I've reached peak fatness and need to sort myself out

Tryx · 06/06/2021 07:57

Starting from today I am going to attempt to sort out my fatness.

I have had enough of not fitting into my clothes and feeling embarrassed about how I look. I find it exhausting being overweight.

Ideally I need to lose a good two stone but would be really happy to start with one stone.

Anyone like to join me?

I’ve managed some exercise today (30 minutes fitness, just gentle stuff as easing myself in because I’m so unfit), and have so far not snacked at all (porridge for breakfast again, carrot sticks mid morning, and a toastie and yoghurt for lunch).

All going well with small changes so far.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 08/06/2021 13:46

Im snacking so much less ! I did a 5 min squats workout today ( fit in 5 ) , been quite busy at work (wfh) so haven't left my desk much. Had a cheese sandwich for lunch, not great but usually I'd be stuffing my face all day. Cheerios for breakfast. All the healthy stuff is coming in my grocery shop later !
I'll do some more work in the garden again after dinner so that I'm not just flopping down .
I'm not weighing yet but measuring myself in clothes!

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 08/06/2021 13:49

I'm going for dinner with my friends Saturday haven't seen then for ages but I'm going with a new mindset. It's easy to say " I'll just enjoy myself and have what I want " but I've been doing that for a year and now I'm fat and miserable. Going off to research healthy options on the menu now ! I don't drink much so that's a bonus

Checking in - going ok today. Went for a very gentle walk/run this morning after drop off (was already v.hot!) and had a sensible breakfast (Skyr yog) and lunch was mini wholemeal wrap with chicken and salad and a small spoonful of coleslaw, plus and apple. I've just had a bag of mini-breadstick to keep me going too.

I contacted my Noom coach and got her to re-set my programme for me so will (re-)read the articles this evening.

Think dinner will be some garlic and herb chicken skewers with veg and couscous.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 08/06/2021 19:28

Evening. Checking in for the day, moderately good. Finishing the day on 1300 cals today. Unfortunately I have snacked, which I was supposed to be avoiding Hmm. Tomorrow is another day and at least I’m 100 cals within my allowance despite my snackage.

Breakfast - 2 crumpets with philly light
Lunch - 1 crumpet, lurpack light, thin slice of cheese, cucumber, black pepper. Handful of red grapes on the side
Dinner - lentil & turkey Bolognese with bucatini.

Drinks - Cups of tea (I give myself a 100ml semi-skimmed milk allowance daily) and water (all I drink as a cold, soft drink anyway).

Snacks - 1 bag of sweet chilli snack a jacks & 1 hotel chocolat 85% baton with a cup of tea.

Exercise - 2 dog walks and some gardening.

Tryx · 08/06/2021 20:51

I went to a garden birthday party today so that was always going to end badly on the food front.

Tomorrow will be better.

So I've been watching this thread a while now, I am in the same boat as many. Can someone tell me what I should eat for tea? I have 280 ish calories to play with.

  1. Cereal and milk
  2. Bolog and something??
  3. Toast and marmalade.

I've had loads of fruit and vegetables today so it is more of what will fill me up with the fewest calories...

YorkshireLawyer · 08/06/2021 20:54

Another successful day here! Went for a 7k run fasted this morning. That was hard - legs feel like lead weights after Circuits yesterday! No breakfast apart from a couple of cups of tea. Griddled halloumi salad again for lunch, a peach mid afternoon and prawn stir fry with lots of veg and rice noodles for dinner. It had a peanut butter sauce so was quite calorific but still under 1300 cals for the day. Another new low on the scales this morning - 11st 12.6 lb.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 08/06/2021 21:00

Your Bolognese sauce probably won’t allow anything else with it for 280 and might even be over allowance if it’s a big portion or not a lean recipe.

So it’s between Cereal and milk and toast/marmalade. You could have a couple of slices of average sliced bread and a scraping of marmalade or the cereal. Which do you prefer and which will fill you up the most?

Reallyreallyborednow · 08/06/2021 21:03

So i’ve had:
Toast
4 rice cakes and smear of peanut butter
4cream crackers and tablespoon of cottage cheese
Stir fry- veg, tofu, and 45 cal sauce, so probably about 300 cals

Need the scales to start moving though!

No exercise as my legs are sore but cleaned the house and put shelves up. Will hit the gym tomorrow- that extra 500cals makes a big difference as I’m on quite a low calorie allowance.

Time2b33 · 08/06/2021 21:07

Can I please join? I started on Monday. Need to lose 2 stone and go from 12 stone to 10 stone.

