I've reached peak fatness and need to sort myself out

Starting from today I am going to attempt to sort out my fatness.

I have had enough of not fitting into my clothes and feeling embarrassed about how I look. I find it exhausting being overweight.

Ideally I need to lose a good two stone but would be really happy to start with one stone.

Anyone like to join me?

Just back from the first venture into the big boy part of the gym! And they've bloody moved everything about which flummoxed me somewhat but I still put in a respectable workout 👍🏻 Now the key is to not get that Friday feeling later and fall face first into the wine fridge. I'm focusing on having a lovely sleep tonight so I'll hold that thought and I'm going to put fresh sheets on now to remind me later! Happy Friday everyone! Don't do what the picture implies! 😜

I made a big minestrone soup in the slow cooker yesterday and portioned it up for lunches.
I wfh and it's very quiet right now so struggling not to snack

muddledmidget · 11/06/2021 12:05

Hi,
Can I join you? I'm so sick of feeling fat and unhealthy. Was always around 10st4 so at the top of a healthy BMI, but put on a stone due to medication a couple of years ago, and now I've got a lock down stone as well, meaning I'm at 12st7 at 5'4, so only just sneaking below the obese category.
Have been on holiday this week, and whilst I've been walking loads along the cliffs and climbing some big hills, it all feels so much harder than it ever used to, and I can't really reach my feet properly to put my plantar fasciitis socks on, never mind cut my toe nails, due to the rolls of fat in the way!
I've set myself a couple of mini targets to get myself motivated, I'd like the first stone gone by 26th July, and another stone gone by 7th September. Really arbitrary dates but ones the first time I'll be seeing someone in a few months and would really like to have lost my lock down chin. Second is holiday that I probably won't be going on!
Final goal is 30th August next year, where I want to be in my prime due to booking an island hopping trip where I want photos I'm proud of, able to carry my pack, and smaller clothes will take up less room in my rucksack!
Plan is plenty of exercise, 10k steps a day, gym 3 times a week plus regular pilates, and cutting out the crisps, chocolate, chips and meal deals at work. Will weigh in on Monday and see the damage from my holiday

BookShark · 11/06/2021 12:16

I've had a reasonable first week - mostly through being more sensible about lunches which had become a bit of a carb-fest while working from home. So this week I've been having asparagus, parma ham and poached eggs, or egg, bacon and mushroom "muffins" with a big salad, and that seems to be working really well.

The weekend is obviously going to be trickier, but I'm okay with being sensible during the week and then relaxing slightly at weekends, even if that means slower weight loss - it's just finding the balance so that I don't completely undo it all.

Frenchrugby · 11/06/2021 12:23

Can I join? I braved the scales this morning. 70.15kg. 2 1/2 stone to lose in an ideal world but I suspect 1 stone needed to get into my summer clothes. Think I was fooling myself walking the dog would counteract the biscuits. Low carb for me seems to be the only thing that works but since I love bread, it’s very hard. Target weigh loss of 5lbs by the end of June.

Reebok · 11/06/2021 20:53

Can I join please?

I am 5ft 2, mother of 2...and I am so overweight. I look and feel like Homer Simpson
I finally pulled my head out of the sand in May. I went into a shop, tried on some clothes and stood there crying in a dressing room when I realised how fat I have become! I wasn't even this fat in either of my pregnancies.

I know it was partly being on the pill (which I came off in April) which made me gain extra weight, lockdown(s) and also my dad's health issues (cancer) resulting in me binge.

Since then, I have been eating clean. No biscuits, cakes, crisps, fizzy, chocs (ok chocs I allow myself to have a small bit once a week so I don't binge as well..I love it!) I do allow myself a treat now and then. Eating more veggies, smaller portions of carbs. Smaller portions of food full stop. Counting calories. Drinking more water. I have been doing beginners HIT workouts on youtube at home and attending the gym 3 times a week for the past 3 weeks. I don't really know if I have lost weight as I don't own a weighing scale. But work colleagues tell me I have. I don't see it though. I just see a big fat lump everytime I look in the mirror.
I need some motivation from other women feeling the way I do because I feel so low all the time.

Reallyreallyborednow · 12/06/2021 08:09

I’ve lost a pound! Two weeks of 800 cals a day and 3x a week circuit sessions and I’ve lost a whole pound.

This is where I usually give up as it doesn’t seem worth it, especially when I have a “normal” dinner and gain it all back Hmm.

Determined this time though. Depressing when mfp shows October as reaching goal, that’s a long time!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/06/2021 08:18

My weeks summary...
Exercised and gone for walk daily.
Meals good.
Not completely resisted the snack cupboard
No wine Monday-Thursday. One bottle allowed spread over weekend.
Did have takeaway on Thursday.

Scales showing 1lb down. Another 69 to go.

FAQs · 12/06/2021 09:32

@reallyreallyborednow you are probably not eating enough, your body has no fuel to burn.

FAQs · 12/06/2021 09:33

@Reebok I’m the same re how I feel! I’ve starting working out near a mirror it motivates me to keep going when I’d usually stop.

Reebok · 12/06/2021 19:11

Well done on the losses @reallyreallyborednow and @Aroundtheworldim80moves

A small loss is better than no loss! I think I need to invest in a scale so I know if I have lost anything.

