Starting 1st March - who is with me?!

I'm 5.7 and 13 stone at the moment which is the heaviest I've ever been. None of my clothes fit me properly and I feel awful.

I want to loose 20lb before the end of May when it gets warmer and we have to see people face to face again rather than trying to find a flattering angle on zoom!

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, calorie counting and nothing has worked for me because I start a diet on a Monday and have given up by Friday.

I know if I don't do this now I'm going to feel even more depressed come summer when none of my lovely summer clothes fit.

So I'm starting tomorrow and will calorie count, 1,600 a day which is about right for my height and won't make me hangry all day. I'm going to weigh in on a Monday morning. I think I am going to need some support because lovely food and drink is pretty much what has got me through the last year! But if I can loose 20lb before summer it will be worth the sacrifice.

Is anyone with me?!

The exciting news here is I have got new batteries for my scales and can now actually check if all this effort is paying off.

Yesterday was a good day, lots of steps, no snacks and stayed on track. Today am feeling tired so probably won't make my steps target, but so far keeping on track with the foods. Weekdays seem ok so far...it's just the weekends which seem impossible!

colouringindoors · 10/03/2021 17:20

No loss here this morning. I suspect having dairy twice in one day is too calorific even when low carbing. Also dinner ended up being pretty large (though delicious 😁) Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Mixitupalot · 10/03/2021 22:29

I am weighing in tomorrow morning. I hope I’ve lost at least a 1lb. This time I am trying just calorie counting and not the low carb I did before & I don’t feel as hungry or deprived. If it doesn’t work then I’ll look at changing small bits.

Today I had: 30g porridge with almond milk,
Tuna red onion wrap with chilli sauce & a side salad
Lemon fibre bar
Hot cross bun with butter
Lots of water
Ended on 1400 calories

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/03/2021 10:18

Yesterday meals
Breakfast... Fruit and yoghurt
Lunch... Chicken and vegetable soup
Dinner... Fish and baked beans

theremarkablerocket · 11/03/2021 10:30

Yesterday...

Breakfast - porridge and raisins
Lunch - pita, hummus, falafel, veg, apple
Dinner - kale and feta salad, chunk of focaccia, creme egg
Snacks - half a pita, couple of bits of potato

Exercise - none! 4K steps

Yesterday felt pretty good apart from the lack of exercise but weight is up slightly this morning. I did eat absolutely loads of the kale salad...

JustSaying101 · 11/03/2021 10:50

Morning all! ☕ How has everyone's week been so far? Apologies for not really checking in this week, weekend eating went a bit dodgy so trying to start the week afresh!

So far today I've had:

B - Banana, porridge
Snack - Ella protein ball thing (they're rather nice and satisfy my sweet tooth!)
L - probably tuna salad sandwich, yogurt, pear
D - Cottage pie & broccoli, glass of wine

Will check back in over the weekend, hope you all have a lovely day.

Mreggsworth · 11/03/2021 16:26

My week has not been anywhere as good as last but I've felt quite under the weather so not being too hard on my self. Definitely not over ate just been generally going for quick energy boosting foods (carbs/sugar) than thinking through my meals properly.

Today so far - huel breakfast bar
Coffee
Lunch - huel savoury mix and half a chicken and avocado wrap (I didn't make half a wrap. Was boyfriends left overs)
Snack - smoothie, banana, coffee and cetral bar

Doesn't feel like I've eaten much but it probably is creeping up to my daily calorie goal so will try have something small and light for tea

colouringindoors · 11/03/2021 17:09

me either mreggsworth I've stayed the same weight as Monday. I know sometimes you have a plateau with low carb, but for me not usually after only 10 days. Will have to watch portion size. Really hard not to get massively disheartened and eat a big cake with a bottle of wine!

