Starting 1st March - who is with me?!

I'm 5.7 and 13 stone at the moment which is the heaviest I've ever been. None of my clothes fit me properly and I feel awful.

I want to loose 20lb before the end of May when it gets warmer and we have to see people face to face again rather than trying to find a flattering angle on zoom!

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, calorie counting and nothing has worked for me because I start a diet on a Monday and have given up by Friday.

I know if I don't do this now I'm going to feel even more depressed come summer when none of my lovely summer clothes fit.

So I'm starting tomorrow and will calorie count, 1,600 a day which is about right for my height and won't make me hangry all day. I'm going to weigh in on a Monday morning. I think I am going to need some support because lovely food and drink is pretty much what has got me through the last year! But if I can loose 20lb before summer it will be worth the sacrifice.

Is anyone with me?!

Hi inky happy mother's day to you too 😁

notlisteningwithmother · 14/03/2021 22:33

That's a good bit of advice islarose - no point in wasting more days before getting back to the plan. There are some great tips here, and being on the thread makes me feel a bit more accountable to someone.

I signed up to a food tracking app which was a bit of an eye-opener. If I eat what I plan to eat tomorrow then I'll be well within my calorie target for a day, but adding in a decent estimate of what I would normally eat in snacks / nibbling on leftovers. Wow! That's where a significant part of the problem lies Blush Those little bits and bobs that feel kind of invisible really add up.

Bit of a wobble today because DCs made 'afternoon tea' with cake for mothers' day which was such a lovely thing to do, and delicious. But I've balanced that with a healthy evening meal and a bit of exercise. They wanted me out of the house for some reason (turned out to be cake making) so I got on my bike for the first time in a while. I'm not a speedy cyclist, so I'm probably not burning massive numbers of calories, but I do feel better for it.

theremarkablerocket · 15/03/2021 08:43

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

@notlisteningwithmother picking and leftovers are definitely my downfall - I may need to start logging my food again, if only because it's so bloody tedious adding "1 tablespoon of beans" and "8 raisins" it might discourage me from picking.

Yesterday not great but I'm fine with it -

Breakfast - porridge with raisins
Lunch - slice of sourdough, hummus, 3 quorn picnic eggs, 10ish olives, couple of tablespoons of potato salad. Vegan blueberry and lemon cupcake
Dinner - four slices of dominos pizza. Bowl of yogurt.
Snacks - small bit of sourdough with cottage cheese. Apple.

Exercise - yoga, gardening

So my Monday weight is 67.7kg, down from 68.1kg last Monday. Smaller drop than I'd like BUT my hip measurement is down half an inch and I'm wearing jeans today that I couldn't get into a couple of weeks ago Grin

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/03/2021 08:52

Was too scared to weigh this morning. This weekend we've had both my daughter's birthday and Mother's Day. So a weekend off the healthy eating.

But starting again today.

colouringindoors · 15/03/2021 10:27

remarkable that's great when you can tell by your clothes 😀

I braved the scales after a carb, cake andcwine filled Sat. It was the same as Sat morning! I think I am a bit dehydrated so prib not quite the same, but nothing like what I was worried about!

So
SW 12st 6
CW 11st 10
TW1 11st
Easter
TW2 10st

M&S deli chicken and prawns type stuff for lunch, plus salad leaves is def helping!

Onwards...

CrackedActor · 15/03/2021 16:07

I've been with this since 1st March, I do IF (16:8) and eat quite high (good) fat - butter, full fat cream an Greek yogurt etc... I don't have scales but ALL my jeans are lose and I've gone down 2 bra sizes. I still have alcohol at the weekend and I do eat dark chocolate. Lots of meat, fish, nuts, eggs (I adore chicken cob salad with full fat mayo), so really I'm just sticking to IF.

Mreggsworth · 15/03/2021 19:08

Monday not off to a great start as I had left over take away from weekend. However tomorrow is a new day!

cartwheelsteel · 15/03/2021 19:46

@CrackedActor well done!

Well the weekend wasn't a success as anticipated, although also not a total disaster. I did eat cake but in a more restrained way than normal so that's something!

For the last 2 days I've had no energy at all, feel like I need 14 hours sleep or something. Maybe just a bug coming on with kids being back at school. Anyway, it means I've not done many steps, but am at least back on track with eating. Why are weekdays so much easier?!

cartwheelsteel · 15/03/2021 19:47

@Mreggsworth leftover take away is irresistible to anyone!

colouringindoors · 16/03/2021 08:41

Grrrr no change again this morning. Frustrating.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 16/03/2021 08:46

Braved the scales. 15st2, up from 15st on Friday. Could have been worse. But not eating birthday cake or joining in with celebratory meals isn't the sort of thing I want DDs to see. Healthy the majority of the time, treats allowed.

But no excuses now until Easter.

notlisteningwithmother · 16/03/2021 09:31

Well done crackedactor and remarkable - that's the kind of motivating news I needed to hear this morning. It must feel great to see the difference in your clothes! colouring I'm with you on the no change / slow change frustration.

I'm down 2lbs over the last week which is a decent result although I'd hoped for a first week of diet 'boost.' I've started doing a 7 minute HIIT video this week, which probably doesn't burn many calories but my leg muscles were shouting at me this morning.

I had another day yesterday where the daytime food consumption was sensible and then the evening nibbles pushed me a bit over my target calorie count. Logging what I eat is a bit tedious but also an eye-opener. I think I'm having a small snack occasionally but actually I'm eating the equivalent of a toasted cheese sandwich when I added it all together!

