I've reached peak fatness and need to sort myself out

Tryx · 06/06/2021 07:57

Starting from today I am going to attempt to sort out my fatness.

I have had enough of not fitting into my clothes and feeling embarrassed about how I look. I find it exhausting being overweight.

Ideally I need to lose a good two stone but would be really happy to start with one stone.

Anyone like to join me?

@TheTurn0fTheScrew That salad sounds really nice! I've had scrambled egg on toast no butter for breakfast (don't usually bother) and just had a jacket potato with tuna for lunch. Dinner is chicken with noodles and stir fry. It's not the best food but it's better than the crisps and biscuits I'm usually scoffing down. Will see if I can get everyone out for a walk later this evening.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 07/06/2021 16:54

Ok, Checking in on day 1.

Dog walked x2
Short jog + incline walk on treadmill because it’s been a while and I need to to work up to a full run
Breakfast - 3 crumpets, lurpack & marmite
Dinner will be - Green salad with smoked salmon fillet (skinless as I hate fish/meat skin), 2 hard boiled eggs, asparagus and a couple of baby new potatoes.

No lunch as I eat a big breakfast at about 9:30 and find I often don’t need it. I’ll finish today around 1100 cals and the nutrition has been good. So long as I can get through my witching hour of 8pm without snacking, I’ll be fine.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 07/06/2021 17:20

You are all doing so well with your exercise!
I've only done my usual school run walking which is 2miles
Been very good , cornflakes for breakfast, ham sandwich for lunch.. just some twiglets for a snack
Paella tonight because I need to use stuff up ..after dinner I'm going to do some weeding instead of flopping on the sofa
Have a big shop coming tomorrow with lots of fruits veg and salad . Going to make a big minestrone soup for my lunches

leli · 07/06/2021 18:00

I'm joining you. Weighed this morning after a couple of weeks of being scared. 11.4. Heaviest weight in my life. Oddly a relief though. I'm 5ft 5 and have a big wedding in mid August. I'd like to be under 10 stone by then and to finish up around 9 and a half stone. As when I left university.

I am absolutely determined and now in the zone.

All clothes look awful. Hate my tummy. DH is also on the path. We both put on about 1 stone or more over lock down. Drink, carbs and sloth. And age. I'm post menopause and boy I notice the difference.

Thinking about all my lovely clothes looking elegant. Especially jeans and shirts.

Very encouraged by you all. We can do it!

reallyreallyborednow · 07/06/2021 18:19

Well I’ve done my circuit training. Was hard and now I can’t my legs. Will see how I feel tomorrow because I’ve learned if I push too hard to quickly and don’t allow recovery I end up giving up.

Had toast for breakfast, rice cakes and peanut butter for lunch. Don’t know about tea yet, i’m working late which is usually when the munchies get me…

Lavender17 · 07/06/2021 18:34

I've also put on a stone during lockdown, none of my clothes fit, my stomach is horrible and my arms have cellulite. Weighed myself today and I'm the heaviest I've ever been. Plan to lose it by a kind of intermittent fasting - basically I delay eating for as long as I can! Also will try to cut right down on bread, cheese and biscuits - my downfalls. Done well so far today - had my first meal at 2pm, salad with quinoa from a microwave sachet. Also had an apple and a ryvita with cheese. Not sure what's for dinner, maybe stir fry without the noodles.

I started running a year ago during the first lockdown and still do 5k three times a week but annoyingly it hasn't stopped me gaining weight. Going to start some weight training in an attempt to tone up a bit. Good luck everyone, will be great to be accountable on here.

By the way,my best discovery today is that Mini Twister ice cream/lollies are only 38 Cals each and they are delicious!

SW - 10 stone 7 and three quarters
GW - 9 stone 7

ElfDragon · 07/06/2021 18:49

Today has been a mixed bag.

I’ve not managed any proper exercise, as had to take dd2 to doctors which took an age. But I have eaten well-ish. I had porridge for breakfast (half portion, as was sharing with ds), an apple mid-morning (instead of my usual crisps and biscuits), a toastie for lunch, and no snacking in the car at all.

I’ve had dinner (vegetable pasta, and had a slightly smaller portion), and so now the aim is no snacks this evening.

Overall, a better day than many recently, so going in the right direction.

SRK16 · 07/06/2021 18:54

I’m away (at the uk coast,) at the moment but keen to join you when I get back next weekend. I was heavier than I’d like before I got pregnant two years ago... then put on a stone in pregnancy, then the winter lockdown made me so depressed that I binge ate another stone on. So need to lose two stone at a minimum. My portion sizes are definitely too big and I comfort eat a lot too. I have a history of eating disorders so have to balance the losing weight with also not going mad. But mentally I’m in a good space so I think it will be okay. Not sure whether I will have put on weight or lost weight after my week away, being much more active and snacking less, but drinking more.

BookShark · 07/06/2021 19:58

Right, that's me done for the day, and in line with my Nutracheck calorie allowance so happy with that. Plus I must have walked miles today as we went to the zoo, so that's a bonus. Fingers crossed it works, as it feels manageable with some planning - just need to stop the mentality of being owed a treat at the weekend. Not sure what will replace my Friday night takeaway and wine, but will need to find something!