Mreggsworth · 11/03/2021 18:14

@colouringindoors

Low carb works well for me, I'm just super busy at the moment and just found low carb required a lot of prep, but I might try to get back into it. I have lost a lot of weight low carbing before and I found I didnt loose consistently, id have long periods of plateaus then a big 'woosh effect' and it seemed as if I'd lost loads quickly. I'm sure there is some science to it ? Something to do with holding / storing water in your fat cells when doing low carbs then it all just releasing, thus giving the 'woosh'....so basically dont get platauing as an indicator your diet isnt working just yet

colouringindoors · 11/03/2021 22:34

Thanks mreggsworth appreciate it.

I'm making it as easy as possible with nice chicken, prawns and bits from Marks', like you say it's a lot of thought/work. Fingers crossed for a "whoosh" soon!

Oh and Konjac noodles- amazing!

theremarkablerocket · 12/03/2021 08:29

Ok day yesterday - did another early 5k and didn't feel quite so destroyed the rest of the day so I'll take that as progress!

Breakfast - porridge with raisins
Lunch - leftover kale salad, small piece of focaccia, apple
Dinner - bubble and squeak cakes, poached egg, beans. Apple.
Snacks - whole pita, a couple of mouthfuls of the kids' couscous

Am down .6kg on Monday - going to try and be extra good today so I can indulge a bit on Sunday (DH at work 7am - 9pm so nice food will be the only concession to Mother's Day!).

colouringindoors · 12/03/2021 09:37

Well done!

I'm down 1 lb today, 1 lb loss since Monday but it's better than nothing. Am going to be eating cake on mother's day so not expecting any further loss by next Monday!

cartwheelsteel · 12/03/2021 10:14

Well done @colouringindoors & @theremarkablerocket.

Things are going steadily here, waiting a few more days to weigh myself to see, but I feel a bit better in myself generally for being a bit more conscious of what I'm eating. I'm finding intermittent fasting is getting easier now school's back as I can start eating about half an hour after I get back from dropping off my eldest. It stops me having something to eat whilst sitting on the sofa in the evening, and I've switched to eating when I'm actually hungry rather than bored which means no snacks as I don't actually seem to be hungry in between meals.

Yesterday was a good day:
Breakfast: a little bowl of leftover prawn, veg and lentil curry (weird but lovely!)
Lunch: Tuna roll with salad
Dinner: Bean and veg chilli with toasted seeds, grated cheese and half an avocado.

Today we are having our Friday treat, not a takeaway this time but still calorific so am trying to be restrained for my other meals. I'll be over my total goal, but under 2000 calories I think so I can live with that! Mothers day is going to be a challenge as cake usually features pretty heavily and I feel like after all that homeschooling it's only fair to indulge a teeny bit...

Mixitupalot · 12/03/2021 13:25

Well done everyone so far!

I weight in -2lbs this week so happy enough with that considering I am not low carving this time.

I did however have a binge this morning as I am feeling very low today and just didn’t care... I ate 3 bars bars 😳 for breakfast! I just drove ipto the shop lifted them and ate them in the car.

So I need to try and feel better today so I can move on from this negativity in my head.

Any plans for the weekend?

colouringindoors · 12/03/2021 20:03

That's great mixitup!
These things happen sometimes, tomorrow is another day...
I am off diet tomorrow as doing Mother's Day tomorrow. So will prob find that my brunch, cake and wine will add 4 lb or something stupid 🙄

notlisteningwithmother · 12/03/2021 22:25

Hello! I'm a bit late, but hopefully not too late to join.

I've got a 'significant' birthday coming up and I don't want to wake up in the morning, take one look at myself in the mirror, and cringe. No parties, no special celebrations, just a desire to be happy in my own skin.

I put on a bit of weight in 2020 mainly by eating too much and being too sedentary during lockdown. I lost some of it but since Christmas I've struggled to get back to healthy eating and the weight has started to sneak up again.

Children went back to school on Monday, so I've taken this as a starting point. And I was doing alright this week until today when the munchies set in! I'm cross with myself, but the damage is done, and at the moment limited to one evening.

