I've reached peak fatness and need to sort myself out

Starting from today I am going to attempt to sort out my fatness.

I have had enough of not fitting into my clothes and feeling embarrassed about how I look. I find it exhausting being overweight.

Ideally I need to lose a good two stone but would be really happy to start with one stone.

Anyone like to join me?

Gosh, that’s a very low allowance. Is that every day? Who set it and how long are you on it for?

My fitness pal, plus experience tells me if I exceed that I don’t lose. I am very sedentary, especially now I work from home and don’t even walk to the loos etc. I don’t know if my metabolism is screwed but anything higher just doesn’t work. I suspect it’s simply my lack of moving around. Like I said- i’ve done a week and lost nothing.

@FAQs

Motivated by this thread I rejoined the gym I. say updated nearly 3 years, I’ve done a cardio session, a weights session and a spin class in the last four days with Monday and today as a rest day, there is not one part of me that doesn’t hurt!

I saw people weighing daily, I’m just doing weekly otherwise I’ll lose motivation 🙃

I’m weighing weekly too, daily will just confuse matters for me. I have body fat scales so will be keeping an eye on that too, ideally getting to 23% (I’m about 25% at the moment).

Hi @StooriMidori. Good luck with Noom, I’ve not used it.

Had my second covid jab this morning and am feeling a bit bleh now so I’ll check in now.

Breakfast - 2 crumpets with light philly, cucumber, black pepper. Cup of tea. Pint of water

Lunch - 1 crumpet, slice of cheese, cucumber, black pepper. Handful red grapes. Sweet chilli snack a jacks. Pint of water

Dinner (will be) - Skinless/boneless cod fillet roasted with tsp pesto, lemon & vine tomatoes, green salad, handful wholewheat pasta with the fish cooking juices stirred through. Pint of water

I’ll have a cup of tea and a dark choc baton in the evening if I’m feeling up to it.

All being well, I’ll finish the day under my goal of 1200. Under 1100 if I don’t have the chocolate later.

Frustrating
Dontforgetyourbrolly · 09/06/2021 19:01

Haven't counted any calories yet or weighed myself but I'm happy with my progress .
Today I've had bran flakes , no lunch as no time , some cups of tea and chicken salad for dinner. Just had a small freddo
I did a 5 mins abs work out and my usual 2 mile walk
I'm upping the work outs to 10 mins a day next week

Getoutofbed25 · 09/06/2021 19:22

I feel the same! I have about 3 stone to lose and very down about it.....WTAF has happened!
I started on Exante this week it’s 3 shakes/bars and a 200 calorie meal, so far so good, will weigh on Saturday

LimpLettice · 09/06/2021 19:57

I meant to check in on here and use it for accountability. Did one post then chickened out.

I'll be a month on WW on Sunday, so will weigh in then but have lost 10lb so far. Having a treat every day, 'paid' for by the ravenous BF baby which makes it bearable, and mostly still enjoying what I'm eating. I've eaten a massive dinner tonight as SIL came for tea, but it was protein / salad heavy rather than carbing out which I usually do when entertaining.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/06/2021 20:36

10lb! WOW, well done you @limplettuce

LimpLettice · 09/06/2021 20:44

A long way to go, but thank you, @BalladOfBarryAndFreda! The BF definitely helps even though he's almost a year now. I have no choice really - 2 diabetic pregnancies followed by a borderline hbA1c 6 months ago means I have to do this.

It really helps me to have a meal or two half off plan at the weekend. So curry, but with salad and lots of water, or a roast without the yorkie / potatoes. Otherwise I go all f*ck it and eat it all then feel terrible and eat more.

scaredsadandstuck · 09/06/2021 22:48

Not a bad day for me. No breakfast, lunch was a big bowl of salad bits with 2.5 falafals and couple of dollops of guacamole and toasted mini wholewheat tortilla Dinner was a bit rouge but not awful - burger with small handful of oven chips and corn on the cob, plus meringue nest with yog and berries. About 1300 cals in total today. Fitbit claims I burnt about 2k so allowing for mis-calculations on both sides I've hopefully got a 500 cal deficit which is what I'm aiming for.

Drowninginwashing · 10/06/2021 08:54

@LimpLettice hello I'm breastfeeding too! My baby (DC2) is 3 months but I BF DC1 until he was 2, I stopped during my pregnancy with my second. It's hard isn't it, the tiredness and hunger combined make for bad food choices! I've never been as @heavy as I am now but I need to strike a balance and not go too extreme because of the baby.