Have done 2 good days with lots of walking.

👍

Tryx · 08/06/2021 21:23

Hello @Time2b33 happy to have you. Good luck.

So I weighed myself yesterday, 78 kg at 5ft2. I'm meant to have a friend doing a mini photo shoot with my daughter Sunday, I've got nothing that fits. Managed to eat OK today and about 1200. Also walked miles as forgot bits from lidl in the first attempt 🤦‍♂️ my biggest issue is snacking and stress eating

tinseloatcake · 08/06/2021 22:40

Thanks so much and had toast and marmalade, not too much. So 11 Cal's over. Apparently in just 5 weeks I will be 5lb down. Let's see how I get on....

FAQs · 09/06/2021 08:42

Motivated by this thread I rejoined the gym I. say updated nearly 3 years, I’ve done a cardio session, a weights session and a spin class in the last four days with Monday and today as a rest day, there is not one part of me that doesn’t hurt!

I saw people weighing daily, I’m just doing weekly otherwise I’ll lose motivation 🙃

FAQs · 09/06/2021 08:43

*after nearly 3 years.

GalOopNorth · 09/06/2021 08:48

Well done all, sounds like a great start! I am doing IF so just coffee for breakfast and Huel ( the higher protein one)for lunch, then a small dinner - veggies and protein and a little carbs.
Down a little already - but no doubt just water! 26 lbs to go to target!

Wincher · 09/06/2021 08:59

I think I need to join - just weighed myself and I'm at 82kg. 80kg is my danger point where I really need to do something about it. 76.5kg is the top of my healthy BMI range but I haven't been there for some time... I was on holiday last week and ate lots of cream teas etc... I know most of weight loss is down to diet rather than exercise, sadly - I went to the gym 15 times in May and on my holiday I regularly hit 20k steps a day on coast path walks, but it doesn't seem to help.

Low carbing tends to work best for me so i will cut out white refined carbs. I tend to find it mostly easy enough to replace the carbs element of meals with a big portion of veg or salad - but I do struggle with pizza as that's my favourite! i don't mind a cauliflower base pizza but it's quite a faff while making normal dough for the rest of the family. Plus booze is a bit of a downfall for me too. Started this morning with a rasher of bacon, an egg and some tomatoes.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/06/2021 09:21

Good points about yesterday...

  • met Fitbit targets, mostly exceeding them (81 active minutes, over 3000 calories burnt, over 10,000 steps, hourly targets)
  • bought healthy breakfast and lunch food.
  • healthy meals.

Bad bit... A few biscuits and a mini ice cream cone.

Tuesday is a hard day as I have my volunteer job from 5pm-7.30pm. Too early for dinner beforehand, starving by 8pm.

Drowninginwashing · 09/06/2021 12:43

Hello all! So day two of my attempt to move away from the 'obese' BMI category... I tried to do one of the NHS workouts from YouTube but my toddler and baby were not impressed and also my ankle was really sore (I suffered a bad sprain about a month ago). So I only managed about 15 mins, but considering I haven't exercised since I fell pregnant last year, I'm fairly proud of myself regardless Grin

iluvnettletea · 09/06/2021 13:53

There seem to be a lot of short people in this group, me included. I can put weight on so fast through the midsection.

I have roasted a whole platter of veggies and made some hummus, bought wholemeal pittas. Salmon and veg for dinner tonight. So far, so good.

Happyface120 · 09/06/2021 14:13

Day 3 check in:
Fasting period was fine, even managed to avoid a canteen breakfast in work.
Huge salad with couscous and chickpeas for lunch.
Planning egg fried rice and veg for dinner.
I have a sports massage booked tonight, and will have a swim before that.
Will then just need to negotiate evening binge danger zone...

I should be OK tomorrow as well, but the weekend is always tricky. Not sure how strict to be, as I would really like a few glasses of wine, but then that often leads to bad food decisions Blush

FAQs · 09/06/2021 15:39

@Happyface120 I brush my teeth straight after dinner, seems to stop me snacking in the evening, usually..

StooriMidori · 09/06/2021 16:30

Can I join please? I lost 2stone during my pregnancy thanks to hyperemesis (every cloud and that...) and have put 9lb of it back on 😭 I just signed up for Noom this afternoon and found this thread after searching Mumsnet for 'Noom' so am glad to see some of you having success with it. I have 4st to lose, probably more...

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/06/2021 16:47

Gosh, that’s a very low allowance. Is that every day? Who set it and how long are you on it for?