I'm talking myself out of a 'well that's it ruined' mentality because I know that's been a habit since January. Start the week with good intentions, have a day of rubbish eating, and decide that I might as well wait until the next Monday to start again. No. Start again tomorrow!

Monday is going to be a regular weigh-in day. Based on Monday this week, I've got about 8-10 pounds to lose. That sounds doable. I'm the kind of build where an extra half stone does start to show, as my trousers are proving. But hopefully that means results will also start to show.

colouringindoors · 12/03/2021 22:50

Hello notlistening never too late. 8-10 lb is eminently doable!

I've slipped this eve with several g and ts and then peanuts...

And I think my dd has got me a whole fancy cake for mother's day, which is v sweet, but I was only planning on one slice! Aaaaarghh what do i do? 😅

IslaRoseGraceEtc · 13/03/2021 08:10

Welcome notlistening Someone said to me there are 52 Mondays a year but 365 days. Why limit your chances of a fresh start to Mondays only.

Down a bit to 10st4 from starting point of 10st7 on the 1st. Will see if I can maintain this over the weekend - feels unlikely Confused

theremarkablerocket · 13/03/2021 08:16

@colouringindoors and @IslaRoseGraceEtc also not feeling very optimistic about keeping the lbs off this weekend - DH is working all day tomorrow so we're doing Mother's Day today and I'm fairly sure I can hear him making hollondaise sauce in the kitchen... And I've promised the DCs we'll make cupcakes tomorrow. I've also got us a nice picnic lunch for tomo which will inevitably see me eating a whole pack of Quorn picnic eggs in one sitting.

Yesterday...
Breakfast - porridge with raisins
Lunch - bubble and squeak cake with cottage cheese. Apple
Dinner - prawn fish cakes with lemon cabbage. Bowl of yogurt. Apple
Snacks - slice of kids' pizza

Exercise - 40 mins yoga, hour of garden work

Down .8kg overall from Monday so hope I can hang on to some of that loss over the weekend!

colouringindoors · 13/03/2021 09:26

theremarkable I'm doing mothers day today too so am hoping packing in brunch, cake and wine later jnto one day might minimise impact???? (clutching at straws) but if dd has bought/made me a whole cake I'm in trouble!

theremarkablerocket · 13/03/2021 11:04

@colouringindoors I'm sure just switching the days will be much better than spreading it over two like I'm going to end up doing!

colouringindoors · 13/03/2021 11:11

aaaaaaarrrggghhhhhhh😅😅😅😅

Starting 1st March - who is with me?!
theremarkablerocket · 14/03/2021 09:18

@colouringindoors so lovely but so dangerous!

Oof, didn't do well yesterday -

Breakfast - sourdough toast, avocado, smoked salmon, poached egg, hollandaise sauce
Dinner - dominos veggie volcano
Snacks - hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows Blush

Exercise - yoga, 5k run.

Not going to put too much pressure on myself today - feeling a bit ropey after getting my covid jab yesterday evening and have the three DCs by myself all day. And the rest of my pizza in the fridge...

colouringindoors · 14/03/2021 11:44

Def don't be hard on yourself in those circumstances!

I managed to give away about half the cake and had 2 big pieces yesterday. I'm going to try not to have any more.

Cos I was carbing I had avocado and poached egg on sourdough for brunch (plus cake). Interestingly I wasn't really hungry in the evening. I'm thinking and hoping my stomach has shrunk a bit over the last 2 weeks without the carb stodge. Cheese, crackers, pear (and cake) for tea later. And wine. Though I have a hangover this morning so have unusually poured away the last third of a bottle. It was intetesting last night, I'd had these treats, but didn't feel very well. Don't get me wrong I'd quite like a cream tea now 😅 but am hoping that my sweet tooth has been weakened.

Now I wish I had some bacon in....
