Starting 1st March - who is with me?!

I'm 5.7 and 13 stone at the moment which is the heaviest I've ever been. None of my clothes fit me properly and I feel awful.

I want to loose 20lb before the end of May when it gets warmer and we have to see people face to face again rather than trying to find a flattering angle on zoom!

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, calorie counting and nothing has worked for me because I start a diet on a Monday and have given up by Friday.

I know if I don't do this now I'm going to feel even more depressed come summer when none of my lovely summer clothes fit.

So I'm starting tomorrow and will calorie count, 1,600 a day which is about right for my height and won't make me hangry all day. I'm going to weigh in on a Monday morning. I think I am going to need some support because lovely food and drink is pretty much what has got me through the last year! But if I can loose 20lb before summer it will be worth the sacrifice.

Is anyone with me?!

I don't think the majority would condemn a mother taking a toddler out and then doing her own exercise separately.
(I did that at times with my children.. I counted their exercise as 'caring responsibilities' and my exercise as exercise).

IslaRoseGraceEtc · 07/03/2021 11:04

Oh I see, yes I don't think you'd be causing any harm getting out on your own!

Just used to battling with my dh who thinks a run, a cycle ride and a session in the allotment is within the rules.

colouringindoors · 07/03/2021 16:01

Well. I've been good food-wise all weekend, but have had a bottle of wine. So I didn't weigh myself this morning. Good so far today, so hoping tomorrow's weigh in will be ok! One good thing though, despite the wine I managed to resist the crisps (a rare achievement for me 😅) I told myself if I snack cos I'm drinking wine, then there's no wine next weekend!

Only done one week. Feels like a month! Really hope I can keep it up.

kittybee · 07/03/2021 17:09

@colouringindoors I’ve done the same as you this weekend. I’ve stuck to my eating plan, but have had wine.

cartwheelsteel · 07/03/2021 20:46

Today was a good day thankfully. Did my 10,000 steps. Lots of carbs, but somehow came on target for the calories despite it not being the healthiest of food choices.

A slice of eggy bread and fruit for breakfast, pitta and taramasalata for lunch and tomato and mozzarella salad for dinner. Managing fine without snacks in between weirdly and managed the 16:8 thing today too rather than the normal 14:10 I've been doing. Hoping tomorrow will be a good day too. Maybe with a bit more fruit and veg and less carbs!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/03/2021 21:00

Today's meals
Brunch... Scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes.
Dinner... Roast Chicken, stuffing, carrots, sprouts, gravy
Pudding... Small slice of apple pie.

Exercise... 2mile walk to Sainsbury's, shopping, 2miles back up hill home.

Realised earlier I need to loose 25% of my body weight. That seems massive and shameful.

Listenbefore · 07/03/2021 21:01

Evening all , I have 4 stone to go so it is going to take a while but I need to make a start.
I have spoken honestly with my dh today about my emotional eating and how I want to get a handle on it.
My biggest issues are around using snacks to change how I am feeling which of course never even works and more exercise.

I cook from scratch and really enjoy healthy meals. It is the crisps and bread that ruins it.

kittybee · 08/03/2021 08:02

Morning all. @MrsCherryBakewell it’s time for our first official weigh in. I’ve been weighing throughout the week which is how I know I’ve put on over the weekend. 😢 Despite the gain I’m ok with the overall loss, and hope the scales go in the right direction this week.

SW 12st 1/4lb
CW 11st 7 3/8lb
GW 9st something, will work out what the something should be when/if I get into that bracket.

How’s everyone else’s week gone?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 08/03/2021 08:18

Well, Sunday morning I'd lost weight this week (184lbs so 3lbs down). But sunday was our wedding anniversary and we had lots of fancy food and now I've put on weight (187.4 so 0.4lbs up!) Hmm... I know some will be water retention from the salt and sugar!

ApolloandDaphne · 08/03/2021 08:35

@ApolloandDaphne

I weighed in at 13st 13lb this morning. I have decided to start off with the Fast800 diet to get off to a good start. If it gets hard I will move to intermittent fasting.
Update for week one. I didn't stick properly to the Fast800 but I still lowered my calories significantly. Today I am 13st 10.4. I am fairly happy with that. I know my body gives up its fat reserves very reluctantly!
theremarkablerocket · 08/03/2021 08:49

Yesterday was a much better day (even turned down cake!) and am down 1kg overall on last Monday.

SW - 69.1kg
CW - 68.1kg
GW - 62.5kg

If I carry on at this rate I won't make my goal weight by Easter but I'll still be pretty happy.

