno231 me and my hammy foot are here. I’m down about my fat face (and other things) but the sun is out and I don’t have to go into the office today so I’m going to do a walk at lunchtime and aim to do some strength stuff too. A salad for lunch maybe.

3 litres is a good aim, I’ll fill my bottle up shortly! I could weigh myself before I eat breakfast......

I weighed myself and I weighed 10st and 0 pounds 👀👀👀, that’s 3lbs less than last week. I was expecting to have gained because the last week has been funny with diet but I did go into work and fertility clinic scans etc so I did do a lot of walking but it could also be my scales having a funny moment. Need to keep the calories low and try to build on it, in case it’s real.

Hey ladies! How are you going? I have to report that the 16 8 fasting is really working! It helped me, of course, I am careful of what I eat, but I haven't changed anything really, I just moved all my meals to that 8hour window, and so far so good.

Also, I talked with a personal trainer to maybe start training (I am really not good at sports, nor do I like exercise mostly because I always had weight issues.) But I am afraid of how this might affect my IVF.

@IsabelHerna I did personal training before my wedding and it definitely works. I would do it again now but we’re trying to save the pennies.

@isabelherna I really don't think it would affect your fertility unless you started training really excessively? A PT sounds like a great idea - I used to have one with a focus on getting me comfortable with weight lifting and I loved it.

@thislittlebird not gonna lie, didn't bat an eye at hammy leg - it seemed perfectly reasonable! Well done on the weight loss! Join me on the water - I find it really helps with bloat plus helps keeps me away from snacking! Currently on my 4th 400ml glass of the day...

How are you ladies progressing? I've been really good the past few days on following the diet and controlling my snacks.

@IsabelHerna I'm not progressing much tbh but weighed myself today and was 72.8kg so at least I'm not gaining? Started 26th of July at 75.5kg so that's 2.7kg or 6lbs lost. Which I guess averages out to 1lb/week? Not totally crap when you put it that way!

I reaaaaally want to hit 72kg as the next mini goal as that would put me in the normal BMI range.

Drank 3.6 litres of water yesterday btw - I really think it helped with my weigh in this morning as I swear I was snacking most of the day.... perils of wfh.

@isabelherna what's the plan for today?

My bmi was 25.7 on Monday, best it’s been in a while. I haven’t been doing an awful lot except for walking around town.

Hi ladies! Great to hear you are all progressing with your weight loss!

I have had a lot going on recently and I have had less time to think about food... which has meant I have been eating less, so I suppose that's good Grin! I have lost another lb. Slow by steady loss for me.

But... my sis in law (who is currently staying with me) has lost 6 stone in the last year... yes... 6 stone!!! She has gone from size 20 to size 12 all in the name of TTC! She has PCOS and was going to try for a baby (long story but she LTB!). She is now enjoying life at the gym and is hoping to get into weightlifting! Truly an inspiration!!

My weight loss was a LIE. 😔 scales just messing with me, I’m back to 10st 3lbs today. Sigh. I need to do some stuff, I really do.

@Juno231 You're doing great! I am not doing as great.. In August I was dealing with another medical issue -not fertility realited- and they gave me strong meds which increase weight... +7kg! 7! not 1 or 2 but 7! So now I have the original 12kg to loose plus the 7 I gained in a matter of a few weeks.

Yesterday I had green salad for lunch (no dressings just oil and vinegar) and for dinner I made hotdogs at home (not perfect but could be worse as well). Today and tomorrow chicken+salad for lunch and salad for dinner. I am going to be strong.

@Juno231 How about you? What is your plan for today?

@IsabelHerna 7!! Is it just bloat or worse? I need to check expiration dates but today I'm either eating chicken breast with one of those ready made pouches of coconut rice and salsa (maybe mango salsa?) - or a persian lentil and egg recipe I found. Not gonna lie, I'm a big sucker for hot dogs!!