LimpLettice · 10/06/2021 09:11

Hello @Drowninginwashing your username is my life. It's called Mount Crumple in this house - it's all clean but never folded or put away.

I'm a veteran feeder. 4 years with my boob obsessed DD, big gap, then 2 boys with 19 months between them. DS1 weaned himself the week I gave birth to his brother. Anyway, I never lose the last stone while feeding, no matter what I do, I think it's hormonal, so I have to remind myself not to be disheartened when this loss plateaus! It's good motivation to do it all now while I can get a good amount off without feeling like I'm on starvation rations.

On the plus side, altho the tiredness and hunger don't help your choices, you can get away with a bit more! I tend to be extremely good all day - with a bit of a set routine so I don't pick, then scoff an ice cream after dinner. DS2's calorie intake gives me that leeway and I'd rather 'spend' it on a daily treat but be ultra good with my meals.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 10/06/2021 13:34

I've fallen off the wagon and had a bag of crisps .this is where I come undone ! Had about 2 hours sleep due to hot flushes and bad hayfever and I see snacking as a comfort, so not great
I'm trying to think of the whole week where I've been mostly very healthy
Home made chicken kebabs tonight

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 10/06/2021 13:43

I hear you on the hot flushes! So blinking tiring, and not at all conducive to getting a decent amount of exercise done.

Slipperrr · 10/06/2021 13:52

A bag of crisps is fine though, I think going cold turkey often makes you think of something more! The key is to have a reasonable amount, so a bag once every few days or whatever is much more sustainable.
Dontforgetyourbrolly · 10/06/2021 15:40

@TheTurn0fTheScrew I think it's all connected, weight gain around the tummy and peri menopause!
@Slipperrr thanks x

FAQs · 10/06/2021 15:58

Crisps are my Achilles heel, I’ve been trying to drink lots of water so I’m feeling too full to eat them 😩

Somuchtolose · 10/06/2021 16:09

I'll join please! I have four to lose & I've being too easygoing about losing it so I need to properly take it seriously now!!

Belliphat · 10/06/2021 17:58

11.11 today so going in the right direction. Sympathy to the fellow crisp lover - I ate two kettle crisps and they were heavenly.

Belliphat · 10/06/2021 17:58

I could eat them all day - am still going to have a few here and there

Happyface120 · 10/06/2021 18:36

Checking in again:
Lunch was yet more salad, still sticking to feeding window. Just about to have falafel for dinner but will skip the flatbread and have with lots of salad and reduced fat houmous instead.
Planning salmon pasta for dinner tomorrow- not the lowest in calorie, but delicious!
Enforced rest day today and tomorrow- can barely move my legs after a brutal sports massage yesterday!
Scales seem to be showing a bit of a drop, just hope that continues over the weekend

scaredsadandstuck · 10/06/2021 19:43

Well done everyone! Went for a gentle run/walk this morning. And food has been pretty good today although I'm having a glass of wine now but will still be in budget for the day I think.

DS birthday tomorrow so there will be cake and other less than healthy food around this weekend. Just need to remember to get back on it on Monday even if I can't stick with my calorie budget over next couple of days.

TattyDevine · 10/06/2021 21:14

Accountability check in! Still being sensible and back at the gym again tomorrow! Having an alcohol free weekend because that screws everything. Hope you are all okay! 😀

leli · 10/06/2021 21:51

Weighed today and it's the only the first week but have suddenly jumped down 4 lbs. Have also ordered new scales because WTF? How does that happen? Pleased but wary.

But I am managing to keep my calories below 900 each day and feeling very determined.

Time2b33 · 11/06/2021 00:01

I'm down 2lbs so pleased with that. Caved and had a bag of crisps today though. Couldn't resist.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 11/06/2021 10:17

Yesterday wasn’t my best. I wasn’t feeling tip-top so did the bare min of exercise, felt really lethargic. Didn’t even hit my 10k steps, would’ve been lucky to hit 5k I think, I wasn’t wearing my fitness watch so could let say for sure.

Food-wise, I was on track until 7pm when I had half a tub of Halo Top gooey chocolate brownie ice cream. Thankfully it’s the ‘diet’ stuff (380 cals for the whole tub) and so I didn’t do too much damage. Ended up finishing the day 110 cals over.

I’m feeling much better today though. Still a bit weary but I’ve managed to give the dog a decent walk this morning and kept my breakfast in check, so I’m already doing better today than I was at this point yesterday.