So yesterday:
Breakfast - porridge, raisins
Lunch - falafel wrap
Dinner - veggie pulled pork-style thing burger with coleslaw and guacamole, oven chips, creme egg
Snacks - none!

Exercise - 10k steps

kittybee · 08/03/2021 08:49

@TheDaydreamBelievers Happy anniversary.

IslaRoseGraceEtc · 08/03/2021 09:21

1lb down since last Monday at 10st6 but I weight daily and just realised I've been stuck at 10st7 +/- 1lb since 20 Feb.

Going to try to stick to 5/2 This week and see if it helps.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/03/2021 09:39

1st March... 15st8lb
8th March...15st3lb
A good motivation. Obviously not expecting to lose 5lb every week.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/03/2021 11:07

Also do e waist measurement... 46in.

beckett12 · 08/03/2021 11:18

Some really good loses well done everyone!
I'm back on it today after falling off plan Saturday night anxiety was awful I crumbled an ordered Chinese 😔
My birthday tomorrow so I will try to Control myself and hope nobody gets me a cake! 😅 x

LlamaofDrama · 08/03/2021 11:56

No loss for me today, but with 1.5lbs off on Thursday that's no surprise. I'd like to have another 1 off by next Monday, so that's my mini goal. Just focusing on how I want to spend money on new shoes when I'm back in the office (my work shoes died during lockdown 1) so I need to fit into my work clothes!

colouringindoors · 08/03/2021 16:53

weighed in same as Friday, which I'll take given the bottle of wine over the weekend.

onwards...

cartwheelsteel · 08/03/2021 20:08

Sounds like everyone's making good progress!

A good day here. Didn't make 10,000 steps but did manage 16:8 again, no snacks at all and smaller portions meaning I made my calorie target. Mushrooms on a slice of toast for breakfast, tomato salad for lunch and a small portion of prawn curry for dinner (and I somehow resisted going back for more!).

Have decided I probably need to get some more batteries for our scales so I can actually weigh myself to see if there is actually any progress.

Mreggsworth · 08/03/2021 21:10

I have done ok today.. felt a bit rough. Not calorie counted but my food was all portioned do likely not over 1500. Going to try 1200 till Saturday

theremarkablerocket · 09/03/2021 08:48

Feel like yesterday was ok, though only down .1kg this morning. Probably need to watch my portion sizes when I have pasta.

Breakfast - porridge with banana
Lunch - leftover veggie biryani and curry, apple
Dinner - spaghetti with purple sprouting broccolli and kale pesto. Creme egg
Snacks - half a pita, bit of broccoli and hummus wrap from kids' dinner
Exercise - yoga, 12k steps

Just about to head out for a run in the daylight! Bliss.

colouringindoors · 09/03/2021 09:10

Morning all!
down a lb this morning Grin
SW 12 st 6
CW 11 st 12
TW1 11st
TW2 10st

Am suspecting the low carbing is affecting my mood (not in a good way) but am going to keep going for now - it works and my weight was also getting me down. Also i know i tave to get a bit below TW cos when i start to introduce carbs i alwsys go up a bit again.

Mreggsworth · 10/03/2021 08:46

Yesterday wasn't amazing.. probably not much over calorie allowance but wasnt very nutritious. Didnt really have meals just picked.. was feeling very run down think I'm due some time off work. Today's plan
Breakfast- huel bar and coffee
Lunch - huel savoury mix, and smoothie
Snack- juice
Dinner - curried cod with veg

theremarkablerocket · 10/03/2021 09:13

Found yesterday really tough - did a 5k run early on and then felt ravenous all day.

Breakfast - porridge with honey
Lunch - pita with hummus, falafel and veg. Apple.
Dinner - noodles in broth with greens, mushroom and an egg. Orange smartie chocolate.
Snacks - half a pita with cottage cheese, bit of mash and some peas from kids' dinner.
Exercise - yoga, 5k run, lots of digging in the garden.

Obviously it's wonderful having the kids back at school (and still have a 4mo to look after and my 3yo back at midday) but it was much easier to avoid snacks when I was flat out all day!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/03/2021 11:29

The good things about yesterday..
Meals..
Breakfast Scrambled eggs
Lunch... Chicken salad
Dinner.. Jambalaya
I resisted the urge to buy myself a big bag of sweets or crisps for the way home from Supermarket.

The bad thing about yesterday... Eating the massive bar of chocolate I bought DDs for baking.

I was therefore pleasantly surprised to maintain at 15st2 from yesterday.