YorkshireLawyer · 07/06/2021 20:01

Two days done here. Had an active day yesterday, ran 5k with DS including some decent climbs (just over 150m) and a couple of hours’ gardening. Today I’ve done a Kayla Itsines workout (it was HARD, I have no strength whatsoever) and a quick 3k on the treadmill before dinner to try to get my step count up as WFH in a full on job it’s usually pretty low during the week. Food wise have been good too. No fat Greek yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, salad and grilled halloumi for lunch and a split pea dal for dinner with rice - small (for me!) portion. Tea, coffee and 2l + of water today. 11 st 13.4 lb on the scales this morning (weighing daily), so over 2lb lower than yesterday!

Tryx · 07/06/2021 20:52

Two days done here too.

Ive been busy all day and haven't been tempted to scoff. Ive just sat down and am thinking about something sweet to eat but I shall resist.

Took the dog for a long walk again earlier, poor thing doesn't know what's hit her 🐶

Well done everyone sticking to the plan.

Entering that danger time of day for me.....but coming to the end of 2nd day. Pleased with my Fitbit showing a calorie burn of 2500 today, it's been an active one, and stuck to the 16/8 plan so far.
Looking forward to the improvements in sleep that it usually brings when I manage to stick to it and avoid any eating after 7.30pm.
Have to keep reminding myself that when I'm tempted to tiptoe back into the kitchen Blush
Great to read everyone's positive posts

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/06/2021 21:12

Fitbit stats for today
Steps 12031
Active minutes 80
Calories burnt 3025 (never quite sure I believe that... But it appears it's because of being very overweight)

Meals...
Vegetable omelette (3 eggs), salad, handful of crisps
Bolognese sauce and vegetables. Sugar free jelly.

Had some fruit as well. And a bit of chocolate.

Went for a walk in the woods for 30mins as well as HIIT this morning.

Overall not bad.

Belliphat · 07/06/2021 22:11

I was doing quite well until I found the Pringles in the cupboard - only had some instead of the tube though so could be worse!

Happyface120 · 08/06/2021 08:59

Checking in for day 2.

Yesterday was good meal-wise: big turkey salad and jacket potato for lunch, then stir fry for dinner, with a 16 hour fasting window. Went for a 15 mile trundle on the bike in the evening, although it was at a very relaxed pace.
As always though, my downfall is immediately after work. Last night I ate a packet of crisps, a muesli bar and some shortbread whilst waiting for the kettle to boil Confused

inigomontoyahwillcox · 08/06/2021 09:32

Went swimming yesterday, only managed 8 lengths ... but it was a 90 metre pool.

First weigh in as the scales arrived. 95.2kg, just awful! Am 170cm so that gives me a BMI of 32.8. I want to get to 70.

Have been off the booze and seriously watching my diet for about a month now, DH thinks I'm loosing weight but I can't see it. Now I've got the scales it will hopefully motivate me a bit more.

leli · 08/06/2021 10:10

Day 2 weigh in. No change. What??!!! I only ate 850 calories yesterday. But okay, I'm keeping going. Just have to be patient. Hope we're all hanging in there.

reallyreallyborednow · 08/06/2021 10:12

@leli i’ve been on track for a week now, cot a calorie budget of 1000, stuck to it, plus 2 hard circuit sessions, and no change at all.

I remember why I give up on diets now! Need to up the exercise as I get fitter, i was doing 5 times a week pre lockdown but my body gives up after one session now!

poopyface · 08/06/2021 10:33

Yesterday - jog, HIIT, 13000 steps, 1600 cals on food or thereabouts . Ate well until I logged how many calories are in an olive oil dressing I used - definitely need to watch that.
Today - HIIT first thing but working all day so steps won’t be great, will need to squeeze some in. No breakfast, omelette with roasted veg and salad lunch, salmon stir fry dinner probably no noodles unless I can get something in beforehand to justify them.
No weigh in for me for two weeks yet...

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/06/2021 10:34

@leli I've been at this since late April. I do weigh daily, but look for weekly trends rather than daily variations. Sometimes when I've had a brilliant few days the scale goes up, and occasionally I get away with losing when I've not really been sticking to it. I'm sure the next week or two will show the benefits of your hard work.

the google fit app plots a nice little weight loss curve, which I find motivating when I've stalled a bit.

leli · 08/06/2021 10:59

As an older woman I think calorie control takes longer. I’m determined to keep going and I’m sure it will work out over weeks. Onwards and downwards.

Drowninginwashing · 08/06/2021 11:04

Hello please can I join? I am a size 14-16, I used to be a 10-12 before I had my babies. My youngest is only 3 months and my husband works 12 hour days so it's almost impossible for me to exercise and I've started eating crap all the time! I need to lose about 1.5 stone I reckon

Drowninginwashing · 08/06/2021 11:28

Oh god. Ok I just weighed myself. I need to lose at least 2 stone, 2.5 would be better. Urgh.

BaklavaBalaclava · 08/06/2021 11:52

Morning! Can I join you all? I have gone from obese to normal BMI since feb this year, but still quite fitting back into my office clothes! I really messed up in lockdown!

Still have 20lbs to lose, it will be good to have something to keep me going as I think I'm aiming to lose 1 lb per week so I need to stay on track for half a year!

5'2 and 139 lbs....

TheBobJog · 08/06/2021 12:44

Afternoon all

So today I've managed a 10 min HIIT session, yesterday was kettlebells and an evening run. Definitely feeling my legs now!

I'm aiming for 18/6 so just had two boiled eggs and wholemeal toast for lunch.

@Drowninginwashing I weighed yesterday and discovered it was worth than I thought too Sad. But at least I'm no longer in denial Grin