JustSaying101 · 16/03/2021 09:46

Morning all, hope you all had a good weekend.
Didn't weigh in yesterday as weekend was pretty disastrous again due to copious amounts of cake and wine 🤦‍♀️ Yesterday wasn't brilliant either but weighed in today and no change, so hoping to get back on it today and keep going now until Easter!

Writing meal plan here for today to make myself accountable:

B - Cereal & banana
L - Probably Tuna salad sandwich, yogurt, pear
D - Chicken Stir Fry

Agree with you @notlisteningwithmother - finding the calories counting tedious, particularly when food is made from scratch! Didn't even bother over the weekend as it was off the scale!

theremarkablerocket · 16/03/2021 10:51

Thanks @notlisteningwithmother - I'm in that awkward post-pregnancy stage where most of my clothes still don't fit but I definitely can't justify maternity gear so it's nice to be able to expand my workable wardrobe a bit!

Yesterday felt pretty good, mainly because I actually managed to avoid nibbling on leftovers and turned down a cupcake.

Breakfast - porridge with raisins
Lunch - potato salad, quorn picnic eggs, olives, half a pita, hummus. Apple.
Dinner - purple sprouting broccoli pasta. Creme egg.
Snacks - half a pita

Exercise - yoga, gardening, long hilly walk

IslaRoseGraceEtc · 16/03/2021 14:52

10st4 this morning compared to starting of 10st7. Hurrah. And 13lb down from 1st Jan. Now super motivated to get to a round stone off!

That's despite one of ds Easter eggs accidentally falling into my mouth yesterday.

My clothes are also fitting better and I might need some smaller running tights. Nearly had an er incident this morning.

cartwheelsteel · 17/03/2021 06:39

So disheartened this morning. No change at all on the scales a week on from last time I checked.

Feeling really disappointed, I have cut out all snacks, been doing intermittent fasting, massively reduced portion size, focused on healthy foods, no sugar, less carbs and more green stuff. I've been walking twice as much too and it's made no difference whatsoever.

I've clearly not been doing enough on the weekend where I've been eating a little more like what I normally would, just in smaller portions Sad.

WinoLino · 17/03/2021 08:38

Hi everyone, can I join? Stuck at 10.11 for absolutely ages, (about a year) and need to be in a group when I can be held accountable for what I eat! Reduced red wine consumption from 2 bottles a week to one. Trying to eat less pasta but cannot seem to fully kick my chocolate habit. Also joining as like you @EvilOnion I've joined Team Body Project and for the first time EVER (and at 39), I'm actually quite addicted to workouts! Don't know what it is with them but something just clicked and it's right for me. However although I can see my body changing (I'm developing muscles!), my weight has stayed at 10.11 which is so frustrating.

I also think I need to start tracking with MFP but really hate it so putting it off. Hi all!

theremarkablerocket · 17/03/2021 09:30

Welcome @WinoLino!

Try not to be too disheartened @cartwheelsteel - those changes will be making you healthier and fitter even if it's not showing up on the scales yet. I've been weighing every day and been really surprised by how much my weight can fluctuate each day so it may also not be reflective of the week as a whole.

Yesterday was ok but did not manage to steer clear of the leftovers or the cupcakes...

Breakfast - porridge with raisins
Lunch - potato salad, picnic eggs, olives, half a pita, hummus. Apple. Vegan cupcake
Dinner - cauliflower tacos with guacamole. Creme egg
Snacks - half a pita, couple of spoonfuls of dairy free fish pie, apple

Exercise - yoga, gardening

JustSaying101 · 17/03/2021 12:10

Welcome @WinoLino! I'm using MFP but not religiously so. Definitely worth using to track eating habits, monitor calories etc. For me, some days work out great, however weekends are my trickiest time and it seems to go completely out the window!

Yesterday was an ok day, pretty much stuck to what I'd planned to eat, although a few biscuits did manage to disrupt things!

Today has been ok so far:
B - porridge & banana
Snack - ella protein balls
L - probably egg salad sandwich, yogurt, fruit
D - Chicken with baked potato & veg

WinoLino · 17/03/2021 12:19

Thank you! @JustSaying101 I might have to go for it and stop messing about.

So far have had weetabix with oat milk and sweetener for breakfast and done 3 workouts with TBP.

Has anyone tried Barre?? Oh my god, I can barely feel my legs Blush

WinoLino · 17/03/2021 17:15

@cartwheelsteel that sounds really frustrating. The changes you have made sound great though and the scales should soon catch up. I'm in the same boat and it feels like I could eat 3 cals a day and do 40 workouts and still weigh the same ☹️

WinoLino · 17/03/2021 17:17

@Mreggsworth great tip re kefir, I'm going to put some on my shopping list. I find the other thing that helps hunger pangs is a protein shake that I drink after a workout

colouringindoors · 17/03/2021 18:14

Didn't weigh myself today after using wine last night to treat back pain and sciatica....

Week 3 proving v tough motivation wise.

Mreggsworth · 18/03/2021 08:44

Going to start writing my daily plan out again
-Breakfast - coffee and huel bar
Lunch - bean stew and juice
Dinner - huel savoury mix
Snack - porridge pot and juice

theremarkablerocket · 18/03/2021 08:56

Yesterday -

Breakfast - porridge with raisins
Lunch - hummus, falafel, veg wrap. Apple
Dinner - kale salad, garlic bread. Bowl of yogurt
Snacks - half a pita, apple, couple of spoonfuls of sweet potato curry

Exercise - yoga, 5k run, gardening.