@FAQs helpful to hear you also feel the same. A mirror is a good idea. I will try that!

Have been at the beach today which means I have been naughty and indulged in some fish and chips. I feel so guilty but I have been pretty good for a while! And need to stop punishing myself when I do have a treat! I will just have to work out tomorrow when we get back home!

Reebok · 12/06/2021 19:12

Though side note...as I am not use to junk food anymore, my stomach feels odd. Oh dear Grin

iluvnettletea · 12/06/2021 19:32

Had a very satisfying dinner - a plate of lettuce and tomato with avocado, and a few spoons of Mexican pork and salsa. I managed not to eat the tortillas even though I put them on the table for DH and DD so they could make burritos.

Feeling virtuous about the food, but I need to take more exercise.

iluvnettletea · 12/06/2021 20:26

I am in awe of how much some of you work out.

Reebok, I completely get the impact of hormone changes.

GalaxyGirl24 · 12/06/2021 20:38

Same.

I'm on another thread but will join this one too if that's okay :)

5ft4 and approx 12s8, size 12/14. Need to shift ideally 2 stone to be a small 10 but happy for 1.5 stones and a small 12.

Saw a picture of when I thought I was 'fat' on my phone and now I'm a stone heavier than that so I daren't have pictures now.

I plan to re start my 15:9 (struggle with 16:8 at the moment as I'm on maternity and breastfeeding 9m DD so I'm in the house a lot with free time which is a recipe for disaster in terms of snacking!) also trying to calorie count and stick to 1600 but will allow 1800 initially unless I see no results in 1/2 weeks time. Then I will be strict on 1600.

muddledmidget · 12/06/2021 21:18

I'm home from my week away now and ready to start properly. I've just seen a photo of me and my sisters taken the day I went away, and I look about 6 months pregnant, and have at least 3 chins!
So I've filled up the fridge with salad and veg and have planned my dinners and lunches for the week. I've also booked sessions at the gym for Monday, Wednesday and Friday so feeling positive.
And then I ate 6 oreos, straight after dinner for no reason than I saw them in the cupboard. Definitely need to find some new distractions for the evenings

millerpie · 13/06/2021 01:23

First seven days of using the noom app and 6lbs down, water weight sure but it’s great motivation to carry on.

ElfDragon · 13/06/2021 07:27

I’m 1lb down this week, which considering I haven’t gone in a strict diet is good.

I’ve generally snacked less (although had a couple of days of not good eating), and exercised a bit more (30 minutes of fast walking when I could fit it in). I am aiming for small changes, hoping to move slowly and realistically towards better habits, and it seems to be (slowly) working.

All positive, and will carry on and see where I get to!

Happyface120 · 13/06/2021 07:32

First week done and 3lb down. Have been pretty relaxed over weekend, but not totally awful.
Starting weight: 11st 2lb
Today: 10st 13lb
Goal weight: 9st 10lb

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 13/06/2021 08:20

Morning all.
This week I have lost 2lb. Very happy. I do have a meal out booked tonight (3 month belated birthday) at a place that doesn't do low-cal, and where I can't resist the peanut butter shortbread pudding, so will be pleased just to maintain next week.

I started my weight loss on 19 April, so:
Start weight: 13st 4lb
This week: - 2lb
Total loss: 13lb

muddledmidget · 13/06/2021 08:48

I weighed in and I've gained 1 pound while I've been away, which is the motivation I need to get serious.
Plans for today involve finishing the holiday washing, 10k steps, 2litres of water and loads of veg.

Brunch will be mushroom and tomato omelette with rocket

Dinner will be vegan chicken pieces, with 2 roast potatoes, parsnips, brocolli, carrots, peas and sweetcorn

66babe · 13/06/2021 09:54

Well I joined you all at the very beginning and fell at the first hurdle and never got on track since
Today I am going shopping , filling up the fridge with salady stuff and buying a new sugar free squash that will encourage me to drink loads ... trying again
Lovely reading all your successes
But I'm still 12/5

notevenamum1 · 13/06/2021 20:35

Hi ladies, can I please join?

Like probably everyone here, I piled on the lbs during lockdown (let’s be honest, if you didn’t then you were doing it wrong!). I started trying to shift it last August and lost 2 stone out of my target minimum of 3 stone.

Due to a number of life events over the past couple of months I have been completely off the wagon and need to get back on before I undo everything I have achieved so far.

I plan to weigh myself tomorrow. I expect I’ve put on half a stone which means I will have another 1.5 to lose (to get to very high end of normal bmi).

I have planned my meals for the week, done my shopping with loads of veg and washed and chopped a lot of it today. I have also joined the gym and have a consultation with a PT tomorrow.

Last time I did this, I found having an accountability thread and reading about other people’s journey really helpful and its probably what helped me stay consistent.

notevenamum1 · 13/06/2021 20:36

Oh also, I will be calorie counting and broadly eating in an 8 hour window (IF). Will also aim for 10k steps per day

FAQs · 14/06/2021 07:08

My first weekly weigh in.

Started at 13.2
Now 12.12

Been hammering it at the gym so got to try and keep motivated ..

Well done others on your losses!
